Chapter Twenty-One

*Elizabeth's POV*
The moment my mind started drifting back into consciousness, I knew something wasn't right. I didn't feel Zuko's presence next to me, and my body was laying on something soft, not the scratchy sand we had fallen asleep on.
My eyes snapped open, and I shot up to an upright position. I was in a large, richly furnished bedroom and was laying on a very nice king-sized bed. Light was streaming in through tall windows, and a warm breeze was making the translucent curtains sway. The walls were made of shiny white marble that shimmered as the light hit it. The place would have made me feel peaceful- if I knew what the heck was going on!

"Ah, you are awake, Miss?" a soft voice spoke from a doorway across the room- a big archway without a door.

"Where am I?" I asked the young lady who approached me. She appeared to be a teenager, with soft brown hair and gray eyes. She was dressed in simple, silver robes, and her hair was in a braided bun.

"I was told not to tell you anything, Miss, just to help you dress and prepare to meet with the regent for lunch." (A/N- a regent= "a person appointed to administer a state because the monarch is a minor, is absent or is incapacitated." I had to ask my mother what word to use...) I gave her a quizzical look. Get me ready for lunch?

"Can I at least know your name?" The girl widened her eyes.

"Uh, yeah. Sure, I guess. I'm Mairee." Mairee walked over to a large wardrobe, and she started sifting through dresses. "Let's see... What color dress would you like? Silver, perhaps?" I saw that most of the dresses in the closet were silver. Weird.

"No, thank you. I don't like to wear dresses. Do you have any pants and shirts?" I swung my legs over the bed, and I saw that I was wearing a white, flowy nightgown. When did I change into this? Did they change me? "Actually, where are the clothes that I was wearing before?"

"I don't know where your original clothes are, but it just won't do for you to have to meet the regent in a lad's outfit. That would just be improper, especially for you." Mairee was blubbering on now, and I sighed.

"Fine. Let me look at what silly dresses you have here," I grumbled, getting up to peer in the wardrobe.

After a little while of sifting through the clothes, I chose a dress that fell above my knees. It was matte gray, unlike the rest of the shiny dresses, although it did have a thin, silvery belt at my waist. There were two main reasons why I chose the dress- it wasn't as fancy as the others, and the dress was part skort! Weird, I know, and real awkward to get on, but if I needed to be active(running or fighting), I wouldn't have to worry about flashing my underwear to the world. Or Lion Turtle. Whatever.

The shoes I chose were simple, sparkly ballet flats, and were easy to slip in and out of. I had to be prepared! I didn't know if I was being paranoid, but I was in a foreign place and didn't know what to expect.

I convinced Mairee to have my hair in a single braid down my back, nothing special. She kept trying to dress me up in these expensive-looking clothes and jewelry for some reason! In fact, she even pulled out a tiara from the closet! I was starting to think that wardrobe was like Narnia- instead with tons of fancy things stuffed inside.

Anyway, after I was all washed and dressed, it was time to meet this regent person. I had tons of questions that needed to be answered. Did they take Zuko here, too? Where was he? Why did they take me to this place? Who were these people? Where were we?

Well, I could infer that we were on the city on top of the Lion Turtle. But other than that, I had no idea what was going on. Was the Lion Turtle intending this to happen? Or was the Lion Turtle not involved at all? Was I depending too much on the Lion Turtle as a cause of these events?

Before my mind could churn up any more questions for my anxious self, we went through an archway and entered a beautiful garden, passing by rows and rows of bright flowers. I didn't recognize any of them from earth. They were alien flowers!

Mairee led me into a clearing, with dark green grass and fruit trees surrounding the area. There was a long table, with food atop it, and two chairs. The chairs were on the longer sides of the table, and one chair looked much fancier than the other, almost like a throne.

"This way. You may sit until the regent speaks with you." Mairee bowed, then left the way we came. I cautiously approached the less-fancy plush chair, pulling it out and circling it. This place was weird.

Sighing, I sat down, drumming my fingers on the table impatiently. Why wasn't this regent person already here? Kind of rude, being late to their own meeting with someone they kidnapped.

"We didn't kidnap you," A voice spoke out from another entrance I didn't see before. "And you are sitting in the wrong chair." A tall woman came into view. She looked graceful and dignified, with a white flowing dress. Her white hair was pinned up, and I was almost shocked by her beauty.

It took me a moment to snap out of my daze. "How did you know what I was thinking?"

"Before I answer that, you must sit in the right chair." She motioned towards the throne-like chair, and I stood slowly.

"Why do I have to sit in that chair?" I asked. The woman gave me a look, a look that startled me and made me feel like she was looking into my soul. A voice spoke inside of my head, making my eyes go wide. "Please, Your Highness, just sit in the chair and then I shall discuss everything. It is not fitting for a regent to sit in the throne while the royalty sits in the normal chair."

I obeyed, walking around the other side of the table and sitting in the throne. The woman nodded at me, then strode to the normal chair, a servant appearing and pulling out the chair for her. She sat, the servant scurrying away.

"So, I am sure that you have many questions by now. First, let me tell you, you are on a Lion Turtle as you have suspected. This is one of the three Grand Lion Turtles who live in space. Each one gave special bending powers to three children named Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. This specific turtle is the one that gave Beta his bending, as well as me. This is the Mindbender Turtle. The three Grand Lion Turtles are coming together for a meeting, to figure out what to do about the older brothers' plan. You are very important. You can bend two elements, yes?" I nodded. "What you don't know is that you have a hidden, ancient ability. It came from Alpha, Beta, and Gamma's ancestors- Omnibending. You can bend all the elements, not just the four elements, but Mindbending, Timebending, Dimensionbending, and even any bending us mortals do not know about. The Turtle told me to find you and give you hospitality here, so you can be part of this meeting. You are the chosen one. Each Lion Turtle has a regent like me. We are waiting for you. You are the leader for all of us. We don't know exactly what will happen at this meeting, but you are the most important."

I was speechless. Surely this wasn't true! And I hadn't even bended anything different than two elements! How could I be able to bend... well, everything

__________________________________________________

Aaand there you go! Don't worry, you'll find out where Zuko is in the next chapter, and how she'll be able to bend everything. Sorry, I had to end this chapter in the middle of the scene. I really wanted to update it for ya'll!

By the way, "Mairee" is said like "Mary." I was going to have it be Mary, but I wanted something more exotic. Or whatever.

Oh, question! When I say someone "bended" something, or "waterbended", should I say "bent?" So it would be "She bent..." and "waterbent"? I don't know. Neither of them sound right, so I have just been using -ed instead of -t.

Thanks for reading!
