Twins (Strange)
Twins
As the twin sister of Doctor Stephen Strange, it was hard in your family. For a long time, your parents compared the two of you and made it harder for you when you said you were into arts and stuff, not medicine or math or anything like that. Instead that all gave you anxiety. Art gave you peace. Only Stephen saw that, or cared.
He and you had a great relationship as brother and sister. Usually, siblings fought and argued, never saw eye-to-eye, etc. You two were the opposite. It was a blessing to many, but it was also great for your relationship.
Until he changed. He started getting a hot air balloon sized head and it cause you two to rub the wrong way. When you had gone to visits him for your monthly visit, you two had a disagreement that led to him telling you to leave, and that you probably shouldn't come back. Now that broke your heart into pieces. He was all you had left, after you got disconnected from your parents. This just added another knife wound to your already shriveled heart.
But then the accident happened. You had heard from the news, and were crushed. After the argument you had with him, you had moved down to South Carolina to enjoy the nice weather for a change. That was a mistake, especially all those time you needed his brotherly love after failed boyfriends and girlfriends. It was freaking hard. So, you called your boss and explained the situation (she happily said you could take time off and said she hoped he'd be okay), and scrambled to buy plane tickets to New York City to see him. You didn't care that he was angry, if he still was, you just needed to see him.
The airport was crowded and there weren't enough planes, but your flight happened to be one that was saved from cancellation and you and the other 72 people to New York City. Halfway through, the wing of the plane got messed up by some idiot's balloon getting sucked into the engine and causing some damage. Weird coincidence, but okay.
So that left you to try and find another flight, which was all booked. That meant you had to waste a bunch of money on a car ride to New York. The airline refunded everyone half their ticket price to make up for the inconvenience, and so that helped you rent a car and drive yourself up. When you FINALLY made it to New York City, it had been weeks after the initial car wreck. Many times your car broke down, and it initially took you time to get tickets to New York (with lots of debating sprinkled in there) but you were finally there. You knew Stephen still lived in his same apartment, so you hurried as fast as you could to get to him at a good time. You just needed to see him again.
After about thirty minutes after trying to get through crowds and crowds of people, you were standing at the door to the apartment building your twin brother, older by 6 minutes, lived and most likely had been hibernating in since he was released from the hospital. Your feet were taking you up the familiar pathway that you've walked so many times.
And now, you were at his front door.
You knocked, and it took an agonizingly long time, but the door was finally opened. There stood your brother Doctor Stephen Strange, looking more like a homeless man than a multi-billionaire. He recognized you instantly, and was shocked you had come back. Next thing the both of you knew, you were hugging him, arms wrapped around him tightly so he couldn't push you away again.
"(Y/N)?" he asked, disbelief laced in his tone. You could only nod against his chest, and finally his arms wrapped around you now. Both of you were crying, you just weren't trying to hide it.
You both walked inside all the way now, and sat on one of his couches. You made a cup of tea for both of you and turned on his fireplace. Stephen looked like a mess, and your heart was hurting. The tea was ready and you brought it over to him and sat down next to him.
"Stephen...are you okay? God that's a stupid question of course you're not okay," you said, smacking your forehead from asking such a ridiculous question. Stephen laughed and grabbed your hand. That was when you really saw the scars and how shaky his hands were. You grabbed his hand back and rubbed the back of it with your thumb.
"(Y/N), I'm better now that you're here. I've missed you so much and I can't believe I actually pushed you away. I pushed you away from me. That was the worst idea. Now that you're here I realized how much I've missed you and the fact that you kind of act like a mom more than a sister. That sounds weird," he mumbled the last part, and you bursted out laughing. He joined in, and soon the two of you were drunk teenagers again, laughing and being carefree.
The two of you talked and Stephen said you could stay with him in his apartment. He had one of his many rooms made into a guest bedroom, and so he told you that you could stay in it for as long as you wanted. That you did.
~Time Skip~
"Cama what now?" you asked. You looked at your brother like he had successfully made a head transplant. He probably could at some point honestly. But he had just shared some weird news with you and it was throwing you for a loop.
"Weird name, I know. I talked to this man who was supposed to be paralyzed for the rest of his life, and he was playing basketball. Basketball! So I talked to him and asked him how. It's a place called Kamar Taj. It's in Tibet and is this isolated region in the Himalayas," he explained to you. He had just hurried back into his apartment, interrupting your reading, and just shouted out 'we need to go to Kamar Taj'. It was weird, and the explanation made it weirder.
You held your hand out to stop him from speaking more. "So, you're going to take this man's word about this strange place that's over seven thousand miles away, and whisk us away to it?" you clarified. He nodded.
"You don't have to go if you don't want (Y/N)," he said. You scoffed.
"Of course I am. I almost lost you once. It won't be happening again." And that's how you found yourself packing along side your brother to a place in Asia that you've never heard of before.
~Another Time Skip~
It had been days since the two of you had last eaten properly, or even slept. You had been wondering aimlessly around Tibet, looking for the place Kamar Taj. The two of you nearly got beaten to death when muggers came. Stephen attempted to punch one, and that was probably the worst idea, but he did it anyways. But you were helped.
~Yet Another Time Skip~
For a while now, you and Stephen had been bunking at Kamar Taj and learning the Mystical Arts. You were much more accepting and believing towards the practice than Stephen. You tried multiple times to help him get the hang of it more, as you were excelling in it very quickly.
"Stephen come on! You can do it! It may not be exactly like studying to be a doctor, but it's the same basic outline. Study, practice, and get there. Just don't stop," you said, trying to comfort your brother when he was sitting in the library trying to memorize everything he could. "But also don't overwork yourself. You've been reading nonstop for three days and it's taking a toll on your sleeping habits...we just fixed them."
Stephen stood up and walked away from you, before turning back and going towards you. So the pacing begins. "I need this if I want to operate ever again. My hands still shake and I'm far behind. I just...I just don't want to fail," he said, his voice cracking slightly over the last word. You put your hands on his shoulders and stopped his pacing madness. Looking into his brown eyes, you focused all your positive energy on him.
"Stop. Doubting. Yourself. Nothing has stopped you before, this won't either. Plus I'm here for you, and always will be. We're twins, I'm not going away," you said, earning a genuine chuckle from Stephen. "Now, I want you to go and get some decent sleep, and tomorrow we can work on your facial hair," you said, before turning and leaving.
Stephen felt his long beard and looked at the back of your head. "What's wrong with it?" he asked you.
You turned around on your heel and kept walking backwards. Your arms extended outwards and you shrugged as you answered. "You look like a homeless man." You turned back around as Stephen laugh out loud at your remark.
~Hey Look Another Time Skip~
Stephen had just discovered the time stone and the Eye of Agamotto. Dangerous stuff, as you had read about it one day when you were bored and it was raining outside. It was an interesting object of power, but with that power came lots of dangers and warnings for use. You had never seen it, but when you were suddenly awoken from sleep to a very loud explosion, you somehow knew it had to do with Stephen and the Eye. You don't know how you did; it was just instinct.
In record time, you changed into your robes and such before sprinting down to the library, where the explosion sounded like it came from. It was dark out and such, but you were still able to find your way to the old building. When you entered, you kept running to the book area and where you had read the Eye was kept. What you saw made you gasp.
There was ruble everywhere, and you also saw Wong and Mordo on the ground. "Wong! Mordo!" you yelled, running to the men to help them up. "What the hell happened here?" you asked them, grabbing their hands and helping to hoist them up off the ground
"London's sanctum was attacked and your idiot brother got stuck in the New York one!" Wong yelled, hurrying out of the building. You hurried too, making sure you had everything you'd need to go and save Stephen from whatever could be happening to him. But first, you all decided to stop by the Ancient One to tell her. Wong had to stay and guard the library in case of any more attacks, and he had to be prepared to help the Hong Kong one.
Mordo was a few steps ahead of you when you got to the Ancient One. It seemed he'd just gotten there, as he was panting and at the beginning of the story. "We need to go now!" you interjected, the adrenaline that was pumping through your veins was giving you the necessary boost of energy for the journey already.
"Yes, we must hurry," she stated. You nodded to them and started opening up a portal, but then realized you didn't know where you were going. Putting your arms down, you turned to the pair and they looked at you with some impatience.
Simply shrugging, you explained. "I have no clue where I'm going. One of you must do it." The Ancient One nodded and started creating the glowing circle, cutting through the air and creating a door way to another place you had never been to before. It was cool, but then you saw the dead man laying on the ground. You gasped and covered our mouth, and the others saw him as well.
"(Y/N), can you please get this man back through the portal. Get a message to Wong about him, he'll know where to take him. You'll have to help," the Ancient One commanded. She was all business now. You nodded, and went through the portal. The man wasn't too hard to carry, as you had also been building up muscles from day one in Kamar Taj, so you lifted him into the portal and gently placed him on the floor. You turned back to try and come back, but she had already closed the portal.
Now you understood why it had to be you to take the poor victim back. Yes you were the less experienced of the three, but they also didn't know the condition of your brother. Being around these people, they understood what the relationship between you and Stephen meant to the both of you, and the Ancient One wouldn't want you going ballistic on them all.
Shaking your head of all the possibilities of how they could find Stephen, you opened a portal to where Wong said he'd be, and he saw you right away. "Wong, I need your help. The protector of the New York sanctum has fallen. The Ancient One said you knew what to do," you said. Wong nodded sadly, before coming through your portal and helping take the man to a final resting place.
~Yeehaw it's a Time Skip~
Once Stephen came back, he found you almost instantly. You had been training by yourself for days in the empty courtyard, waiting for any word. "(Y/N)?" he asked, grabbing your attention. You snapped your head in his direction, then saw it was your brother alive and well...ish.
"Stephen!" you yelled, running up to him and dropping the weapon you had borrowed. You pulled him into a hug that he instantly returned. "You scared me! I hadn't heard from you and I was told to come back in case they found you dead and I was so worried," you ranted on and on. You half expected him to laugh at you, but he never did. He gently pulled back from you and looked down at you, his eyes were more grey than usual. "What?" you asked, somewhat scared. It was now you realized he was alone.
"Let's go talk," he said, pulling you to his room. The two of you walked there in silence, and it was only when he closed his bedroom door that he spoke again. "It's about the Ancient One and Mordo."
He took time to explain to you what happened, and then said that he and Mordo were going ahead and going to protect the Hong Kong sacrum. "I'm going with you," you said, standing to your feet and heading out to change. Stephen stood quickly as well, grabbing your arm before you could leave. Well, his cloak more did than his hand. "Stephen, I need to get in my outfit," you said attempting to release your arm from his-the cloak's- hold.
"I don't want you going out there and getting yourself killed. Please, (Y/N), I need you to be safe," he said, his voice soft and a whisper. You understood, because you had felt that way multiple times with him during this time you've been with his again. He was the closest family you had and he meant a lot to you.
"You could get killed too. We both need to go to watch each other's backs. I'm not too confident on Mordo right now. We need each other," you said, before heading on out of his room to get into your robes (I don't know what else to call them).
Now, you were going to go face a madman and the embodiment of darkness.
~Big Ass Time Skip~
It had been a grand total of two years since you and Stephen fought Dormammu together, catching him in an ultimate time loop. Once defeated he left, and so did Mordo. You hadn't heard from him in ages, but you understood why. His mentor had been lying straight to his face about her power and her ties to the Dark Dimension, and that was enough to get someone uneasy. Then she was killed, and that must've done it.
Currently, you and Stephen were co-protectors of the New York sanctum and were damn good ones at that. You had a run in a while back with a certain pair of Asguardian gods, and that was very interesting. Lately things have been pretty quiet. Today, Wong was visiting to see the two of you. He claimed it was to check in, but you knew he missed the two of you.
Right as you were thinking about it, Wong showed up downstairs. You smiled brightly at him, greeting him. "Wong! How wonderful it is to see you again. How's everything?" you asked, bombarding him with questions. Stephen heard you talking and came down the stairs to see you two talking away in the entrance. You and Wong had a pretty good relationship. It helped that you didn't steal from the library.
"Wong. Good to see you again," Stephen said formally, shaking hands with the master of ancient arts. They nodded to each other and before you could finish your conversation, something crashed through the ceiling into the stairs. Instantly you had your magical knives, Stephen had his cloak, and Wong has his light disks up on his hands. When the three of you edged your way to the stairs and looked over the edge, you saw a green giant turning to what looked like a human.
He was mumbling something. "Thanos is coming."

A/N: Aha! I have left off on a sort of cliffhanger. I mean, pretty much all of us know where this is going so yeah. No words needed. I just thought that would be a nice ending of the chapter without making it too much longer than it already is (unless y'all want longer, then I can go full blown five, ten page long chapters for y'all.
So, really quick, I was thinking of possibly making this into a type of series? Like a twin for each character (if I do Maximoff's it'll be triplets) and wanted to know your thoughts?? Comments are always and will always be appreciated.
Before I wrap this author's note that a lot of people didn't read up, I just want to thank you quickly over getting like 706 reads!? Dudes that's amazing!
Bye Lovelies!! Have a wonderful upcoming week!
