Chapter 18

—Present—

Thor was the first one to wake up, as the ship was floating in the Quantum Realm. There were different types of colours flashing outside the ship, which meant they were near multiple time vortexes. He removed the airbag from his mouth and stood up. One step made a loud noise as Thor was heavy.

After a few moments, Bruce woke up to the sound Thor was making. He, as well, took off his airbag and looked at Thor. He was experiencing some nausea which was normal for a person entering the Quantum Realm.

"Shouldn't we be on land?" Thor asked, shakily moving.

"This is the first time we're using this, Thor. Of course there's going to be..." Bruce paused as he felt he wanted to throw up. He held it in and looked at Thor, "some malfunctions."

"And what are these problems we're having now?"

"We may have hit a roadblock but I'm not sure." Bruce fought through the pain in his head and stood up. He started to fix the coordinates on the front.

"Why aren't they awake?" Thor asked them.

"Because they haven't caught up to too much sleep."

"Is that supposed to be a joke?" Thor asked in a serious tone.

"No. That's really why they aren't waking up. This is the time for them to sleep." Bruce said. He grabbed a mic, "Clint, can you hear me?"

There was some static sounds coming from the other end of the signal. That meant that something hit the communication signals as they were shrinking. Their destination was close but they could easily be stuck in the Quantum Realm forever.

"This is Bruce Banner. Can you hear me, Clint?" Bruce repeated. "Thor, can you check the communication at the back."

Thor followed his command and went to the back of the ship. There was a panel which he opened so he could see how the communication was doing. There were two red lines beeping and one green stable line.

"There are, um... two red lines that are beeping." Thor said what he saw.

"I don't know how to fix that." Bruce answered back. He then remembered that he and Nebula used vibranium to fix that part. "Hit it."

"You want me to break our communication?"

"Just hit it for me, will ya?" Bruce said frustratingly.

Thor punched the communication panel which started to flicker different colours of light. After  a few seconds, it showed three green lines.

"You are smart, Banner." Thor chuckled in satisfaction. "Can you now talk to them?"

"Yes I can." Bruce grabbed the mic and tried to reach the others, "Clint, can you hear me now?"

"I can hear you Banner. What's stopping you from reaching your destination?" Clint asked, "Or are you really tired?"

"Not now, Clint." Bruce scoffed, "How are you holding up? Have you found a place to hide the device?"

"We're thinking about New York. How does that sound, doctor?" Clint asked sarcastically.

"Just get rid of the civilians inside." Bruce said and got the coordinates done, "I'll talk to you once we get to our destination."

"Good luck, doctor. Remember, you're the one who's job is on the line." Clint joked.

"Asshole." Bruce muttered.

—Somewhere in Space—

Thanos was sitting on a rock chair on a asteroid that he used from using the Reality stone. His army was preparing for the large battle that was about to happen on Earth. All he knew was that his mission wasn't finished. His mission at first was to balance the universe, but wiping out the Avengers may have turned to his new goal.

As Thanos sat on his chair silently, a Chitauri general came up to him followed by some of his men.

"Lord Thanos, we have news for you." The Chitauri general said in a calm voice, "Your armies are ready for battle. They are all lined up. They are now waiting for your command."

"Very well done, general. You have outdone yourself." Thanos said in amusement and was smiling. "We attack now. Plan which units will be placed first. We shall let out the worms first."

"As you wish, my Lord. We will set up the units." The general and his troops turned around and started racing towards their armies.

Thanos stood up and his Space stone lit up. The thousands of worms were held in cages, waiting to be released. Thanos looked at the worm-keepers and nodded. There were too many worms for one single portal so the Power stone lit along with the Space stone.

—New York—

Rhodey was on top of a building along with Carol and Clint, scouting out the city. His new suit designed by Tony allowed him to scan every building in a five kilometre radius without doing anything. The only people in the city were them.

After Clint heard that there was no one else, he looked down onto the streets where Rocket and Nebula were standing. He signalled them and they went to the time device to protect the travellers.

"So there isn't a single sign on Stark?" Carol asked Rhodey who was still scanning.

"Nothing. I flew around the island and nothing turned up as Tony Stark. I even checked the old Avengers Tower." Rhodey responded.

"Bastard must've retired." Clint joked, checking his duffle bag of arrows. "So I'll stay here, while Rhodey will prevent anything that goes inside the island. Danvers, what's your role here again?"

"I'm here to keep you alive." Carol smiled when Clint looked at him. "Our goal is to not let anything go close to that device. Not a single thing. If Rocket and Nebula gets too much pressure, we all focus on them. The civilians will be a second option."

"First time civilians become a second option. They were always the first." Rhodey said.

"We can't give up two years for nothing, Rhodey. We need Banner to actually find a way out of this."

"Shouldn't it be Stark who finds us a way out of this?" Clint asked. "I mean after all, he's the one who built it."

"But he's the only one who didn't show up. All of us are here." Rhodey said.

"He's right. Stark doesn't show up, we had to come up with a new plan. Instead of Scott, it was supposed to be Stark." Carol said.

"Poor little bastard. Lang said he wanted to be part of the main mission." Clint joked once again. "Imagine his face when I'll tell him he was a second option."

"Yeah, imagine the face. Why won't you survive what's going to happen first?"

"Very funny, Danvers. I haven't seen shit so far so I guess we'll be safe."

Suddenly hundreds of portals opened in the sky. There were about two large worms entering the atmosphere in each portal that was there. Rhodey put on the helmet and started to fly around the island to make sure none of them escape.

"I'm not going to get any of them with my bow and arrow, Danvers. I think their armour is too thick." Clint said, looking at the sky.

"Then shoot when it's weak." Carol said, standing on the edge. She started glowing.

"Why the hell are you glowing?" Clint asked.

Carol turned around to look at him, "Because I'm Carol Danvers." She smiled, and then jumped off the ledge. She started flying towards the worms.

"What the hell is she doing." Clint started shaking his head as he watched Carol fly directly towards the enemy.

When six worms lined up on front of Carol, she flew right inside of the worms and all of them started falling towards New York. There were rays of photon blasts in the sky as one by one, the worms started falling towards New York. Carol tried her best to throw the worms towards the rivers so the buildings wouldn't be covered in worms.

Carol continued her onslaught on the worms, ripping through the bodies and killing it in the process. Clint couldn't get a shot on a worm because by the time it reached shooting distance, it was dead. Rhodey and Clint had to watch Carol destroy each worm in a matter of seconds.

"She can work." Clint muttered.
