Chapter 3 - Fitting in
Artemis looked a little shy then said, "Do you mind showing me to my class? Don't wanna get lost."
"Sure. What grade are you?" Elias asked and then Artemis replied.
"No way. We're in the same class!" Elias exclaimed and Artemis smiled awkwardly.
"Shall we?" "We shall," Artemis said.
They got to the secretary's desk and grabbed their schedules. All of a sudden, Elias stopped and Artemis turned to his face to ask why he stopped.
"Why don't I take you on a tour so you'd know your way around before class," Elias said. "That'd be awesome. Thanks. I think we still have about 15minutes to spare before class, let's go" Artemis said trying to look at the schedule. "Cool!
They went all around the school and Elias left nowhere untouched. "This is our club arena," he said gesturing to the huge room they were currently standing in. There were different graffiti posters distinguishing each club and Artemis' ivy green eyes grew so wide they could've popped.
"How can you understand what you're doing here if all the clubs are in one place?" He said, still mesmerized by the how the whole place was. He saw a fencing club poster and looked at Elias, confused.
"Sound proof doors," Elias said.
"But?...The...." Artemis said pointing to the fencing club. "Oh the fencing club. All club activities have a different time and schedule. Plus we also have tournaments," Elias said. "I was so close to winning the swimming tournament championship last year. But guess it wasn't my time."
They headed out and approached the library.
"You'd love to meet my other friends. Some of them are also in the swimming club. Robin and I were a team last year." "That's nice but I don't think I like swimming," Artemis said.
"Really? I think I can change your mind." Elias said as he pointed to the swimming pool through a clear glass window.
The reflection of the pool shone in his eyes.
"This whole place is an obstacle course!" Artemis remarked to Elias.
"Yeah I know, not to brag," Elias said, like he was the owner of the school and they both laughed.
They took a few more steps down the hall and said other jokes to each other and halted at their next tourist attraction.
"This is our library," Elias said. "I don't really like reading," Artemis said following Elias inside. "Maybe you'll wanna read when you hear the sort of books we have.
Artemis shrugged.
"Sci-fi Action," Elias began.
"Aeo." Artemis thought.
"Motivational."
"That'd be Alak, but he hardly reads."
"Fairy tales."
"Pass!" He said out loud.
"Edited romantic," Elias said.
"Now that's my style. Although they should've left it as it was," Artemis said.
"Funny, you mentioned some other guys in your thoughts," Elias said. "You mean I said that out loud? Anyways their my brothers. Didn't I mention them before?" "Nope! Can't wait to meet them."
'Rrriiiiinnnngggggg!!!!!'
"That's the bell!" Elias exclaimed. "Yeah it's the second time it's rung.... Wait that's the second time! That means we're late," Artemis said. "Not just late we've missed two whole periods," Elias said running to the class.
"I'm sorry I think it's my fault," Artemis said.
"No. I also got carried away just a little bit."
"Really?"
"Ok, maybe a lot...."
Let's just hope Miss Jill isn't in class," Elias said. "Why not?" Artemis asked. A lady's voice came from the class they were about to enter. "Well, we're about to find out." Elias was not all disappointed when he saw Miss Jill in class facing the board.
"What're we gonna do?" Artemis asked. "We walk in."
"Elias, you are late. This is the first time this week," Miss Jill said. "Yes I know and it's just because I had to... Um... Show Artemis here, around." "Really? And when did you become the student with that job?" She said. Elias shrugged.
"You both get detention." "What? You don't get it. He's new here," Elias said. Not minding what he said, "Open your poetry texts to page 126...."
Elias then sighed and went to his seat. There was an empty one behind the class and Artemis went to sit there. People around him smiled and waved and he felt okay. First day of school and I get detention. What could be worse? He thought.
After class, during lunch, Aeo and Alak sat at a table and Artemis came to join them. Elias was sitting with his friends at the other side of the cafeteria. "Who's that?" Alak asked noticing Artemis looking at Elias.
"That's Elias. He showed me around." Aeo looked less concerned.

Alak had dropped off Aeo at his class and went to his. Aeo was a little surprised when the other kids were nice to him. He took a seat and relaxed a bit. He felt bored and class wasn't going to start for about another 30minutes, so he left.
He was going all around, seeing different signs and posters for classes, halls and other things. When he noticed the computer room by his side he immediately went in.
On getting inside, there was an array of computers all around. The sound of a video or something playing took him to the back of the room.
"Hello?" He asked.
A blonde girl looked up to his face and have a wide smile then she made the sign 'Ssssshhhhh!!!' She then took him to the office inside the room.
"What were you doing there?" Aeo asked, pretending to care about whatever she was doing. She coughed a little and gathered her self together. "The school has free Wi-Fi in the computer lab but not many people know. So I was using it. Although it's not stealing since I attend this school... Right?" She trying to make the boy laugh and go away.
"If no one knows, why'd you just tell me?" Aeo asked. "Cos you're new and don't anybody yet, so... I'm Roxanna. You are?" She asked.
"Good that you know that. I'm Aeo," he said about to walk away. "Don't worry. I won't be telling anyone about that okay?" Aeo said. "Thanks?" Roxanna said.
Aeo was about leaving the lab when a guy caught him. "Hey you what're you doing there?" Roxanna froze where she was and held her finger to her lips trying to keep Aeo quiet. "Um... I was.... Lost?" Aeo said.
"Mmm hmmm," the man said. "Sooo.... Detention?" Aeo said under his breath. "Good idea," the man said grinning. "Huh? No I meant detention in a metaphorical sense.... Ugh! Never mind," Aeo said.
Roxanna hit her head with her palm and shook it. Aeo came back in after the man had left. "What?" He said. "Did you just get into detention by the janitor?" She asked.
"I guess," he said. "You've got a lot to learn," she said. Aeo shrugged his shoulders. "Let's get to class," she said which scared Aeo a bit. I mean how'd she even know my class. Let alone being in the same class.
"How'd you know we're in the same class" he said a bit flattered. "Hold up, I'm no witch for starters," Roxanna said . "I was about to say that," Aeo said.
"I'm the Principal's assistant's assistant. So I have access to some information." "Ok"
So they left three computer lab and headed to class. Roxanna offered to show him around during recess and she also introduced him to the cool and popular kids.

Alak's day wasn't going well. He didn't want to relate with anyone until he was able to understand the routine of his classmates. He wasn't going to blow off his temper on his first day so he only had to ignore the pesky fly on his back.
Throughout the first half of the day he succeeded in keeping his cool even if his class was unbearable.
Johnny, the star player of Willoughby High's soccer team, had been on Alak's neck forever. He kept on repeating the story of how he saved Willoughby High from total humiliation after scoring three last minute goal.
The ladies in the class were all talking about him. What do they even see in him? Sure he's handsome but he has 15 times the who of a peacock. I mean it was only one goal.... Alak thought.
He was about leaving the class when Johnny yelled, "Hey newbie, you scared? Don't worry, we've got a lot of toilet paper if you wanna cry." The other members of the class laughed and cheered him on.
You know what you'll be needing toilet paper for. To clean your nose right after I break it. Alak said to himself. He left in a fit of rage with an idea popping in his head.
What could Alak be cooking up?
