Chapter 7

—Two Years after "The Decimation"—

Tony shyly walked inside of the ship of Carol Danvers. It was very modernised with lights being the main theme of the ship. It was so bright that Tony's eyes were aching. It may have been because of the Benatar's darkness for six months straight.

Carol was making some food for Tony and Nebula. There was some cheese on the plate which confused Tony because as far as he knew, there was only cheese on Earth.

"Um... Ms. Danvers, why is ther-"

"You can call me Carol, Stark. I really don't mind." She smiled, while preparing the food.

"Carol." Tony stood up and walked up to her, "Are you from Earth or some other planet?"

"I'm from Earth." Carol chuckled and looked at him again, "But it's a long story. Abducted by aliens and they raised me. Came back to Earth to fight a war and after that I tried to live a peaceful life on another life."

"Let me guess. You were living a nice life until some of your love ones started fading away?"

"My cat faded away. Name was Goose. He was the only one living with me." Carol said, "You know, Nick Fury spoke fondly of you."

"Fury? As in Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D?"

"Yeah. We were friends when he was in his mid-career. He called me to find you." Carol smiled, "I'm sorry by the way, for not saving both of you quicker."

"It's better than dying." Nebula answered.

"True." Carol laughed. She placed the plate on front of Tony, "Eat, Tony. I know it's been two years since you had Earth food."

"Too long." Tony grabbed the cheese and started eating it, "I never knew I would crave for cheese in my entire life."

"Living in wealth? It wouldn't be a surprise." Carol chuckled, "So, since you are already here, we need to head back to Earth. Fury said no matter what, I have to get you back."

"So, was Fury still a wise-cracking man in his thirties?" Tony asked while chewing some cheese.

"He changed me. I was this woman lost in her personality, but he thought me how to be happy."

"Good for you. All he thought me was how to fix a farm vehicle." Tony chuckled, "How did you find us?"

"It took me one year and a half to find out about Titan. I've been searching the whole galaxy for you. Once I found out you weren't on Titan, I knew you wouldn't have gotten far."

"We didn't really make progress towards Earth."

"We were actually moving farther away from it." Nebula added.

"Look, Fury told me there was some help on Earth that we could use."

"What kind of help? Because all our help in Titan died." Tony said sadly.

"I know. You wouldn't be going against the biggest threat in the galaxy with only the two of you." Carol looked at the hologram of the universe on the table, "Earth. It's in the Milky Way and near a star you call Sun. Is that correct?"

"Yes." Tony muttered, drinking some of the water Carol provided, "Do you have a plan against Thanos? I'm just wondering."

"I have none. I can't fight Thanos alone but I can damn sure hold him off by myself." Carol stated, "So, do you trust me now?"

Tony glanced at Carol, "Now that you said that, yes."

"I can trust you, for now." Nebula said.

"At least I gained some of your trust." Carol said, walking towards the cockpit. "I'll be piloting for a while. You two can get some rest."

"Thanks." Tony smiled as she walked into the cockpit. He was enjoying his food until Nebula was smirking at her, "I don't like her, asshole."

—Japan—

Steve landed the Quinjet near a area where they think Clint was going to hit. Natasha was the only one who tagged along while the others stayed at the facility. There was almost no one on the streets since they all stayed at home after the Decimation.

Steve was checking the ship's system when he saw Natasha already exiting the jet.

"Hey!" Steve shouted which made Natasha stop, "Aren't you going to wait for me?"

"I can handle Clint better than you." Natasha smirked at him, "Just watch the ship for me, Steve? It's about time you got your rest."

Natasha chuckled, "Very funny Nat." Steve said as she exited.

Natasha walked out to the streets of Japan wearing a coat along with a umbrella in her hand. When they landed it was drizzling. It was the perfect time for an assassin to be attacking a gang. There was talk that a group called the Hand was walking through the streets after failing previously in New York.

There was a sudden gunshot in the distance which alerted Natasha. She slowly walked towards the gunfire. There was some flickers of light coming from an alleyway where some civilians were walking away.

Natasha peeked around the corner and there was a masked individual battling some members of the Hand. This man was nothing like Clint, the assassin was killing them with no mercy. Natasha was tempted to leave but she couldn't let a assassin kill people.

"Hey!" Natasha shouted out and the assassin stopped before they could kill the man, "Stop now or I will have you arrested."

The assassin stopped what they were doing. The assassin wiped the blood of his blade using his shoulder. Once he was done, the assassin removed his mask and faced Natasha.

"But, it can't b-Clint?" Natasha stuttered, as Clint smirked at her.

"Natasha. It's great to see you." Clint continued smirking at Natasha until he suddenly pulled out a knife and threw it at her.

Natasha dodged the knife and removed her coat for a fight. The two met in the middle of the alleyway and exchanged blows to each other. They were both physically gifted which made their punches land quicker and harder. Clint was overpowering her because of his upgraded armor and thick gloves. Natasha quickly noticed a weak point on his knees which she started abusing. Clint was struggling at a point because he was constantly fighting on one knee. He managed to collect himself and knock Natasha off her feet.

Clint stood over Natasha and grabbed his sword from his back, "We were friends before, Nat. But that was before."

"Enough!" Steve shouted, throwing a baton at Clint. He flinched but he was surprised to see Steve, "We need to talk, Barton."

"It's Ronin, now, if you haven't noticed." Clint lifted the sword from Natasha's throat, "Why should I trust the Avengers?"

"You're not trusting the Avengers. You're trusting the people who could bring your family back."

"What are you talking about, Rogers?" Clint asked with a confused face, "I thought there's only one way and it's forward."

"Well. Maybe to go forward, you need to go backward." Steve smiled.

Natasha stood up and fixed herself. Clint placed his sword in his back and listened, "We found Scott who convinced us that we can go back in time."

"And is Stark with you?" Clint asked and both of them shook their head. Clint laughed, "Now that may be the deciding factor. Without Stark, Banner may never finish your project."

"Well, let's found out. It's time for you to go back home." Steve smiled.

—Avengers Headquarters—

Scott walked inside Bruce's laboratory where he was fixing a device. Rocket was walking around as well, moving some tools for Bruce. Even though he wasn't a science person himself, Scott thought he could add some of his Quantum Realm knowledge.

"So, Dr. Banner. What are you doing with that device?" Scott asked while nervously chuckling.

"This is a device that could teleport any individual back in time." Bruce pointed at Scott's suit laid on the table, "If you don't mind, I'll be borrowing the suit for some Quantum Realm particles."

"Let me ask, Scott. Do you know anything about science?" Rocket asked.

"Yeah. I'm pretty good in the field of..." Scott was stuttering, "science-ing."

"Oh really?" Rocket said with some plans, "Then what is the speed of light?"

"That's easy." Scott rolled his eyes in confidence, "Definitely faster than a race car."

"You really let this guy inside your room, Banner?"

"His suit is here so might as well let the person using it come inside." Bruce said while fixing a chip.

Thor walked inside, dressed in the same outfit when he went against Thanos. He was holding Stormbreaker and looked intimidating.

"Tell Rogers that I'll be gone for a while." Thor said, leaning into the room.

"Hey, hey, hey..." Bruce called, placing down his hammer, "where are you going big fella?"

"I need to find some Asgardian survivors. Some of them must have survived." Thor said and glanced at Rocket. He was already getting his gloves off, "Rocket, you help Banner. He needs your... brain for science. I'll be gone now."

Bruce looked at Rocket who was frowning, "You better stay, raccoon."
