Bucky's Rehab

She's been in the same business as him since they were in the Military together, but after she kills the wrong gangs, men she ends up pissing off some powerful people. A gang stealing Vibrainium from Wakanda believes that she has discovered their smuggling trade after she kills a couple of their low lifes, so they track her down. They believe they've killed her when they raid her house and shoot her and her daughter, but she survives. After seeking revenge for her daughters life, she bumps into T'Chaka, who sees the lost woman and takes her back to Wakanda, to begin a new life.
Freesia's P.O.V
I walked through the busseling street markets in Wakanda, Okoye beside me, wearing a tired and bored expression. I had dragged her down to the markets, as it was one of her rare days off, and we barely got to hang out. She'd argued that it was her day off, and that she didn't want to spend it shopping. Naturally, as a result, I'd simply dragged her along with me, with large puppy dog eyes. She'd caved. And was now holding my shopping bags, as I ogled at a pair of brown, rope sandles.
"Do you really need, another, pair of sandles?" Okoye said with a sigh of exasperation, as her shoulders slumped further. Although I loved hearing her accent, which was very prominent when she complained, I realised, we had been shopping for three hours already. Plus, she was right, I really didn't need another pair of sandles. I gave a sigh myself, and placed the brown sandle back down, as the lady behind the stand chuckled at us.
"I suppose you're right, as usual." I said as I turned to face her. She smiled in relief and her posture relaxed, as she whispered a "finally" under her breath.
"We can head back to mine and relax." I said with an apologetic smile, as I took my bags from her. She gave an even brighter smile at that and nodded, streching her shoulders and arms, now the weight was gone.
"I could do with a rest, and a good cup of coffee." She said, as we began weaving through the people in the streets, heading towards my small house, much further away from everyone else's.
I'd chosen the place when T'Chaka had brought me back to Wakanda, and offered me a home in his lands. The thought of him had my heart dropping a little. I'd stood with T'Challa, Shuri and Ramonda, at the funeral. I'd gone back to my house and cried all afternoon. He had been a good man, and a great king.
"Yeah, coffee and a nap sounds great." I said as I covered a yawn, my arm dropping back down heavily, at the weight of the bags in my hands. I had only now realised how, very tired I was. Okoye nodded tiredly in agreement. Her bracelet beeped, and the beads lit up, a sign someone was trying to contact her. She lifted her wrist, her face turning stern, and pressed the bead. T'Challa's face appeared in the blue light.
"My king, you are aware it is my day off." Okoye started. T'Challa chuckled and smiled, turning to look at me, as I hung over Okoye's shoulder. Okoye looked to me disapprovingly and I gave a sheepish smile, slinking back.
"I'm actually looking for you, Freesia." T'Challa said with a smile. Okoye turned to face me with a cofused frown, and I pointed at my face and questioned, dumbly,
"Me?" T'Challa laughed at my reaction and that just had my brows further creasing. It wasn't often that T'Challa contacted me, these days, it was mostly Shuri. We were pretty close. I touched my wrist, remembering that I'd forgotten to put my communication bracelet on this morning, before leaving to find Okoye.
"Yes you. The Winter Soldier has awoken, and I need you here." He said seriously. I schooled my features, doning a look I didn't often use these days, one of seriousness, that gave away nothing of my inner turmoil.
"We'll be there right away." I said seriously, and he nodded in reply, before the call ended. Okoye looked to my and nodded. I nodded back, before we took off, back in the direction of the palace.
I dumped my shopping on the floor outside the door, before pushing it open and walking into the lab Shuri had been keeping the frozen Winter Soldier, Okoye on my tail. I'd heard all about it from both Okoye and Shuri, when Steve Rogers had first dropped him off. I'd yet to actually see him, so the reason for my presence at his awakening was very odd.
Okoye and I made our way across the area to the room that held a sort of, doctors office. The Cryo tank was the thing that took up most of the larger area outside the office, and it was empty
I knocked on the edge of the glass wall as I stepped into the open doorway. I could see Shuri, looking at a screen, presumably checking medical reports on diagnostics she'd just run, T'Challa, watching over her shoulder, looking very serious, even thought the most of us knew, he had know idea what was happening on the screen, and lastly, a well fit and buff looking man, with rich, long, brown hair, and only one arm, sat with his back to us.
T'Challa and Shuri looked up at us and smiled. Shuri ran across the room to give me a fist bump and then hug.
"Long time no see." She said happily as she let me go, smiling brightly. I chuckled at her, knowing very well, we just saw each other yesterday.
"Yeah, long time." I said with a chuckle as I let her go and she took a step back as T'Challa joined us in the doorway, and Shuri greeted Okoye. I gave T'Challa a hug. It had been a while since I saw him. He was very busy being king, and the Black Panther, so we didn't get to see very much of each other.
"Good to see you, Freesia." He said as he gave me a smile. I returned it as I looked passed him at the man sitting on the medical bed, who had turned to face us. James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier, was very handsome. With a strong, sharp jaw, and bright blue eyes, he could definitely stop hearts. He was looking me over, rather confused and it made me giggle. I gave him a smile and small wave. His face softened a little and gave a half smile and half wave.
"Freesia, I have a favour to ask." T'Challa said as he walked back over to where James sat. We moved with him, moving more into the room, mostly to escape the cramped doorway. I eyed T'Challa wearily as he gave me a hopeful smile.
"Depends." I said as I squinted my eyes suspiciously. I caught myself, and relaxed my face, feeling my look had been way to harsh. T'Challa put a hand on James' shoulder and pulled another hopeful smile.
"I'd like you to look after Bucky for me. Just until he's fully recovered." He said rather confidently. Quite frankly, I hadn't been expecting this. Why me? What did that intail? My face dropped into the blank mask it usually did when my mind swirled in questions and uncertainty. Finally I squinted my eyes at T'Challa, not nearly as harshly, this time.
"Why me?" I asked slowly, as I folded my arms across my chest. T'Challa sighed as James looked between the two of us like a lost child. It was kind cute, and I had me leaning towards saying yes. I mean, why not? I was helping someone. I had a spare room in my house.
"Because, he needs someone who can keep an eye on him, and I trust you." T'Challa said with a suspicious smile. I squinted more scrutinisingly at him and furrowed my brows.
"This is because of our discussion on me not joining your fight team, so you think I'm the only one here who has nothing better to do with my time, isn't it." I said accusingly and suspiciously and my glare hardend into the threating one it had been earlier. T'Challa's eyes widened for a second and I knew my look, tone and comment had thrown him off. He schooled his feature and cleared his throat behind his hand.
"No. I just think you are the right sort of person for a job like this. You're someone who knows how to deal with a hard past." He said softly as he looked at me with soft, honest eyes. I sighed and relaxed completely. I suppose he's right. Plus, I don't really have that much of a problem with the idea. I looked to James, who was looking down at his hand, a little defeated looking, to T'Challa's soft, half smile. I sighed.
"He can stay with me." I said fianlly as I gave a small smile. T'Challa's face lit up and James looked up at me, a little surprised. Okoye put a hand on my sho I lder and squeezed it gently before leaning in to whisper to me,
"Are you sure you can do this?" She asked with concern. I smiled at her, appreciating her worry and care, but certain I could help this man, just as they had helped me. I nodded before making my way over to James. I held out my right hand for him to shake and he hesitantly took it.
"I'm Freesia. You must be James Barnes. " I said with a bright smile, as we shook hands.
"You can call me Bucky." He said with a nod as we let go, a small, half smile, barely visible.
