  You observe as the man takes out your captors one by one. His moves were swift, and he quickly unlocks the handcuffs which were binding your hands together.

He offers his hand out to you, and you just stare awkwardly at it. 

"I'm Steve Rogers, I'm here to help you. You can trust me." He assures, nudging his hand forwards once more. You hesitate.

"Trust?"

Trust was a word you were not comfortable with. You have heard it many times, but the word has never lived up to what it truly means. People have promised that you could trust  them, but can you? The last time you trusted someone, you ended up in handcuffs. 

You become startled as the back door erupts with more soldiers, and Steve quickly grabs your hand and drags you with him.

You run absentmindedly with him, not knowing where you were heading. He leads you to the Helicarrier, rushing you inside.

You sit down, still unsure of your surroundings and what was happening. A man dressed in black approaches you, sitting down beside you. 

He offers his hand to you, and you still hesitate. He pulls his hand back as he notices your timidity. 

"Alright then. I can tell you're nervous, Miss Jade. Don't worry though, we won't hurt you." The man smiles, holding his hands behind his back.

"How can I believe you? The last man who said that kidnapped me!" You hiss in response.

He sighs a bit before responding, "Because I'm the director of SHIELD. Surely you've heard of us?" 

You think to yourself. It was true you had heard that name before, you just couldn't remember where. Then it suddenly dawns on you that your captors had brought up the name SHIELD before.

"The men who captured me... They were talking about a plan to infiltrate SHIELD. That's all I remember though." You explain.

"Those men are from HYDRA, an organization who wants to fight against SHIELD. You can trust me when I say we're the good guys." 

Trust. There's that word again. 

You nodded, still unsure of yourself.

Steve was exiting the Helicarrier, as you tap on his shoulder. He turns around to see you, and smiles. You walk beside him.

"Look I'm really sorry  for how I acted earlier. I should've thanked you for saving me." You apologize, glaring at the ground as you walk.

Steve chuckles then smiles. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure I would be nervous about a random stranger who just took out five men offering me their hand."

You smile with his response, feeling comfort with this man. Perhaps you could trust him?

As the months passed, you strictly stayed by Steve, never leaving his side. For the most part, he wouldn't mind. Until one day he would finally become annoyed.

"I'm sorry, Jade. But why do you keep following me around? There are other places you could go other than following me like a lost child." Steve snaps, making you jump.

You weren't sure how to respond. "You're the only one I-. Never mind. You're right, I'll just go." You murmur as you turn towards the door.

Steve could see the hurt in your eyes. He immediately regretted his words. "Wait!" He calls after you.

You turn around without words. Steve sighs and says, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lashed that at you. I'm just not used to people following me around. I'm normally the one doing the following. But is there a reason you're following me?" Steve slightly smiles.

You nervously brush a strand of hair out of your face before replying. "Well you see I have never been able to trust anyone. They'll fill my head with small lies and worthless promises. And you, when you first said that I could trust you, I didn't believe you. But now I see that I can, and I don't want to ever lose that." You explain.

Steve warmly smiles, then engulfing you in hug. You rest your head on his shoulder.

"I don't want to lose you either. And believe me, you can always trust me."

A/N

Just a little suggestion for any other writers out there who may be going through Writer's block, I strongly suggest listening to the Attack on Titan soundtrack. Even if you don't like the show, the album is fantastic! It's great for writing dramatic scenes. (The album is by Hiroyuki Sawano)

I feel bad now that I'm reading over the request and realizing I've left out her abilities... Sorry about that.
