Chapter 1: A New Alliance

Phil Sheldon: Five years ago, The Avengers paraded dangerous, untested technology, causing damage on an unprecedented scale. Our beloved Captain America and Leviathan were killed during the attempted theft of this technology. Thousands of other innocent people died. And many more still bear the scars of what has come to be known as A-Day. Hundreds fell sick, encased in strange cocoons, only to emerge with dangerous, otherworldly powers. With no known cure, the disease has spread across the country. And while both SHIELD and the Avengers promised to rectify the situation, it was Dr. Banner's testimony that brought about the end of an Era.

Senator: You so called heroes transformed San Francisco into an infectious, gas filled quarantine zone. You unleashed diseased powerful beings, that wreak havoc throughout our nation. Many still lay dormant, unidentified. So I ask you again Dr. Banner, do the Avengers pose a danger to society?

Bruce:....yes.

Phil Sheldon: Their activities outlawed; the once mighty heroes disbanded. But out of tragedy is born hope. After the government liquidation of Stark Industries, Dr. George Tarleton, himself a victim of A-Day and founder of Advanced Idea Mechanics, thinks science is the solution to our nation's problems.

Tarleton: I wish I knew what happened to Captain Rogers and Maria L/N that day, but I was no where near the reacter room. I don't have those answers, but I can promise you this. I will use this second chance to make you safe. AIM will find a cure for the Inhuman Disease.

Phil Sheldon: Comforting words to those families torn apart by the disease. But is he too confident? Many criticize AIM's tactics. This so called "Resistance" army grows stronger everyday. This is Phil Sheldon reporting live at the A-Day anniversary.

Suddenly, the TV turned off.

Hailey: Hey!

Aunt: You shouldn't be watching that stuff. You should be getting ready for bed.

Hailey pouted before she sighed. She moved her joystick forward and the wheelchair she sat in moved. She navigated her way around the furniture as her aunt watched her. She then looked around the apartment.

Aunt: Where's your brother?

Hailey: Probably in his room again. Want me to get him?

Your aunt shook her head. She knew better than to try and get you out of that hobbit hole. Besides, you always wanted to be alone on this day. The day the Avengers failed. The day you lost your mother. The day you failed to save your sister from spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair.

You were laying on your bed, torn jeans and a F/C shirt. Your hair had gotten a bit long and it was hardly ever combed. Bags had formed under your eyes due to the ever increasing lack of sleep. Earbuds were in your ear as you listened to your music. There was a knock on your door causing your to sit up.

Y/N: Yeah?

Aunt: Hey, uh, I'm going to bed now. Try not to stay up too late.

Y/N: Yeah. Ok.

Aunt: Also, Nadia called earlier. You should shot her a text, or something.

Y/N: I'll do that.

It was silent for a moment before you heard your aunt walk away. You waited for a moment before you decided the coast was clear. You stood up and reached under your bed where you pulled out a duffelbag.

Y/N: Let's hope AIM isn't partying tonight.

You opened the bag and pulled everything out. You pulled on the jean jacket with the F/C patch before you pulled on the combat gloves you had found at a shop. Finally, you pulled out a wrist gauntlet. The replica Tony had made for you. You threw on your hood, pulled on your sneakers, and opened your window.

Y/N: Ok, Jersey City. Here I come.

You lifted up the red bandanna and stared at it for a moment. This was the only thing they found in the wreckage. You clenched it in your hand before you looked out at the city. You got the bandanna and tied it around your neck before you pulled it up over your nose.

You climbed through the open window and closed it behind you. Hailey would know if there was a breeze so it was better to play it safe. You sighed before you turned back to the city. You climbed up the fire escape before you reached the roof. From there, you could see your destination. Hero Park.

You looked up and grabbed a hold of the line that reached from your building to the one next to it. You rode it down before you jumped off and hit the gravel. You began to lightly run as you leaped between buildings.

You reached a point where you were need to get to a higher ground but, you had done this before. You jumped and reached your arm out. The grapple shot out and attached to the ledge which you used to get to the next roof.

You landed and looked around before you noticed more AIM drones than usual.

Y/N: Weird. Must be a stray Inhuman running around.

You shook it out of your thoughts and turned back to the park. You made one more jump which landed you on a roof that was tilted. You slid down it before you reached the edge where you jumped off. You walked around toward the entrance which was closed.

You looked around to make sure no one was watching before you shot out your grapple. You used it to pull yourself up and you leaped over the brick wall. You landed onto the muddy trail and stood back up.

You walked down the path with your hands in your pockets. As you walked towards your destination, you saw what remains of the once lively park. Statues of the Avengers that once stood tall, were no fragments and reminders of a nightmare. They even had a wall for all the missing Inhumans.

You never came here as a kid since you actually lived with the Avengers but, after that day, you made sure to come here at least once a year. Broken statues or not, these people were once your family. But now, AIM was tearing it down to build their new clinic.

You finally reached a part of the path that was lit with candles as you neared your goal. Finally, it came into view. Two statues, side by side, untouched unlike the others. Candles were lit at their feet and in the middle, Thor's hammer. He had left it here when he gave up on being a hero.

The statues were of Captain America, and your mother. You walked over to them and looked up at their faces.

Y/N: Hey guys. Long time, no see.

You looked down at the candles at their feet. Someone was here recently. You heard some movement and looked over to see that it was a boy who was lighting all the candles.

Zak: Hahaha. Give me that!

You turned around when you heard other teens laughing. You hid off to the side at an angle where they wouldn't see you as you watched them. The boy in the leather jacket, Zak, took a drink from the bottle he was holding. The boy who was lighting the candles looked nervous. The three looked at the statues and the boy decided to leave. Zak moved his arm out to stop him.

Zak: Hey, hey...where you goin'?

Liam: Ah, home.

Zak: Really? We just got here. Hey, wanna drink?

Zak held out the bottle towards the boy as his friends surronded him.

Liam: Nah, no thanks.

Zak lowered the bottle and looked at Liam.

Zak: What, are you paying your respects?

Zak tossed the bottle aside and it shattered at your mother's feet. You clenched your fists in anger at his disrespect.

Liam: I'm just taking a shortcut, that's all fellas.

Zak: Ha ha.....shortcut. Right. Cool lighter.

Zak pointed at the blue lighter in Liam's hand. Busted.

Zak: So, you want 'em back, huh? So they can kill more of us?

Liam: What? No.

Zak: No? No?

Liam: No.

Zak: What is it, then, hrm? Inhumans get you going?

Zak pushed the boy's shoulder.

Liam: Come on fellas.

Zak: Stupid sympathizers!

Zak pushed Liam again which sent him to the ground. Ok. Time to step in. You moved to interfere, but you were beaten to the punch.

???: Stop!

You froze when you saw a girl appear from the darkness. She wore a black Ms. Marvel shirt over a white long-sleeve. Her pants were rolled up to her mid calf and she had a sachel with a red scarf hanging from it. She looked, oddly familiar. She then reached out her hand to Liam.

???: Are you okay?

Liam just sat there confused.

Bully: Hah, Candle Kid's got a girlfriend.

He then noticed her bag.

Bully: Zak, check out her bag.

???: What?

Zak walked over and examined the bag. He shook his head as he grew frustrated.

Zak: What the hell is wrong with you people?

Liam: I just want to go home, ok man?

Zak quickly shit him up by kicking him in the face.

???: What are you doing?!

Zak ignored her cry and pointed at Liam.

Zak: My kid brother was there on A-Day. He wrote some dumb stuff about Captain America.

Liam: It wasn't Cap's fault.

Zak: It's all their fault! He turned all freakish and purple. And they took him away!

Liam cried out in pain as Zak kicked him again.

Bully: Hey, take it easy.

Friend: Zak, enough dude!

Zak: Now he's dead!

He kicked the boy again in the gut and you stepped out as the situation escalated.

???: Stop!

Zak: He's dead!

You reached out to grab the teen as he kicked Liam again.

???: I said...STOP!

You quickly backed up when the girl pushed her arms forward. But, they grew. They grew large and her arms stretched out to push Zak against the statue where he landed. Zak's friends turned towards the girl in horror as the backed away.

Bully: Get back! Sh-she's one of them!

The girl exuded a shocked sigh as she looked at her hands.

Friend: Don't let her touch you! We've gotta go!

The two teens rushed over to Zak and began to help him up as you stood there in shock at the situation. You looked over to the girl as she shook her hands to make them go back to normal. You both watched as the trio left and you turned back to her. The girl turned to Liam and reached her hand out.

???: Come on, let's go.

Liam: Don't touch me!

???: What?

She looked confused. She quickly reached into her bag and pulled out a red flash drive and held it up for jim to see.

???: Um, you're Tiny Dancer, right? What do I do with this?

Liam: What are you talking about? Please...just let me go!

Suddenly, there was a beeping sound. You looked up and saw an AIM drone flying over head. That can't be good. Liam quickly got up and ran off past you.

???: Hey...?!

You shook your head to focus as you rushed over to the girl.

Y/N: Come on. We need to go. Now.

The girl looked at you confused.

???: Who are you?

Y/N: I'll explain that after we escape. Come on.

You grabbed her wrist and pulled her along as you ducked behind a barrier for cover.

Y/N: We have to go.

???: If they catch me, it'll be my picture they're putting on that wall.

Y/N: Then let's go.

You and the girl rushed over to move behind the stone benches as you snuck around to avoid being seen by the drones. You spotted a pathway and nodded.

Y/N: Once we get to that path, make a sprint for it.

The girl nodded and your took a deep breath. You and the girl ran over to the path and broke into a sprint. Drones were flying everywhere but you were safe. You reached an area where a statue of Black Widow stood before you heard footsteps. You and the girl ducked behind another barrier as two police bots rushed through.

???: Not going where they're going.

Y/N: Good idea.

A group of four police bots entered the area and began to look around as you and the girl transversed your way around to go where they were coming from. You passed through the gates and entered the area where the statue of Thor was. More police bots.

???: Think Kamala. Think. Somewhere they won't find you.

You raised a brow. Kamala? That sounded familiar. Whatever. Focus. She was right. You needed to find a place to go where the drones and bots won't find you. Suddenly, you had an idea. A, very, gross idea.

Y/N: Sewers.

Kamala: Sewers? Hope these guys don't swim.

Y/N: Me to. Come on.

You moved out of hiding and stepped into the water that was at Thor's feet. The dark, green, smelly water. This was the worst.

Kamala: Oh, ew...

Y/N: This is probably better than getting caught. Probably.

The water reached your waist as you and Kamala made you way towards the drain. You passed through the gate as you tried to stop yourself from gagging. It smelled like rotten fish and diapers.

Kamala: Sewer lizards, here I come.

Y/N: Please don't say weird crap like that.

You both reached a point where the drain went down. You and Kamala climbed over the small stop point but you failed to notice the water running down. You and Kamala slipped, and slid all the way down. The entire time, sewage flew all over you. You both landed in a giant pool of it.

Kamala: Oh no, this is way more ew.

Y/N: I'm gonna barf.

Kamala: Not in the water!

AIM Robot: A drone detected movement in the sewers.

Monica: The get down there. Now.

You and Kamala froze at the woman's voice.

Kamala: We're about to have company...

Y/N: We need to move faster.

You and Kamala moved through the water faster as shadows of the robots overhead passed by the walls.

Monica: I want to know as soon as you see them.

Kamala: Oh no...they're cutting through!

Y/N: Shit! Hurry.

You finally reached the end of the water and climbed out. You helped pull Kamal out as well before the two of you began to run through the sewers.

Y/N: You know, I really wished we had some half shell heroes right about now.

Kamala: Or any hero.

You finally reached a spot where a blue dumpster was blocking a hole in the wall. That was your way out. You moved over and grabbed a hold of the dumpster before you slowly pulled it out of the way. You let go and moved over to the hole.

Y/N: Ladies first.

Kamala ducked through and you followed. You both made it outside where you found an AIM ship laying dormant. Suddenly, there was a cloud of purple on top of it. Standing there, an an AIM soldier. You quickly grabbed Kamala and pushed her up against the wall in an attempt to hide both of you.

Y/N: AIM's got Inhumand looking for you to?! Who can teleport?!

The soldier teleported away and you let go of Kamala. The two of you rushed over to the ledge where there was a large gap between you and the next platform.

Y/N: Ok. You can stretch your arms, right?

Kamala: Yeah.

Y/N: Good. Use those rods sticking out on the side to swing yourself over to that next area.

Kamala: What about you?

You pulled down your sleeve and showed her your wrist gauntlet.

Kamala: They're like Leviathan's.

Y/N: Yeah. Come on.

You ran towards the ledge and jumped. While in midair, you shot out your grapple and swung to land into the next platform. You turned back as Kamala mirror your movements. However, she misjudged her swing and you watched as she barely hit the edge of the platform. You quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her fully on before she could fall.

Y/N: You good?

Kamala: Yeah. Thank you.

Y/N: Don't mention it. Come on. We're almost there.

You let go of her and the two of you swung over to the next platform where you found another tunnel. You both walked through it before you found the ladder that would lead you to safety.

Y/N: We made it.

Kamala: Looks clear.

You allowed her to climb up first and you followed. She pushed up the grate and slid it open. You smiled. You were there.

Kamala: Ugh!

You stopped when you heard a zap. You looked up and saw that someone had tazed Kamala and pulled her up to the surface. You quickly let go of the ladder and used your grapple to swing back into the cave. You held yourself up against the roof.

You tried to calm your breathing as you heard them drag Kamala away. This can't be happening. Why did you even care what happened to her? She was the one who revealed her powers. Why was any of this your problem?

You closed your eyes and tried ro stay calm. Deep breaths. Slowly, you opened your eyes. That's right.

She was your responsibility because you chose to help her. Because, that's what heroes do. They help people. You clenched your fists as you thought back on your mom.

Y/N: No. Not like this.

You let go of the line and landed on the ground where you looked up.

Y/N: I need to save her.
-------
In a limousine driving across the city, Kamala began to stir from her sleep to distorted voices.

Monica: She's still a liability.

Kamala groaned as she finally came to. Slowly, she opened her eyes and reached up to the place she had been zapped.

Tarleton: Oh good, you're awake.

Kamala turned toward the voice and found two figures sitting across from her. Both of their faces were covered by the shadows but she did see one thing. A mechanical spider like device between the two of them. The man had his hand over it. Purple sparks transmitted between his finger and the device like a puppet on strings.

Tarleton: I'm so sorry. Those synthoids were only following their security protocols.

Kamala looked at the man and saw some strange device on his head.

Monica: Stealing private information is a serious offense.

Kamala turned to the woman. She had seen her before. In the ads and the hologram announcements. This was Monica, Tareton's right hand man. Or, woman. She was holding a laptop that illuminated her face.

Unaware to everyone, another figure swung and ran and leap across the rooftops above. You did your best to avoid the drones following the car.

Tarleton: Monica. Give her a moment.

Kamala looked around the car and out the windows confused.

Kamala: Hey, what's going on?

She spotted the AIM headquarters. It used to be the Avengers' HQ.

Kamala: Where are you people taking me?

Tarleton: Somewhere safe.

Tarleton leaned forward enough for Kamala to see his face. It wasn't anything like the billboards or the holograms. It was messed up. His head was much larger than it should be. The metal device was connected to his mind. Tarleton noticed her surpised and leaned back.

Tarleton: Forgive me. I know I don't quite compare to my holographic counterpart. But it's a nice trick for the shareholders. Ha hah...

Suddenly, Tarleton began to cough. Uncontrollably, he struggled for air. He reached to the tank next to him and pulled a mask over his nose and mouth as he began to fill his lungs back with oxygen. Kamala looked at the man confused. Finally, it hit her.

Kamala: Dr. Tarleton?

Tarleton set the mask down.

Tarleton: In the flesh.

Monica: Why did you hack our servers?

Kamala felt her cold eyes on her. She just needed to play this off.

Kamala: I didn't steal anything.

Tarleton: Then what were you looking for? The cure, perhaps?

Kamala just stayed silent.

Tarleton: Kamala..AIM only wants to free us from the being at the mercy of the powerful. In a subjectively, unlimited power, that's dangerous, it's lethal. A-Day was a prime example. You are lucky to be alive.

Kamala gave it some thought. Overhead, you followed the car before you began to notice the growing presence of drones and synthoids. Guards.

Tarleton: But with technology, we can right their wrongs. We can give you back your normal life!

Kamala was conflicted. Her normal life. No. This was all wrong. She shook her head and held her hands up.

Kamala: Look, I...I just guessed a password, ok? I...I didn't think I'd actually get in.

Monica leaned towarss Tarleton.

Monica: She's clearly violent. Her infection must be getting worse.

Kamala: What? I didn't mean to hurt anyone!

Tarleton: Of course not, but what happenes when you lose control again? Hm? What happens when you hurt someone that you love? Even the Avengers had to suffer for their hubris.

You contiued to follow the car. You had to think of something fast. They were getting closer to the tower. You looked at your hand as F/C sparks began to appear. Guess it's now or never.

Kamala: Hey, were you there? I mean, when Cap and Leviathan died?

Monica and Tarleton looked at her.

Kamala: Where you there?

Monica closed her laptop.

Tarleton: Yes. Luckily, Monica found me on the command deck. Her regenerative formula saved my life.

Kamala had caught him. She had seen the footage. She saw Tarleton lock Cap and Leviathan in that room. She saw him abandon them.

Tarleton: Come on, Kamala. Let's do this, yes? Let AIM help you.

Tarleton held out his hand for her. Overhead, you leaped off the building.

Kamala: I'll take my chances.

You slammed your fist onto the roof of the car as a massive ball of F/C electricity covered the area and shut down all of the bots and drones. The side of the car was destroyed as Kamala punched herself free. You leaped down and grabbed her hand before running off.

Monica: Damn it, George!

She reached up to her ear and called in back up.

Monica: Get the girl, now!

You let go of Kamala's hand and you both escaped through the alley thanks to you shutting down the bots. You bkth climbed up a ladder that led to a roof where you both caught your breath.

Kamala: Well done, Kamala. You just outed yourself as an Inhuman. Stupid! What were you thinking.

You looked at her and placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked at you as you did your best to smile.

Y/N: Don't beat yourself up. They weren't going to help you in anyway, Kamala.

Kamala: But what was I thinking? Join the resistance? Become some kind of hero?

Suddenly, she realized something. A look of sadness came over her face as you looked at her.

Kamala: I can't go home. Ammi. Abu. They'll punish them for hiding me. I really messed up.

You shook your head.

Y/N: No. You didn't. Are you in over your head? Probably! But you did the right thing. You said you have something important on that flash drive. Maybe we can get it to someone who can help.

You and Kamala looked at each other before she looked past you. You turned around and saw that she was looking at the Countrywide bus depot.

Kamal: Utah.

Y/N: Huh?

You turned back around to look at her for answers.

Kamala: The old SHIELD base....the Resistance will know what to do.

You looked at her oddly. Well, that was looking like the best option right now. Before you could argue, a bright light shined on both of you. One of AIM's ships had managed to sneak up on you.

AIM Robot: You have been identified as an illegal Inhuman.

Kamala: Ah-crap!

Y/N: Run!

You both turned around and began to sprint across the rooftop. You saw one of the bots climb up the side of the building and spotted a line connecting the building to another. You and Kamala both leaped up and grabbed it to zip line yourselfs down.

All around you, bots and drones appeared and followed you. You couldn't use your electricity again. You would be too drained to do anything else.

Kamala: There's no where to hide! We have to get out of town!

You gritted your teeth as you followed her. You should have turned away and left back at the park. Now you were involved in this mess. No. This girl was your responsibility now.

Kamala leaped across a gap and grapped onto a ladder. Suddenly, a bot landed on the ladder as well.

Kamala: Aaah!

The bot grabbed her shoulder and you reacted as fast as you could. Nearby, there was a mini garden with vegetables growing. You grabbed the small shovel that was stabbed in the dirt and flung it across the way. It stabbed onto the bot's head which gave Kamala enough space to kick it off.

She began to climb and you grappled across the gap. You looked down to see that another robot had appeared and was grabbing her through the ladder. Kamala reached up and grabbed the red ladder and began to pull on it.

Kamala: Take that!

She pulled it down and the robot was smashed by the ladder descending. She climbed up and you helped her.

Y/N: You good?

Suddenly, from the glass behind you, an AIM soldier appeared.

AIM soldier: Stop running!

You and Kamala ran and leaped across another gap. The soldier appeared there to and reached down to grab Kamala.

AIM Soldier: Kamala Khan, stop running!

Kamala: Not gonna happen.

The platform began to break from its place and the AIM soldier teleported away as you and Kamala fell onto the tilted roof below. You both slid down it but you grabbed Kamal and swung both of you to safety on the next roof. You both sprinted and took the final leap as you reached the depot.

Kamala: Jump. JUMP!

You both reached out, but neither could reach. You both fell into a pile of boxes below. You let out a sigh of relief as you stood up. Kamala looked up and saw the AIM soldier fighting off one of the bots.

Kamala: Is that guy helping us?

Y/N: Don't know, don't care. We have to go.

You both made your way to a nearby door where you snuck in. Kamal turned around and enbiggened her hands to slam the door tightly close.

Kamala: Yes!

You hunched over as you began to catch your breath.

Y/N: Talk about, a night. You good?

Kamala: I've been better.

You just nodded as you stood up straight.

Y/N: Yeah. Me to.

You looked around before you heard a hissing sound. You and Kamala turned to see that the bots were cutting through the garage door.

Y/N: Shit.

The skyline above shattered and a bot landed on one of the buses that was lifted up for repairs. The robots began to communicate with each other as you and Kamala began to panic. Two more jumped in and you clenched your fists.

Kamala: Guess we gotta fight our way out of town...Okay, let's do this!

Y/N: I really hope punching a robot doesn't hurt.

You and Kamal leaped into action. You shot out a line and swung up to one of the robots. You used your momentum to kick it off of the bus and into the ground below. You ghen slammed into it before ripping out some exposed wires. Something landed next to you causing you to look at it.

Y/N: Are those bombs?

You leaped away as it went off. You ducked behind a bus and shot out a line which connected with one of the bots. You then used your gauntlet to pull it toward you before you held your arm out and clotheslined it.

Kamala swung her arms and legs around to destroy the bots as you used various tactics to disable them. You caught one of the grenades and swung it around with your line before you let go and sent it flying right into two bots.

Y/N: Double kill?

You leaped over to Kamala as the reinforcements broke through the door.

Kamala: Why don't we give our new friends...A HAND!

She stretched her arm out and enbiggened her hand to slam it against the bots which destroyed them on the spot. The hit also caused some debris to block the newly created hole.

Y/N: Huh. Neat. Now why didn't you do that before?

Kamala: It hurts when I do it a lot.

You just nodded. The window above shattered as flying drones entered.

Kamala: Oh great, my favorite!

You just sighed before you noticed a toolbox next to your foot. You quickly reached down and pulled out three wrenches. You threw them with all your might and sent them flying right into the drones which blew up.

You and Kamala looked at each other and nodded before you both grappled your way through the broken windows. You pulled down your bandanna as you and Kamala approached a bus. Delta, Utah. Looks like the right one.

Y/N: Alright. Here we go.

Kamala: Hold on one sec.

You stopped and looked at her as she pulled out her phone. She was texting someone.

Kamala: Come on Nakia. Cover for me. Say I went on the retreat with you.

She sent the text and pulled out her sim card. She then tossed it on the ground and stepped on it. She looked at you as you held your arm out to signal for her to go first.

Kamala: Goodbye Jersey.

She stepped on the bus while you stood there. You were officially committed. You stepped onto the bus and sighed.

Y/N: Sorry, Hailey.
