Chapter 25 - ". . . I miss home,"

The sounds around the corner where Aeo had seen those humans made him turn back. When he looked closely and heard the words, "What are you seeing? Are you getting him? Alak?"

He immediately knew he wasn't seeing things earlier. But what was up with the green head. He had to be sure of what he was seeing.

After all he has only been seeing their rearview anyway.

"Alak?" He said softly out of courage and a hint of fear.

"Aeo! You have no idea how happy I am to see . . . , where have you been?" Artemis said. Aeo smirked smartly and then said, "Thiiink." Which totally annoyed  Artemis.

He then said, "Oh, you've been on the ship, but that doesn't justify your indecisive -" "Can I just bust you guys outta here?" Aeo said.

"Well . . . I'm alive thanks for asking. So can you get us out?" Alak said, rubbing his head. "Of course, I . . . Do . . . Not," Aeo said. "Ha!" Artemis mocked.

"Ugh!" Aeo huffed in irritation and annoyance. He stretched out his left hand and let out a sonic energy blast which wasted no time in bouncing back at him.

He flew fast against the somewhat iron or metal walls, landing on his back and then sighed heavier.

"Hahaha!!!!!" Artemis and Alak laughed in a low tone.

"Quiet down, the guards could hear you," Aeo hushed. "We're sorry . . . Anyways, we really have to figure out how to get outta here."

"I have an . . . A fiery one. But it has nothing to do with actual fire." Artemis said . . .

Right outside the intruders cell hall, Aeo moved on extra heels you don't even wanna where he got and a jumpsuit like the ones those ladies who are obviously okay wherever they are had.

He coughed out and said, "Hey, um . . . Kwin . . . Cee, Rob?" Aeo said , reading his name off the name tag.

"What?" Quincy, the guard said weirdly as he had never seen him before. "The . . . Um intruders have been requested for by the King and Queen and the other guard said they aren't in there," he lied.

"Let's go!" Rob said in shock. "Sure." Aeo smirked.

"The gates are still locked so how are they gone?" Quincy said suspiciously. Aeo wasn't expecting this and didn't know what to do at all.

The surge of adrenaline in his body propelled him to say, "Where are they, the King and and want to see them," but it sounded like it was coming from outside.

"What did you say?" Rob asked and Aeo answered. " the King and Queen want to see them and they're nowhere to be found. Just open the door quick before we get into trouble with them. "

Honestly I don't know why Aeo wasn't a performing artist. He was skilled at this lying of a thing, even under pressure.

"You're right," Quincy said, opening the cell with a password, code, eye recognition, thumb print and keycard.

Aeo hesitated at the sight of so many protections, he almost forgot to tell "NOW!" Then Artemis and Alak jumped out right before Aeo blasted the guard back inside.

Alak managed to hold the door for a little while, "How are we gonna lock it?" Artemis said.

And the door locked automatically. "Like that," Aeo said.

"Nice plan Artemis," Aeo said as they ran to hide somewhere else.

"How're we going to camouflage ourselves. We've increased in number," Aeo pointed out. "How did you do it?" Alak asked. "So you need to ask?"

"Okay, so we've gotta blend in." "How Alak, we know nothing about this place," Artemis opposed. "Yeah, you're right. I mean how can't there be directions on a spaceship? How do they move around?" Alak nagged on.

"I think that's it. We need our powers. Our powers are really cool stuff and could be even cooler if we use them right," Aeo said.

"Ok, we have powers but we need a plan." He continued. "And a place to talk, I mean don't they have like a janitors closet or something," Alak added.

"Are you really asking that?" Artemis said in a relaxed voice.

"Um, I have another power," Aeo said. "Which is?" Artemis asked.

"When I was trapped in my web of lies the other time with that guard, my body went on over drive and . . . Well, I can make my voice sound very distant."

"So I'm guessing you're sound man now," Alak said. "Well, our time's running out so get that smart idea Smarty pants."

"Try looking through their eyes, it could reveal were they are," Aeo said. "I've never seen them before. And I don't want my head to blow up," Alak mentioned.

"That would've been because of the intruders cell was canceling our powers."

"Why don't I run around until I find where they are?" Artemis said. "That's a good plan." "But it won't work and we'll get caught all over again," Alak said.

"How can you tell?" Artemis asked.

"Doesn't matter. What matters is we need a new plan," Alak said. "Uh, guys I don't think we have enough time to do that," Aeo commented.

"Another objection. Why did you say that?"

"Are you like I don't know, deaf?" Aeo asked. "No I'm not."

"Can't you hear those people talking about hearing voices?" Aeo said. They didn't hear anything, he was the only one hearing the voices and now they were closer.

"What sort of trick are you playing on us?" Alak said, offended. But when they could see shadows, their eyes widened to the size of Lily pads.

"Artemis, run!" Alak shouted.

Artemis then held both their hands and ran away at super speed.

"Frank, we need to report to League of Presidents and let them know about the need recruits," Presilda said.

After their independence from the aliens, a good number of the humans went back to earth and retired from their jobs as space defenders.

Even if the job was filled with a lot of intrigue and action, many of them just wanted to be back home. That was very understandable, I mean even if you were travelling to the other side of the world, you'll still miss home . . . Let alone these guys who were out of the earth.

Those humans who left made a reduction in the number of the space defenders. And since the first invasion happened, earth had been in grave danger.

Also, when Frank and Presilda became the new rulers, they returned to earth and formed an alliance with the leaders of all the continents.

They served as an advisory board for every issue relating to earth as a whole. They were called The League Of Presidents.

It consisted of Presidents, leaders and representatives from all over the world. Every continent had their presidents and representatives that took part in decision making and abstract policy formulation.

The whole issue of the limited space defenders left them stranded in suggestions. Should the humans know about the existence of aliens and stuff?

Would it be a good idea breaking the news to them?

"I know, but it seems like a big step to take," Frank replied.

"The more reason why we should tell them. We don't have all the time in the universe . . . I mean, who knows when the next threat would come up," Presilda said.

"Oh, I see what you did there, with the whole time in the universe thing. But I guess you're right. We'll organise a meeting now."

Presilda's smile was enough to light up another planet entirely. "Thank you so much. I'll do that now."

She went ahead and made a call to Marc, their supervisor. "Marc, schedule a meeting in the hall of discussions with the League, we have something urgent to discuss."

"Ok."

"Alright, let's go," Frank said. "Not so fast honey. I've gotta get my hair fixed, and besides, their not gonna be here until let's say about an hour or so," Presilda said.

"Way to exaggerate," Frank said, heading to the bathroom.

When they arrived in the hall of discussions, there was no one there. "Told you they wouldn't have arrived," Presilda said. "Way to jinx it."

"A lady's gonna be a lady honey," Presilda said.

The silence that was swimming amongst them made Frank uncomfortable. He decided to bring a topic to break the silence.

"How do you think we would've been living right now," Frank asked an abstract minded Presilda. "Huh? I'm sorry did you say something?" She asked.

The huge screen on the wall now showed that Asia and Africa were online but hadn't answered their call. The inner decor of the room was made up with sophisticated and futuristic looking office ware.

"I was saying, how do you think we would have been living of we were still on earth. You get, cos I didn't know that we'd not be in earth right now . . . I miss home," Frank said again, almost shedding a tear.

Presilda looked at him, the look of pure sadness in her ever green eyes.

"I miss my precious babies also," she said. "Let's being them back, huh Frank?"

"No way Press, it's just too dangerous," Frank objected, only feeling the pain even more.

"But can't we even see them?" Presilda suggested.

"Now that we can do." Frank said. "But do you think they'd be ready for the news?"

"They already know Lina is their Aunt so . . . I'm guessing yes," Presilda said in a lighter mood. "Don't worry darling, it won't be long-"

Okay, so there's something more coming up next . . . Stick around.
