After his kidnapping of the Ten Rings and becoming Iron Man, Tony, while retaining his sarcastic, witty, and somewhat arrogant yet charismatic trait, he matures into more selfless, brave, helpful, reliable, and determined person, now using his genius and his inventions to help people as he refuses to build weapons to hurt others.

Tony's most notable trait is his intelligence, being innovative, sharp-minded, and resourceful, such as building his first Iron Man armor and ARC reactor out of box of scraps in a cave.

Biography

As the son of weapons manufacturer Howard Stark, Tony inherited his family's company at a young age following his parents' death. Growing up, he was a prodigy and a genius specializing in technology, but at the same time he would indulge himself in a playboy lifestyle.

Eventually, his fate came to change when he was sent to Afghanistan to test an experimental weapon called Jericho for the U.S. military, where he was ambushed and kidnapped by the terrorist organization known as the Ten Rings. There, his heart is critically injured by the shrapnel from the bomb, and has an electromagnetic device that keep the shrapnel shards from reaching his heart and killing him, built by Doctor Ho Yinsen, another captive of the Ten Rings.

The Ten Rings force him to build more weapons for them, and soon Tony realizes that most of the weapons he has designed were not only used by the Ten Rings, but also used by other criminal organizations as well. To escape the Ten Rings, Tony builds a miniaturized ARC reactor to power his electromagnet while also building himself a suit of armor out of box of scrap metals.

While Tony succeeds in defeating many Ten Rings operatives, Yinsen is killed when he sacrifices himself. He manages to destroy most of Ten Rings' weapons and escapes, but crashes in the desert. Fortunately he is found and rescued by the U.S. military led by Colonel James Rhodes, his best friend.

After returning to the United States, Tony announces to the public that the company will no longer manufacture weapons and cease all operations immediately. At the same time, inspired by his time being held captive by the Ten Rings while also out of guilt for his weapons being used to take many lives, Tony decides to make a sleeker, and more powerful version of his armor suit as well as a more powerful arc reactor, and decides to become a superhero Iron Man. He also decides to devote his companies in developing other forms of technology to help people.

Initially, Tony kept his secret identity as Iron Man a secret, claiming that he was his bodyguard so that he could handle the responsibilities as the CEO of Stark Industries. Eventually after becoming the founding member of the world's premier superhero team, the Avengers, he revealed his identity to the public.

Over the years, Tony has faced numerous enemies, including the Mandarin, a Chinese terrorist leader of the Ten Rings, Iron Monger, who in reality was Obadiah Stane, his father's close friend and Stark Industries' VP who wished to continue the company's weapons manufacturing, something that Tony ceased after becoming Iron Man, Justin Hammer, a rival entrepreneur who copied his technology and sell them to criminals, and eventually becoming the supervillain Titanium Man. However, at the same time he struggled with personal issues, such as his battle with alcohol addiction, trying to defeat the "Demon in a Bottle".

As time passed, Tony builds more and different versions of his armors to combat supervillains, while also developing tech to help out his fellow Avengers and other superheroes.

Powers

Extremis-Enhanced Physiology: After injecting himself with a reconfigured dosage of the Extremis virus, Tony gained superhuman abilities.

Technopathy: Tony is able to communicate with any forms of technology, especially his armor.

Augmented Physiology: Extremis also bolstered Tony's biophysical frame, enabling him to consciously adapt himself on a limited scale both internally and externally, granting him superhuman speed, reaction time, and movements, while also granting him regenerative capabilities.

Enhanced Brain Function: The Extremis virus' most notable effect was that it enhanced Tony's intelligence. It allowed him to have his brain function work faster than ever, having him process information and connect data like a supercomputer.

Armors

Through years, Tony has developed numerous Iron Man suits to help him in his adventures. These are some of his most known armors.

Mark 1 - Prototype

The first ever Iron Man armor developed by Tony. It was still a prototype as it was made out of box of scraps from the cave he was imprisoned in by the Ten Rings, but it was powerful and resilient enough for him to escape. This armor later became basis for Mark 2 and 3.

Mark 3

One of Tony's earliest armor that was improved version of Mark 1. It was used during the early days as an Avenger.

Mark 8 - Silver Centurion Armor

Originally meant to be used by James Rhodes, Tony using the armor to fight Obadiah Stane and Justin Hammer, who stole his tech which started the conflict known as "Armor Wars".

Mark 29 - Extremis Armor

The armor Tony used when he injected himself with the Extremis virus. While the virus healed Tony's heart and removed his shrapnels, it also granted him limited technopathy.

Mark 37 - Bleeding Edge Armor

The Bleeding Edge armor was one of the armors that were used by Tony. It was able to deploy into separate pieces and automatically assemble itself.

Mark 43 - Repulsor Core Armor

An improved version of the Bleeding Edge armor. This armor is additionally capable of Sentry Mode so that it could automatically used even without Tony inside it.

Mark 44 - Hulkbuster Armor

A modified, heavily weaponized version of the Iron Man armor that was used to restraining Hulk. It is also used for opponents with strength that rivaled the Hulk.

Mark 50 - Endo-Sym Armor

A symbiotic, biological armor based off symbiote biology, the armor is known for having a psionic bonding with Tony and it is not required of any electronics. This armor was also known as the Superior Iron Man suit.

Mark 51 - Prime Armor

A replacement and improvement armor for the Endo-Sym armor.

Mark 70

The current and most recent armor. It is created from nanotechnology, allowing it to regenerate itself if it sustains damage, while also being able to create various weaponry and even allows Tony to travel in space. It is considered as his most powerful armor yet.
