Chapter Ten

*still Zuko's POV*

"Will you guys just shut your airholes?!" I yelled over the ruckus. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked over to me. I sent them all a glare, and they seemed to shrink back.

        "What's your problem?" Toph asked.

"Well," I snapped, "You guys were being too loud and annoying. Just stop playing around with the tele-whatever and sit still and stop yelling!"

"No one else is even home. There's no adults to stop us," Toph replied matter-of-factly.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Katara spoke up. "Don't speak like that. We'll have to leave soon, anyway, since July's mother will probably be home in a little while."

        "Party pooper." Toph muttered.

"What did you just say?" Katara asked.

"Party pooper. I heard it on the TV when you guys were going through stuff. I'm not sure what it means, though. I think you say it when someone does something you don't like."

Sokka was trying not to laugh. "But... Poop!" At this, Aang, Toph and Sokka burst into laughter while Katara looked down at them disapprovingly. I just glared ahead at the wall. Why am I surrounded by idiots? Ugh. I turned my gaze to the doorway. When was Elizabeth going to be home? She never came back to get her bag and things to go to school! Right? Her bag was sitting near the door. She wouldn’t just go without it, right?

"Hey, guys. Guys! GUYS!!" I shouted over them again. Yet again, they all stopped their bickering and laughing to face me.

        "What now?" Sokka said.

        "Uh, has anyone seen Elizabeth?"

"No, she's at school." Aang replied.

"Are you sure? Doesn't she need her bag for school, though?" I pointed to her bag, and everyone looked over. "And I don't think she came home after I saw her this morning. She went for a walk and I came with her. And then I... Er, I left and came back here. I haven't seen her since."

"So... is she missing?" Aang suggested. The room went silent as everyone pondered over the thought.

"She must be. Earlier I saw her... what's it called? I think it was called a fo... a foo... a foee..... Um..." Sokka struggled with a word.

        "A what?" I asked.

"Do you mean this? Her phone? The thing these people communicate with and bring around everywhere?" Aang held up a small box with a light blue case.

Sokka nodded. "Yeah, that's the thing."

All of a sudden, the phone made a noise, making Aang drop it and everyone jump in surprise. It kept making the noise, and one side of the box lit up. It had a small picture of July, and some strange symbols in that writing of theirs. There was a green box and a red box. The phone kept making noise, so Aang picked it up, accidentally touching the green box.

"WHERE ON EARTH ARE YOU?!" a voice yelled out from it.

        "What?!"

        "What the heck?"

        "How is it doing that?!"

"Where is the voice coming from?"

        "What just happened?"

We were all startled, and were shouting questions about what was going on.

"Oh. Is this the gaang?" the voice asked.

"Um, yes? I think? And who is this?" Katara replied.

"It's July. I was calling to see where Elizabeth was. She hasn't come to school and isn't replying to any of my texts." What was a text? We looked, puzzled, at one another, and I just shrugged.

"Uh, we don't know where she is, either. We'll go look for her, though." I spoke, and nodded at the group.

"Okay. Just find her soon, okay?" The voice said, and then there was a noise, and there was silence.

"Let's go find her!" Sokka exclaimed, jumping up from the couch. "Team Avatar, let's go!" he made a silly pose, throwing his fist into the air, and then ran into the front door with a thump. I just rolled my eyes.

        "Ow...." He groaned.

"You might have to open the door, first." Toph said, going to the door and opening it after walking on Sokka, who was sprawled out dramatically on the floor. We all followed, stepping over Sokka. I went out last, so I stepped on him like Toph did.

“Hey!” Sokka jumped up off the floor. “Wait up! I have to lead Team Avatar!”

We all ignored him, but Katara spoke.

“Who says you have to be the leader?”

“I do. We have already been through this before, little sis. I am the man, and the eldest, therefore the leader...” I shot a look at him. “Oh. Um, nevermind.”

“Let’s just try to find her. We can check the park first,” I said, and everyone agreed.

I had a strange nagging sense that something was wrong. I felt more worried than I had to. She was totally safe, and we would find her at the park, and that would be it. She’s in no danger whatsoever, I told myself. But I couldn’t seem to convince myself… oh, whatever. Just focus on getting to the park. Then everything will be fine. I pushed the troubled feelings to the back of my head, but I still couldn’t shake off the nagging sense…

*Elizabeth’s POV*

I awoke to muffled voices… I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I they were nearby. I felt strange, and was laying on something comfortable, with soft, silky fabric covering my body. There was a thick, warm, blanket laying on me, and a few comfy pillows underneath my head.

I stayed still, my eyes closed, in a daze. Was this a dream? I shifted in the bed. Well, it was a nice dream. In fact, I had never had such a nice dream before.

I heard footsteps and felt a presence enter the room. Someone was standing over my bed, looking down at me. I decided to keep my eyes closed and stay still, and then maybe the person would leave me alone so I could stay in the nice dream. So the pleasant dream wouldn’t be messed up…. Because I felt happy, content. I didn’t need someone interrupting my nice dream.

“Come on, I know you are awake, princess.” A kind female voice spoke. Wait, I thought, coming to my senses, princess?

My eyes fluttered open, and I sat up a bit. I was in a huge room that was furnished in red, and there was a long red carpet that led out into a long hallway. There was a flame symbol on almost everything, and I was instantly confused. Where was I? I still felt strange, in a daze. I couldn’t seem to remember anything, and had the nagging sense that something wasn’t right. I just couldn’t seem to figure out what was wrong…

“Relax, my princess. All is well. Soon you will have an audience with Fire Lord Ozai, your father, so we need to get you ready.” The woman standing above me was young, and was wearing simple red and black clothing with her black hair pinned up.

Fire Lord Ozai… there seemed to be alarms going off in my head, but I couldn’t figure out why. I didn’t know what else I supposed to do or think, and so I swung my legs over the side of the bed.

“Is something wrong, princess?” the woman asked. I looked up at her, and realized, there must not be anything wrong. This all seemed so strangely familiar, like I had seen the layout of the place from a distance. If it seems familiar, it must be normal. Everything must be all right.

“No, nothing’s wrong, thank you,” I said, smiling. “Come, get me ready.” I pushed the feeling that something was wrong so far, I almost completely ignored it.

We went out in the hall to get to another room, and we passed by a young, teenage girl with servants walking behind her. She glanced at me, and then smirked, stopping for a moment. Her fierce, yellow-orange eyes that seemed familiar landed on me, and one of the servants behind her spoke.

            “Princess Azula?”

She watched me all the way down the hall, and then said something sharply to her servant, continuing walking. Once again, alarms seemed to go off in my head, but I couldn’t figure out why. Oh, well, I have things to attend to, being a Fire Nation princess, I thought. The thought seemed so strange, so foreign, like it wasn’t mine, but, like it said; I have things to attend to. As a Fire Nation princess, just like it said….
