9/11 Memorial
(Artwork is MY OWN, and this is in honor of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11!)
"Today is a sad day." Steve stated.
"Why?" Thor inquired. The Asgardian wasn't fully educated on Midgardian history.
"Well, Thor, today is the day four planes changed history." Clint stated.
"Yeah, it's 9/11." Peter added.
"9/11?" Loki questioned.
"Two planes hit the Twin Towers, which used to stand tall. Within minutes, both towers were gone. A plane also hit the Pentagon, and the fourth plane tried to hit the White House, but the passengers took control, and the plane landed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania." Bruce explained, "About three thousand people lost their lives."
"Oh... that is rather... tragic..." Thor stated, frowning. "I cannot imagine the fear and terror those brave souls faced."
"That's why we, as the Avengers, help those memorials. We donate money, or whatever needed to those memorials. Bruce normally makes artwork, we place it in honor of those lost." Tony stated.
"Bruce can draw?" Loki questioned.
"Like a fucking artist." Steve responded.
"Language, Cap!" Natasha teased.
"I presume we are going to that memorial today?" Thor asked.
"Yes. It's sorta a tradition now." Peter responded.
"Yeah, we do it every year." Sam nodded.
"Wait, which memorial? The NYC one, or the Pennsylvania one?" Loki asked.
"Both." Tony replied, "We go to both. Why go to just one, when the same thing happened in another spot?"
At the Twin Towers memorial, Bruce glanced at Thor. "You good, Blondie?" He asked.
"Yes, I just can't fathom the deaths those on the top stories must have faced. No exit, no way out." Thor nodded.
"Yeah, it's tragic." Natasha nodded.
"So many people lost loved ones, and so many lost their lives." Steve frowned.
After they paid tribute to both memorials, they left Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and went back to New York.
"Y'know, I wished they told us the entire story in school." Peter stated, "All they teach us is like two pages worth, and nothing else."
"Seriously?" Clint asked.
"Yeah." Peter nodded, "It's total BS in my opinion."
"It is." Steve stated, "They should educate you on history better."
"Those people deserve to have their story told." Loki agreed.
"What all do you know about 9/11?" Tony asked.
"Uh, just about the planes crashing into the four areas; the Towers, Pentagon, and the field in Pennsylvania. That's it." Peter stated.
"Well that's bullshit." Steve remarked.
So, that night, the Avengers educated Peter on 9/11, including first-hand witnessing from Bruce, as he watched the Towers get hit and fall. Peter bawled during part of the lesson.
(RIP to all those brave souls who perished on September 11th, 2001! May you all rest in peace, and may those Towers stand tall in heaven!)
