Epilogue
—Many Years after "The Sacrifice"—
Quill was sitting in the Benatar, reading a book that he managed to snatch from a planet not far away. It was nearing Gamora's death anniversary. They were near Earth, floating right beside it. They were preparing for a feast in the ship later that day to celebrate all the memories they had.
"You seem to be enjoying that book." Rocket said, wiping his hands from the dirt.
"Yeah. I got it from some guy's shop. It's pretty good." Quill said.
"It'll be alright." Rocket patted Quill on the back, "Everyone did their best."
Quill sighed, "Have you picked up any signal?"
"Still no signal. That portal won't be opening and I'm pretty sure Nebula won't find any food she can eat there." Rocket explained, "It was a pretty wasteland."
"Well, it's better if we try." Quill stood up and walked towards the ship. Drax was on the front seat, snoring.
Groot was checking the ship's defenses and Mantis reading the radar. Quill seemed amused at that sight.
"Mantis, any calls which needs the Guardians of the Galaxy?" Quill asked with a smile.
"I seem to pick up a call for help in a outer planet of Hala. They say Kree soldiers are abusing the natives." Mantis informed.
"I am Groot." Groot said.
Quill nodded and pretended he understood him. "Alright, let's do what we do best, guardians."
"After we wake Drax up." Rocket noted.
—Wakanda—
In one of Wakanda's ceremonies, they were celebrating the anniversary of the day the universes were joint once again. They were also celebrating a historic day in Wakandan history. They were finally going to help the world using a new engine that could run without using any fuel.
T'Challa was standing backstage, preparing his ceremonial robe. There were people putting on his makeup. Hundreds of people from other nations from around the world were watching. He needed to look good.
"Ah, my king." Okoye smiled, "You look beautiful today."
"Very funny, Okoye." T'Challa chuckled at her joke, "Very historic day, isn't it general?"
"Very historic indeed. The king of Wakanda came back from the unknown a few years ago. The whole nation as well."
"I live for these occasions." T'Challa nodded at the things that had happened the past few years. "I didn't know the Avengers would be so generous to give us a infinity stone."
"They are always generous, my king. They never seem to stop giving." Okoye smiled.
"Are my two scientists ready?" T'Challa asked.
"They are."
T'Challa walked on stage which made the crowd give him a loud applause. He waved his hand once he reached the podium, smiling at all the audience members.
"Welcome. Friends, brothers, sisters. We are very happy that you could join us today. Today is the anniversary of the sacrifice. The sacrifice that brought us back together once more." T'Challa said which made the crowd break into another applause, "Not only that, we are here to change history. Vehicles and machines that do not require fuel. Two of my best scientists are here to answer questions. First, my sister, Shuri!"
Shuri walked out wearing a gown and waving towards the audience. They were amazed with the beauty of the dress. She stood beside T'Challa, smiling at him.
"And my other scientist. Can we please give a round of applause to Bruce Banner!"
Bruce walked out smiling, waving his hands towards the audience. He was wearing a fine suit made of the finest leather. T'Challa patted him on the back once he reached him.
—Countryside—
Natasha was sitting beside a tree, looking into the dark forest. All the branches and leaves blocked all the sunlight that was in the forest. There wasn't a single space. She was looking deep into it, nothing but wind passing by. She could see her past moving, and then fading away again.
"Aunt Nat!" Someone called from the distance.
"Yeah?" Natasha said in a calm, tired voice. She turned around and saw Lila walking towards her with a bow and arrow.
"Can we go another round?" Lila asked.
"Another round? Did you get yourself cleaned already?" Natasha asked the 15-year old.
"Yeah. You can even ask mom!" Lila pleaded.
"And your brother?" Natasha asked.
"I mean..." Lila waved her head, "He's reading his book."
"Fine." Natasha chuckled and grabbed the bow and arrow from her hands, "I'm telling you, Lila, it's easy. I've been telling you since day one."
"But my hands-"
"It's not the hands, Lila. It's the balance." Natasha said, pulling back the arrow, "Watch."
Natasha shot the arrow and it hit dead center of the target. Lila smiled when she saw the target hit center.
"How can you do it so easy." Lila said.
"I just told you, Lila." Natasha laughed, "Balance... and probably some focus too."
"Alright." Lila breathed in slowly and aimed at the target. She was in the perfect stance. When she released, the target hit near the middle, "I did it, Aunt Nat!"
"Yeah!" Natasha happily shouted, "Good job, sunflower."
Lila chuckled, "I wonder what dad would think."
Natasha frowned for a second, nodding in silence. But she kept her cool and smiled looking at her, "I bet he would be happy for you, sunflower."
"Guys! Lunch time! Are you going to come inside or what?!" Laura shouted from the house.
"It's time to eat, Lila. Pack your arrows and let's go." Natasha said.
—Brooklyn Memorial—
Sam and Bucky were standing there, coats out and looking at a grave. Sam has brought flowers to bring to the grave. He had bought it in a cheap shop. There were only a few people there visiting the cemetery.
But it was the anniversary so they couldn't just pass by their old friend. Although they never had the body, at least they made a peaceful resting place.
"This is for you, Steve." Bucky said, raising his beer bottle towards the grave, "A life that was worth a happy ending."
"Well said." Sam added. "Damn Rogers. You had one hell of a life."
"Lab experiment to super soldier. At least he got what he wanted."
"And that was?"
"A dance."
Sam nodded in silence as they looked at the grave. They could almost hear his voice. He was calling them, that everything will be alright.
"So, new Captain America, huh?" Sam acknowledged.
"Don't tell anyone else, Wilson. I swear to God." Bucky said.
"Swearing, huh." Sam chuckled, "Cap don't like swearing."
"Funny, Wilson." Bucky said in a low voice.
"You're starting to sound like, Cap too." Sam laughed and walked back, "I'll be back at the car if you need me, Captain America."
"Haha." Bucky sarcastically said as he walked away. He continued to stare at the grave. There were a few flowers laid on the grave, still fresh. He shook his head and patted the grave, "You were a great man, Steve. I hope you got your dance with Peggy."
—Stark Mansion—
Happy was reading the newspaper as he always does. It was a sunny day and the birds were chirping in the woods. No incidents had happened until he heard a crash inside of one of the rooms.
As he always does, he ran towards the room. He ran through multiple hallways and finally reached Pepper's room. He opened it.
"Miss Potts?" Happy asked when he opened the door.
"Yeah?" Pepper said, turning around. She was working on electrical wirings.
"What was the loud sound?"
"Oh it was nothing, really. I just thought of learning how to work with wiring." Pepper said, "Since Tony was so good at it."
"Um..." Happy nodded in confusion, "Alright, should I just leave you to it?"
"Sure." Pepper smiled and Happy closed the door. She looked at the wirings that she messed up. "Goddamn it, Tony. How the hell did you fix this."
She stood up and walked towards the corner of the room. It was just a plain wall.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y, please open Mark 52." Pepper said.
"Will do, Miss Potts." F.R.I.D.A.Y. said.
The wall turned around to reveal a Iron Man suit painted in green, white, and dark pink. It had a circular arc reactor and one of the most interesting masks a Iron Man suit ever had.
"Update on the portal that S.H.I.E.L.D. is working on?" Pepper asked, looking at the suit.
"Reports have been saying that it is almost complete, ma'am. They just need the timeline."
"Then I'll need a plan." Pepper started thinking. Her plan was to invade the Helicarrier as soon as they open the portal, "I'll update you on the plan, F.R.I.D.A.Y. For now, name the suit Rescue."
—S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier—
Carol was staring out of the window into the very vast ocean. It was night time, so the moon was quite high into the sky. There were birds in the distance, travelling at such a dark hour. Soft and subtle sounds of the waves of the ocean could be heard.
"Danvers." Someone called her from behind.
Carol turned around in her Captain Marvel outfit and looked at the caller, "Yeah?"
"You're just going to stare at the ocean?" Fury asked sarcastically. "I'm driving."
"Big window." Carol argued.
"One eye." Fury said which made Carol chuckled, "Which was from a Skrull explosion."
Carol walked towards him, smiling. "You're still not going to tell anyone?"
"I'm afraid that's classified information, Danvers."
"Suit yourself." Carol chuckled and looked at everyone who was working, "Busy night?"
"Seems like it. Nobody seems like they want to sleep."
"I want to."
"I deny that statement." Fury said, looking at Carol.
"Hey. Eyes on the road." Carol joked.
"I was serious about the driving," Fury got off the podium and walked towards the meeting table. He sat down and was followed by Carol, "And the portal, Danvers?" Fury whispered.
"Still no way I can open it. It's hard to find that timeline where we left." Carol said quietly, "But we still believe one of the heroes are still alive."
"Then work harder." Fury said and looked behind him. Peter, Wanda, Strange, Scott, and Hope entered the room, "Ah! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Helicarrier. How may I be of your assistance?"
"A mission, maybe?" Strange said.
"Danvers will keep you posted." Fury said before walking back to the podium.
"So, you guys want a mission?" Carol chuckled, "Have you guys practiced yet?"
"Nope." Peter said before Hope hit him in the back, "I meant yes!"
"You know you guys have to practice as a team before a mission." Carol stated, "Look at the original team. They had great communication, had a understanding of each other, and most importantly, had their backs. I need a little bit more from all of you."
"I just want to say..." Scott smiled, "I was part of the original team."
"Um?" Wanda said.
"I meant..." Scott looked at Carol, "continue."
"Practice? Let's get started?" Carol asked with a smile.
"Danvers?" Maria Hill called from behind, "I think you have to put that team practice on hold. There's a..." Hill checked her tablet, "submarine being hijacked right now in the Atlantic. Multiple sea monsters, I think."
"And there's the team practice." Carol smiled, "Let's do this. Whatever it takes."
"Whatever it takes!" The Avengers said.
"Alright, Avengers. Assemble."
