Chapter 8: Avatar Roku's Temple

"Kai!" Iroh exclaimed happily as he opened his arms for the fire ferret to jump in and hugged him. "Oh thank goodness! I thought those bad earthbenders have hurt you!" He said as he petted Kai's head while the fire ferret rubbed his cheek against Iroh's. "He was a bit shaken when we found him." I said as I stood next to them. "He was worried about you." Iroh chuckled softly and scratched Kai behind the ear. "I was worried about him too." He said as Kai groaned in pleasure from the scratches. I giggled at Kai sounds, before suddenly yawning tiredly.

"Sorry!" I said as I yawned again. "It's been a long day and night... nights actually." I added and yawned again. "Then I believe it's time that we get back to the ship then!" Iroh said with a cheerful smiled and walked over to Nico. Zuko nodded to his uncle in agreement and walked over to the komodo rhino and got up on the saddle. "Come on Asami." He said and offered his hand for me to help me up. I smiled and placed my hand in his. Zuko then pulled me up onto Nico and placed me in front of him again, while Iroh was sitting in the back with Kai on his shoulder.

Zuko whipped the reins and started leading Nico back to the ship. I yawned again and shook my head as I tried to shake the tiredness away, but I only yawned again. "Get some sleep." Zuko whispered into my ear and pulled me closer to him. "No... I'm fine." I said, yawning in the middle on the sentence as I tried to keep my eyes open. "Sleep." He whispered again, giving me goosebumps as his lips accidently touched my ear, before moving my head and push it against his shoulders. I most probable would have blushed at the moment, but I was just to tired, and fell asleep on his shoulder just like I did last night.

***

I was so tired last night, that I didn't wake when Zuko stopped at the village where Aang was staying and threatened them to tell him where Aang is. I also didn't wake up when he picked me up and carried me to my bed. Only time I did wake up was when my head met the pillow, but only for a few seconds to see Zuko leave my room until my eyes closed again form sleepiness.

But the morning I woke up, I was in for a surprise...

***

"What's going on?" I asked as I walked onto the deck with Kai on my shoulder. After I woke up, I decided to keep my hair down and got dressed in a red crop top with a black skirt, along with red fingerless gloves with black lace at the end, Kai and I went to the dining room for breakfast. But when we got there, we were the only ones there. We waited a few minutes for Zuko and Iroh to come, but after a while, I gave up and started walking around the ship in search of the two royal firebenders. It wasn't long until I heard Zuko's voice on deck, throwing orders around.

Both Zuko and Iroh turned around to face me after they heard me, while the rest of the crew continued doing what they have been ordered to do. "Asami! Maybe you can talk some sense into him!" Iroh exclaimed as he waved his hand towards Zuko with an annoyed look, while his nephew looked through a telescope. "Again...what's going on?" I asked as I patted Kai softly on the back while I walked over to Iroh. "You're brother is going to the Crescent Island." Zuko said without looking away from the telescope. "Say what now?" I asked shocked.

"The Crescent Island? As in Avatar Roku's Temple? As in the Fire Temple in the Fire Nation?" I asked, mentally hoping and begging the universe that it isn't the very same island. "You've been there?" Iroh asked in surprise while Zuko looked over his shoulder at me for a split second in surprise as well. "Only once for Protector training." I answered as I crossed my arms. "Now please tell my brother isn't going into the Fire Nation and is going to a different and a very safe Crescent Island." I asked as I turned to Iroh for answers with worry in my eyes. Iroh sighed softly with sorry eyes and looked over to Zuko who was staring with a neutral expression.

"He's going to the Crescent Island in the Fire Nation." Zuko answered before turning back to his telescope and looked through it again. "Are you kidding me!" I groaned as I shook my head in frustration and worry. "Does my brother have a death wish or something?" I asked before petting Kai softly after he rubbed his cheek against mine to calm me down. "He's not the only one with a death wish." Iroh said to me before glaring a pointed look at Zuko's back. "Sailing into Fire Nation waters. Of all the foolish things you've done in your 16 years Prince Zuko, this is the most foolish!"

My eyes furrowed in confusion at Iroh's words before widening in realization with a gasp as I remembered. Zuko was banished from the Fire Nation. Meaning... he is not allowed back home until he has captured the Avatar. Who, is by the my younger brother, who also apparently has a death wish, because he's flying straight into the very Nation that wants him dead!

"I have no choice, Uncle!" Zuko said without looking away from his telescope. "Have you completely forgotten that the Fire Lord banished you!?!" Iroh asked in a raised and angry voice. "What if you're caught?" He asked, only this time in a worry voice tone. "I'm chasing the Avatar!" Zuko exclaimed as he turned and faced his uncle and I. "My father will understand why I am returning home!" "I'm sure he would." I muttered under my breath as I rolled my eyes, while Iroh nodded to me in agreement.

"You give him too much credit." Iroh said as he crossed his arms. "My brother is not the understanding type." He added, but Zuko just ignored him and looked back into the telescope. Iroh sighed in both defeat and frustration, looking to me for help but I just shrugged. I didn't know what to say to the Scar Prince to change his mind. The retired general stared at for a moment before looking back to his nephew. "If you won't turn around for my sake, or yours, then do it for Asami." Iroh said, catching me by surprise, as well as Zuko. Because he quickly turned away from his telescope and stared at us in shock.

"If you go into Fire Nation waters and get caught, Asami will get caught as well. And you know exactly what they would do to her. Especially when they find that not only is she an airbender, but the Avatar's Protector as well!" Iroh stated as he looked at the banished prince with a pointed look. Zuko looked at me with eyes that had mixed feelings in them while I stared a him with a neutral expression, but having mixed feelings as well. Iroh is right, if Zuko gets caught, I will get caught as well. Zuko will be thrown into prison, mean while I would most probable get killed or tortured for any information they think I can tell them.

Zuko looked conflicted over what he had to do, but it soon disappeared when we heard a familiar groan. He quickly turned back to his telescope while the rest of us looked up to the sky. "There they are!" Zuko said when he spotted Appa through the telescope before turning around. "Helmsman! Full steam ahead!" He ordered and turned to look in front of him again. The second he ordered, the ship started going faster and was gaining up with Appa. "Prepare the fireballs!" Zuko ordered as soon as Appa could be seen without a telescope.

"Fireballs? Wait a minute... You're going to shoot them down!" I exclaimed in shock as a catapult raised up from below deck onto the ship. But Zuko just ignored me and ordered the crew to ready the fireballs. The started pouring something onto the ball, probable oil or something flammable, but the second it got on the ball, a horrible smell came out. "Oh! Ew!" I exclaimed as I plucked my nose. Kai yipped in disgust as he jumped back and put his front paws over his nose. Iroh grimaced at the terrible smell and took out a van as he started waving the smell away from his nose.

"Uh! Really Prince Zuko!?! Couldn't you shoot them down with something a little more fragrant?" Iroh asked as he waved his fan. "Monkey Feathers! It smells worse than Appa's snot!" I exclaimed as I continued holding my nose closed, while Kai groaned over the smell. Zuko just ignored us, again, and threw a flame at the ball, lighting it up. "On my mark..." He ordered as he raised his hand up in the air and waited for Appa to get in range before ordering again as he brought his hand down, "Fire!" The second he ordered, the crew released the catapult and shot the fireball straight at Appa.

"No!" I screamed and went to reflect is away, but Zuko held me back before I could reflect it. Luckily, Appa moved out of the way before it could hit him. I sighed in relief when I saw the fireball miss them, but I soon gasp with wide worried eyes when I saw what we were closing in on. "Zuko!" I called out and grabbed his shoulder. Zuko turned and looked at me and was about to speak, but I just pointed to what was in front of us with wide slightly scared eyes.

He frowned at my expression and turned to see what I was pointing at and gasped when he saw it. "A blockade!" Zuko exclaimed with wide worried eyes. "Technically you are still in Earth Kingdom waters! Turn back now and they can not arrest you!" Iroh said as he tried once again to talk Zuko into turning around. But Zuko looked up to where Appa was flying and saw them still heading towards Fire Nation. "He's not turning around!" Zuko exclaimed as I stared up with shocked eyes. Aang what in blazes are you up to? What could possible be in the Crescent Island for you?

"Please Prince Zuko! If the Fire Nation captures you, there is nothing I can do! Do not follow the Avatar." Iroh tried again as we got closer and closer to the blockade. "If not for my sake, but for Asami." He added as he put his hand on my shoulder that didn't have Kai on. Zuko looked at us again with mixed feelings before closing his eyes and looked down in defeat. "I'm sorry, Uncle... Asami." Zuko said softly before looking up with determination. "Run the blockade!" He ordered in a strong voice and pointed forward.

Not even a second has past, and it started raining fireballs on us. The ship was able to dodge almost all of the fireballs, but the fireballs that hit the ocean made the ship rock and made huge waves come over the ship. "Oh!" I exclaimed as I tried balance myself, but I soon fell down on my back after my feet had slipped from the water that came on deck. "Asami!" Iroh called out as he run over to me and helped me up. "Are you alright?" He asked as he slowly lifted me up to my feet. "I... I think so." I said as I rubbed my head.

"Where's Kai?"

My eyes widen when I realized my fire ferret wasn't on my shoulder. "Kai!?! Kai?!?" I franticly started screaming as I looked around me in search of my animal best friend. "Over here!" Zuko called out as he walked over to me with a shaky, wet Kai in his arms. "Oh thank goodness!" I exclaimed in relief and took him back in my arms. "You almost gave me an heart attack!" "Maybe you and him should go back inside where it is safe." Zuko suggested as he grabbed my arm, keeping me up when the ship rocked again. After hearing his suggestion, I couldn't help but glare at him.

"Excuse me?" I asked I glared at him. "What? Its not safe out here for you!" Zuko exclaimed while still holding my arm. "I'm the Avatar's Protector! I can handle anything." He went to argue with me, but got interrupted when fireball hit the ship and made it shake. Zuko quickly wrapped his arm around my waist and held me tight against him, keeping me from falling down. "Prince Zuko! The engines are damaged! We need to stop and make repairs!" The engineer exclaimed as he run up on the deck and pointed at the smoke coming out of the engines. "Do not stop this ship." Zuko ordered with a growl.

"Zuko... Those broken engines are only going to slow us down." I said as I held Kai close to me. "Not enough to stop us from getting to Crescent Island." Zuko said without looking at me. I sighed softly at his remark and looked up at Appa in worry. For some reason, my little brother decided to go into the one nation that wants to capture and most possible kill him. What that reason was, I do not know. All I do know for sure, is that it is mostly likely very important.

As if things couldn't get worse, somebody, from the sound of it, Sokka fell off Appa and is heading head first into the ocean. Before I could scream or do anything, Appa dived down and caught Sokka before he could hit the water. It was a good thing, but unfortunately, Appa and everyone else was now directly in front of the fireball shooting ships. "Oh no..." I muttered under my breath as my eyes widen in both worry in fear as I watched my brother and his Sky Bison get closer and closer to the blockade. As if the universe wanted to give me a heart attack, the ship shot a fireball straight at Appa.

"No!" I screamed as the fireball flew towards them. Luckily, my brother's reflexes and instincts was as quick as mine. Aang had jumped up and kicked a strong blast of air at the fireball, destroying it to tiny little pieces. He quickly jumped back on Appa and flew right through the blockade, right into the Fire Nation. "They made it!" I cheered as I hugged Kai, who was chirping excitedly in victory. But as quickly as the excitement came, as quickly has it disappear when I saw that we're coming closer to the blockade.

"We're on a collision course!" Iroh exclaimed as he pointed at the two ships that was closing our path. My eyes widen even more when I saw the two ships and realized that if we don't move through quick enough, the ships will either crash into us, or we will crash right into them. "We can make it!" Zuko exclaimed confidently. I silently gulped as I stared at the incoming collision course, hugging Kai closer and tighter to my chest.

We got between the two ships, and they suddenly just stopped. "What the..." I muttered under my breath as I frowned in confusion. Both Zuko and I looked at each other questionable before looking up. On one of the ships, was Commander Zhao staring down at un with emotionless face expression. "He's letting us through?" I asked quietly as Zuko looked up at Zhao with his usual glare, while Iroh played with his beard in thought.

***

"What's he up to, Uncle? Why didn't Commander Zhao arrest me?" Zuko asked as he stared out into the ocean. "Because he wants to follow you." Iroh answered as he stood next of me. "He knows you'll lead him to the prize you're both after... the Avatar." I sighed slightly as I brought Kai to my chest and hugged him for comfort. "If Zhao wants to follow a trail of smoke, then that's exactly what I'll let him do." Zuko said with a voice full of determination.

"What's your plan?" I asked as I put Kai on my shoulder. "I'm going to take one of the spare boats and use it to go to Avatar Roku's Temple, while Uncle will use the ship to lure Zhao and his men away from us." Zuko answered and turned around to face me. I slowly nodded as I thought through the plan in my head. "I'm going with you." Zuko's eyes turned from usual glare to frustrated glare. "No, absolutely not." He quickly argued, but I stood my ground. "I'm not going to get in your way, and with Zhao trying to capture Aang as well, I need to be there to protect him!"

"You're going to try and stop me from capturing the Avatar!" Zuko exclaimed as his hands turned into fists. "It's my job." I said as I crossed my arms. "And besides, you can't order me to stay behind. I'll just follow you, if its by flying, swimming or sneaking on to your boat. I'm going with you." Zuko's glare deepened even more before he growled in frustration and shook is fists. "You can be so frustrating!" He exclaimed before storming back inside the ship. "Well... that went well." Iroh said as we smiled to each other. "I think so too." I said as Kai chirp in agreement.

"I'm going to go get something in my room before we leave." I said to Iroh and Kai over to him. "Mind holding Kai for me?" Iroh smiled brightly at the two of us and nodded. "Of coarse not! It would be my pleasure!" He answered as he put Kai on his shoulder. "Thank you!" I said and walked into the ship, straight to my room to get the fans I brought back from Kyoshi Island. Without my staff, the fans are the only weapons I have, and if Zhao figures out our smoke trail, I'm going to need them.

"I'm sorry."

My eyes widen when I heard Zuko's voice and the slamming of my door. "No! Not again!" I exclaimed and run to the door and tried to open it, but Zuko locked it. History repeats itself again... I thought as I slammed my fist against my door. "Zuko! Zuko you know how I feel about getting locked in a room!" I exclaimed as I banged at the door. "I'm sorry, but I can't let you come with me." Zuko said from the other side of the door.

"Why? Because I'm going to stop you from capturing the Avatar? My brother?" I exclaimed as I glared through to the door at Zuko. "This is for your own safety." Say what now? Safety? "My own safety? What are you talking about?" I asked as I frowned in confusion. "Just trust me okay! You're going to get hurt if he's there." Zuko said, which made me frown even more in confusion. "If who's there?" I asked, but Zuko just ignore my comment. "Just know that I'm protecting you." He said before moving away.

"No... Zuko! Zuko!" I screamed and started banging the door again. "Don't do this! Don't do this to me again!" I continued screaming, but Zuko never came back to unlock the door. "Zuko please don't do this me again!" I begged repeatedly, but I soon gave up after ten minutes. Why...why does he always do this to me? He knows how I feel about being locked up. So why does he keep doing it to me?

After giving up on banging and screaming at Zuko, I slowly sunk down to my knees. But the second I got on my knees, the door unlock. "Thanks Kai." I said as I stood up and opened the door, smiling down at my pet fire ferret. Kai yipped at me and jumped into my arms. "Let's go and sneak on to the boat before Zuko leaves without us." I said to Kai as I placed him on my shoulder and run down the hallway, towards where the spare boats are kept. "And after we get on that boat and saved Aang, I'm going to kick that prince royal butt!"

I run as fast as I could down the hallway to the boats. I looked around the boats and soon found the boat that Zuko was on. Not wanting to caught, I slowly sneaked up on the ship and hid so that Zuko won't see Kai and I. "Open the gate!" Zuko ordered as he got the steering ready. The gate opened soon after his order and the ship got lowered slowly into the ocean waters. Kai squeaked slightly in surprise when the boat moved, but I quickly shushed him before Zuko could hear him and catch us.

"Uncle, keep heading north. Zhao will follow the smoke trail, while I use it as a cover." Zuko said as he looked up at the ship where his uncle was standing. Iroh grunted in doubt as he played with his beard. "What about Asami, Prince Zuko?" He asked his nephew as the boat slowly met the water. "Once I'm out of sight, you let her out of her room." Zuko answered and walked over to the steering wheel. "You know she will most likely hate you for this." Iroh stated as the boat slowly moved away from the ship.

"I rather have her hate me and be alive than care about and dead." Zuko said to Iroh and started the boat and started steering the boat towards the Crescent Island. After hearing Zuko's words, my heart couldn't help but skip a beat. His words meant a lot, but at the same time, it didn't make sense at all. Zuko is talking as if going to Avatar Roku's Temple is a death sentence. Why he talks like that is beyond me, but it is not stopping from saving my brother.

***

Luckily we got to the Crescent Island before sunset. Through the whole trip, both Kai and I stayed hidden until Zuko anchored the boat. He left the boat and run straight towards the temple. I slowly got out of my hiding spot and looked down at Kai. "You stay here until I come back." Kai gave yip in protest, but sat down when I gave him a stern look. "Good boy." I said and scratched him behind his ear before getting off the boat and run towards the temple, after Zuko.

I run as fast as I could when I got inside the temple. During the trip on the boat, I figured out that Aang was here because he came to talk to Avatar Roku, the Avatar before him. That is the only thing that made sense. But to talk to Avatar Roku, Aang needs to be in the Sanctuary room, and luckily I know exactly where it is. So, like I said before, I was running as fast as I could to the Sanctuary, hoping that I get there before Zuko does.

"The Avatar's coming with me!" But unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side. I was halfway up the stairs when I heard Zuko's voice and saw him holding Aang. "Close the doors! Quickly!" Zuko ordered the Fire Sages as he started walking and pushing Aang towards the stairs. "I don't think so Zuko!" I said as I stood in front of them, glaring at the scar prince with my arms crossed. "Asami!" Both Zuko and Aang exclaimed in surprise when they saw me. I smiled warmly to Aang before looking up to Zuko with a death glare, making the scar prince flinch.

Seeing that he's distracted, Aang quickly freed himself form Zuko's grip. Before Zuko could react, Aang quickly used his foot to trip Zuko and kicked him down the stairs with a blast of air. Aang quickly turned around and run back into the room. One of the Fire Sages jumped in front of Aang and shot a fire blast at him, but Aang quickly jumped into the air, over the Fire Sage's head, right into the Sanctuary room before the door closed completely. "He made it!" Katara exclaimed excitedly. And not a second later, the Sanctuary door glowed blue.

Not a second later, Zuko and the other four Sages run towards the door. They each shot a strong fire blast into the dragon head locks to open the door, but the door refused to open. "Why isn't it working? It's sealed shut!" Zuko snapped annoyed as he glared at the door. "It must have been the light. Avatar Roku doesn't want us inside." The Great Fire Sage said. "Which is understanding." I said got deeper into the room, catching everyone's attention. Zuko growled in anger as he glare at me and pointed at me. "I'll deal with you later!"

I stuck my tongue out at him as he turned to Fire Sage Shyu, who was cuffed and on his knees. "Why did you help the Avatar?" Zuko asked firmly as he glared down at the Sage. "Because it was once the sages' duty. It is still our duty." Shyu answered in both pride and sadness, which caused him to get a whole load of respect from me. "As it should be." I said, but only got a glare from Zuko and the other Sages. But Zuko's glare soon disappeared when we heard clapping and saw who was clapping.

"What a moving and heartfelt performance. I'm certain the Fire Lord will understand, when you explain why you betrayed him." Zhao said as he walked into the room with his evil smirk. "Commander Zhao." The Great Fire Sage said as he bowed down in respect as Zuko stepped protectively in front of me and glare at Zhao. "And Prince Zuko. It was a noble effort, but your little smokescreen didn't work." Zhao said mockingly before looking over to me, smirking again. "And if it isn't dear Asami! Prince Zuko's fiancé!"

"Fiancé!?!" Both Sokka and Katara exclaimed in both shock and in surprise, but Zuko and I just ignore them as we both glared at him. "Your destiny only depends on what you decide next Asami." Zhao said as his face turned neutral. "Join me in a trail of loyalty, or stay with Prince Zuko in a trail of dishonor." My glare deepened at the Commander as my hands wrapped themselves around Zuko's arm. "I will never betray someone I care about for someone with no honor at all." I answered as I held onto Zuko. Zhao's neutral expression turned into sneer soon after my comment.

"Very well then." Zhao said and nodded behind us. Not a moment later, Zhao's soldiers grabbed Zuko and I's arms and held them behind our backs. "Three traitors in one day, the Fire Lord will be pleased." He said, causing Zuko and I to glare even more at him. "You're too late, Zhao! The Avatar's inside and the doors are sealed." Zuko snapped as the soldiers started pulling us away from their Commander, towards the column next to Sokka and Katara. "No matter. Sooner or later, he has to come out." Zhao said as he smirked confidently.

The soldiers put Zuko and I against the column and started tying us up against it with chains. "You won't get away with this Zhao!" I exclaimed as I glared at Commander Sideburns. "I think I already did." Zhao said as smirked at me with his stupid smirk before walking over and stood in front of the door, waiting for Aang. "You should have stayed on the ship." Zuko said under his breath as he tried to free himself from the chains. I couldn't help but scoff at him and send him a death glare. "And I told you that you can't order me to stay behind!"

"Oh, this is for you!" I said and kicked Zuko on the shin. "Ouch!" He yelled in pain and glared at me. "That's for locking me in my room!" I said with a growl. "I did it to protect you!" Zuko exclaimed as he glared at me annoyed. "Oh come on! Protect me? From what or who? Commander Sideburns over there?" I exclaimed, getting glare from the very person, but I just ignored him. "Yes!" "Seriously!?! I can take him down with my eyes closed and my hands tied behind my back!" I exclaimed after rolling my eyes in irritation.

"Not when he has an entire army at his side!" Zuko exclaimed, causing him to get a 'seriously' look form me. "You do know who I am right?" I asked, but only got scoffed from him as he shook his head in frustration. "That's the problem! If he finds out who you really are, there's no telling what he'll do to you!" Zuko snapped. "The only reason why he would find out is if you talk your mouth off!" I snapped back. "She has a point." Sokka said suddenly out of the blue, reminding us that we're not alone.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed while Zuko glared at Sokka. "Stay out of this!" Zuko snapped at Sokka, who pouted for getting snapped at. "Don't snap at Sokka!" I exclaimed as I glared back at Zuko again. "He shouldn't put his nose into our business!" He argued as he glared back. "He's just stating a fact!" I defended Sokka, but Zuko just scoffed. "Fact or not, he shouldn't be listing in on our private conversation!" He exclaimed, making me scoff again. "Oh my gosh, you're just like Dour Monk!" I exclaimed, getting a offended look from the scar prince

***

After a few minutes, Zuko and I finally stopped arguing. From everybody's expressions, they were relieved. Some of them had even said that we are already a married couple from they way we argue. Of coarse they received a few death glares from Zuko and I, which made them flinch and look away from us. As soon as our argument stopped, Zhao's soldiers stood in front of the Sanctuary door in battle stance, waiting for Aang to come out.

"When those doors open, unleash all your firepower!" Zhao ordered in loud strong voice as he stood in the middle of the row of firebenders. "How's Aang gonna make it out of this?" Katara asked her brother worriedly. "How are we gonna make it out of this?" Sokka asked, making a good point. How are we going to make it out of this? If we don't get out of this soon, their won't be a future for any of us, especially for Aang and I.

"I finally figured it out." Zuko suddenly muttered under his breath. It was quiet for Zhao and his soldiers, but loud enough for us prisoners to hear. "Figured what out?" I asked quietly with a confused frown. "How you got out of the room." He answered while looking up to the ceiling. I looked up as well and smiled when I saw what he saw. "Kai." I said happily as I watched Kai climbing on the ceiling beans. Kai continued moving until he was above the soldier that was holding the keys of the locked chains.

Kai slowly and quietly started climbing down on a column, and as quietly as he could, walked towards soldier. Kai stood behind the soldier and waited patiently before jumping up, grabbing the keys with his mouth and landed silently back on his feet. Kai's tail wagged excitedly as walked over to Zuko and I and showed us the keys as he stopped in front of us. "Atta boy Kai!" Zuko praised Kai, but not loud enough for Zhao and the soldiers to hear him.

Zuko slowly raised his leg up and offered it to Kai to climb up. The second Kai was on his leg, Zuko straightened his leg so that Kai could walk easier. He kept his leg up until Kai got to his waist and jumped onto his shoulder. Kai chirped silently and rubbed his cheek against Zuko's before dropping the keys into Zuko's hands. "That's a good boy Kai!" I praised him as he rubbed his cheek against mine. "Now you go hide until it's save to come out." I soon added as Zuko started inserting the key into the lock.

But instead of listening to me like he should, Kai stayed on my shoulder and continued rubbing his cheek against mine. He moved now and then from my cheek to Zuko's cheek. "What's he doing? Why isn't he hiding?" Zuko asked as Kai cheek rubbed him while he tried unlocking the lock of the chains. "I don't know why. Usually he listens to me." I said as turned back to me and cheek rubbed me again. "Well he needs to go now before Zhao notices him." Zuko said.

I opened my mouth to order Kai to hide, but it soon closed when the Sanctuary doors started glowing a bright blue light. The light was so bright, that we all had to close our eyes until the light disappeared. "Ready..." Zhao ordered as the light disappeared and the doors started opening. "No! Aang!" Katara tried to warn as Sokka and I tried to get out of the chains. "Fire!" Zhao ordered and he and his soldiers all shot a strong blast of fire at Aang. "No!" I screamed, but it was too late.

The fire shot at Aang suddenly started going around him, forming a ball. But that was not possible! The only way that could be possible is with firebending, and Aang hasn't even started learning how to firebend. So how is the fire forming a ball around him like? I got my answer as soon as the fire moved to the back and showed a glowing man in Fire Nation clothing, with a white beard and hair. "Avatar Roku!" Fire Sage Shyu said in while Zhao, his soldiers and the other Sages stared in worry.

Avatar Roku firebended the fire around himself before sending the blast back to it previous owners, only making the blast strong this time. The blast send Zhao and everyone else to the ground, while also melting the chains off of Zuko, the others and I. Zuko quickly grabbed my hand and started running out of the temple, pulling me along with him. "Come on! We need to leave before the temple burns down to the ground!" He exclaimed as he run while pulling me. "But what about my brother?" I asked as I tried to pull away from Zuko, but his grip is to strong.

"He's the Avatar! He's going to be find!" He exclaimed and stopped in front of his boat. He quickly turned to me and looked me deep in the eyes. "We, on the other hand, won't be if we stay here any longer!" Zuko said and before I knew it, I was suddenly on the boat with Kai in my arms. I looked up in shock but quickly shook my head and placed Kai on my shoulder as I walked over to the steering, where Zuko was standing. "You do know that if you stayed a little longer back there, you could have capture Aang." I stated the obvious as the boat moved away from the Crescent Island.

"Your safety is more important now than capturing the Avatar now." Zuko said without looking away from in front of him. I couldn't help but gasp and blush at the same time as I stared at him in surprise. "You're saying that I'm more important than regaining your honor?" I asked as I stood next to him. Zuko stayed quiet for a moment before turning his head to me and looked me deep in the eye. "At the moment..." He started without looking away from my grey eyes with his golden eyes.

"Yes."

I couldn't help but blush again at his words. "That's the nicest thing you ever said to me." I said to him and wrapped my arms around him, bringing him into a tight hug.
