Episode 2: The Quest for Answers
Away from the darkness came sunlight. The darkness continued to stretch and stretch, showing the cerulean eyes of Blake as he opened them.
The black haired teen got up and yawned, stretching his arms and legs. Suddenly, he found that he was no longer inside of the tent. He was on the hard ground of the cave.
"Huh..." Blake said, blinking in confusion. "I don't usually have a bad sleeping pattern. How'd I end up out here?" he asked himself, rubbing the back of his head.
"Morning." Roy greeted, grinning.
Blake shaded his face from the sunlight and looked at Roy from the legs up. The redhead was in a black jacket with the long sleeves cut off. He wore a red undershirt with the capital letter "R" on it. His also wore black jeans and red shoes with white laces and bottom. However, he kept the headband on and his hairstyle did not change.
"What's with the change of outfit?" Blake asked.
"I've been wearing the ones I wore last night for three whole days." Roy said, pointing at the area where the fire once was.
Blake looked, spotting scorched clothing. "Ah."
The redhead smiled. "These suit me better. Now come on! We got to begin your training!"
Blake got up. He was still in the same black underwear from last night.
"Where are we going?" Blake questioned.
"I told you already—I'm going to start training you. I doubt you know how to fight."
"H-hey! I can fight! Sort of...!" Blake said, looking away in embarrassment.
"If you could, you wouldn't have ran away from those drones." Roy pointed out, stifling a chuckle.
Blake continued to avoid his gaze, possibly denying the truth.
"We need to get you some proper clothes. We can't have you walking around in that everyday." Roy said.
"R-right." Blake said, ruffling the back of his head timidly.
Roy and Blake stepped out into the warm sunlight. Roy smiled as he enjoyed the heat while Blake listened to the birds chirping and the butterflies flying around a beautiful patch of flowers.
"So... Where am I gonna get new clothes?" Blake asked.
"In Sangston City of course." Roy said.
Blake gave him a confused look. "Sangston City...?"
"It's the city closest to us of course..."
"Really... I thought it was..." Blake began, before suddenly pausing—his face blank for a moment.
"Meraville. I know." Roy said. "Now I'm convinced some of your memories are gone."
"Meraville... That name sounds so familiar but..." Blake said, holding his head.
"What did I just say? Your. Memories." Roy exclaimed, pointing at his head for extra emphasis.
Blake shook his head and continued walking normally. "So where is Sangston City?" he asked.
Roy pointed at a city to the east of them. However, It was so far that it seemed blue.
"That's the nearest city?" Blake yelled in surprise.
"Yep!" Roy said.
"Then why are we walking!" Blake asked in confusion.
"Oh, right." Roy said, chuckling. Roy jumped back and threw Blake's arms over his shoulders. "Now we're set! Let's go!"
"No not again!" Blake said, shaking his head.
Roy boosted himself across the trees and boulders. He was making his way to the city at a phenomenal speed.
In about a minute—I Roy and Blake were in Sangston city.
"H-how do you run so fast..." Blake asked.
"It's all apart of XYZ my friend!" Roy said with a confident grin. "You can do it as well. I just need to figure out what happened to you."
Blake glanced down at the grey cemented sidewalk. "T-there's no way I can run that fast." Roy dropped Blake on his buttocks without even a warning. "Ow! Would you stop throwing me and dropping me like that?" Blake yelled.
"That's how I do buddy." Roy said folding his arms and smirking. "And stop thinking low of yourself. You want to know what XYZ is, right?"
"If that means me understanding why you have such cool powers, then yeah..." Blake said, getting up and rubbing his rump.
Roy smirked again and began walking forward. "Then this your quest to find the answers you're looking for!"
Blake gave no response. But he continued to walk behind the redhead with a worried face.

"Welcome to Lewis's Super-center!" Roy yelled, stretching his arms out.
"Woah! This place is huge!" Blake said.
"It is. Personally I don't fool around places like these. But seeing the situation..."
Blake had sweat running down his face as he looked down. The awkwardness of the realization that people were looking at him with confused faces—or blushing faces in the case of some girls.
"Let's hurry up and suit you up in something good!" Roy yelled, signalling for him to follow after him. Blake and Roy casually walked inside—As if Blake weren't nearly naked .
Meanwhile, a brown haired man with little facial hair watches with his sinister eyes through the binoculars. "The targets are in sight..." he said.
Blake looked around with an open mouth and a face of curiosity at all the items on display. There were so many clothes to choose from. Though clothes wasn't all that the place sold—there was also food, medicine, bikes, plants, you name it, they had it!
"Let's find you something that really suits you. Something that matches... A color like... Black." Roy said with a grin.
"Well no duh." Blake said, shrugging.
The redhead stopped and looked to his right. "Thankfully, the clothing in this place is arranged color by color."
Roy skated across the shiny white tiles and grabbed three random pieces of clothing.
"Here you go!" Roy yelled with a smile.
"Uh..." Blake said, narrowing his eyes. "They're my size. But you got the wrong gender!" Blake yelled.
"Huh...?" Roy said. He looked down at the pieces of clothing he gathered. He then realized that it was a skirt, a pair of socks with black hearts and even more disturbingly, a pair of black panties. "Oh! My bad!"
Blake couldn't shake off the feeling that Roy had done it on purpose.
"Here!" Roy yelled, this time with a set of boy clothes.
"Hmm. This could work but... too flashy." Blake said.
"What?" Roy yelled. "It's art!" He pointed at a T-shirt with over one hundred different skulls on it. All of the same color, all of the same size.
"Yeah... "Art"," Blake said in a sarcastic tone.
Roy and Blake continued to roam the "Black" section of the clothing section for another half an hour.
"This is hopeless," Roy said. "I can't have you wearing anything plain."
"What? Why not?" Blake asked.
"Because Plain is not fun." the redhead said in frustration.
Suddenly a 'click' sound was heard. Roy held his head up, only to see a gun pointed at his head.
"Hmm?" Roy said, as if it were an everyday occurrence.
Blake screamed like a stereotypical girl in a scary movie.
"Subject 07152 - Roy Shinryaku. I am veteran officer Malcolm and my orders are to kill you." the man said.
"Oh?" Roy said, raising his eyebrows. He stepped closer to him with a terrifying grin.
"D-don't come any closer, I'll shoot!" Malcolm yelled.
Roy snickered, crossing his arms over his chest. "I want to see you try!"
"R-roy don't provoke him!" Blake said. Before he finished, he saw Roy was gone. "Uh, nevermind."
"Boo!" Roy yelled into the man's ears.
Malcolm spun around and fired three shots on impulse. However, the bullets dropped from Roy's head onto the ground in between them, crushed.
Malcolm gasped, dropping his weapon unto the floor. "W-what are you?"
Roy jumped into the air, Axe kicking the man straight in the jaw. Malcolm fell on the floor with an awfully loud thud, knocked out cold as blood dyed the once white tiles.
Blake screamed once again and dropped to the ground in panic. "You killed him!" Blake yelled.
"Calm down. I only knocked him out. He'll be up and about in a few minutes." Roy explained.
Suddenly two large drones—larger than that of the drones that Blake first encountered, made their way to Roy and Blake. Shoppers screamed for their lives as the drones knocked over hangers, shelves, and even people.
"What in the world?" Roy said, eyes wide with shock. Where had those things come from? How had they gotten in?
Red lights dotted onto Roy and Blake.
"Damn it! More security drones!"

The sky-blue-haired woman was running just south of the super-center. Immediately, she spotted an explosion. She gasped. Blake! she thought.
***
Roy jumped out of the smoke, holding Blake's arm. Blake was screaming even more now.
"Would you shut up!" Roy yelled his head off. He landed on his feet and dropped Blake once again, this time on the head.
"Ow!" Blake yelled.
The hot-blooded youth grimaced. "I apologize for that one. It really doesn't help since your memory is already bad."
Blake shook his head and pointed at the two large shadows moving toward them. The drones slowly descend using their sole boosters, aiming directly at the two.
Blake's eyes shrunk in fear as he backed away slowly. Roy on the other hand, smirked in confidence. "You ready!" Roy yelled.
"W-what! No!" Blake said.
Roy ran towards both drones without hesitation. "Here I come!"
The cerulean-haired woman stopped and opened her eyes wide as she arrived at the scene. "That's Roy...!" she said. She spotted Blake sitting on the ground in fear not too long after.
The redhead's arms became shiny with different shades of gray and red. His entire upper body—minus his head— had become metallic.
She gasped and got behind a tree, whipped out her notebook and began writing with her tongue stuck out.
"I need to study them. I just must!" she said. "Roy Shinryaku. XYZ trait..." she paused.
Roy punched one of the drones, making a large dent. It then keeled over on it's side, sparking electricity.
"Metal and Iron manipulation. Kinetic names... Ferrokinesis and Ferrikinesis!" she analyzed. "And Blake Spencer..."
The woman lowered her notebook and now had a worried facial expression. "Unknown..."
The second drone raised it's heavy metallic arm, ready to crush Roy. "Try again!" Roy yelled.
Roy jumped and gave the drone an uppercut. He managed to knock down both drones successfully.
Roy landed on the ground with grace, having the same smirk he had before he started attacking. He pushed himself up and rubbed the back of his head in worry. "You know, you're never going to find answers if you keep missing out like this!" Roy said, turning to look at the amnesiatic boy.
"I'll get by just fine without fighting..." Blake said, staring at him in awe.
"Hmph. You'll never unlock your ability with that attitude. Which is why I'm going to train you." Roy said, giving a thumbs up.
"Well that's reassuring..."
Suddenly, a massive footstep followed by an intense vibration, caused Blake to get on his feet. "What was that...?" he asked.
"Don't know. But. If it's another drone, I'll be sure to take care of him." Roy said.
"I hope you're wrong..." Blake crossed his fingers behind his back.
A large robotic hand crushed the skyscrapers beside the store, sending large pieces of glass falling from them. Women and men were screaming and running for their lives in all directions. In that instant, the city was in chaos.
The shadow of the giant drone obscured the sun for both Blake and Roy. Blake was now crawling backwards in complete and utter fear. "I... can't believe you were right!"
"Heh. I'm glad I am! I live for the challenge!" Roy yelled, cracking his knuckles.
Surprisingly, another vibration was felt in the opposite direction. Roy was just as surprised this time as his eyes darted to his right. Two of them? "We're doomed!" Blake yelled in fear.
"Haha! No way! As if I'd make these scraps of metal beat us!" Roy yelled confidently. "Come on! Show me what you got!"
"I'll take the one on the right! You take the one on the left!" Roy yelled and began running to his right. "Go!"
"W-what?" Blake asked incredulously. The giant drone in front of Blake stepped closer and closer, stirring more fear into him. Blake was now too frightened to move. His lips were quivering and his hands and legs were shaking non-stop.
"Those must be one of the more advanced models..." the woman said in concern. "Gng! I have to go help Blake!"
The drone raised it's giant arm and thrust it's arm downward. I'm dead! Blake thought, covering his face.
Roy leaped on top of his attackers arm and punched through it, causing a shock wave that caused its arm to fall apart. "Blake!" he yelled turning around.
Roy's eyes widened as the drones arm suddenly ignited and exploded. Shortly after, the rest of the drone was on fire. The rest of the drone, however, was not. He changed the property of his skin to metal and leaped, punched the drone in it's core and kicked it over.
As he landed with a smirk, the drone exploded behind him in a colorful display of crimson flames. He stood up straight, and spun around to watch the burning drone as he stood beside Blake.
"H-huh?" Blake said, uncovering his face.
"So, brother... who's this with you...?" a female voice said.
Roy had his jaw completely dropped. Blake got on his feet slowly, watching the burning drone. Standing on top of it was a blonde girl with her arms folded and her hair blowing forward.
"Who is that...?" Blake asked himself.
'Diane!' Roy thought. His mouth slowly quivered as it turned into a smile.
**Plasma Note: The reason for why Roy's power is described as control over 'metal and iron' is because there is a slight distinction between iron and other metals.**
