Dear Mother, 

I demand that you abolish the engagement of Henry to Mia... I mean Lady Mia. If I am to assume correctly, Henry won't be of age for another year. And Mother, Henry isn't in line for a throne anywhere. What land is he supposedly going to be King of? All six of his brothers are still living, so Henry is seventh in line for his kingdom. Or was this your plan all along? I see it all now. You are sending me off to fight in a war that both Father and I probably won't return from. Once we're out of the way you're going to start running the kingdom through naive Henry? If I am wrong, please correct me for it is so hard to see you doing any of this.

I hope that this is just a simple misunderstanding. For how could you even do this? In our previous letters, you say you care for Mia but then you go and do this without her consent! What happened to your whole concept of true love? I can't even begin to understand why you approved a marriage between cold and distant Henry to the most beautiful and caring girl I've ever met. 

And yes Mother, in case you haven't realized, Mia and I are in love. I love Mia with all my heart and we hope to be married as soon as I return. She and I have been secretly engaged since I left and now you go and hand her off to someone else! Mia is beautiful, caring, kind, living, and she deserves so much more than what Henry can offer. You can't even begin to fathom how much I care for her. 

Finally, we will never go through with this. We can run away, I know a place where you'll never find us. I am ashamed to call you Mother and I am ashamed to call you Queen. I hope you reconsider.
