Chapter 13 - "Artemis... is that.... you?"

Aunt Lina came back home some hours later and was exhausted. She walked in on shaky legs and kicking off her stilettos, she collapsed into the sofa.

She was beyond happy that she was finally home and then with her tired eyes, an even more tired Alak. The corners of his eyes were black and evident with exhaustion.

He had stayed up all night thinking that she'd have come sooner. His phone was soaked, not just with water, but with no hope for it resorsitating.

It was long after his phone got drenched that he realized that it wasn't actually Aunt Lina, but a girl in his class with whom he saved her name as Aunt Lina in order not arouse suspicion amongst his brothers.

"How're you Alak?" She asked. A little groan was what his tired vocal chords could say. "Why?... Are you tired?" Aunt Lina inquired further.

"Yeah, I practically waited the whole night," Alak said.

"I'm so sorry about that. It won't happen again," Aunt Lina said, turning on the lights.

She couldn't help but notice the toaster was different, and yet, still exactly the same.

"Why's your name on the toaster? What did you do?" She asked.
"Nothing, we were just playing autographs," he said.

"Oh...kay."

"So how's Artemis now? Is he better-" Aunt Lina asked and got an instantly immediate reply: "He's fine, nothing's wrong with him, he's perfectly fine."

"Oh...kay. Anyway... I'll be in my room if you need me. And lights out by 9:30 Alak," she said.

"But it's 9:28!!" Alak said.

"9:30 Alak," Aunt Lina said, ascending up the stairs.

Ugh! When just thought I could watch T.V. Alak said in his mind.

He finally have up, went to his room and retired to bed but just couldn't get any sleep. All he could see was: Aunt Lina's dream?

Aunt Lina closed her eyes and felt a misty just of air got her face. She was drawn slowly into the mystic world of her very own.....

She appeared outside, where she had just been a few minutes ago. But this time she wasn't feeling tired as she was before, rather she was happy with a huge smile plastered across her cheeks.

Corey had just dropped her off and now she was walking elegantly down the grassy lawn, feeling the cold night's air blow through her ears.

The wind in her hair and her happiness felt like they would never end.

Her black hair glowed in the milky moonlight and as she say down at the foot of the stairs it felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders and she felt more relaxed than she had ever felt.

She heard the silent sniffing from the crying of a child. It sounded very distant but she knew the cry sounded closer. She turned around and figured out that the sound was coming from behind her inside the house.

Alak hardly ever cried and this was much too simple and soft to be Aeo's - besides he couldn't be lurking around at night except he was sleepwalking and he didn't do that anymore.

That only meant one thing.

"Artemis?" She said.

She looked up into the glass hole in the door and noticed him looking at her from the distance.

It was horrifying and fearful indeed.

"How'd he know I was there?" She asked herself .

"Aunt Lina?" He said, still sulking.

"Artemis..., Is that.... You?" Aunt Lina asked with her hand on her chest.

His formerly glowing skin was now pale, like a ghost's. She opened the door slowly and walked in, Artemis looked weaker and drenched of life.

It was terribly scary for Aunt Lina to see him that way so she chat her forward. "Hold on, I won't let anything happen to you, okay," she said.

When she got close enough, she observed that electricity was all around him. His whole body was charging with electricity.

"Artemis!!!" She screamed.

The halls she was walking through seemed longer than usual. Then she could clearly see his parents behind him. This sight already enough to kill Aunt Lina but she pressed on.

"Step back. We want him back you serpent," his mother said.

"No, you can't do this to me," Aunt Lina tried to argue.

The wall behind Artemis and his parents began to melt open and a suckage wind began to blow.

"Just give me a hug Auntie L," Artemis said, feeling even more sad.

Aunt Lina loved the boys (especially Artemis) and she didn't want to let them go but that was their parents wish and there was nothing they could do.

"Of course honey, bring it in here." She spread her hands out to hug him and immediately Artemis let out and immense bolt of electricity on his aunt.

She screamed in pain as her hair and face began to burn up slowly. Then her heart stopped and nothing else was left of her but her ashes.

Though his parents told him he did a job well done but deep down he hated what he had just done and tear dropped from his eye.

Then he and his parents were sucked into the hole and into clear space.......

........Alak woke up, well he thought he did. It was almost as if he was asleep but in the real sense he was very much conscious and his eyes were open.

He was in some kind of trance where Artemis was in trouble or something like that. The images slowly started fading out until he completely forgot the central idea of the weird thought.

Since Artemis was the only thing he could remember, he got up and went to check up on him.

When he got there, he couldn't guess whether Artemis was asleep or he was awake. "Sorry, did I wake you?" Alak asked.

"I nearly got any sleep. This is all I've gotten through out the night and now..... Why're you here anyways? I'm owing you, remember?" Artemis said.

"I'm not here about that," Alak said.

"So why're you here then?" Artemis said.

"To be honest, I don't really know," ...........

Aunt Lina woke up with huge studs of sweat on her face. The air coming from the A/C wasn't even feeling like air at all.

She had felt that her nephews hated her because she wasn't even buried properly. But when she realized she wasn't dead she remembered that it was just a dream.

"That was a horrible dream..." She said rubbing her eyes to get the sleep out.

Suddenly from nowhere in particular, she heard a voice say, Artemis and she flew out bed, as all the images of the dream came rushing back.

"Oh no."

She hurried out to check on her nephews. Aunt Lina wasted no time checking on the owner of the closest room to here - Aeo's.

He was obviously sound asleep because she could hear his snoring from outside.

Next was Artemis, she could already hear more than one voice in the room and thought he was in trouble.

'Oh my God. They're here to take him' she said to herself........

...... "I'm feeling a little nauseous and uneasy," Artemis said to a confused Alak. However, when the words, 'nauseous and uneasy' hit his ears, he took a step out of harms way.

"Alak...." Artemis continued, with electricity peering out of his eyes.

The door opened abruptly with Aunt Lina's figure appearing.

This only made Artemis more uneasy and he struck her with electricity.

"AUNT LINA!!!!" Artemis screamed and his electricity immediately cleared out. She dropped to the ground and immediately fell unconscious.

Aeo came to the door and pushed his way through, cos Aunt Lina was right in front of it.

"What's going on with you guys? Why'd you scream Aunt Lina and ruin something I care about?" Aeo asked.

When he said something I care about he meant sleep.

"Are you guys gonna answer me?" Aeo asked.

The only reply he got was his brothers eyes uniformly descending to Aunt Lina.

"Why's she on the floor? Does she still sleep walk?" Aeo said, desperately trying to win the battle he was saying with sleep.

"No? If course not," they replied, hurrying to get her up.

Nothing could happen to her at all cos if she died, that was it. Number one, Artemis would forever live with the guilt that he killed his own Aunt and only family.

Two, if she died, they had nobody else - they never met their parents and weren't introduced to any other member of their family.

Alak wasn't even old enough to work yet... And... Well... There was nothing he could do. They'd probably drown all their sorrows in good until they realize they've run out of it and then they could build horrible looking coffins with any little savings they had.

Dig up their graves themselves with the shovels they scraped every Saturday and then wait outside till they die.

Hopefully, someone nice enough would roll them into it and write some prestigious words on their tombstones.

But even though this was just their very wild imagination, Aunt Lina was not going to leave them.

Alak stood her up and get her pulse. "What? Don't just hold her and say nothing," Artemis said.

Artemis would be the most affected if Aunt Lina left. She was his confidant and therefore the one he felt most comfortable with.

"What're we going to do, sir?" Artemis said sarcastically.

"This is no time for sarcasm ok," Alak said.
