Chapter 4 - Detention Problems

Alak's day wasn't going well. He didn't want to relate with anyone until he was able to understand the routine of his classmates. He wasn't going to blow off his temper on his first day so he only had to ignore the pesky fly on his back.
Throughout the first half of the day he succeeded in keeping his cool even if his class was unbearable.
Johnny, the star player of Willoughby High's soccer team, had been on Alak's neck forever. He kept on repeating the story of how he saved Willoughby High from total humiliation after scoring three last minute goal.
The ladies in the class were all talking about him. What do they even see in him? Sure he's handsome but he has 15 times the who of a peacock. I mean it was only one goal.... Alak thought.
He was about leaving the class when Johnny yelled, "Hey newbie, you scared? Don't worry, we've got a lot of toilet paper if you wanna cry." The other members of the class laughed and cheered him on.
You know what you'll be needing toilet paper for. To clean your nose right after I break it. Alak said to himself. He left in a fit of rage with an idea popping in his head.

Back at lunch,
"So how was your day, guys? " Artemis said. "Don't wanna talk about it. I'm sure you have some stories to share." Aeo said , taking note of Alak's mood.
"Ok. I met this girl I like and..." Artemis began. "Oh lemme guess you couldn't construct a meaningful sentence, profess your feelings or at least ask her out, " Aeo said, taking a trip down social media. "Yay! Thanks for saving my saliva,"Artemis said.
Aunt Lina had packed up some grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch but they were tempted to eat at the cafeteria so they just kept their lunches back in their bags.
"Our first day in school the last time wasn't as horrible as this... I mean...." Artemis said taking a sip from a very tasteless orange drink.
"Calm down its only out first day," Alak said. "Yeah, more like worst day........ ppuueeeehhhh!!!" Artemis said, spitting out the Orange drink.
"What'd they put in these things," Artemis said.
I think I preferred the sandwiches," Aeo said wiping his mouth with a napkin and moving the plate away. He reached into his bag along with his brothers and brought out their grilled cheese sandwiches. "Much better," he said under his breath.
Alak stared bitterly at Johnny and his friends all around him. I mean anyone can score a goal. Alak thought to himself. Johnny turned around to Alak giving a crooked smile that showed his whitened teeth.
"Hey pretty boy, why don't you come over here..." Johnny was saying. Alak was ready to hear what he was going to say until he did say what he wanted to say. ".... So I can slap your attitude right off you're face."
And the whole cafeteria rumbled with laughter.
Alak knew that exploding at a time like that would've had disastrous effects. So instead, he had a little fun. "Put your food in your backpacks. The good one that is. Trust me."
Alak picked up his cosmic lettuce salad and tossed it across the table and with a perfect aim, it hit Johnny. "Who did that?" He asked.
Alak went under the table and shouted "FOOD FIGHT!!!!"
Aeo was at the far end of the cafeteria, requesting a drink that was sweet. "Come on, did you even taste this thing?" Aeo said. That part of the cafeteria was not actually in the cafeteria so he was quite safe from the fight.
Artemis and Alak went out of there with immediate effect. They spotted some teachers coming and pretended like they were just leaving the gents and heading to class.
"What's going on here?" The Principal said walking in.
Johnny obviously blamed Alak. "It was that new kid, Alak."
But Ask wasn't to be seen. "Johnny report to my office now!" The Principal said.
"Good thing I'm not gonna have to deal with him for the rest of the day," Alak said.
After school, Roxanna and Aeo made their way to detention.
"You didn't have to walk me all the way here," Aeo said.
"It's the least that I can do. Apparently we're supposed to be here together, cos I was there first. But we could share the Wi-Fi now," she said.
Aeo reached into his pocket and brought out an object.
"What's that?" Roxanna asked as they slowed down.
"My personal Wi-Fi hacker," Aeo said. Roxanna was shocked .
"Don't tell me you've been..." She said. "Course I have, I mean what's it for?" He said amidst laughter and Roxanna's amusement.
"See you tomorrow," he said as she left.
"Aeo? You got in detention too?" Artemis said. "Yeah, and so did your friend," Aeo responded.
" What brought you here? " he asked.
"I'll tell you, only if you tell me how you got here,"Artemis said.
"Ok, you go first," Aeo offered. Artemis narrowed his eyes at Aeo while Aeo looked blankly. Elias was simply watching in amazement.
"Are you gonna talk or what," Aeo said, loosening up a bit and bringing out some humour from his mind and leftover grilled cheese sandwich from his bag.
"We were going down the halls for a quick tour and lost track of time," Artemis said, carefully watching him with every word.
"Silence! Can't you people just shut up for a bit," the teacher said. He went back to drawing the cute pig he was drawing.
"Bad day huh?" Aeo said, almost laughing. "Really bad," Elias said.
"Now tell us why you're here, Aeo," Artemis said. Aeo hesitated a little which was upsetting Artemis and making the others in detention laugh silently.
"Go on..." Artemis said.
"Um.... I don't think so," Aeo replied, bursting out in laughter and making the others laugh out loud.
"I knew that was going to happen. Just got the record. I'm not gullible," Artemis said.
"Seriously? Can't you people just shut up!" The teacher said.

Alak was getting worried.
The school has closed about 30minutes ago but Aeo and Artemis were nowhere to be found. "Lemme try calling them," he said to himself.
"Hey, Alak.... Um.... Where are you?" Artemis said.
"Don't play funny, where are YOU!" Alak demanded.
"What? We are right outside. I can see you from over here but it's kinda crowded so you can't really... Um... See me.." Artemis stammered.
"Keep that story for a new born, ok. I'm standing here in the car park."
"So?"
"There's nobody here," Alak said still trying to pull his temper together.
"Are you calling me a liar?"
"Nope, but I sure am not calling you a truther."
Artemis had nothing else to say except the truth. "Ok, I'm gonna tell you where we are but promise you make us do your dish duty, your laundry, wash the car, take out the trash when it's your turn, clean your room and bathroom...." Artemis said.
"Fine, I won't make you do any of that stuff just tell me where you guys are," Alak said noticing that Artemis was desperate.
"..... We're in detention...." He said, hanging up almost immediately to avoid the sermon Alak was gonna give him.
"Aeo there's nothing to be afraid of, ok. If he wants to do anything, he'll take it up on me," Artemis said. "Thank you so much brother," Aeo began saying sarcastically.
"He's obviously not going to do anything, so chill out."
They heard some footsteps that corresponded with Alak's movement and Artemis began chanting 1,2,1,2,1,2....
"Quit chanting Alak's movement," Aeo said.
"Why're you guys so scared of him. Isn't he your brother?" Elias said with a low tone.
"I'm not scared. Don't know what's up with him." Aeo said.
Alak came in with balled fists and arched eye brows. Sweat was dripping all over, then he felt a little satisfied when he heard Artemis nervously say: "Hi, you found us. How's it going?"
"And you are?" The teacher asked.
"Their brother. Had no idea they were in detention," Alak said looking at them carefully.
"Well sorry your brothers are criminals and they ain't going nowhere till they done with their sentence," he said with an irritated smile.
"I'm please was their offense exactly," Alak said, dropping his bag on a desk.
"Ion know. Why don't you ask them. They told me they were asked to come here and I told 'em to take a seat and keep quiet," he said narrowing his eyes at Artemis and Elias, "But they just couldn't, could they?"
"What'd you guys do?" Alak said but none of them was willing to say a word.
Just then a woman with a messy bun and cat eye glasses walked in with her hands on the shoulders of two senior students.
"Excuse me madam. Um.... Please may I know when we get out," Aeo said in his calmed voice.
"As a matter of fact..., Now."
"Now? Why?" Artemis asked.
"Because your offences were seemingly minor and because there a dozen more of these guys coming in here. So.... Bye," she said.
"But Miss O'Brien? What's the problem?" The man asked.
"Oh, Mr Lee, these guys were caught fighting outside," she said. Then she noticed that the boys were still standing and said, "well go on."
"Mr Lee. So that's his name, I tried to ask him many times," Artemis said.
