When I Was Your Man-Peter Parker

Six months; six months it's been since you and Peter broke up. It wasn't something either of you wanted but with Peter skipping out on class and missing your planned dates, even being Spider Man, you both knew the relationship had to end. Peter never gave you enough time or his attention and it started to upset you. Of course you knew him being a superhero and all that there would be complications, but you missed him. You missed his sweet smile whenever he would see you at your locker, or when he would wrap his strong arms around your waist and spin you around; you especially missed his kisses. When you guys kissed it was like you were the only people in the world, and as cliche as that is, that was the only way you could describe it.

Peter noticed you growing distant and it was all his fault, he tried to be there for you as much as he could. Whenever he was late for a date at your favorite italian restaurant, he always apologized and bought you a teddy bear to make up for it. The first few times he did that it worked, you forgave him and pretended like nothing had happened and he wouldn't show up late again. But boy were you wrong.

As time went on you couldn't be in the relationship anymore, well it wasn't even a relationship because you were the only one that made an attempt to hang out with your other half. So you ended it and as much as you didn't want to, you did. It was right after school, earlier that day you texted Peter to meet you at Central Park and like always you never got a response.

Waiting alone at the park was hard for you, you started to grow nervous and scared all at the same time because you didn't want to break up with him. You kept telling yourself that you couldn't do it anymore and that breaking up with him was the right thing to do.

When Peter showed up, on time by the way, you told him how you felt and you broke up with him. As soon as those words left your mouth he looked down at his worn out Nike's and sniffled, it broke your heart. He nodded slowly and looked back up at you with red eyes, "I understand." he whispered, and that was the last thing you heard from him.

Now nothing was the same. Every corner he turned and every building he swung by always reminded him of you. He couldn't even bare to be in his room because that was where you created most of your memories. When he went to bed at night, it was always colder than it used to be and that's because he didn't have you to hold onto. Every other night when he did have the time to study with you, he would turn on his radio and let soft alternative music play in the back while you guys studied for Spanish. However you two always got distracted when your song came on, in that moment you would forget about Spanish and just dance around the room. Peter was always the gentleman and rested his hands on your hips, humming the song in your ear as you swayed in his bedroom.

Just thinking about it almost brought Peter to tears.

Today however was really hard for Peter, when he walked into school that day it felt like he'd been hit by a train. There, just right down the hall at your locker, he saw you with your arms wrapped around Flash Thompson.

He noticed how happy you looked and for a split second he felt alright, but then he was reminded that he wasn't the one to make you smile, Flash was. Peter was jealous, jealous because Flash got to do all the things with you that Peter never did. Flash probably showed up on time to a date, brought her flowers and told her how lovely she looked when she opened the door.

That's when Peter started to cry, he didn't care anymore, hell he didn't care if he was at    'school crying. That was his girl that Flash, a bully, was holding onto. And just as Peter was about to walk over there and confront Flash, she leaned in and gave him a kiss. He stopped to watch what she did and right then and there he knew, he knew that she had moved on. She wasn't in love with Peter anymore but was in love with the kid that bullies him. Of course she didn't know any of that, but it probably wouldn't make a difference anyways.

"Hey man, what's wrong?" Ned asked coming up beside Peter, he jumped slightly and let out a shaky breath, wiping away his tears. "N-Nothing just uh..." But he couldn't finish his sentence, his eyes were still on you. Ned followed his line of vision and when he saw his best friend looking at you, he sighed and rested a hand on his shoulder, "Dude, you can't keep doing this to yourself. She's moved on, so should you."

Peter chuckled softly and nodded, biting the inside of his cheek he watched you pull away and shut your locker and walk off to class with Flash. "That should be me Ned, I'm the one that should be holding her hand and taking her on dates and kissing her goodnight. Not Flash."

"I know, I know." Ned said looking down and sighing once more.

Peter smiled sadly as you turned the corner and left his sights, he readjusted the straps of his backpack and said, "She's happy, that's all that matters."

A/n: okay honestly I was crying while writing this because I was listening to the song When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars and this imagine was angsty. Should there be a part two? Let me know how this was please because it's been a while since I've written a real imagine that I had inspiration for.
