teenage!reader— thought I'd start putting these back up here since I noticed my readers span the ages and someone mentioned they liked these so yeah
Working for Tony Stark was a literally dream come true, especially since you worked with Spiderman AKA your bestest friend on the whole planet, Peter. He managed to get Mr. Stark to hire you as an actual employee- not an intern- after talking about your engineering skills.
So many amazing things had come from this job, like meeting some of the Avengers (and even helping a couple, too), meeting a literal king and princess, and you had some really great health care stuff. Mr. Stark also managed to have the school give you a certain schedule so you were able to get to the tower at a good time. He's seen a lot of your skills, and values it especially from someone young.
But, other than some friends and your foster mom, nobody knew about this to-die-for job. It wasn't much of a conscious decision, you just didn't really tell people to avoid being seen as arrogant and braggy. Nobody really believed Peter and his Stark Internship, and you really didn't want to go down that road- especially with your foster brother, Flash. You two didn't have the greatest relationship out there.
You were thinking about Flash again as you walked into the Stark Tower. Mr. Stark had let you in on a small secret that he was selling the famous landmark but he didn't tell you who had bought it.
Ignoring thoughts of your foster brother, you reminded yourself of today's mission: finish the prototypes so the labs can get cleared.
People stared at you as you walked by, which was no surprise. Only the regular employees knew you exactly and didn't care about your presence. The other people in the lobby, wearing their business suits and expensive watches, were very confused to see a teenager in jeans and a t-shirt holding up their security badge to the scanners.
You got into the elevator, thankfully alone, and brought out your phone to text Peter. He had one more class left- well, twenty minutes of it- and he'd come by the tower to hang out with you. Apparently, King T'Challa and Princess Shuri were also coming in today.
Shuri was amazing and totally not what you thought a princess would be like. She was a true Gen Z with you and Peter, causing you guys to be a seriously chaotic trio that gave Mr. Stark nightmares.
The elevator doors opened up and you hurried out to get to the lab. Prototype building time. Once Shuri gets here, you'll lose all focus and work motivation. Okay, honestly, once Peter gets here you'll lose all focus. These next 30~ minutes were very valuable.
"Hey kid," a voice called out as you entered the lab.
You glanced up at Mr. Stark and smiled. "Hey Mr. Stark. Working on something down here today?" you asked him as you got to your unofficial area of the lab.
He shrugged. "Just going over some stuff with the royals when they get here." You nodded and set all your school stuff down and got your fancy lab coat you insisted on having put on. "I already know the second the other kids get here you're going to lose all focus so you better get engineering," Mr. Stark then said.
You laughed and got one of your projects out from a shelf. "I'd argue but you're 100% correct." Mr. Stark chuckled as well, then the two of you went into your own headspace and got working.
Just as you thought, 30 minutes later Peter comes through the door. "Hey Mr. Stark! Hey (Y/n)!" he called out to the both of you. Mr. Stark nodded and you looked up and smiled at him. "What are we working on today?"
"Well, I hope you mean that we are actually going to work on it. I've got deadlines, you know, and Shuri's coming so I just want to get as much done as possible right away," you rambled as you clicked a piece into place.
Peter nodded and set his school stuff down next to yours. "Shuri's coming? Awesome! Here, let me help as much as you need me to," he offered.
It took a few more minutes than it would've, but you and Peter finished one of your prototypes and stared at it with absolute joy. It was a set of Widow Bites you had thought up a couple months ago. Mr. Stark gave you the go ahead to make them, even though he had no idea if the Black Widow would be coming back anytime soon. Or ever, really.
"Looks great! I'll have to test up at the new facility since I don't have any dummies here with me, so onto the next project!" you yelled with a triumphant tone. "Huzzah!"
Peter laughed, but joined in and yelled, "Huzzah!" He added a punch in the air that made you double over with laughter.
"Ooh, what are we cheering about?" a new voice joined. You and Peter looked over and saw Shuri walking in the lab with T'Challa right behind her.
The two of you smiled. "Shuri!" Peter called out, and went over to hug her. You were right behind. "We're so happy you're able to visit again!"
She laughed and when you all separated from the hug, she started pushing you over to the table. "I am too! It took some convincing, but T'Challa agreed to let me come. Now, what are you working on?"
"Well," you started, and hurried over to hold up the finished Widow Bites. "We just finished with these, and I'll have to test them out upstate. So now, we can work on something new!" You walked over to the shelf of your completed prototypes and set the Widow Bites down in a specially marked spot.
Then you walked over to the shelf of unfinished prototypes and picked the one that was the next furthest along. "This, lady and gent, is a very promising prototype. It is a small machine that is supposed to make Spiderman's web instantly rather than Peter here having to mix it up secretly in chemistry class," you explained as you set the machine down on the table.
Shuri looked at it, intrigued by the design, and Peter looked pretty excited, too. "Well let's get to work! What do we need to do?"

"Over here is one of the many labs of Tony Stark and his engineers. They work tirelessly to create new devices to help keep us safe from threats." The teacher droned on. Even though the stuff the class was seeing was insanely cool, nobody really cared. It was a mandatory field trip for a math class since the school had gotten some complaints that the kids never really get out and explore.
It wasn't too expensive to get Tony Stark to let a group of 20 teens and their teacher to visit the labs of Stark Tower. In fact, there was nothing wrong with the entire idea and execution. It was just a lot more boring than the class realized.
Flash sighed as he looked in another empty lab. He was expecting to see Avengers getting geared up, or things explode or whatever. Nobody was fascinated with the empty, basic, blank labs.
"Now, there's another lab we'll be looking at today where Mr. Stark supposedly does most of his work, and there's a chance we might see him," the teacher droned. It was obvious in his tone that he didn't believe that would happen, and the most they'd see would be some projects left unfinished.
The students followed the teacher up the set of stairs that led up to the outside of the next lab. Not only was the whole building connected by the elevator, but similar floors were connected by staircases often in the middle of them. So far, that's all Flash had learned.
Everyone made it up the stairs, the Stark Industries security guard in tow, and they looked around the new floor. Their gazes made it over to the lab that had glass doors and windows separating the group from the lab itself.
The teacher started his droning again. "Now, over here-"
Shattering glass interrupted the man and caused everyone to duck down and dodge whatever was flying out. They heard another loud noise, and then everything stopped. The class and teachers stood slowly, and looked to one side to see something embedded in the wall next to them.
Then the class looked over to the other side to see Peter Parker, Princess Shuri, and you cackling as Tony Stark and King T'Challa looked on with worry in their eyes- you could almost see the gray hairs growing.
Finally, the teenagers responsible for the mess looked and saw the teenagers they almost killed. Everyone was shocked to see their classmate standing with literal royalty and the billionaire Tony Stark- not even just standing, they were working with them.
Most of all, Flash was going through... well, something seeing his foster sister with her hand on the thing that nearly killed them standing next to the kid he bullies daily. And they were standing in the lab of the Tony Stark.
When no one was saying anything, Peter shrugged. "What, I told you guys I worked here."
You just smiled awkwardly. "Sorry I- I didn't see ya there or I would've, you know, not nearly killed you. That's... that's my bad," you said while rubbing the back of your neck. "At least I know what to adjust now..."
As you and Flash made eye-contact, you realized this would be a great conversation when you get home.
