(PENELOPE'S POV)

I don't even know where to start with anything. First I find out Jake basically betrayed us by giving information to Selfridge and Quaritch behind our backs, second I figured out that Jade and Anna were dragged away from Jake( who I hope were in the safe room), and lastly (the information that I am scared of most) I might have to betray my own sister to stay honest to my moral standards. I was siting in my room when I heard someone knocking on my door. I opened and saw Amanda and Xavier. I motioned for them to come in and sit down. After I closed my door and locked it I sat down between my friends.

"What are we going to do guys?"

"I don't know Penelope. We knew this would come eventually. But I didn't think it would happen so soon and like this."

"I'm scared Xavier, the only reason we're not in a holding cell is because everyone here on this base is scared of my sister."

Xavier brought me into a hug. When we were done hugging I noticed that Amanda was looking a little bit faint. She looked mentally and emotionally exhausted. I sat next to her and she layed her head on my shoulder.

"Are you okay, Amanda?"

She looked up at me and smiled weakly.

"It's just stress guys. The worst thing about stress is that it makes you sick to your stomach."

I placed my hand on her forehead.

"You don't have a cold Amanda, or a fever, I think you should figure out a way to be less stressed. Stress can be really harmful to your body."

All of a sudden she started crying. Me and Xavier didn't waste a single second in embracing her. We hugged her until she calmed down enough to talk. She then sat up and wiped her tears away.

"I'm sorry guys I have been real emotional these last couple of days. It's just a lot of stuff has been going on. I'm worried about my sister and all of our love ones. And my daughter, Anna and doing our best to make sure Wainfleet never finds out about the baby because who knows what he will do if he founds out she got pregnant by him. And then I worry about seeing the ones we love die in front of us. Grace raised me and I don't want to see her die. I'm scared guys, I just don't know what to do."

(XAVIER'S POV)

I had a suspicion on what was wrong with Amanda. But it was way too early to tell. I just hope that it is just stress. Amanda stood up and walked out of the room. I stopped her right before she walked out of the door. She gave me a concerned and confused look.

"What's wrong  Xavier?"

"Just concerned about you Amanda. Just thinking about how this war will effect all of us. We are associated by marriage or relationship or blood related with some of the RDA soldiers. If they lose this war, which they probably will, people are going to hate us for simply knowing them. Penelope, your sister scares half of the people here and Amanda, your husband is hated by most of the people here. Not to mention that I am dating your sister Penelope."

"Not to forget about Anna's baby, Xavier."

"Exactly Amanda. When people find out who the father is they will either pitty Anna because of how the baby was conceived but will always hate this unborn child because the man who fathered him or her or they will be honest and mistreat the child because they don't care that the baby is an innocent being and shouldn't be hated because of the man who fathered it?"

Amanda hugged me and Penelope before smiling at us.

"We will be okay guys. And by the way Anna and Jade are safe. I had Mansk and Walker take them to the safe room. I even installed a link pod there."

"How did you manage that, Amanda?"

She smiled a small smile before chuckling at me.

"That was a hassle that was worth the hard work. I have to go now guys. I'm going to check on my daughter and maybe take her on a walk through the halls."

"Just please be safe Amanda. More than one life is depending on you right now."

(PENELOPE'S POV)

I watched as Xavier was doing everything that he could to keep Amanda with us. This had me concerned and confused. I know with him being a man (with a little sister) he was going to be protective naturally. But this was something else. I've only ever seen this type of behavior from men who are expecting babies with their wives. I walked up to him.

"Xavier, why were you like that with Amanda?"

"What do you mean Penelope?"

"You are acting like she is at her most vulnerable moment. She is not defenseless."

"I know she isn't defenseless. I just have a hypothesis on what is wrong with her. And if I am correct then it would explain why she has been acting the way she is."

I started to get nervous as well. I also was watching and observing Amanda's behavior. Random emotional outbursts, eating certain foods that seem disgusting and throwing up the foods that she normally loves. I shared a look with Xavier and my breathing stopped for a minute. I ran my hand through my long blonde hair and let out a shaky breath. Now I understood what Xavier meant when he said more than one life would be depending on Amanda for survival.

"Xavier Chacon, are you saying what I think you are trying to say?"

Xavier looked at me and I understood why he seemed so protective of Amanda. Why he wanted to make sure that she was going to be okay. I was getting nervous with each passing second waiting for his answer

"Penelope, I think Amanda is pregnant."
