Summary " Dating the winter soldier wasn't easy but you still made it work. This is a one shot about him having a nightmare and then you comforting him.

Tossing and turning in the sheets, sprawled on the bed was your boyfriend. You had been dating him for a couple of years now. Stark was now begining to understand why the winter soldier wasn't wrong, he began to realise that it wasn't Bucky who had killed his parents but Hydra did, through Bucky's body.

Thanos was defeated and miraculously, Stark and Natasha were still alive. Captain America had stayed back and was currently dating the red haired assassin.

Loki had redeemed and confessed that he had faked his death in the infinity war so as to save his brother. He had now joined the Avengers but let's just say everyone was still weary of the trickster.

By some experiment stark had revived vision and let's say Wanda hugged the life of out stark when he showed her, her boyfriend.

You were fast asleep in the bed shared by your boyfriend in his room in stark tower. When Steve came ton know that you, a new recruit to the spy club had finally captured his best friends heart, he was very happy. You did get a bit of a warning as to not hurt him or trigger him  by Blondie but nevertheless he was happy for both of you.

Steve considered you as a sister and whenever you were on a mission with him and were away from Bucky, Steve made sure you came back on one piece with least damage. No one wants to deal with an angry James Buchanan Barnes.

You and Bucky first met, when fury introduced you to the team. Of course when you first met, Bucky hardly spoke to you, but one one particular movie night you and Bucky were sitting together on the couch and you fell asleep and your head fell onto his shoulded. He went rigid and tense at first but after a while he just relaxed. He even carried you back to bed and tucked you in. Slowly your friendship bloomed and you began dating each other.

Once it was clear that you and Bucky were a unit, everyone in the tower began to tease you guys, specially due to the fact that Bucky was always clinging onto you.

Now also I'm his sleep, his metal arm was holding your body close to his while his flesh arm was under the pillow. A shrill scream woke you up from your wonderful dream, you were scared and your heart was pumping at a very high rate. You looked around for the source of  the scream only to look up and see Bucky sweating and shaking with his face buried in his hands.

"Bucky, baby, are. You okay? What happened? " You asked as you sat up and gentlly pried his hands away from his face.

Bucky just looked at you with tears streaming down his face. The sight shattered your heart into a million pieces.

Wordlessly you pulled him into a hug and almost instinctively he buried his face in you neck as he began to let his tears fall freely. In an attempt to spot he him, you patted his back, rubbing your hand up and down. His broad back while the other hand played with his hair.

"Ssh.. Everything is okay... It was just a dream... I'm safe.. You're safe... We are all safe" You said softly as you rocked him back and fourth.

"I saw that that Hydra had captured you and tortured you brainwashing you... Such that you know longer remembered me" He said between the sobs.

"Ssh.. It was just a dream... Hydra was eliminated last year when Thanos snapped. It's okay.. I'm here.. You're here" You say as you kiss. His hair. Soon his sobs turn into hiccups till they eventually stop.

"Okay Bucky, tell me 5 things you can see" You say

"You, my arm, a lamp, the bed and our pillow" He replied

"4 things you can hear"

"Your voice, the owl outside, a plane flying over our tower and some insects"

"3 things you can feel"

"You, your heart beating, my heart beating"

"2 things you can smell"

"Your hair and your natural scent"

"1 thing you can taste"

"My tears" He replied

This was a small exercise you did to calm. Him down whenever he had a nightmare or a panic attack.

"Feeling better? " You asked and he nodded

"Want to sleep or would you like some tea? " You asked

"Could I have some tea? " He asked and you nodded

"Of course babes. " You said as you kissed his head and stood up.

Bucky followed you to the kitchen and watched as you began to make the tea. You handed him his cup and took yours as you and he walked back to your floor to his bedroom. On your way, you saw Steve and Nat making out in the corridor. So as to protect your eyes from witnessing something you can't in see and to give them privacy, you pull Bucky and hurry into his room.

Bucky laughed lowly, when he realised why the blush was adorning your face.

"You know last night when were doing that unholy stuff in the kitchen,.... I don't know if you realised but Steve walked in on us and left red faced... I think. this is there way of revenge" He said and you blushed even darker.

"Shut up" You whinned.

Both of you drank your tea in silence and when you were some Bucky kept both the cups on the study table across the room.

"Did I ever tell you that you're too. good to me" He asked as he laid down pulling you on his chest and hummed in response

"You're so patient and when everyone was weary of me and thought I was going into the winter soldier mode... You were the only one who wasn't scared of me and you're the only reason why I have embraced my life. Your so kind and selfless and that one the things I fell in love for with you"he said as he kissed your hair

"You know why I fell in love with you" You asked as you leaned up to look at him.

He raised his eye brows in a questioning manner

"Why? " He asked

"Because in knew deep down below this rough grumpy exterior, there was marshmallow heart waiting to be loved" You said smiling.

Bucky smiled brightly before sitting up with you in his lap and began to kiss you softly and passionately. It wasn't a needy kiss but a kiss which conveyed how much he loved you.

Finally at around 3 am both of you fell asleep I'm each other's arms with no nightmares.
