For SRGrant (sorry it's late!)

Warning: mention of torture

The sound of gunshots and screams could heard throughout the entire base. The Avengers had stormed the base only a few minutes ago and almost all the HYDRA agents were dead. All the prisoners had managed to escape and they had fled the building. A few HYDRA agents were here and there, hiding in little gaps in the walls, under tables, all petrified of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. One in particular, Sofia, had been in the presence of one of them before, but not on a good note.

Bucky and Sofia had met before when they were both with HYDRA. They'd gone on lots of missions together are were the perfect team, no one could defeat them. And they were both better now, all the crap HYDRA put in their brains were gone but Bucky had been more lucky when escaping then Sofia did. She was one of the prisoners that had escaped when the Avengers had stormed the building and only minutes later, she had bumped into Bucky.

"Sophia? Is-is that you?"

"Bucky? It's me" she smiled at him, a genuine smile.

"Are you okay? What happened when I left?"

"Nothing much, all the stuffs out my head now"

"Same with me. Come on, let's get you out if here" he grabbed Sophia's hand and pulled he along the corridor. Her long hair flew behind her as she and Bucky ran to the others. They were shocked to see her at first, but Bucky promised she was okay and that she was with him.

After they had destroyed the base, they hopped in the jet and went back to the Avengers Compound. The flight would be 5 hours, so they could rest if they wanted and either Tony or JARVIS would pilot it. The whole team were asleep apart from Bucky and Sophia. She was nervous about telling Bucky what had happened after he left.

"Erm, Bucky. I need to tell you something really important"

"Sure, go for it" he said, a yawn disturbing him halfway through.

"Okay. When you escaped, they blamed me for it. They tortured me for months, and while they were hurting me, they were making a new serum to hurt me more. I let them do it because it distracted them form going after you and I wanted you to be safe. When they injected me with the serum, I gave me powers. They were vicious when I first had them, but they've died down now after not needed them for years. I'm scared that they'll come back and I'll hurt everyone around me. I need your help Bucky. Please"

"I'll help you. I'll help until you've mastered them and your perfect," he agreed, "even though you already are perfect to me" he whispered the last part as Sophia leaned against his frame and closed her eyes. The pair stayed cuddled up together throughout the rest of the flight and had fallen asleep somewhere in the process.

The jet landed with a jolt as the team got ready to exit. Sophia was still sleeping, so Bucky lifted her up in his arms and carried her to his room. He settled her in his covers then he undressed and went in the shower. Sophia woke up to the sound of water running. She jumped up when she realised she was on a soft mattress and not the hard floor. A few minutes later, Bucky emerged from the bathroom with a towel hanging loosely round his waist.

"Morning Sleeping Beauty" he smiled at her while retrieving some clothes from his drawers.

"Hi" she smiled back.
