Chapter 10: Jason Gives Out Love Advice

HEY LOOK. SURPRISE!! POST FIVE OF MY BIRTHDAY UPDATES. I BET YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING THIS ONE TO BE PART OF IT WERE YOU?

PLUS IT'S MY BIRTHDAY SO YOU CAN KILL OUR EVEN MILDLY MAIM ME!! HA!!

Uh dedication to Ninjagirl13! Dang that was forever ago. The answer was "I'm with you till the end of the line". Yay feels. Anyway I'm going to run before I get eaten alive. Bye!!

Jason POV.

This was when Jason was completely helpless. The moment when the son of Jupiter, defeater of Krios, part of the seven, could not do a thing.

He could feel himself slipping away. Slower and more painfully than Hazel. Her breathing had gone silent, her body cold, which she'd predicted would happen. She had foretold everything.

Hazel had told him she was going to save Frank. A one way journey, until he came to see her. He tried to talk her out of it, but she'd stared into him with her golden eyes.

"I have to do this, Jason. I will be ok." She'd said. "I will go cold and become pale, but I will be ok."

She looked like a corpse.

Jason could remember the shock of it all. One moment Percy was telling at them to get out, then a burst of blue light sent Jason's nerves on fire. He figured that if he could be electrocuted, that's what it would feel like.

He remembered falling, dimly. Then he was underwater. The flash of cold that shocked all his senses. The water flooded his lungs.

And then he was here. Shivering wet, slightly terrified, and extremely irritated.

Especially when they found out exactly what was going on. It was crazy. Like worse than normal crazy. This was the primordial of Crazy.

Not to mention it was like a huge bow to Jason's ego. Seriously? He use to think he was about the same level as Percy. But Chaos didn't even consider him really. It hurt! Even Nico lasted longer!

Jason turned and continued his pacing.

It was pretty much the only thing he could do. Being captive was boring. You'd think he could at least have a deck of cards or something.

The concrete floor echoed his steps in a repetitive beat. He kept glancing over at Hazel like she'd yawn and wake up telling him some great news like Frank had beat Chaos, saved Percy and Leo and everyone was on their way there right then.

He knew it was just pathetic dreaming though. As much as he wanted to see Piper, to hear her voice, to wrap her in a hug and breath in her lemony scent, the chances of that happening before either of them died were close to impossible.

Jason snorted, for a second a smile fell on his lips. Demigods were known to do the impossible.

The door crashed open so loudly and suddenly Jason jumped. His heart beat widely for a second trying to calm his nerves but it wasn't working. They never got visitors.

And he had a feeling this was going to be bad. Very bad. With a little extra emotional scarring (as if Jason didn't already have enough of that. Hello, raised by wolves much?!).

"You've looked better."

Jason wasn't exactly surprised. He was stuck in the and same fifteen foot radius long enough for him to lose track of time. His hair was shaggy, and he didn't even want to think how he smelled.

"Well I still look better than, you." Jason replied.

Calypso turned a nice red color. She still looked like that stunningly beautiful girl on the island though, so Jason's insult was pretty much pointless. But obviously she was insecure about all that right now.

"I will kill you son of Jupiter." She snarled, "as soon as Chaos is through with your friends, I will kill you with your own sword."

"Good luck with that." Jason said stopping in front of her.

"I would've killed you that day when Leo came back, but I was a but preoccupied with not dying. You know it's painful getting detached from your source of immortality."

Jason raised an eyebrow, "You? Wouldn't that make you mortal, now? And what did you tell Leo?"

Calypso laughed, but it was anything but light and airy. More like cruel and deceptive, "That idiot would believe any thing I said. He's wrapped around my little finger, with about as much control as one of his wrenches. As for my plan, I wouldn't expect a demi-fool like you to understand. I'm only going to be mortal for a little while longer. I already have a potion brewing that will make me unstoppable."

"Potion? What are you? A witch?"

Calyps gritted her teeth, "I got bored on that prison island."

"So you turned into a-" Jason stopped himself, "You know what? I'm not even going to go there. Did you have an actual reason to come in here the first place out were you just coming to annoy me?"

Calypso clenched and unclenched her fists. Then she exhaled deeply through her nose. "Yes, I have a question for you."

Jason couldn't even begin to imagine what this was about. Taking over the world advice? (Don't try it). Boyfriend advice? (Try not charming them into liking you after you attempted murder).

Calypso huffed, "I want a true answer, Grace. You know that cell blocks all your power, even the things you get naturally from your genes. It doesn't effect anything I have though. So if you answer less than satisfactory I will show you exactly how it feels to be electrocuted with your own lightning."

A chill went down Jason's back.

Calypso took a deep breath, "Why didn't Percy Jackson come back for me?"

It took Jason a full minute to comprehend her question. Whatever he'd been expecting her to ask, it wasn't that. He tried to swallow a chuckle that was threatening to explode from inside him. It didn't work.

"What?!" Calypso shrieked, "What is it?!"

Jason couldn't help it. He threw his head back and bust out laughing. "You-you-!" His laughter bounced around the cell block. Jason was sure this place had never even heard laughter before much less any of this.

Then suddenly all of his nerves exploded in pain. White shock engulfed him and his laugh cut off into a scream. Pain ripped through him plugging into every muscle on his body until he thought he couldn't stand it anymore.

Then it was gone. Jason fell onto the floor. What had that been? How had it-?

Lightning.

He stared at the ground panting he felt the air around him which was agitated. She actually hit him with lightning.

"Answer. My. Question." Calypso demanded.

Jason swallowed hard. His mouth tasted like sand paper. Then he looked up at her. "Why don't you ask him yourself?"

She looked offended, "You're even stupider than I thought. Asking anything related to that other personality would negate the effects of the memory spell. That's the last thing I want to do right now with Chaos and Order at the brink of war and stuff."

Jason wanted to ask what this was about a war, but the room crackled with energy and sparks danced around just waiting to fry him.

"Why didn't Percy come back for you?" Jason repeated, he couldn't help another snicker, "Maybe because you're a crazy psycho who's prone to knife the guys that do come back?"

She turned a shade darker, her fingers hovering slightly, and her eyes narrowed like she was just barely resisting the urge to shock him again. "That's not it."

"Are you sure?" Jason snorted, he brushed back his bangs, grinning a widely tired grin.

"Tell me!" Calypso demanded, but her voice was strained. She sounded almost...desperate. Jason made a mental note to himself, that when this was over, whatever happened, he would tell Percy he dodged a bullet, not staying with clingy titan princess here.

"I was perfect! Lonely, beautiful, goddess, on an isolated island! Percy and I could've lived there for eternity! What was so much better about that stupid blonde mortal girl?"

Annabeth. Jason felt his shoulders slump. He could name a million things about her that had been better than Calypso. She was smart, brave, and kind. She was dedicated and she was stubborn. Chaos had killed her to get Percy.

Jason never really had a family before. He'd celebrated holidays by himself, and spent birthday wishes praying for someone to call family. For a while he thought the Gods and Fates just hated him.

But the Prophecy of the Seven changed everything. It had brought together their group. They formed a tight knit team, a family. Jason had always known he belonged with them. The prophecy even brought him with his real sister. And when Thalia wasn't around, Annabeth was there for him, just like Piper.

Annabeth was dead.

Jason stepped away from the cell bars, turning away from the titan. "Why don't you go figure this out some other place, okay?" He said.

"Don't turn away from me!" She shrieked, "You know the answer!"

Jason shrugged. The air buzzed again, humming like a warning to him obey, obey. Jason readied himself for her next attack but it didn't come.

Calypso's voice was uncharacteristically soft. Much like the way Leo had described her before their second encounter. "I can heal her."

Jason whipped around, "What?"

"Your petty friend, she's under the sleeping curse, right?" Calypso nodded towards Hazel's cold sleeping form, "I know how to save her. You answer my question and I'll find a way to wake her up."

Jason looked her up and down. Jason didn't understand this girl. The answer was possibly less than nothing. It was obvious. He knew she wasn't going to help Hazel. She was a nut job, who couldn't cope with being rejected. But Jason opened his mouth anyway.

"Percy Jackson didn't choose you," Jason told her, "because he was already in love with her. He was crazy about Annabeth, from what I've heard, since they were kids. Face it, Calypso, they're soul mates. And my suggestion is you let it go."

She looked like he'd somehow managed to slam her. Her eyes had gone watery, her face grew pink, and her hands gripped the hemp of her dress. Jason bet if he had x Ray vision, he would've seen her stone heart cracked right down the middle.

She glared at him with hatred. "I will kill you, Son of Jupiter! Soon, you stupid mortal! How dare you-"

"-Tell the truth?" He interjected.

She screeched, "Enjoy this cell!" She spat, "When this is over and Chaos rules, I am going to have Leo kill your girlfriend! I will make him kill your pathetic girlfriend and every other stupid demigod and make you watch every second of it! Then I will make him kill you!"

Her eyes turned red, as if she was switching to her true demon form. The words echoed in the small cell ringing over and over in Jason's head. She sang like a curse, letting every drop of hatred flow from her. Jason would be lying if he said it was completely and totally horrifying.

"Leo Valdez will kill all of you," She swore. "I'll-"

She never did get a chance to finish. Not that Jason ever wanted to hear the rest of her rant. But at that moment the entire far wall exploded.

The force of the explosion knocked Jason off his feet, his body hitting the ground hard enough daze him. Hazel was relatively okay. Nothing had landed on her.

The giant hole in the wall smoked. Calypso weakly struggled from under a piece of cement the size of Jason himself. A humanoid figure trotted through the whole deliberately stepping on the piece she was stuck under.

"I will kill...." Calypso threatened, but it came out weak as she fell unconscious.

"Pfft, yeah right." The figure said, "Good luck with that, you Lunatic."

Jason sat up, positive he'd hit his head a lot harder than he thought he had.

"Need done assistance, brother of mine?" Thalia Grace asked, flashes of lightning bursting from the tip of her spear.
