Chapter 6
—One Year and Seven Months after "The Decimation—
Rocket, Thor, and Bruce returned to the headquarters after visiting Wakanda. There was no sign of any assassin or terrorist in the city so they must have left. They checked the archives and the videos of the battle in Wakanda were missing. The footage of Shuri repairing Vision was also stolen.
The lost footage confirmed how the media knew where the Avengers were during the battle of Wakanda. They still didn't know what Shuri was doing with Vision which was great. The news they were going to break to Steve weren't good but at least they found out how the media found out.
When they went into the living room, they saw Scott Lang sitting on the couch opposite of Steve and Natasha. Thor and Rocket were confused to who it was but Bruce was surprised already.
"Scott Lang? The Ant-Man?" Bruce asked, approaching the three of them.
"Bruce Banner?" Scott chuckled and stood up and shook his hand, "Pleasure to meet you in person. Big fan."
"But you were part of my missing list. How did you-"
"I'll explain, Mr. Banner. We were waiting for you three." Scott passed Bruce and looked at Thor, "My god. You are a lot bigger in person."
"I get a lot." Thor smiled and shook Scott's hand, "Good to find another hero to join our journey."
"Glad to see that you see me as a hero." Scott smiled. Thor went towards the couch to sit. Rocket and Scott looked at each other, "You look new here."
"I think you're the one who's new here." Rocket scoffed and walked slowly to the living room.
"Alright gather around." Natasha said. Scott sat beside Thor and listened to Natasha. "Scott Lang was part of the battle in Germany. Thor and Rocket don't seem to know him very well. He's a father to a daughter, and a hero who can turn as large as a building and as small as a ant."
"Now I understand why they call you Ant-Man." Thor whispered to Scott, "I thought they called you that because you were puny."
"Oh wow." Scott muttered.
"When he got here one hour ago, he said he had something to help us in fighting Thanos. Something like a time-machine?" Natasha said.
"Before we continue." Scott said standing up, "let me tell you how I got here."
—Two minutes after "The Decimation"—
Scott was floating around the Quantum Realm, confused as to what happened. Hank, Hope, or Janet wasn't responding to him. Now he was alone, looking around for an exit. Hank was supposed to pull him out but since something had happened to him, he was stuck.
"Hank." Scott said into the mic in his ear, "If this is a prank, it's not very funny. I bet Janet and Hope aren't laughing."
There was no response but Scott continued swimming around. There was some flashes of light floating around him. Something major had happened because when he arrived, there was barely any light in the Quantum Realm, but now there were many.
"Is anyone there?!" Scott was getting frustrated, "I need to get out of here. What's going on?"
There was a large light in the distance which Scott had to check. It was turning into a black hole and it sucked Scott into it. Scott saw darkness consume his vision and he was turning around in circles. He was getting dizzy and he was about to throw up. His energy was getting drained and he blacked out.
When he woke up, he was in the parking lot where they were getting the Quantum particles for Ava. The van and setup wasn't their which confused Scott a lot. The first thing that came to his mind was go to Hank's home. He used an ant to fly there.
He arrived at Hank's doorstep and knocked on his door. There was something different about the house but maybe it was just in his eyes. Hank opened the door and Scott smiled.
"Hey Hank. Just wondering why you le-" Scott was asking until Hank pulled him in.
"I will not let a criminal inside my house right now, Lang." Hank said with serious eyes, "What you did in Germany is not tolerable in this house."
"Germany? Hank, that was one year ago. What are you talking about?" Scott asked
"One year ag-Scott!" Hank shouted in frustration, "That was two days ago!"
"Two days? Sorry, Hank, but what I remembered was you leaving me in the Quantum Realm." Scott argued.
"Leaving you in the Quantum Realm? That was last year, Scott. But you came back."
"Wait a minute." Scott looked around the house, "What year is this?"
"2016, Scott." Hank said in confusion.
"I came from 2017, Hank. Damn it, I got sucked in a time vortex." Scott sighed and covered his face.
"Time vortex? What were you doing in the Quantum Realm?"
"I can't explain, Hank. I have to go back." Scott walked back outside and cranked his belt, "The way to go back is to go back in."
Scott set the smallest size on his belt and turned back into a smaller size. Scott went back into the Quantum Realm and started diving into different time vortexes.
—One Year and Seven Months after "The Decimation"—
Bruce listened carefully to what Scott was explaining. He had studied about the Quantum Realm before but he never heard about Time vortexes.
"How many vortexes did it take to reach this timeline?" Bruce asked.
"Took me about..." Scott looked at the ceiling, "eleven, maybe. I wasn't counting."
"Guys, what if this is our key in defeating Thanos? What if we went back in time and stopped all of this from happening?" Bruce suggested.
"Thanos? Who the hell is Thanos? I went to the future and everyone was talking about Thanos."
"He's a mad man obsessed with balancing the universe."
"Wait. So this whole mess. That was from him?" Scott asked.
"Thanos did what he said he was going to do." Natasha said with a straight face. "He wiped out 50% of all living creatures."
"Well, if we're going to this, you're going to need help." Scott went to the TV and opened it, "I went to the future. The year 2025. Sad to say but all of you were confirmed dead except for one person. Clint Barton."
"Clint is already confirmed dead in his house along with his family." Natasha stated.
"The other person who died wasn't Clint. It was someone who was trying to kill his family." Scott looked at the TV showing another crime scene in Japan, "He went to Japan. He's taking up the name Ronin."
"What is he doing in Japan?" Steve asked, leaning on the wall.
"Because he went to Wakanda to find out what really happened." Scott looked at Natasha, "He found out the Avengers killed his family. That you were responsible for the disappearance of half of the universe."
—Two Years after "The Decimation"—
Tony was sitting in the Benatar, waiting for a few more minutes until the oxygen runs out. He was already dying from hunger and dehydration, so it was already going to be a very slow death.
Tony made sure to be facing the stars when he dies. That way, he will always be looking towards Pepper. The stars were bright. Millions of them were everywhere. It was quite the beauty for a man who was destined to sacrifice himself for the universe.
Nebula silently went up behind him and placed her hand on his shoulder. Tony didn't do anything but cough. There was nothing that could piss him off right now.
"As much as I don't know you, Stark, I admire your bravery. The thing that you did on Titan, I couldn't have done that." Nebula said softly, "It's quite saddening that you have die this painful death."
"Thanks for the news flash, Nebula." Tony chuckled, "That's the nicest thing you ever said to me, in the two years we've spent with each other."
"You must have some people who cared for you very much. But there are some people who you haven't said sorry to." Nebula said and Tony bow his head, "There must be some."
"Steve Rogers. Good guy and friend. Used to be my right-hand man but there was this conflict and fighting." Tony sighed, "We got lost in it all. I got lost."
"I fought my sister many times. More than you can imagine. But in the end, she died for me. She still loved me." Nebula started to weep, "I couldn't do anything."
"I'm sorry about your sister, even though I didn't know her very well. Quill must have loved her very much."
"Too much. More than me or Thanos, probably. There are some people you love very much in this universe... but you never get to say it."
" 'Nuff said." Tony chuckled, as he heard a noise in the back, "Looks like my time has come."
"I'm sorry." Nebula muttered.
"Don't be. It's my fault I even left Earth." Tony started to smile.
Tony thought the oxygen was losing so he was preparing to die but he still had oxygen coming in. Nebula was already sitting on the other seat behind Tony. He was confused and scared, maybe he wasn't going to die.
"Tony Stark?" A woman asked behind the both of them.
Tony and Nebula looked behind them for any intruder, and sure enough, there was one.
"My name is Carol Danvers, and I've come to rescue you."
