Part 16 - handsome? just a little
A hard first day of work was over for Ayaan and tara. it was now 9 pm, they both were leaving the restaurant talking about a guy who came to eat dinner with his girlfriend as they started a fight because of the meal.
"have you seen how she started to scream at him ?" asked tara laughing as she looked for a taxi.
"haan..that guy was so scared of his girlfriend, such an idiot." said Ayaan who stood right behind her.
"kyun?" asked tara as she turned around and looked at him with squinted eyebrows.
"ehm.. I mean who is scared of a woman?" asked Ayaan chuckling and looked searched his keys in his right pocket.
"a lot of men should." said tara as she gave him a death stare.
Ayaan let out a chuckle but as soon as he looked at her he stopped. Tara just looked away reaching her arm out for a taxi.
Ayaan felt bad as he looked at her. She didn't even look at him and still reached her arm out for a taxi.
"sorry." said Ayaan and she looked at him. She gave him a cute smile.
"it's okey." she said and finally a taxi came her way.
"good night." she said and wanted to open the door.
"ek second." said Ayaan and held her wrist.
tara looked at him surprised and back at her wrist. "what are you doing?" she asked and wanted to free herself.
Ayaan let go of her. "sorry, I'll drive you home."
"no, it's okey. thank you." she said and opened the car door.
"no, why?" asked Ayaan and looked at her.
"kyun Matlab?, i don't want you to drive me home." said tara sand wanted to close the door.
"no, wait. I want to make it up to you." said Ayaan and gave her a smile.
"kyun, you didn't do anything." she said smiling.
"You took your time and knowledge for me today, the whole day. I just want to be polite."
Tara gave him a smile and looked at the taxi driver.
"sorry bhaiya." she said as she get out of the car.
the taxi driver just shook his head and said "couples nowadays."
"oye, who are to.."
"Ayaan, it's okey."
Ayaan gave him an angry face as the taxi driver drove away. as they walked to to Ayaan's car tara's looked at him.
"i didn't know that you can get angry about one small word."
"well, my father also gets angry really fast."
"oh really?" asked tara as they both got into his car and Ayaan started the engine.
Tara looked at him and his car.
"quite a nice car huh?"
Ayaan face slapped himself as he remembered that he didn't want to tell his real identity.
"ehh..haan." he looked at her for a moment and back on the street.
"it's not mine. It's my friend his car."
tara smiled.
"i understand mr Gupta, you just wanted to impress me." she said looking at him.
Ayaan smiled without looking at her. Tara saw that he got shy as his cheeks turned in a shade of red. She just shook her head and looked out of the window. that's when Ayaan had the chance to look at her. Her long brown hair was waving because of the open window as she looked out of it. Her face was so innocent as her eyes were looking for a story in the trees they were driving past. Her lips had an innocent smile on as her cheeks were also in a shade of red.
"you're staring."
"huh?" asked Ayaan and looked back to the streets. "nain."
tara looked at him and smiled. "then why were you about to drive on the lawn and not the street?"
"was i ?" asked Ayaan innocent with a smirk on his face as he gave her a glance. tara shook her head.
"you should better pay attention to the road I don't want to be delivered dead."
"don't worry. you're in safe hands."
"my hero." said tara and touched his shoulder.
Ayaan was surprised by her behavior and cleared his throat.
"ms singh, you should not distract me, I'm driving." said Ayaan smirking.
Tara also cleared her throat and looked out of the window.
"by the way, how long do we have to drive till your house."
"just a few minutes more, you have to turn right."
Ayaan did as she told him to and after a few minutes they arrived her house. It was not as big as shantivan but it was a beautiful house.
Tara wanted to open the door but Ayaan stopped her by touching her shoulder.
"let me be a real hero." he said and gor out of the car to open the door for her by handing her his hand.
tara chuckled and took his hand.
"thank you." she said and let go of his hand.
"so, I'll see you tomorrow again." said tara.
"haan..eh, how was I today?" asked Ayaan.
"well, you were..nice." said tara and chuckled.
Ayaan smiled and looked at his feet.
"ehm..may I ask you something?" asked tara.
"haan of course." said Ayaan serious.
"i..looked at your papers. at the office and I saw that you have studied in Harvard."
"correct."
"so, you're smart. I mean you could be something much bigger than a..waiter, right?"
Ayaan nodded his head.
"toh.."
"toh, your question is 'why are you here and not on the magazine of Indias most handsome businessmen?'right?"
"well, businessman is correct but handsome.." tara looked at Ayaan from head to toe and back at his eyes.
"a little bit." she said.
"That's more than I ever wanted to hear." said Ayaan laying his right hand on his heart and bowed down.
tara chuckled. "you're running away from your answer."
Ayaan looked at her house and pointed at it.
"Did you build this house or did your parents just buy it?" asked Ayaan and tara turned around to look at it.
"my father built it. I was 2 years old when we came to Delhi from Punjab. my brother was a newborn baby."
"you have a brother?" asked Ayaan.
tara took her right eyebrow up. "just answer my question mr Gupta."
at that moment tara's father came out on the balcony, looked at them and listened to their conversation.
"to built his house your father needed some land to build it. and for that land he worked hard. it's nothing special to think about for you and me and the younger generation. but our parents really did a lot for us and they never tell us that or scream it out to the world. I just want to start with a job and see were destiny brings me."
tara just looked at him.
"but what does that have to do with the job as a waiter? you could built a much bigger house with more money, I mean you studied in America."
"I know and I'm happy I have, but right now I don't wan to start something big because I feel I'm still not ready."
tara nodded. "you're really inspiring."
Ayaan smiled. "I know." he said.
"TARA!"
they both looked at the balcony and saw a man in his middle 50s standing there with his hands behind his back.
"are you willing to enter this house or do you want to sleep in the garden tonight?"
"I'M COMMING PAPA!"
tara looked at Ayaan.
"good night."
"good night." said Ayaan smiling.
"oh..and thank you for driving me home." said tara who face slapped herself.
"anytime again, whenever you need a taxi."
tara jus nodded and waved him 'bye'.
Ayaan looked back at her father who was still looking at him with a serious face.
Ayaan waved at him and he waved back slowly.
Ayaan turned around and drove away slowly.
Tara watched him driving away and smiled. she took off her jacket and bag.
"what were you talking about?"
tara got scared of the sudden voice which came from the kitchen. it was her little brother with a bowl full of ice cream.
"sush! you scared me!" said tara angry.
"sorry." sushant said cool and sat on the couch in the living room.
