Danger Scale

Danger Scale

**This is based after Avengers 4, so there can be a few more added characters**

You knew your abilities were special and sought out for, but you remained hidden as best you could. Nobody knew about them escort your parents and brother, and that was it. You worked in a regular place, a newspaper printer. You were a journalist and had been for the past three years. Your powers were just there for you to see how skilled a person was, for you to see how trained they were. You've met people who were a 1, and they were mostly small children. The highest you've met was a 7, and it was your brother after he got back from the military after his service.

Today, you were getting a partner in you "journaling crimes". At least that's what your bestie Sharon calls it. She didn't work with you, but she worked with a program that helped you out with finding your sources. She never told you where she worked, and you decided not to question it. The thing that threw you off though, was that she was a 7 as well.

Currently, you were sat at your desk talking to Sharon on the phone.

"I'm pretty excited Sharon! My new partner is going to be amazing! I at least hope they are. I know nothing about them," you ranted.

"Nothing?" came Sharon's concerned voice over the phone.

"Yeah nothing. Not even a gender! Oh wait, I have to go! I think they're here!" you said excitedly, before hanging up the phone and putting it on your desk. You stood up and smoothed out your pink and mint green dress. You looked to the door to your boss' office and saw him finish up a talk to a brown haired boy. He looked cute. Well, from behind at least.

He stepped out of the office behind your boss, and your eyes widened, and you took a small step back.

You've never seen a 10 before.

The new guy...was just a boy. He couldn't of been older than 20, and he had these beautiful brown eyes. How the hell was he a ten?!

He walked over to you, and you tried your absolute best not to cower away from him.

"Hi, my names Parker- I-I mean Peter. Peter Parker," he stumbled out. You smiled and chuckled a bit. He was so cute, how could he been a level 10?

"I'm (Y/F/N). It seems that we are partners in crime," you said, smiling a bit. He smiled back at you and lord you could've freaking melted right then and there. You two stood there and talked a bit, and you just couldn't figure out how he was such a big threat. Of course, you couldn't flat out ask 'Hey, any reason you are a 10 on a scale of 1-10 for how skilled and deadly you are?'. That would be stupid and would cause a lot of confusion.

He told you for a while a couple years ago during high school he interned Tony Stark, which I thought was absolutely awesome. Tony Stark was your idol and you looked up to him, except for the fact that you didn't have the same brain as him. But you still wanted to be a billionaire and help people like he did.

~~

A few months later and it was Christmas time, and that meant you were going to have to attend your work Christmas party. Peter was going to go as well, and you thought tonight would be a good opportunity to ask him if he's had any training of sorts.

You were wearing a red dress with a high-low skirt effect, and lace on the top. It was your favorite dress that you had. You put on some gorgeous silver heels that you knew you'd be carrying home, but they looked cute anyways. Your phone went off on your bed, and you checked to see who it was.

Peter texted you. You decided to exchange numbers so you guys could talk about your articles together. It was his idea, and you thought it could lead to a friendship, and maybe more. Then you could find out why he's a level 10. It honestly scared you, but you had to act normal, otherwise you'd concern him.

PETER: Hey, I'm going to meet you at the party right? I brought someone I kinda want you to meet.

(Y/N): Yeah definitely. See you there!

You set your phone into your red clutch that matched your dress and left your apartment, locking the door behind you.

As you walked down the street, passed all the 2s and 3s around you, you wondered who Peter wanted you to meet so bad. Girlfriend? Sister? Brother? Friend? You honestly hoped it wasn't the first option, because you may or may not have a slight crush on the brunette.

You walked into the building and went up to the main floor where the party was being held. Once you got in there, you talked to a lot of people before you were able to find Peter. You even managed to get a martini. As you walked over to the back lounge, you caught site of Peter's brown curls next to a bunch on blonde waves. Curious, you walked over. Maybe this is the person he was talking about?

"Peter!" you called from behind. The boy turned around and saw you, his face brightening. He stood with his friend and introduced you to her.

"This is Carol. She's one of my friends I made during the Stark internship," Peter said casually. You looked above Carol's head to see her scale. Your eyes widened and you stumbled backwards this time, dropping your glass. Peter looked concerned as you fell onto a chair behind you. Your breathing grew heavier and shorter deaths were taken.

You had NEVER seen a 12 before.

"Hey, (Y/N), are you alright?" Peter asked, Carol coming around beside you to see if you were okay.

"I have to go!" you said, a bit louder than you wanted, but you just hurried out of there. You had never before seen someone above a 10 on the scale, and dear lord it scared the crap out of you. You hurried to the elevator and pressed the down button, spamming it pretty much, until the doors finally opened. You could hear Peter yelling for you.

"(Y/N)! Wait!" Peter yelled behind you. As you hurried into the elevator, you spammed the ground floor button, hurrying and praying it would close in time. Luck wasn't on your side, however, and Peter stuck his foot in between the doors, letting him and Carol onto the elevator. You tried to calm down but oh my god you were in an elevator with two people who kill you easily.

"(Y/N) are you okay? You're acting really weird," Peter said, trying to figure out what the matter was. You shook you head a lot and looked to the ground.

"Fine...I'm fine..." you managed to get out. Finally, before Peter could ask more questions, the elevator dinged and the doors opened. When they were just wide enough for you to go through, you did, and you ended up sprinting out of there. There wasn't a care in your mind about your heels, or your dress, or how insane you looked, you honestly just need to get out.

"(Y/N) please wait!" you heard Peter yell after you again. Then, out of no where, you suddenly blacked out.

~~

When you came to, everything was blurry and bright, and your sense of....everything was nonexistent. Your vision finally started to clear up, and you noticed you were in a bland looking room, sitting in a chair, with a table in front of you. That was all there was in the room with you. The walls were all grey and boring.

"Hello?" you croaked out, your voice a whisper due to your dry throat. "Anyone there?" you questioned. With every word you said, it burned your throat. You wanted water, but when you attempted to move, you found out your hands were tied behind you, and your feet tied to the front two legs of the chair.

Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, Peter walked into the room. "Hey,(Y/N)," he said, shyly. You looked at him, confused and scared. Was he going to kill you? He could, so you definitely were being careful.

"What am I doing here?" you asked him, your voice was regaining it's natural sound, but it was shaking a bit.

"I can't tell you anything until Fury gets in here, but as long as you cooperate, you will be fine," Peter reassured you. You nodded your head, your fear subsiding a bit.

"C-could you please untie m-me? It's uncomfortable," you said. Peter nodded quickly and walked over to you and undid your hands and ankles. You rubbed your wrists a bit. "Thanks. So you can't tell me anything?" you tried again.

"Nope. I'm sorry, but Director Fury will be here soon. I promise. And I'll be in here the whole time," Peter said. You nodded again, and as if on cue, a bald, African American man with an eye patch in all black walked in the door. He looked super intimidating. His number was an 8, so not as high as Peter and his friend Carol. He stood in front of you on the other side of the table, and Peter went and stood beside you.

"I'm Director Fury of SHIELD, and-" he started, but you cut him off.

"SHIELD? As in the organization that started the Avengers? You're kidding right?" you asked him. He looked really serious, his eyes...eye was glaring at you.

"I'm not a the kind of person who jokes and kids around. Now I would like to know why your freaked out over our friend," he said. I was about to ask who when Carol from the party walked through the door next. Her scale had changed to a 13, and oh god that scared the crap out of you.

"Okay, this is going to sound crazy, but it's true. I have a power, of sorts," you started, Fury getting more interested as soon as you said the word 'power'. "I can see from a scale of 1-10 how skilled a person is. The higher the number, the more capable they are to kill you. The highest I've ever seen is a 7. That's my brother with his extensive military training. Director Fury, sir, you're an 8, Peter is a 10, and Carol," you pointed to Carol. You started to shake a bit, but Peter put a delicate hand on your shoulder.

"Well?" Fury asked.

"She's a 13. I've never seen anyone off the scale, so you can imagine how freaked out I was-am," you said. The three others shared looks with each other.

"Fury, this is important. We should discuss outside," Carol said. Fury nodded his head, and he looked to Peter.

"I'm gonna stay in here," he said. Fury and Carol left, and Peter immediately went around in front of you and sat on the table. "So I'm a 10? That's so cool!" he said, his inner fanboy popping out.

"And terrifying," you added on. He looked at you and nodded, understanding where you were coming from.

"I'm sorry if I freaked you out. I never knew you could do that. The thing is though, I'd never hurt anyone if I didn't have to," he said softly. You smiled at him and looked to the floor, hiding the blush creeping up to your cheeks.

"Well at the time I didn't know that, but as I got to know you I figured you were pretty harmless. And I'm sorry If I offended you and your friend. It just freaked me out," you apologized.

"It's okay," he said.

For a few minutes, the two of you sat in silence. It wasn't awkward like most though, it was comfortable. You felt comfortable and safe with Peter, especially because he could kill anyone who might pop in and try to harm either of you.

Your comfortable silence was soon interrupted when Carol and Fury came back in, Carol with a smirk of satisfaction on her face.

"Alright," Fury started, but paused. He apparently didn't know your named. Offensed.

"(Y/N)," you filled in for him.

"(Y/N), you are going to be given a spot on the team with Captain Marvel here," he gestured to Carol, "and Spider-Man." Fury looked at Peter, who was still sitting on the table. "You will stay behind the scenes and help us figure out how great of a threat a person is. Can you see the scale through video?" he asked.

"Yes sir. And you're Spider-Man?! That's awesome!" you exclaimed. Then, you looked back to Fury, looking straight into his eye and had a smirk on your face. You said,

"When do we start?"
