Chapter 10 - 'I'm a baaaaad guy!... Duh!'

Artemis walked downstairs lazily, went to the kitchen and brought out some oranges, a blender and every other thing he needed for his signature Art Orange deluxe.

The door bell rang and Alak reluctantly why to open it without taking his eyes off the screen.

"Come... on in," he said. However he didn't let go of the door and when he finally did and Roxanna walked in only a little, till he held it again unconsciously causing her to hit her head against the door.

"Oh, I'm so sorry about that," he said.

"No prob," she said, rubbing her head.

"Hey Roxy! Over here," Aeo called her over by waving his hand.

When she was only a few steps away from the door entrance, she heard the sharply sounding cry of, "NO!!" and the loud slamming of the door.

"Sorry," Alak said.

He was really missed of because his team weren't scoring goals, and the other team was.

Roxy silently moved in, trying not to make a sound that'd startle Alak.

I mean who would have wanted to upset a guy who was in the middle of a very important life or death match.

The last time something like this happened, it was with her uncle. While he was watching the game, she made a while lot of noise till the man told her to turn it down.

As if that wasn't enough warning.

She carried with her chit chat and made him fume and get made at her. When he couldn't take it anymore, he took her out, dropped her at the front door and then locked it.

She screamed all night long but he didn't make a move. When he finally did (which was when his team equalized), he gave her a granola bar to munch on and then go to bed.

So there was no way in hell she was gonna try it again. Let alone with someone this mad.

Aeo noticed that she didn't want to upset him and laughed inside.

"Come On, Make a pass to him.... NO!!!" Alak shouted on. "What's wrong with him?" Roxanna said. "No goal, that's all," Aeo replied. "Are you sure? Cos it seems like as though he has something else against someone."

"The only person or people he has something against is his team... Just hope he didn't bet on ’em." Aeo said, making Artemis and Roxanna laugh.

"Ok... Um so let's head to the library," she said. Although she didn't want to go, she had to  because she came up with the idea and she must've gotten his hopes up.

"Is it still necessary," Aeo said. "Say what now?" Roxanna replied in disbelief.

"I think I want to put an end to this thing finally," he said loud enough to make Alak hear. "O.... Kay.." Roxanna agreed, still in doubt. "Anything good happening this evening?" Aeo asked.

Something about Aeo's eager compliance with stopping his research fishy, but his team wasn't letting him see it. So Alak let it go, thinking he was overreacting.

"Glad you asked. There's a launch party for the new game in the arcade later on by 8pm tonight."

"You mean that new V.R game... Um... What was it called..." Aeo said. "Test Your Might?" Roxanna answered. "Yes, that one."

"Of course I'm gonna be there. What about you? Are you coming?" she said before he even asked.

"Yeah, sure. My Aunt's out... So..." Aeo answered.

"Um hmm..." Came the response. "Uh... Why did you say that?" Aeo asked, looking at her a bit confused. "With that dude around..." She said, making reference to a desperate Alak, whose cobalt blue eyes seemed to be playing the sport in tv rather than the players.

"Like I care. Besides he's not conscious when watching soccer," he said. "Look,"

The ball Aeo three landed on Alak's neck but he didn't make a move.

"See?"

"Mmm hmmm.... So you're a tough guy, like a really rough guy," Roxanna said in a sing - song manner and Aeo equally replied, "Yeah, I'm a baaaad guy." "Duh!"

"Ok, I'd better get going since we're not making that trip to the library," Roxy said.

"We could still make use of the leftover time. Would you like some Art Orange deluxe?" He asked.

"What's that?" Roxanna asked. "Orange juice."

They turned the swivel stools in front of the kitchen counter and made their order.

"Hey dimwit, make a pass to the RIGHT!... No dummy!" Alak screamed on.

"For you and ze lady?" Artemis asked.

"Qui qui," Aeo said in French. "Ha!" Roxanna laughed at his killer French impression.

"What? I did my best, I'd like to see you try it out," Aeo said, making them laugh even more.

Alak had had enough of his miserable team and left to his room. After he did, they all retired to the couch and watched a movie.
"Can I get another one of this... Um... Art Orange deluxe?" Roxanna asked a while later. "Yeah, go get some in the fridge." Artemis directed. "You should make these in juice boxes. They'll make a hit," Roxanna suggested.

"I'll try that sometime. Thanks"for

As she helped herself to some juice, her phone rang. "Hey mom,.... Ok I'm on my way." She said. "Sorry guys my mom called and I've gotta run," Roxy said sadly.

"Hope it isn't serious?" Aeo asked. "No? Just my Aunt Chester coming over. And believe me she is nothing like the jester she thinks she is. Oh, that means I wouldn't be attending the launch party." Roxanna said.

"Well that's a bummer. That means I'm not going." Aeo said. "Awwn, so much for being a bad guy." She mocked funnily.

"Ok then, see you later." Aeo said, as she left. Aeo was on his way back to the couch when Roxanna knocked and then poked her to into the door. "Don't forget about making that thing in a juice box ok. I'm dying for another one," she said, while Artemis got her another glass.

"Thanks again for the advice." Artemis said. "You're welcome."
"Bye!" Aeo and Artemis chanted. Aeo saw her leave through the window and hurried upstairs to his room. Artemis had a feeling that these two were going notice be more than friends.

Aeo came back to say: "I'm tired so please do not..." "Disturb, got it." Artemis completed. Then Aeo shrugged carelessly and ran back upstairs.

In his room, Aeo pulled out the book he had borrowed from the library and began flipping through the pages. "Ok, it says here that.... Okay.... Mmm.... This is interesting....." Aeo thought if the preamble was this intriguing he had to see what it has in the middle.

"Wow... Who would've thunk I'll see this sort of thing here..." Aeo thought. Aeo stared at his comic books and looked for some relating to electricity.

In the comics, it was all normal. Super human abilities, magic powers and the likes.

Opening his door silently, Aeo tiptoed to Artemis’ room trying to avoid any kind of disturbance to anyone. Approaching there, he knocked lightly.

On getting no answer he called him silently, "Artemis..." Still he got no response. "Lemme try calling him instead. He heard the sound of the ringtone come from downstairs so he tiptoed again. This time he found a sleeping Artemis at the edge of the couch.

"Psst, Artemis." Aeo said in a hushed tone which made his brother fall off the couch. "Hey, what's your deal?" He said, picking himself off the floor. "Please meet me in my room ASAP." Aeo said.

Wondering why Aeo was so precise with his order, Artemis followed him as if in a trance.

"What was so important, you had to wake me up?" Artemis asked, rubbing his eyes that were still sleepy.

"Just listen and answer my questions," Aeo said.

"Bossy?" Artemis said.

"Can you just answer my question" Aeo said.

".... Sure, ok."

"I need you to tell me what happened..." Aeo was about saying before Artemis said: "No, not that again."
Alak just got off The phone with Aunt Lina who told him she wasn't going to be coming home that night. "Is it anything serious or what?" He had asked. "No? Nothing serious at all," she had said. Alak wondered why his family was still wherever they were but did nothing about it.

"I can stand this quietness," he said as he proceeded to fetch his mp3.

The muffled sounds of Aeo and Artemis' voices from Aeo's room made Alak stop in his tracks. "What could be wrong now...." "My mp3 can wait." He said under his breath.

He leaned over the door with his ear plastered on it but could hardly hear a thing.

He looked around him and was lucky enough to find a misplaced glass cup in one of the tables. He placed the cup on the door and listened eagerly...

"This is what happened, I was prepared for that messed up show that I regret doing a..." Artemis began.

"I don't really need the details huh, just the facts and significant happenings." Aeo said.

"Ok, she wore a pin...." Artemis continued.

"Not that sort of fact. The sort of fact I'm talking about is the feeling you had when you were... You know," Aeo said, already pissed off and with a feeling that he was doing it intentionally.

Is Aeo being too desperate? I think so. . . Or not. . .
