Chapter 5

First Day In The Village

The sun had peeked up over the horizon, though I was quite the heavy sleeper when it came down to it; also considering the small fact that the night before I had nearly been awake for twenty-four hours, that was bound to make anyone exhausted. Finally, by the time I begin to stir and wake up one could easily tell that it had been up for at least two hours, just by glancing at the position of the sun, but then again I also had Richard O'Connell as my father so I could only guess that maybe not everyone knew that sort of thing. The one thing I had always hated was scotching sand, and it looked as if today we had just meet for the first time; which unbeknown to me, the sun out here in combination with loose sand, made it extremely hot. I begin roll over off of my blanket, in which I could only assume that Ardeth had laid me against once I had fallen asleep. Though as I go to get up, my forearm had accidentally touching the against the sand. "Ahhhhh!! That's hot!!" I nearly scream as I jump up with a quickness that could of easily outmatched superman's. Ardeth would quickly come over and help me firmly to my feet as he worriedly checks over my forearm. "Well it looks a little red, but I think that you move quite quickly to avoid a sever burn." he told me gently as he applied a cool damp cloth. "That's great, but why does it get so freaking hotter out here, than in the city!?" I had yelled out a bit annoyed at the sand as if it was the sand's fault that it burned me. Though after I had said it I felt like such a child in that moment it caused a slight rosy pink blush to touch against my cheek. It only grew darker the moment that I heard Ardeth chuckling at me, it left me in disbelief for a moment, before I herd his voice; if there had ever been a moment I could believe in something more than I could see with my eyes it was when he spoke. "It's because the city doesn't have loose sand like the dessert does" his voice spoke out in a deep, heavily accented Arabic tone, though it had a huskiness to it as well. I though had also promised myself that I would ignore guys for a while, nor was I planning to stroke this male's ego any further, as I was sure he was quite the sought after man among women anyways.

I look at him a bit annyoed for laughing at me, "I am not even sure what you find so funny" I huffed out, though what I hadn't realized that I also had a pout against my lips. "Nothing, are you ready to continue on?' he asked me in that amazing god like made tone, which just seemed to make my annoyance face, along with the pout. "I suppose I am, so where are we going?" I ask him curiously as I had begun to pack up my blanket and pulled out a black shaw to wrap around my head, the heat was starting to get to me. After getting my things packed away, of course Mr. mysterious and handsome helped me as it seemed as if I was taking to long. Once he had helped me get settled back on the camel with Amun, sitting in my lap yawning 'good morning' he thought to me. "Amun, I am quite certain this is all just a dream and I've knocked myself silly from a fall in the shower or something" I told him as this was still just strange that I can hear my cat talk to me. Anyone sane would automatically think the same thing, I mean come on a cat that can talk, spiritual guide into the desert; at this point I begin to regret coming with this man, with the coaxing of my cat. In which spawned another question as I looked over at him as he got onto his camel, "where are we going exactly?" I asked, part of me was just curious because of my inquisitive nature, the other part was to make sure he wasn't planning on just killing me. Ardeth points over towards a ridge, I seemed to only be about a mile or two off of our current location; though of course to my eyes the entire desert just looks like one barren landscape, which made me wonder about how anyone could even find their way around in it. "Just beyond this ridge about three miles is the encampment of the village Elkna. We will trade out camels out there as well as pick up supplies for the rest of our trip." he informed me of the plan, though that wasn't exactly what I had been asking. "well that is all well and good, but what is our ultimate destination?" I asked once more, having made sure to be more clear this time.

Ardeth would look at me, a deep serious look against his face, more as if he had been thinking something "well that my dear is the surprise, your not allowed to know, but let me assure you that you don't need to worry over your safety, it is my sworn duty to protect you" he said as if that would really be an acceptable answer for me. Though instead of waiting for me to argue with him over, what he obviously knew was a very vague answer to give me, he would move his camel forward "Come along now, little one" he said, making me pout and frown at him "I am no little I'll have you know I am closing in on my eightieth birthday" I retorted with a huff. "so in other words your still little" he told me as a deep smooth velvety wrapped in silk chuckle came out from him. While it made me want to melt, but at the same time it infuriated me to no end; it felt like he did it just to antagonize me even more. "Well if I am so little what makes you then? oh that is right old" I said with a childish pout against my lips. "While I consider myself mature, I wouldn't exactly call thirty that old" he told me with a slight smirk, causing me to shake my head. "Nope that defiantly classifies you as old" I said in rebuttal as I lifted my chin and nose towards the sky. The teasing back and forth carried on until we soon came to the village of Elkna, which honestly look nothing more than a freaking tent farm to my eyes. It sat down in a little valley like place, and surprisingly they even had a natural spring that ran though it; of course there were the tents, all varying in size, while the color remained an off white color. They had even been cooking some delicious food over open fires, while their cattle and flocks chewed against the bit of grass that was growing on the banks of the stream.

Ardeth though would slow us down to a really slow pace, leaning close to my ear "While we are here you must stay close to me at all times, and if any male talks or pesters you just let me know, and if anyone corners you, just tell them your my bride" he said with quite the serious tone. This earned him a deep gulp from me as my face flushed a deep scarlet red at such a thing to say. "Ok-Okay" was all I could mutter out after those words, causing a bigger smirk than before he laughed a bit "your still little, seeing as such things still fluster your, quite a bit it seems" he told me as we made our way to the exchange spot for the camels. This all left me with the biggest pout ever that I have ever given to anyone, "I am not little!" I had huffed out, before we left the camels at tent of the exchanges, with the promise of having two camels ready for in the morning. Afterwards, I would glance around at the other tents and notice a few things that caught my eyes, apparently Ardeth had noticed this, "would you like to look around Alxiea?" he asked me gently, to witch I would nod a bit. Amun was curled up around my shoulders, as we walked along, a few women would give me a few strange glances. I could only assume because of my clothes as they were much different than their long dresses and coverings, causing me to feel more self conscious. Though just as I was starting to feel that way a kind woman came up to us as she held in her hands the most beautiful dress for me in her arms "I would like you to have this, then you won't feel as uncomfortable as you look" she said to me with a small giggle "my name is Isha, if you need anything while your here please don't hesitate to ask me" she told me kindly as she handed me the dress. "Thank you very much Isha, I am Alxiea, and this is Ardeth" I introduce ourselves, as Ardeth bowed his head in greeting, before smiling lightly.

Once I had finished talking to the woman who I felt like was my first real friend, who didn't want something from me, left me with the largest smile on my face. "Alright I have to get us set up for our tent for the night" he told me before leading me towards the tent rentals. Once there I had been so enthusiastic to try on the dress that I hadn't realized Ardeth had already paid for the tent. "Come along, little one" Ardeth's  voice called out to me breaking me out of my thoughts, with a pout across my lips "I am not little, stop calling me that, I have a name" I said with a slight frown, knowing that this maybe a continued happening and I needed to set him straight. Ardeth just chuckled a bit, leading me towards a tent, that seemed to be at the end of the encampment, which seemed not to bother him much, but Amun didn't seem to like it a his tail began to sway a bit in an annoyed manner. "I'll let you get changed, I'll just be right outside here if you need me" Ardeth spoke kindly to me; giving my head a light nod I would enter in the tent finding two makeshift bedded hammocks and a small little table to eat at for dinner, which reminded me that I was quite hungry. 'I need to see if we can't get some food' I thought to myself as I began to change into my new dress. The  dress itself  was form fitting, against my curves, with shear and lace that was black in color, with lacy golden trim. Along with some bracelets and a beautiful golden anuk necklace. Isha had even did my make-up for me, prior to coming into my tent; which was the most beautiful gold and light brown to acent my natural features.

"Alright I am all changed" I called to Ardeth as I stood in the middle of the tent, he would enter inside and look at me with an awed look, which caused me to blush darkly "what does it look bad?" I asked him in a concerned tone, but he just chuckled at me more "not at all little one, in fact it is perfect for you" he told me with a soft smile. "Stop calling me little...and oh okay, thanks I guess then" I said with a slight blush, before shaking it off remembering that I really was quite hungry "Ardeth, what are we planning to do for food?" I asked him curiously. "Well I planned on buying some supplies for food in the morning, but as for tonight I am going to get some now, and bring it back" he told me with a light smile. "So stay here and I will return with hot food for you" he said giving my head a light pat, before leaving me and Amun to ourselves. I would sigh softly as I sat down at the table. "I wish he would stop treating me as if I am a child, and would actually tell me where it is he is planning on taking me to" I told Amun with a frown. 'well what do you except when your still acting like a child over things' Amun thought to me, which just made me feel more annoyed as it just seemed that more and more of this was something out of a book or a movie. "I am not a child! I can't help the fact that I get shy, besides I am not convinced in the slightest that any of this is real" I told him with a huff.

Little did I know though that there was a group of men, who had been watching our every move since we had entered into the village, mostly due to having had some sort of grudge against Ardeth. I was pacing back and forth in our tent when Amun gave a low growl and hiss at a man who had entered through the back of the tent "well, well, well, what do we have here, a little girl left all unattended to" the male, who was covered head to toe in nothing but black, called out to me. This caused me to jump from the sudden start of his voice. "W-Who are you??" I questioned with a hint of fear in my voice, which didn't help with my confidence out look on things. Much to my more surprise he would quickly be in front of me, before he grabbed against my arms tightly, quickly turning me around and covering my mouth with a white piece of cloth. "Hey let go of me!!!" I try to break free from the male's grasp, but I can't the grip on me is so tight, in combination with what I could only assume was chloroform covering it, I slowly begin to give into the feeling of unconsciousness.  As the drug begins to take effect on me, I think to myself ' did I come this far to be killed or taken or even raped. Amun!! help me....go get Ardeth and hurry please!' Amun realizes I'm in danger and quickly darts out from the tent ad quickly goes in search of Ardeth, who wasn't to far from returning to the tent. Amun would quickly jumps onto Ardeth's shoulder and looks at him in the face "Calm down you will get food to" Ardeth said with a soft chuckle "no you idiot, Alxiea has been kidnapped" he told Ardeth, who was also having a slight moment of the cat actually verbally speaking to him, right before his words registered into his mind.

Once Ardeth had done so he darted towards the tent to only see my struggling form being dragged out from the back and the male dragging laughing darkly as he left with me. I look up and see Ardeth is the distance and I reach out to call after him. My eyes are so blured by this point I can only whisper "Ardeth..." before I completely black out.
