Chapter 26 - More Than Double Trouble
"If all this never happened-" Frank began, gesticulating to the area surrounding him, "I'd prefer the city side." Presilda raised both her eyebrows in surprise. He knew she would've disapproved of his choice and that was exactly why he said so.
"What's there to love about the city?" Presilda asked. "What isn't there to love?" Frank responded.
"I don't know why you have eyes for it but I for one am a fan of the country life," Presilda said. Frank's face looked like he was going to vomit right there and then. "And you say I'm cranky."
She smiled jokingly and looked disgusted. "Don't you just love the the cows . . . , the cowboys," she began, making a strong emphasis on the word cowboys.
"Oh I see-" Frank said almost angrily.
"Oops. Are you jealous?" She continued, laughing very hard making Frank's cheeks glow blood red. "No?" He said trying to defend his unexplainable blushing.
She breathed in and out with a hint of somewhat satisfaction, like she had just sniffed in the colourful scent of roses.
Frank rolled his eyes at her as she continued describing her fantasy world.
"The horses, the ranches, the farm, the barns, the country music . . . " she continued then hesitated before saying;
"The air and sun . . . Or actual air-"
"You have the sun at disposal with a wondrous view and you're breathing? Aren't you?" Frank responded. "And, your dream life is cool but I know what I want and what I want is the city life . . . Or maybe the beach."
"Oh yeah? Why?"
"Let me tell you wifey. The freedom of the waves, the beach sand, the beach house, surfing, the skylines, fast cars, fast food restaurants, 3 course meal restaurants, seafood restaurants, crustacean food rest . . . Oh wait, crustaceans are also seafood." Frank explained.
"Great choices Frank. But its all pointless remember? It's too late," Presilda said sadly.
"Press, I already said that we'd see them soon, so lighten up . . . You don't look cute like this." "Okay. But I can't help it, they're my kids."
If there was anything she could do right there and then, it was to see, hug and squeeze her kids. It had been a very long time now and her motherly instincts and senses had set her on overdrive. Frank knew exactly how she was feeling at that point because, what could he say?
Seventeen years gone without even knowing what your children look like presently is just not cool. Though they got pictures of 'em it wasn't like actual eyes.
And to feel their touch, to know their okay, to tell them they love them!
"Don't worry Press, we'll reach out to them as soon as we seal the deal with the Klinromtite aliens," Frank assured and Presilda smiled.
The screen revealed that all continents were online and they were to be teleported to the table for the meeting. Presilda picked up a tissue from the box and wiped her eyes.
"Trixx, teleport the League of Presidents here." Frank said to the system android.
"Welcome Africa, America, Europe, Asia, Antarctica and Australia to another L.O.P meeting," he welcomed and they all made sounds in approval.
"Now, as you all know, meetings like this are only held for matters of importance. And we have a serious issue on ground," Presilda continued.
"Excuse me, but this serious issue has to do with what has been going on presently on earth, right?" A British ambassador pointed out in a spiteful tone.
This news was a bit shocking for Frank and Presilda, but what was more upsetting was the manner of speech the silly British freak spoke in.
"Disculpa, estoy perdida . . . ." A Spanish rep said and mumbled some other things. "Yo no comprendo . . ."
The fact that earth had another threat posed on her and the space defenders didn't know anything about it.
"If you're talking about the code blue emission, we know about that and that is the reason we are holding the meeting." He said, trying to get the meeting in order.
"Excuse me for a minute," Presilda said.
She pulled Frank to a corner and said, "Frank, we have to find a way to make them calm down, and bring up the matter of the recruits before we lose these guys to their own anger."
"I know that, but do you understand what the heck they're saying out there? I mean, when did the earth face danger and we didn't know about it?" Frank replied.
"I don't know but we've got to get them together," Presilda said.
They headed back to their seats with smiles on their faces like they didn't just have a serious chit chat.
"So what were you saying about the earth being in danger?"
"Don't try play funny. You want to tell us, that kidnap is unknown to you," an Asian rep said. In Frank's and he was all like. Some representative he is . . . Can't even speak his English fluently.
On normal circumstances, he wouldn't have to be acting so nice, he would just be natural but now, he was nervous, annoyed in a way and kind of irritated.
The German President got up and said, "It's not just in one sector that this kidnap has happened. It doesn't seem like a coincidence that one same man . . . Or at least we think he is, could take hostage of a series of important people around a straight line across the world."
"Can we know who these people are?" Presilda asked.
"The most famous basketball player that ever lived in the history of famous basketball players that ever lived . . . " The American President pointed out.
Frank and Presilda's confusion was uncontrolled.
But before they could even object to anything, an Egyptian said, "Let's not forget that the disappearance of those people is not the only thing that's of importance."
"Members of the African union, the United nations and other institutions have made us know that some countries have witnessed several unusual or supernatural events. But get this, it's mostly in one city . . ." The South African President said.
"Okay maybe this meeting was not such a good idea," Presilda said through clenched teeth under her breath.
"That electricity surge went haywire and left most of the world in black clouds . . . The other loud sound tampered with the world's communication satellite-" A French lady President said.
"Um, can we all calm down with all this and slow down. Whatever the matters are we'll look into it. From right now . . . " Frank began saying.
Then out of the blue, a voice says, "Mom . . . , Dad?"
Frank and Presilda turned around and Presilda fell to the ground.
"Kids?!" Frank said slowly in a light voice . . .

. . . Artemis hoped the guards who owned those shadows hadn't spotted them, but there was really nothing to be worried about because of the obvious reason of his electricity amplified speed.
After running fast enough to were he believed was satisfactory. "I think we should be okay here," he said.
"I agree, enough running. Time for a plan," Aeo said.
"I have an idea! How about we knock out the guards in that row," Artemis said, pointing to the array of guards in their opposite direction.
"Really how do you think that'll work . . . And what'll we do once they're gone-" Aeo began saying. But his brother didn't spare any moment to listen to the second sentence.
He sprinted to them, stuck out two of his fingers and let out tiny jolt of electricity, just enough to knock them out for a few.
Artemis sashayed back to where they were standing as the guards electrocuted and fell to the ground like flies. Aeo shook his head and said in an I told you so tone, "Now what."
"My bad," Artemis said, smiling awkwardly.
"Now we go," Alak said. "We can't remember. We don't know the way to . . . Anywhere," Aeo said. "Okay, you know what. Aeo, why don't you give it a shot. You're smart, tell us something smarty pants -" Alak said.
Do you know how feels to always be the one to solve a problem when you're the only one who can? Well, it sucks when you can't.
That was exactly how Aeo felt at that time. He never thought he'd actually not want to be the smartest one around 'cos though he really wanted to see his parents, he was scared of what might've been the outcome of they're ultimate death that seemed endless and full of dead ends.
Ugh!
What about if the guards imprisoned them again and this time they weren't going to get out.
All these insane thoughts were clouding the thirteen year old's mind. Oh, here's another one. What if their parents were DEAD! "Dude!" Alak said, trying to snap Aeo out of his trance.
"Huh?!" Aeo replied unconscious of his surroundings.
"Dude . . . , our parents aren't dead," Alak said. "Were you in my head? How did you do that? How did you know that?" Aeo asked, shocked that he was saying everything he was thinking.
"You were talking out loud smarty . . . As in soliloquy," Artemis said.
"Oh, I'm sorry . . . Anyways, I'm sure I have an idea," Aeo said. "What is it?" Artemis inquired. Before Aeo could even begin, Alak said;
"Why don't we just get some of their uniform clothes and you know, try to blend in."
"It's too risky cos they know each other. Aeo really had a hard time doing it that first time."
"Okay, since that's not working . . . Aeo, you were saying."
"Alak, why don't you mind control one 'a these jerks to just take us to the King and Queen A.K.A. Our mom and dad. If they wanna see us that is," Aeo said under his breath.
"Aeo!" Artemis cautioned.
"Just saying," he defended. "Ok, enough! That's a swell idea Aeo," Alak said. "Thank you," Aeo said, proudly accepting the compliment.
All that lovey dovey stuff was sickening Artemis which was completely wrong. Artemis is normally a lover of love. Some might even call him cupid himself. But his zeal and want to see his parents was enough love to make him zap Aeo on his back.
"Hey! What gives?" Aeo said.
"Focus."
