Chapter 21: The Chase

After a long day of flying, Appa landed in front of a forest at sunset. Toph climbed off first, while the rest of us took some supplies first before climbing down. "Hey! You guys picked a great campsite." Toph said, catching our attentions after Aang and I handed sleeping bags over to the Water Tribe Siblings. We looked to her and saw her standing on Appa's white hair that shed onto the ground. "The grass is so soft." She said as she wiggled her toes in the white hair.

"That's not grass. Appa's shedding." Sokka said while I giggled at Toph's realized expression. "Oh, gross!" Katara said as she looked at the shed hair in disgust as she raised her foot up, not to step on the shedding. "That's not gross." Aang said, catching their attention. "Not at all!" I added with a smile while a bluebird landed on Aang's head, and I picked Kai and climbed down to the ground.

"It's just a part of spring! You know, rebirth, flowers blooming and Appa gets a new coat." Aang said while Momo jumped up and down to catch the yellow butterfly that was fluttering around us. "Don't forget Kai!" I said as I walked over to my bag and got Kai's hairbrush. Kai yipped in excitement when he saw the brush. Like all fire ferrets, Kai loves it when I brushed his hair. I giggled at his excitement as I sat down on a rock and started brushing his hair, getting rid of the shedding.

"Ah, the beauty of spring." Katara said in sarcasm, making me giggle while I brushed my ferret. Appa was grooming himself, until his face turned into disgust when his tongue was full of his fur. Before he could get the hair off his tongue, Appa sneezed loudly, which caused a thick cloud of fur into the air. "Stop! Appa, stop! Ugh!" Katara groaned as the hair fell down onto us all, before coughing when she accidently inhaled some of the hair.

"Look Kai! It's snowing hair!" I joked before the fire ferret jumped off my lap and dived into the pile of hair. Sokka and Aang laughed while Katara looked to me in unimpressed. I just giggled again before I started searching through the hair to find Kai. "It's not that bad, Katara." Sokka said, catching my and Katara's attention. When we turned to him, we saw him bending down with his back to us. He soon stood up straight and turned to us.

"It makes a great wig!" He said and showed us his handmade hair wig he made with Appa's hair. I immediately burst into laughter when I saw his wig. It looked like a tall hair hat! "And a great beard!" Aang said as he jumped down from Appa's saddle. I burst into more laughter when I saw a beard that looked almost like Iroh's on my little brother's face. Aang and Sokka looked to each and started laughing as they pointed to each other.

Katara stared at the boys with an not impressed expression before started wiping the hair of her clothes. "I'm just glad we finally have more girls in the group, because you two are disgusting." Katara said, making the boys frown at her. "Excuse me, does anyone have a razor?" Toph asked as she walked over to the boys. Before we could answer her, she raised up her arms. "Because I've got some hairy pits!" She exclaimed as she showed us her large fake white armpit hair.

The three of them and I burst into laughter. We continued laughing until Aang suddenly sneezed. When he sneezed, he sneezed his fake beard off, along with the other's fake hair objects, while he send himself flying backwards. Aang crashed against Appa's leg and falling down face first. When he looked up, we all burst into laughter again when we saw his back was covered Appa's fur, and the fur made it look like that he was a boar-q-pine.

After calming down from laughing, I took a deep breath before I started searching for Kai again. Just as I was about to bend down, Kai's head popped out a fur pile, and he was covered with white hair. I immediately burst out into laughter again, because Kai himself got an Iroh beard as well. Aang, Toph and Sokka looked over to me, and soon burst into laughter when they saw Kai's beard. Katara looked over as well, and she soon giggled in amusement when she saw Kai.

***

Evening came soon after our laughter finally ended. Aang and I were busy setting up tents, while Sokka was getting firewood ready. Katara was cleaning the water in a pot using her bending, while Toph was laying against a rock while chewing on a piece of wheat. Noticing that the blind earthbender wasn't doing anything to help, the waterbender walked over to her. Seeing that Katara going over to her, I was suddenly felt growing tension. I frowned at the feeling before shrugging it off.

"So Toph, usually when setting up camp, we try to divide up the work." I heard Katara say as I set up another tent. "Hey, don't worry about me. I'm good to go." Toph answered to her, making both Aang and I frown slightly before shrugging it off. "Well, actually what I'm trying to say is, some of us might fetch water, while someone else might set up the fire pit, or put up the tent. Even Momo does his fair share." Katara said as she opened her hands to let Momo drop some nuts and berries in her hand.

"Katara, I'm fine. I can carry my own weight. I don't need a fire, I've already collected my own food and look," Toph said and then earthbends a rock tent over her. "My tent's all set up." Impressive. I thought to myself while I got the sleeping bags for the tents. "Well, that's great for you, but we still need to finish-" Katara started again with slight irritation until she got cut off by an angry Toph."I don't understand what's the problem here!"

"Never mind." Katara said in frustration and marched away. Toph huffed and bended herself into her tent. I watched what happened in front of me with a worried frown. "I got a bad feeling about this Kai." I said to my fire ferret as I walked over to him, who was sitting next to my bag. I sat down on a rock and picked Kai up and placed him on my lap. "Let's hope things stay calm here." I said and started brushing him.

I continued brushing Kai until Sokka crying out in pain caught my attention along with my little brother calling out sorry. I looked up and saw Appa's saddle on top of Sokka. "You okay Sokka?" I asked as I placed Kai on my shoulder and walked over to them. "Never been better." Sokka groaned, making me roll my eyes before I turned to face my brother. "Why didn't you call me over to help?" I asked, only getting a shrug for an answer, making me roll my eyes again.

"Come on! Let's set the Water Tribe boy free." I said and lifted the saddle. Aang soon joined my side and helped me lift the saddle up and off Sokka. "Phew! Finally! Freedom!" Sokka cried in relief as he crawled out from under the saddle. Both Aang and I rolled our eyes before putting the saddle back down when Sokka was clear and out from under it. "Stop overreacting Sokka." I said as Aang and I moved away. "Overreacting!?! I could have died!" He exclaimed, making me roll my eyes again.

***

After finishing setting up camp, we all went to sleep. Before going to bed, I got dressed into my Air Nomad clothes. As I slept in my tent, I was busy dreaming about Zuko. We dancing under the moonlight, and fireflies were flying all around us. I felt like I was in heaven... Feeling completely safe with Zuko's arms wrapped around me. Even in my dream, I was blushing like a tomato as Zuko looked me deep in the eyes so lovingly. Zuko gave me a small wink before giving me a toe curling kiss.

Zuko pulled away and stared me deep in the eyes again as he gently cupped my cheek and rubbed his thumb against it. "Do you regret going into a relationship with me?" He asked me softly as he wrapped his other arm around me. "Never." I immediately answered and gave him a slight peck. Zuko smiled brightly before suddenly pulling away from me. I frowned at him before gasping in surprise when he suddenly went down on one knee. "Will you marry me?"

"There's something coming toward us!"

I snapped out of my dream when I heard Toph calling out to us. Seriously Toph!?! Couldn't I just have five more minutes? Or at least just long enough to answer him!?! I thought to myself as I groaned in frustration. Sighing in defeat, I climbed out of my bag and got out of my tent. "This better be good." I muttered under my breath as I stood next to my little brother, before yawning in tiredness. "What is it?" Aang asked as we all walked over to her.

Toph knelt down and felt the ground with her hand. "It feels like an avalanche, but also not an avalanche." She said with a slight frown of confusion, making us all frown as well. "Your powers of perception are frightening." Sokka said in sarcasm while his face half asleep. "Should we leave?" Katara asked she frowned in worriedness. " Better safe than sorry." Aang said making me nod in agreement.

We all packed up as soon as we all could and flew away on Appa. Once we were high in the air, we saw a huge metal thing, which almost looked like a train, a few miles away that was travelling with top speed towards us. "What is that thing?" Katara asked as we all stared at it. "I don't know, but it doesn't look friendly." I answered while holding a sleeping Kai in my arms. "Let's put as much distance between us and that thing." I said to Aang, who nodded in agreement before going back to steering.

We flew through the night. We kept moving until we flew over a mountain and a forest before landing. Toph was the first one to leap off Appa and hugged the earth. "Ah, land sweet land!" She said in relief as she hugged the earth. She soon stood up again cheerfully with her bag in hand and moved away from us. "See you guys in the morning!" She exclaimed cheerfully. "Actually, can you help us unload?" Katara asked, making the blind earthbender stop in mid step.

"Really? You need me to help unload Sokka's funky-smelling sleeping bag?" Toph asked as she frowned at Katara. Sokka frowned at the comment and smelled his sleeping bag. The second he took a sniff, his face turned red from disgust before passing out. "Well, yeah. That and everything else." Katara said with a glare as she walked over to Toph. I frowned at the anger in her voice, but stayed silent as I listened.

"You're a part of our team now, and-" Katara spoke before getting interrupted by Toph who pointed her finger in Katara's face. "Look! I didn't ask you to help unload my stuff!" Toph snapped in irritation before walking with her bag. "I'm carrying my own weight." She said, making me frown more at the two girls. "That's not the point." Katara said in anger before marching over to Toph. "Ever since you joined us, you've been nothing but selfish and unhelpful!" She added with a snapped and glare. "

Whoa there Katara! That one was a bit to far! I thought to myself as I flinched at Katara's words. "What?" Toph snapped before turning around and pointed her finger at Katara's face again. "Look here, sugar queen! I gave up everything I had so that I could teach Aang earthbending. So don't you talk to me about being selfish!" Toph exclaimed before sitting down crossed leg and earthbended a tent over her.

"Sugar queen?!" Katara snapped, enraged at her nickname. Uh oh... This cat fight is going to take even longer than expected. I thought to myself before flinching when Toph earthbended a door for her tent. "Did... did you just slam the door in my face?! How can you be so infuriating?!" Katara exclaimed even more enraged and started banging her fists and her feet against the rock tent. Oh brother! I thought as I rolled my eyes as I watched Katara with Sokka and Aang.

"Should we do something?" Aang asked innocently to Sokka, who was smirking in amusement. "Hey, I'm just enjoying the show." Sokka said in amusement, making me chuckle softly as I shook my head. "Best to stay out of it little brother." I said to Aang as I held a sleeping Kai in my arms. "Word of advice about woman, never get in the middle of a cat fight." I said, getting a nod of agreement from Sokka, while Aang just frowned even more in confusion.

"Cat fight!?!" I flinched and mentally cursed when I heard Katara's enraged voice. Dang it! I hoped she wouldn't hear that. I thought before sighing in defeat and looked back to Aang. "Another bit of advice, never call a woman fight a cat fight while the woman are present." I said before standing up and turned to face Katara, who was marching right up to me. Seeing marching Katara, Aang did what no man should do with an angry woman... He stepped in her way.

"Okay, okay, you both need to calm down." Aang said as he raised his hands up in surrender, while both Sokka and I flinched. Never tell a woman to calm down, even if she needs to! I thought to myself as I watched Katara's expression turn into an angry crazy expression. "Both?! I'm completely calm!!" She yelled, making Aang blinked a couple of times in awkwardness. "I... can see that." Aang said awkwardly before stepping slowly away from her.

Katara turned her murderous glare away from Aang and send it to me. I sighed and rolled my eyes before turning to face her completely. "Just cool down Katara." I said with a glare. "Cool down?!?" Katara snapped she shot me a death glare, making me roll my eyes. "Get over it." I said and then raised my hand up to silence Katara when she opened her mouth. "I'm tired and am not in the mood for a fight." I said and then walked away with Kai still sleeping in my arms.

Luckily, Katara stayed quiet, and even more luckily, we all were able to unpack quickly, and we were all laying under the stars, sleeping. What was even more lucky for me... I was able to continue my dream! Zuko was getting down on his knee, and he was even getting out a ring in this dream when I snapped awake when I heard Katara's voice when she spoke mockingly. "The stars sure are beautiful tonight. Too bad you can't see them, Toph!"

Are you kidding me!?! I groaned in frustration, along Sokka who also woke from his sister's annoying, childish bickering with Toph. Before I could go back to sleep, the earth shook and before I knew it, Katara was flying up into the air and crash on top of her brother. "Hey, how's a guy supposed to sleep with all this yelling and earth quaking?" Sokka asked both Katara and Toph, who was still in her tent, while he pushed Katara off of him.

I was just about to go to sleep again, when Toph's rock tent door opened. "That thing is back!!" No!!! I want to sleep and continue dreaming about Zuko! I mentally cried out and I groaned into my pillow as I held my turtle duck teddy in my arms. "Well, how far away is it?" Sokka asked before laying back down and pulled his sleeping back over his head. "Maybe we can close our eyes just for a few minutes." He said, making me nod in agreement. "Yeah, like five or ten minutes." I said as I snuggled into my pillow.

But, just as I was about to enter dreamland, Aang spoke. "I don't think so, Sokka and Asami." I groaned before looking up and saw the smoke over the trees, making me sigh as I climbed out of my sleeping bag. "I swear, if I don't finish my dream tonight, somebody is seriously going to pay!" I grumbled as I rolled up my sleeping bag. "You were dreaming?" Sokka asked, yawning as he also climbed out his sleeping bag. "What were you dreaming about."

"I'll tell you about it once I finished the dream." I grumbled as I packed up and load everything back onto Appa. Once everything was loaded, Appa lifted off and flew away, over the next mountains. As we flew away, we saw the metal train thing again, and it was yet again coming straight at us with full speed. "Seriously, what is that thing?" Katara asked as we watched the thing move. "And how does it keep finding us?" Toph asked what we all were thinking.

"I don't know. But this time, I'm going to make sure we lose it." Aang said to us and started steering Appa, while Sokka was laying on his back, snoring as he sleep. Lucky fish! I muttered to myself as I glared at the Water Tribe boy in jealousy. I want to sleep as well! And finish my dream! That's what's really important right now. Maybe I can lay down as well and see if I can finish the dream... But, before I could lay down and follow Sokka's lead, Kai sneezed in his sleep, causing him shaking some of his hair off from his shedding.

Seeing the hair, I sighed before taking his brush and started brushing his hair as he sleeps. "The things I do for you Kai." I grumbled as I brushed Kai's shedding hair off his body. Kai just groaned in pleasure in his sleep. I rolled my eyes and shook my head in slight amusement and just continued brushing the fire ferret. But, the more I brushed, the more hair fell out. Realizing that the brushing isn't doing anything, I sighed and put the brush away. "You need a bath Kai." I stated, but Kai just groaned in his sleep.

Meanwhile, Appa flew even further away than the previous time. We flew over a mountain, a another forest before landing on top of a mountain. Once Appa landed, he fell down onto his side in exhaustion. The rest of us fell out of the saddle, along with everything else, but we were all to tired to complain as we laid on the ground. The second I realized that we were flying anymore, I grabbed my sleeping and used it as a pillow, while holding my turtle duck in my arms, with Kai laying next to me.

Seeing me snuggling with my sleeping bag and teddy, Sokka grabbed his sleeping bag and opened it. "Okay, forget about setting up camp." He said as he climbed into the sleeping bag and then crawled around like a worm with it. "I'm finding the softest pile of dirt and going to sleep." He added as he searched for his soft dirt pile. I'm just sleeping right were I landed. I said to myself with a sigh before smiling. Finally... I can continue dreaming...

"That's good because Toph wasn't going to help anyway!"

Never mind... I groaned in frustration and shot a glare at Katara, who was glaring at the blind earthbender. "Oh, I didn't realize the baby still needed someone to tuck her in bed." Toph snapped making me groan again. I'm so not in the mood for another cat fight. "Come on guys, there's something after us and we don't even know what or who it is." Aang said and pulled part of his orange shirt over his head to block the noise as much a possible for him.

"It could be Zuko. We haven't seem him since the North Pole." Katara said as she turned to Aang. I wish it was Zuko. The only Zuko here is the one in my dream, and not even he is here right now dew to the not sleeping. "Not Zuko." I said as I snuggled into my sleeping bag pillow. "How do you know?" Aang asked as he lifted his shirt up to look at me. "I just know, okay." I said without looking up from the sleeping bag pillow.

"Who's Zuko?" Toph asked in curiosity. I sighed and was about to answer her when Sokka beat me to it. "Oh, just some angry freak with a ponytail who's tracked us all over the world, and also held Asami prisoner until she was able to escape from him." Prisoner? I wasn't his prisoner. Yes, he held me prisoner in the beginning, but then I escaped. Instead of leaving his ship, I saw it as a free trip back to my brother.

Let's not forget, Iroh convinced him to give me my own room, and allowed me to move around freely on his ship. Also another note, I could have left anytime I wanted to, I just didn't want to. I stayed behind to try and convince him from not capturing my brother. It's still a working progress. Let's also not forget I also didn't want to leave because we fell in love and got into a relationship. Anyway, let's just get back to the story here please.

"What's wrong with ponytails, Ponytail?" Katara asked her brother mockingly. "This is a warrior's wolf tail." Sokka said as he pointed to his ponytail while his face was still planted onto the ground. "Well, it certainly tells the other warriors that you're fun and perky." Katara said jokingly, making her brother send her an unamused look. "Anyway, whoever's chasing us couldn't have followed us here, so, now would everyone just shhh?" Sokka said before making a shush sound.

I couldn't agree with you more Sokka! I thought as I snuggled into my sleeping bag pillow and held my turtle duck teddy closer to my chest. Before I could go into slumber, Momo suddenly started chittering. "No Momo, shhh. Sleepy time." Sokka said, but Momo kept on chittering, and before I knew it, Kai was also up, and he was yipping in worry. "What's wrong Kai?" I asked as I sat up and frowned at the fire ferret.

Momo and Kai run over to the ledge, and started chittering and yipping warningly with their ears raised up. With the way they were acting, it only meant one thing... "Oh, don't tell me..." Sokka groaned as he realized the same thing I did. The thing found us again. "That's impossible. There's no way they could have tracked us." Aang said as he stood up and looked at the direction where Kai and Momo were sitting.

"I can feel it with my own two feet!" Toph said with her blind eyes open wide with shock. "Oh great." I said as I stood up and walked over to the ledge with Aang. We looked down the slope, and saw smoke coming right towards us, signaling us that the thing was heading right to us. "Ah monkey feathers." I muttered under my breath when I saw the smoke and realized that we would be leaving again. There goes my sleep and dream.

"Let's get out of here." Katara said nervously when she saw the smoke as well. "Maybe we should face them. Find out who they are. Who knows, maybe they're friendly." Aang said, making me look at my little brother in shock. Are you crazy little brother? "Always the optimist." Sokka said in sarcasm while I shook my head. "I don't think we should take that chance Aang. I think we should leave, now." I said as I picked Kai up and placed him onto my shoulder.

Before Aang could open his mouth and argue with me, the thing stopped in his tracks, and before we knew it, its doors opened. Then three mongoose lizards came out of it, each animal carrying a girl. As the mongoose lizards walked closer, chills shot through my bones when I saw the girl in the middle. "Azula..." I said under my breath as I felt a bit of fear coming over me. Before anyone else could say anything, the mongoose lizards started running up the hill towards us.

"It's those three girls from Omashu!" Katara exclaimed, making my eyes widen in surprise. "Wait, you guys faced them before!?!" I asked in shocked. Aang nodded, making me groan in frustration. "Of course you did." I said as I took Kai off my shoulder. "Go hide in Appa's saddle Kai." I said to Kai as I placed him back onto the ground before taking out my war fans and got into battle stance with everyone.

"We can take them. Three on four." Toph said with determination. "Actually Toph, there's five of us." Sokka said as he frowned down at her. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't count you. You know, no bending and all." Toph said sheepishly, making me chuckle while Sokka shot her an outraged glare. "I can still fight!" He shouted, making both Toph and I chuckled in amusement. "Okay, three on four plus Sokka." She said with a smug smirk, making Sokka's face turn red as he growled at her.

"Let's focus people!" I exclaimed and shot three air blasts at the oncoming girls. Unfortunately, the mongoose lizards were able to avoid the attacks. Toph then earthbended three pillars in their path, but the animals were able to leap over them. Seeing that we weren't able to slow them down, Sokka took a slight step back. "Well, we wanted to find out who they were and we found out. Now let's get out of here!" Sokka exclaimed as he put away his boomerang and run to Appa with Aang and Katara.

"Toph! We need to go!" I exclaimed at the blind girl, but she just ignored me and earthbended a huge wall in front of the girls. Before any of us could do anything else, Azula moved her arms in a circular motion, and then shot lightning at the wall, blowing a huge hole in it. "Now we seriously need to leave!" I exclaimed and grabbed Toph and pulled her with me to Appa. "We can take them Asami!" Toph exclaimed as she tried to get out of my grip.

"On another day!" I said before quickly formed an air bubble around us when one of the girls shot arrows at us. The arrows redirected to other directions while I helped Toph climb up onto Appa. "Aang we need to go now!" I shouted before airbending myself up and into the saddle. "Appa, yip yip!" Aang exclaimed and whipped Appa's reigns. The sky bison groaned before sending himself and us into the air and flew away from Azula and her friends.

We flied in silence for a few minutes until Katara spoke. "I can't believe those girls followed us all the way from Omashu." I can, Azula is as determined like her brother, just more on the crazy side. I thought to myself as I tried to keep my eyes open with Kai sleeping on my lap. "I still think we could have taken them." Toph said grumpily as she sat next to me with crossed arms. "Are you kidding me?" Katara asked as she turned to face Toph with wide eyes.

"The crazy blue firebending and the flying daggers are bad enough, but last time we saw them, one of those girls did something that took my bending away. That's scary." Katara said, shivering from the memory. "It's called chi-block. It is actually common technique to use in battle." I said as I laid my head against Appa's saddle. "Can you chi-block Asami?" Aang asked curiously before yawning. "I haven't mastered it, but I can do it if I find the chance and hit the right spot hard enough. It's not as easy as it looks."

Before anyone could comment on that, the sun raised up from behind the mountains. There goes finishing my dream! I groaned as the sun shined over us. "Oh no, the sun is rising. We've been up all night with no sleep!" Sokka complained when he saw the sun. "Sokka, we'll be okay." Aang said calmly, while I yawned from tiredness. "Are you sure? I've never not slept before! What if I fall asleep now and something happens? And something always happens!" Sokka exclaimed as he started freaking out.

"Pull yourself together Boomerang Guy." I groaned as I tried to keep my eyes open with Kai still sleeping on my lap. Before Sokka could speak, his sister did. "Every time we land, those girls are there. So we'll just have to keep flying." Good plan Katara, but not good enough. "We can't keep flying forever." Aang said, thinking the same thing I am. Hopefully we'll think of a better plan soon enough.

***

We've been flying for a while until Aang spoke after a yawn. "So what's our plan?" He asked, but all were too tired to answer him. "Don't know... too tired to think." Toph said as she laid her head on my shoulder, her eyes closing slowly as she entered slumber land. "I'm sure we'll come up with something after a short nap." Katara said as both she and her brother laid against sleeping bags and closed there eyes to sleep. "Yes... sleep." Sokka said in relief.

I rolled my eyes before laying my head down against Toph's and closed my eyes as well to sleep. I was just about to enter slumber land when I felt wind blowing through my hair, and before I knew it, my eyes were open and I was hanging for dear life onto Appa's saddle. " What's going on?" Toph asked frantically as she also held onto the saddle for dear life. "Appa fell asleep!" Aang cried out as he hang onto Appa's reigns for dear life.

Before I could even complain, Kai flew out of the saddle. "Kai!" I yelled out before grubbing him just in time with one arm, pulling him to my chest and held onto him tight. While I held onto both mine and Kai's dear lives, Aang crawled over to Appa's head and tried to wake him up. "Wake up, buddy!" Aang kept on and on until the sky bison's eyes opened. Appa groaned out in surprise when he saw what was happening before quickly using his tail stop us from falling.

Unfortunately, Appa was still tired, so he couldn't keep us in the air for long. As Appa tried to keep us up, he flew right into trees and soon crashed into the earth. We all sighed in relief once we realized that we were okay and climbed off Appa. Once our feet hit the ground, we all noticed that Appa snoring, telling us that he's sleeping. "Appa's exhausted." Aang said as he gently petted the sky bison's head. "We all are." I said before both Kai and I yawned together.

"Okay, we've put in a lot of distance between us and them. The plan right now is to follow Appa's lead and get some sleep." Sokka said as he and Katara walked away from Appa with their sleeping bags. "Of course, we could've gotten some sleep earlier, if Toph didn't have such issues." Katara said in irritation as she shot Toph, who was hugging the earth, a glare. "What!?!" Toph screamed as she slammed the ground with her fists and stood up.

Oh for crying out loud! Why is Katara looking for another cat fight at this very moment!?! I groaned in both anger, frustration and irritation as the waterbender and earthbender glared at each other. "All right, all right, everyone's exhausted! Let's just get some rest." Aang said as he tried to keep the peace around us, but with the way Katara is going, that's not happening, not with a long shot. "No, I want to hear what Katara has to say." Toph said as she faced and glared at Katara.

"You think I have issues?" She asked while I groaned, knowing that the cat fight is now really going to happen. "I'm just saying. Maybe if you helped out earlier, we could have set up our camp faster and gotten some sleep, and then maybe we wouldn't be in this situation!" Katara snapped loudly, making both Sokka, Kai and I groan in irritation, all of us just wanting to sleep, not hear these two cat fighting over something so stupid.

"You're blaming me for this?" Toph asked in anger and marched right to Katara. The Waterbender threw her sleeping bag to the side and made a 'come at me' motion with her hands. Aang immediately jumped in between the girls, and held his hands up in surrender. "No! No, she's not blaming you." Aang said as he desperately tried to stop the two of them from fighting. "No, I'm blaming her!" Katara exclaimed over Aang's shoulder, making me facepalm with a groan.

"Now is seriously not the time for fighting guys!" I exclaimed, but they ignored as Toph pushed Aang out of her way. "Hey! I never asked you for diddly-doo-dah! I carry my own weight." Toph snapped as she pointed to herself with her thumb. "Besides, if there's anyone to blame, it's Sheddy over here!" Uh oh... I flinched when Toph pointed to Appa. "What? You're blaming Appa?" Aang asked in shock, while I mentally prayed that this fight will end peacefully. If there's one thing you should never do, is to bring Appa into a fight, because Aang very, very, protective over his sky bison.

"Yeah, you want to know how they keep finding us?" Toph said and then grabbed a handful of Appa's fur and let the wind blow it out of her hand. "He's leaving a trail everywhere we go!" She exclaimed as the hair blew out of her hand. Well... that makes actually sense. I was just about to agree with her, when Aang snapped at her from Appa's tail. "How dare you blame Appa! He saved your life three times today!" He snapped before jumping down and landed in front of her.

"If there's anyone to blame it's you!" He exclaimed as he pointed at her. "You're always talking about how you carry your own weight, but you're not. He is!" He snapped as he pointed up to Appa. "Appa's carrying your weight. He never had a problem flying when it was just the four of us!" I flinched again and groaned in frustration after my brother's harsh words came out. Toph just stared at him before turning around and walked away.

"Wait, Toph..." I tried to call out to her, but she just ignored me. "I'm out of here." She said as she stomped the ground. Her bag flew up in the air and landed right into her hand before she continued walking away from us. "Wait!" Sokka exclaimed as he jumped in front of her to block her path. Toph simply just used her earthbending to shift Sokka to the side, surprising him, before she walked away completely.

The second Toph was out of eyesight, Aang's eyes widen in realization, just now noticing what he did. "What did I just do?" Aang exclaimed in shock before slumping down. "I can't believe I yelled at my earthbending teacher. Now she's gone." He said while I nodded agreeable, glaring at both him and Katara in disappointment with my arms crossed and Kai on my shoulder. "I know. We're all just trying to get used to each other. And I was so mean to her." Katara said with a voice full of regret.

"Yeah, you two were pretty much jerks." Sokka said as he took a drink of water from his cup. "Big jerks actually." I added as gave them a pointed glare. Aang and Katara flinched at my glare before the waterbender also gave her own glare at Sokka and I. "Thanks, guys." She said sarcastically. "No problem." Sokka said as he raised up his cup to her before he continued drinking his water. I simply smirked and shrugged.

Katara rolled her eyes before turning to Aang. "We need to find Toph and apologize." She said and helped Aang stand up by pulling him up. "Okay, but what are we going to do about the tank full of dangerous ladies chasing us?" Sokka asked, reminding us about the situation we are in. Before I could even think of a plan, Kai, who was sitting on my shoulder, shook himself, and I was covered with his shedding.

"Kai!" I exclaimed in annoyance and tried to wipe his fur off my hair and clothes. "You seriously need a bath." I said as I wiped the red orange hair off my sleeves. "Asami, that's it!" Aang suddenly exclaimed excitedly. "What's it?" I asked with a frown as I started wiping fur off my head. "Bath!" He simply stated, making me frown more. Aang turned to the Water Tribe Siblings with his bright smile before he spoke again. "I have a plan."

***

After Aang explained us his Appa, we took Appa to the closest river and gave him a bath. Everybody pitched in and helped, even Kai and Momo, they used brushed to scrub him. When Appa was finished washing, I took Kai and washed himself while the others help dry up Appa. Once Appa was dry, I finished washing and drying Kai.

"Toph was right. The fur was leaving a trail right to us. But now that he's clean, no more trail." Aang said to us while petting Appa on the head. "Are you sure he's okay to fly?" Katara asked with a small worried frown. "He'll be fine as long as we leave his saddle and all our stuff here." I answered while Aang kneeled down to pick up Appa's fur and placed it into a satchel. "I'm going to use Appa's fur to make a fake trail to lead the tank off-course." Aang said as he placed the fur in the satchel.

While Sokka and Katara climbed onto Appa, I grabbed my staff and handed Kai over to Sokka before he climbed onto Appa. "Look after him for me." "Asami, what are you doing?" Aang asked with a frown when he noticed me handing Kai over to Sokka. "I'm coming with you." I answered when I took my own satchel and full it with fur. Aang's eyes widen, and was about to try and talk me out of it, but I interrupted him before he could. "Don't even try. I'm the Avatar's Protector. Wherever you go, I go."

Aang sighed in defeat before nodding to Sokka and Katara. They nodded back and flew of with Appa. Once Appa got into the air, he accidently flew to close to the treetops and snapped them off. Luckily, he got a bit higher and flew away from the river and clearing. Aang and I waited until Appa was out of our sight and then opened our gliders and flew to the opposite direction while dropping Appa's fur, leading a nice white fur trail away from the others.

We flew for miles until we spotted an old abandoned town. "There, we lead them there. There aren't any people there they can hurt." I said as I nodded to the town. Aang nodded in agreement and we flew over to the old abandoned town. We landed in the town, and both Aang and I closed our gliders and started walking deeper into the town as we threw the rest of Appa's fur out. Once the satchels were empty, we opened our gliders again.

"Okay, let's go. Hopefully Sokka and Katara found Toph by now." I said and was about to jump into the air with my glider to fly away, when I noticed Aang wasn't following after me. "Aang?" I questioned as I turned to face him. But my little brother was just staring in a distance. Before I could question him further, Aang closed his glider and sat down crossed legged. "What are you doing?" I asked him as I stared at my brother in shock while closing my glider.

"I'm staying here and putting an end to this." Aang said as he stared in front of him. "Wait a minute... You're telling me you're staying here to face those three girls? Alone?" I asked in disbelief. "Yes." Aang answered without breaking his view in front of him. I stared at my brother as if he's crazy, wait, let me rephrase, he is crazy. "Are you crazy!?!" I exclaimed as I walked back over to him. "We can't face them alone! Not while were so tired!" I snapped as I placed my hands on my hips.

"We're not facing them, I am. And I'm facing them to find out who they are and what they want." Aang said, glancing up to me for a split moment before looking back in front of him. "Brother, you are so tired that you are not thinking clearly!" I said as I pointed to the side of my head. "And if you think I'm going to let you face Azula by yourself, you are even more crazy than I thought." I said as I placed my hands back onto my hips.

"Azula?" Aang questioned as he looked up to me with a frown. "You've faced them before as well?" "Only their leader." I answered as I crossed my arms. "And trust me when I say, she's evil and crazy." "Is that anyway to speak about your future sister-in-law?" I froze with slight fear when I heard the Fire Nation's Princess's voice. My wide eyes turned into a glare as I turned around and saw Azula walking into the town on her mongoose lizard.

"I'm just speaking the truth Azula." I said as I stood in front of Aang protectively. Azula just smirked evilly at me as she climbed off her mongoose lizard before her eyes moved over to Aang, who lucky either didn't hear what Azula said or just ignore it, when he stood up. "All right, you've caught up with us. Now, who are you and what do you want?" He asked and tried to step in front of me, but I stopped him and kept him behind me.

"You mean you haven't guessed? You don't see the family resemblance? Here's a hint." Azula said and then covered her left eye with her hand. "I must find the Avatar to restore my honor!" She said with a deep voice, imitating Zuko, and annoying me even more. Aang just stared at her neutrally, while Azula smirked in amusement. "It's okay, you can laugh. It's funny." She said while smirking evilly in amusement. "No it's not!" I said with an annoyed glare.

"So what now?" Aang spoke before Azula could comment to me. "Now? Now, it's over. You're tired and you have no place to go. You can run, but I'll catch you." Azula answered with a serious expression. "I'm not running." Aang said as he stood up. "Aang..." I said warningly while I glared at Azula, who was smirking evilly at us both, but my brother just ignored me as he stared at the Fire Nation Princess.

Azula's eyes moved from me to Aang when her eyes brightened. "Two airbenders left in the world." She said as her evil smirk somehow became even more evil. "One is the Avatar..." She said and looked to Aang, who was still behind me as I stood protectively in front of him. Her eyes moved over to me and smirked in amusement as she noticed my stance. "And with the way you are standing protectively, it only means that you are the Protector."

"Yes, I am." I said and held my staff in front of me. Azula huffed in half amusement as she glared at me in hatred. "Pathetic." She said as she took a slight step forward, making me lift up my staff up warningly at the crazy evil princess. Seeing my warning, Azula chuckled and shook her head in amusement as she smirked smugly at me, with Aang still behind me. "Do you really want to fight me?" Azula asked, her voice full of smugness.

Before either Aang or I could answer her, Zuko appeared from an alleyway. He jumped off Mirai, the ostrich horse, and stood up as he threw his hat off. "Yes, I really do." He said as he stood up and glared at his sister. "Zuko!" Both Aang and I cried out. Aang cried it out in alarm while I cried out in excitement to finally see him again. Zuko looked at me for a split moment, and I could see in his eyes that he was happy to see me, before looking back to his sister and glared at her.

"I was wondering when you'd show up, Zuzu." Azula said calmly as she crossed her arms. "Zuzu?" Aang asked after he laughed into his hand in amusement. "Don't call him that!" I snapped at her in annoyance. Zuko stood in front of us and got in battle stance as he faced his sister. "Back off, Azula!" I smiled brightly when I heard his words, but it immediately fell when I heard his next words. "He's mine!" "Excuse me!" I snapped, making Zuko flinch, but he didn't turn around.

"Not now Asami." He said, making me more annoyed. Before I snap at him, Azula chuckled before she got in battle stance. "I'm not going anywhere." She said with a smirk. I glared at her and shot a glare at Zuko before getting in battle stance with my staff. "Neither of you are getting my brother." I said with my voice full of warning as I made sure that Aang was standing behind me, away from warms way.

The three of us had a stare off as we waited to see who will strike first. As our eyes flickered from each other, Aang nervously lifted his staff up as well and got in fighting stance as well. My eyes flickered over to Azula, who was smirking smugly in confidence. My eyes widen in worry when I saw her smirk widen when she looked to Zuko when his eyes flickered over to Aang and I. Before I could warn him, Azula raised her arm up and shot a blast of blue fire at him.

Luckily, Zuko saw the attack and formed a fire shield in front of him just in time. But her blast was strong and when it hit against Zuko's shield, it send him flying before crashing against building's front porch behind him. "Aang! Run! Get out of here!" I exclaimed, pushing Aang towards a direction before charging at Azula. Aang cried out in surprise before snapping out of it and run away before opening his glider and flew.

Azula raised up her arms and shot a big stream of fire from both arms. One stream was shot at me and the other at Aang, who was flying away on his glider. I quickly airbended the air away to kill the stream, while Aang used his staff to deflect the fire away after he turned around in mid-air and fell onto his back. After both streams of fire died down, I run over to Aang and checked on him. Once I saw that he was okay, I helped him back up onto his feet.

"Watch out!" Aang cried out and pushed me out of the way, causing me to drop my staff, when Azula jumped down from a rooftop, and landed between Aang and I. Azula tried to trip us with her leg while shooting fire out of it. Aang flipped away while I flipped over her to avoid the attack. Once I landed on my feet, I shot a blast of air at Azula before flipping in the air and kicked an airball at Zuko before he could fire at Aang. Both Zuko and Azula started firing multiple shots at Aang and I, and we each were luckily able to avoid fire blasts with fast side steps.

Aang flipped over Azula and I was about to follow behind him, when Azula shot a large stream of fire at me. "Asami watch out!" Zuko exclaimed as he grabbed my arm and pulled me away from harms way. Before I could react, Zuko suddenly pushed me behind him and fired at his sister. "You okay?" He asked me and fired another blast at his sister. Instead of answering him, I punched him right in the face.

"Ouch! What the hell Asami!?!" Zuko exclaimed in both pain and anger, but I just glared at him. "After everything we went through, after splitting separate ways, when we reunited, you come to capture my brother, again!" I exclaimed and went to punch him again, but the scarred prince blocked it. "Now is really not the time for our argument!" He said before ducking down when I tried to side kick his head. "We're in a middle of a battle with my sister!"

As if she wanted to remind us that, Azula fired a huge blast of fire at us. Both Zuko and I backflipped away from it in our own directions. Once I got out of the way, I saw Azula turn and was about to fire at Aang. "Aang, watch out!" Zuko cried out before I could and fired at Azula. Hearing the warning, Aang quickly moved out of the way of danger and looked to Zuko. "Thanks Zuko!" Aang said gratefully before freezing. "Did I really just say that?" He asked as he turned to me in question.

I just shrugged at him before charging at Azula, who was busy firing and dodging fire blast from her brother. While she was distracted, I jumped up and kicked an air blast at her. Azula cried out in surprise as she fell face first into the ground. She looked up with a glare and growled at me before spun herself back onto her feet, while shooting fire out of her feet. I quickly bended air away and killed the fire before it could touch me.

Zuko charged at his sister while her attention was at me. He jumped into the air and flipped before shooting fire out of his leg that he was going to land one. Unfortunately, Azula saw the attack and avoid it. The two firebender siblings started attacking each other again when I realized that this was an opportunity to get away. "Come on Aang! Let's get out of here!" I exclaimed as I grabbed Aang's hand and run as I pulled him along.

"Oh, you're not getting away so easily Protector!" I heard Azula yell out behind us before looking over my shoulder and saw her about to fire at us. "Watch out!" I exclaimed and both Aang and I jumped up and deflected the fire away from us with airbending. "This way!" Aang exclaimed and run up a stairwell from a building with me following behind him. Once we were upstairs, we both ducked in time when Azula shot another blast at us.

We looked down and saw her running up the stairs after us. "Inside!" I said and pointed to the door. We run towards the door and entered the build. But once we entered the building, we realized that there was no floor. Before we could fall down to our doom, Aang and I each formed an airball and sat on it as we floated in midair. "That was close." I muttered, looking down as I floated on my airball.

Not even a minute later, Azula came through the door. When she saw that there was no floor, she halted and almost stumbled in. She moved her arms rapidly as she tried to balance herself from not falling. As she tried to balance herself, she looked up and saw Aang and I floating on air balls, us both smiling cheekily and waved at her in amusement. Azula jumped to the side, landing with a forward split on the thin floor paneling before jumping up again and propped herself against the wall on the thin panel.

Right after she balanced herself against the wall, her brother came through the door. Unfortunately for Zuko, he didn't notice that there was a floor and fell right down to the first floor. I flinched when I heard Zuko's surprised cry and flinched again when I heard his body hit the ground. Before I could decide to check on him, Azula fired a blast at Aang and I. We both leaped out of the way and landed onto the thin panels before using our airbending to run fast and head straight for Azula and knocked her down, making her fall right down to the first floor, next to Zuko.

"Let's get out of here Asami!" Aang exclaimed as he grabbed my hand and run out of the building while pulling me along with him. Once we got outside, both Aang and I jumped down from the stairs to dodge a blue fire blast. Once we landed on the ground, Zuko suddenly flew out of the building. "Zuko!" I cried out when I saw that he was getting back up, and soon noticed that he was unconcise. I was about to run over to him and check on him when Azula came out of the building.

The second she saw me, and saw Aang standing behind me, she charged at us. "Aang! Run!" I yelled out to my little brother before reflecting her attack away with my airbending. Azula fired another blast at me before firing at Aang. "Aang watch out!" I exclaimed and was about to bend the air away to kill the fire shot at him, when Azula shot a surprise shot, which I don't find surprising. Luckily, I was able to block the attack with an airball, but the blast send me flying and crashing into the building behind me.

Once I crashed against the building, it caused the building's roof to crumble and fall down on top of me. I cried out when I saw the roof coming down and quickly covered my head. Luckily, not everything came down on me and I wasn't hurt. Unfortunately, my legs and right arm was stuck. I groaned in frustration as I tried to get myself free from the rubble, but it is hard to do with only one hand.

"Uncle..." I looked up in surprise when I heard Zuko's voice and was even more surprised when I saw Iroh kneeling right next to him. "Get up!" Iroh ordered him and offered Zuko his hand. Zuko's face turn into determination as he took his uncle's hand and stood up. Once he got back on his feet, and he turned and was about to go into battle when he saw me, still in the rubble. "Asami!" He exclaimed and run over to me, Iroh following after him.

"Let's get you out of this pile of rubble." Iroh said as he and Zuko stared before the stuff that was keeping me trapped. "I think that is a good idea." I said as I nodded in agreement. My left arm soon got free, and my legs soon after. I immediately got up onto my feet and charged right towards the battle that was still going on. "Come on you two! We needs to stop Azula!" I exclaimed over my shoulder as I run.

Once I was close enough, I saw that Azula was running away, and that Katara, Sokka and Toph was here. "She's trying to get away!" I said to the two firebenders behind me. "No, she is not!" Iroh said and run around the build to cut her off. When Azula looked over her shoulder, Iroh stepped in front of her and used his big belly to knock her down off her feet. Zuko and I joined Iroh and got into battle stance. Aang and others soon joined us, and we all stared cornered Azula against a broken stone wall.

Azula looked to each and everyone of us before huffing in fake amusement. "Well, look at this. Enemies and traitors, all working together." She said and shot us a glare. "I'm done." She added and raised her hands up in surrender. "I know when I'm beaten. You got me. A princess surrenders with honor." Yeah right! You don't know a thing about honor! I thought to myself as I readied myself for anything.

We all waited and watched her. Azula suddenly smirked and fired at Iroh. Noticing that Iroh was some reason distracted, I was about jump in front of him to airbend kill the attack, when she caught me by surprise and fired at me as well. Not seeing that attack soon enough, both Iroh and I were struck and fell down. The second I fell down, darkness overcame me as I went unconcise.

*Third P.O.V.*

The second Zuko saw his uncle and his beloved Asami fall down after getting hit by his sister's attack, he screamed out in horrify. Not a second later, turned and fired at Azula with his bending. The second he fired, Aang and his friends fired at her as well with their bending, while Sokka threw his boomerang at her. Azula formed a firewall shield around, which unfortunately protected her from their attacks.

Her fire and their attacks caused a small explosion. Everyone ducked in cover just in time when the wall that was behind Azula went burst and went flying everywhere. Once the explosion ended, they were met with a cloud of dark smoke. The second the smoke disappear, Aang and his friends looked to where Azula stood last, and saw that she was gone without a trace. Before anyone could question where she went, they heard Zuko cry out Asami's name.

They turned and saw Zuko kneeling next to his uncle and Asami, close tears. "Asami... Asami please wake up!" He cried out as he picked her up and held her in his arms. His tears were close to escaping his eyes when he heard a groan. He looked up and saw his uncle slowly waking up. He sighed in relief when he saw his uncle's eyes opening. But when he looked back to the airbender girl in his arms, he was filled with fear and worry when he saw that she wasn't waking up.

"Asami, please wake up! Please!" He begged as he shook her slightly in his arms, but she stayed unconcise. "I... I choose you! Okay?!? I choose you! No honor in the world is worth it without you! I need you! I love you! Just please wake up!" Zuko begged as buried his face into Asami's neck as he held her tight for dear life. With each word he begged with, a tear escaped his eyes. The more he begged, the more he cried. But... Asami still stayed unconcise.

Saying that Aang and his friends were surprised to hear Zuko's words were an understatement. Never in their wildest dreams did they ever think that they will hear Zuko say 'I love you' to Asami, the Avatar's Protector. Aang was uncertain about what he heard, but when he saw the tears and the emotion in Zuko's eyes, he knew what he heard was true, Zuko is in love with his sister. But when Aang's saw Asami's burned chest, he snapped out of it.

"Katara..." He spoke softly and didn't need to say more, for the waterbender girl knew what he was asking. She immediately stepped forward and was about bend water out of her pouch to heal Asami with it, when Zuko looked up and shot them a warning glare. "Get away from us!" He cried at them as he held Asami protectively against his chest. "Zuko, I can help." Katara said as tried to reason with him and took another step closer.

"Leave!" He screamed and was about to shoot fire at them, when a hand grabbed his. Zuko looked to his hand in surprise and saw that it was his uncle who grabbed it. "Let them help." Iroh said softly as he looked his nephew in the eyes. Zuko opened his mouth to argue but stopped when Iroh's shot him a look. He slowly sighed and nodded before laying Asami gently down onto the ground. Katara looked to the retired general for reassurance before kneeling down next to Asami.

Katara bended her water out of the pouch and placed the water onto Asami's chest, where she was burned. The second the water touch Asami, it started glowing and immediately started healing her burned chest. A minute or two went by when Asami's eyes snapped open and breathed deeply. Before Aang could run over and hug his sister in relief, Zuko beat him to it. "Asami! Oh thank Agni you are alright!" Zuko said as he hugged her.

Asami groaned slightly in pain before hugging him back. "Can I finish my dream now?" She mumbled as she nuzzled sleepily into Zuko's neck. Not knowing what dream Asami was talking about, Zuko simply just laughed as he held her tight. "Yeah... yeah, you can finish your dream." He said as he laid his chin onto her head. "Good, I want to answer absolutely." Asami muttered and fell asleep in Zuko's arms. Hearing her words, Zuko chuckled as he soon realized that she was most likely dreaming about him.

While the Protector and the Scarred Prince had their moment, Kai came running into the now burning town and went straight to Iroh. The fire ferret yipped repeatedly in excitement and jumped right into Iroh's arms. The retired general groaned in pain more a split second but immediately smiled in happiness and hugged the fire ferret. "Kai! It is good to see you again my friend!" Iroh said as he hugged Kai, who was rubbing his head against Iroh's chest that wasn't burned.

Seeing the happy moment in front of him, Aang smiled before turning to leave. "Let's go guys." He said and walked over to where he dropped his staff. "What about Asami?" Sokka questioned with a frown as he, Katara and Toph watched Aang walk away. Aang stopped and looked over his shoulder and smiled when he saw how Zuko was hugging his sister lovingly. "She is where she needs to be." Too tired to argue, Sokka shrugged before he and the rest followed after Aang, leaving Asami and Kai with the firebending fugitives.
