A/N I'm so sorry I didn't update on Monday, I just got out of the writing swing and was not feeling it:(-Piper
"Where is he?" I shouted, "Where is Riley?" All the doctors and nurses turned to stare at me. "Where is Riley, the boy, and my best friend and boyfriend, who got hit with a motorcycle?"
"Oh, he's right this way, miss," a delightfully kind nurse said, directing me to the end of the hall, "Last room on your left."
"Thank you," I smiled. Quickly turning towards the direction of the room, I sprinted off. I had been worried about him since the ambulance said only one person could ride with him, which of course since his mom got there before the ambulance did, his mom went with him. When I got into the room, he was laying on a bed, and his steady heartbeat in the machines was all there was to hear. A nurse was writing something down on a notebook.
"Um, sir?" I asked. The nurse turned to look at me.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"Riley's best friend since birth and current girlfriend, hi there," I smiled with a wave.
"Oh," he replied.
"Well, what's wrong with him? Is he asleep or is he-"
"He's in a coma," the nurse interrupted, "He has a few broken bones, but mainly many scratches and bruises. That motorcycle was going pretty fast."
"Yeah," I breathed, "When will he wake up?"
"There's no knowing," he answered, "It could be hours, days, weeks, even. The longest probably would be a few months."
"A few months?" I asked, leaning back in a chair with defeat.
"That would be the longest, it could only be a few hours, we don't know," the nurse replied, "I'm sorry." And with that, the nurse walked out of the room. I looked over at Riley. His face was so serene, other than the scratches and bruises covering it.
"Riley, I wish you were awake," I said softly, "I wish I could hug you. I wish I could tell you how much I want to be with you forever. I wish you weren't hurt. Please wake up soon." I sat down in the chair next to him and leaned my head on his shoulder. I could feel him breathing, but it didn't seem real. It felt like he should have been gone. But he wasn't. And for that, I was eternally grateful.
