Chapter 14 - Stressed with lies

"Since, you know, you have electricity, why don't you shock her back to life," Alak suggested, resting his shoulder on the wardrobe. "Don't be stupid, stupid. Electricity for us into this mess," Artemis said.

"Ugh!" Aeo sighed and left the room right after yelling,

"You guys are driving me nuts."

"Huh?" Artemis and Alak asked, confused.

Aeo went downstairs to get a bottle of blood tonic and milk from the fridge with a tall glass. He placed gently on the table beside Artemis' door.

Like he did when he was at the auditions, he set his arm against the door and let out the sonic energy.

It blasted the door and landed first on Aunt Lina's back and went his brothers flying to the opposite direction of the room.

"Hey!" Alak exclaimed.

"Um... You're welcome?" Aeo said, wondering why they weren't thanking him. "How the check did you do that?" Artemis asked.

"Turns out you're not the only unusual one here. I tried explaining it to Alak the day it first happened, but he couldn't understand

"Heads up!" Aeo shouted, as he blasted across the room but this time nothing happened. "Good for you," Artemis said.

"Whatever, look she's waking up, so when she does, give her some blood tonic and some milk so her blood doesn't dry up. The doctor's on his way. And oh... You're welcome," Aeo said.

"Looks like Mr. Smarty pants saved the day," Artemis said, going over to meet his Aunt who was already getting up.

"What am I -" Aunt Lina was about saying before Artemis hushed her. "Sshh. Don't worry Auntie, let's go," he said. She reluctantly went along with him, though still bewildered by her surroundings.

Aeo was on his way back to the living room and kept turning his wrist and adorning it. He was also wondering why he could do this things but after saving the night that was the least of his worries.

"Can't wait to see what else I could with this..." He said to himself. "I'd like to see bullies try..."

The door bell rang and Alak went to open the door. A man came in with a bag and a frowned face and looked around. There was an odd resemblance of the man to someone he knew.

But the doctor equipment he was with was enough evidence to tell him that he came to treat Aunt Lina.

The man was in his pajamas( a pair of shorts and an XL top).

"Um... You're the doctor, right?" Alak asked a bit confused, mostly because of his outfit.

"Yes, he's our neighbor," Aeo said. "Oh," Alak silently gestured.

After all he had to do the doctor said, "This is really an odd time to be electrocuted, I mean, is she,... You know... mental?" While giving her her last shot.

"No she's not!" Artemis said, not trying to hide the cockiness in his voice. "... Ok, well does she sleepwalk? ’Cos if she does, you'd better keep an eye on her," he said.

"Thanks a lot sir," Aeo said.

"You're welcome. But please, never call me at this time again ever. I mean it's three in the morning," the doctor complained.

He was later on ushered out and they sought to find out how Aunt Lina was. "Aunt Lina? How're you feeling?" Artemis asked softly.

She just moved uncomfortably on the couch and was like, "It's already quite late, so you guys should go to bed," and she dosed off.

"What the...? Why did she...?" Artemis said taken by surprise.

"Leave her alone and take her to her room. The doctor most likely have her a sedative and she's going under the effect," Aeo stated in a way that meant, it was so obvious to know.

Alak and Artemis stared at each other and then said "Science!" uniformly.

"Whatever, let her just have some rest. And oh, give her some aspirin before she goes nuts," Aeo said, going back to dream land in his room.

"Yes sir!" They said jokingly, making Aeo roll his eyes at them.

The next morning, Aeo was annoyed when he woke up cos it was just 6:45.

"Ugh! This is unbelievable," he said.

He got out of the bed and went for a shower. While rushing his teeth, he fell asleep and made a toothpaste moustache.

After a frustrating experience in the bathroom and closet, he rushed downstairs for breakfast.

When he got there, he was shocked to see a furious Aunt Lina there with heavily arched eyebrows.

".... H... Hey... Auntie... L..., wh... What's up?" Aeo stammered.

"What's up, is you guys are in trouble," she said.

"Why would we in trouble?" Aeo asked.

"You are in trouble cos I can't remember what happened yesterday and I feel horrible," she said. Aeo looked at her in fright and couldn't comprehend what she was saying.

Thought she couldn't remember anything.

Aunt Lina glared at him, trying to squeeze out the truth from his mind. She'd hoped that he would break, but he wasn't as soft as Artemis at that age.

Keeping secrets was not really a thing of Artemis’. At Aeo's age, he was quite the snitch. But now he has advanced and was better at keeping secrets.

Aeo and Alak had however being harder than walnuts and coconuts.

"Did you guys have a party?" Aunt Lina asked, intensifying her glare which was presently sharp shooting at Aeo.

"You think we had a party?" Aeo said in utter disbelief with a dramatic effect. That's not even close to what we did.

"I don't know..., Well did you?" She said, in an almost sad tone.

"No.... But... um... Did you say you don't remember anything? Like, anything at all?" He said, faking his concern and dangerously trying to hide his inner excitement.

"Yeah. Do you know something," Aunt Lina asked.

"No?...... Excuse me for just a second... I've gotta... Charge my headphones," Aeo said, slowly turning around and going upstairs.

He entered into Artemis’ doorless room where he surprisingly met Alak who was sleeping funnily. From his knees downwards rested on the bed. While the rest of his body was on the soft velvet rug.

Artemis on the other hand slept upside down and took out most of the sheets.

"Wake up guys!" Aeo half shouted with enough voice to wake them but not enough for Aunt Lina to hear.

"Guys, Aunt Lina can't remember," he continued as they began to wake up.

"Remember what, Aeo?" Artemis asked in a tried tone and running the sleep out of his eyes.

"Anything, she doesn't remember anything," Aeo said.

"Where's she anyway?" Alak asked, getting up quickly.

"Downstairs in the kitchen...."

After they had freshener up and were ready to go. A fight ensued among the on on who was going to stay home with Aunt Lina.

"Ok guys, I'm staying home with Aunt Lina cos the effects of yesterday's episode could still be in her," Artemis suggested.

"Wow, Mr. Electricity who got us into this mess wants to stay home and toast out Aunt," Alak said, immaturely clapping his hands in disbelief.

"Man, you didn't just say that. Are you crazy? You think I want this?" Artemis said angrily.

"None of anything I did was intentional. Not even the shock I have you the other day. Who knows what's wrong with me and this godforsaken electricity of a thing, damn it," Artemis continued.

"I don't even want them. Supernatural stuff is in the least of my interests so why would intentionally try to fry out Aunt. This was never in my wildest dreams, so you can't blame me for what's going on," Artemis said, infuriating even more.

He really didn't want to believe that those words had escaped from Alak’s lips.

Alak was more of the guy that brought them together and now here he was, being such a stupid wimp.

"Alak, you shouldn't have said that, it was totally pointless and plainly immature. Besides, I don't suppose you're volunteering to stay with Aunt Lina?" Aeo asked, jumping in to support Artemis.

"Of course I am," Alak said in his defense.

"Ha! You can't be serious, " Aeo mocked, "the guy who knows nothing about resorsitating a person who has been electrocuted wants to auntie-sit his Aunt who has been electrocuted," Aeo mocked.

"Wow, very good pun Aeo the fool," Alak said.

"Oh yeah, that's just because you're not facing any abnormality, except for the one with your brain," Aeo pointed out.

"Exactly and you know what, I only hope your abnormality'll be worse than this."

Their argument became unbearably long. They exchanged words and insulted each other unnecessarily.

"Come on, Alak, why're you acting this way. Normally you bring us together but now it seems your anger has gotten the most of you," Artemis remarked.

They all kept quiet and pondered on the words.

"I..... I don't know what to say..." Alak began.

"Well, you can start by sayi-" Aeo snorted. "Do you have to be so antagonistic and savage right now?" Alak commented.  "No. But I can't believe you said you don't know what to say when you could clearly apolo-"

"Aeo, please let it go," Artemis said. "Fine."

"I'm sorry. Okay, I'm sorry for lashing out like that and being a total loser. I'm not sure if how to take care of you guys, now you're what you are. away

This is just my way of easing off stress. I'm so sorry," Alak confessed.

His wholehearted confession got all brothers on the climax of their emotions. Looking at each other seemed to go on forever and none of them was ready to speak.

Then, Artemis smiled and Alak immediately pulled into a tight hug. Aeo could feel tears in the verge of pouring out and quickly brushed it away before they caught him in his moment of weakness.

Alak stated at Aeo and tried to call him over. Aeo rolled his eyes and joined them.

"Okay I'm done, don't get used to this," Aeo said.

They pulled out with the speed of light and acted as if nothing had happened.

"Thanks guys. But I don't think I can go to school today. I mean, I don't really feel like it, " Artemis said, "cos I'm still not feeling too good..., " his phone beeped abruptly with a message from Elias and stopped him from finishing his sentence

It read: "I hear you're  coming back to school today. I'm right outside."

The others had gone downstairs but he stayed back to read the message.

He peeked out the window and immediately spotted door dark skinned Elias wth a high cut. He looked back into his phone and read on: "A lot had happened and so sorry for not filling you in sooner but... never mind, I'll tell you at school. FYI most of the news is mine."

Artemis couldn't hold his curiosity. His optimism had shot up to the roof and ran downstairs only to meet Judge Judy.

"Can any of you explain what happened in this house yesterday and why I can't even remember how I walked in?"

"I don't get it either," Alak said, trying to act clueless.

He had to play cool so he wouldn't say what he wasn't supposed to. After all, these abilities would only add to saint Lina's worries and besides they needed to know the source so that when they were to break the news, there'd be a reasonable explanation for everything.

"Don't play dumb Alak, why's Artemis’ door out of place," Aunt Lina asked.

Alak had memorized what he was going to say in case of a situation like this. Thank heavens he had such a compelling tone.

"Um, you were sleep... Um, walking for some reason and so you tripped over and fell on your head. We called our neighbor, Dr. Lee to come see you," Alak said.

He wasn't necessarily lying, though he added a lot of fixings and toppings but in the end, it was all a big paradox.

"Oops. Thought you guys had a party... Sorry on my side," Aunt Lina said.

"No need. Now if you'll excuse is we'd be on our way," Aeo said.

"Meaning?" Aunt Lina demanded.

"Nothing," Aeo said, thinking he and his brothers had gotten away with it, but Aunt Lina was smarter than that.....
