Chapter 19: Avatar Day

Aang, Sokka and Katara were so excited to see me, and so busy telling me there adventures that they completely forgot to ask me how I left the North Pole and how I "escaped" from Zuko. Which I am very grateful about. I didn't have enough time to come up with a story about that. Or how to even explain that I actually went willingly with Zuko. That is a conversation I'm not looking forward to.

Anyway, we left the Earth Kingdom village, and traveled until sunset. We landed in the woods and made camp. Sokka was making campfire, Katara was getting their sleeping bags ready, Aang was feeding all of the animals, and I was making dinner. I made a meal with meat for Katara, Sokka and I, and a vegetarian meal for Aang. While we ate, I noticed Kai wasn't eating. He was just laying there.

This made me sighed softly in sadness. Kai was really depress right now. Not only does he miss his ostrich horse friend, Mirai, but he misses his tea loving friend, Iroh as well. Momo must have realized that Kai was sad, because he chirped softly, along with a chitter and moved over to him. The flying lemur then softly petted the fire ferret on the head, comforting him. I awed at the scene and smiled. That was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

The others continued telling me a few more stories during dinner and after, before we all went to sleep. Katara and Sokka were sleeping in their sleeping bags, each one on their own tree trunk. Aang was sleeping on Appa's forearm. Because Appa's fur is so softly, and fluffy, Aang didn't need a blanket for heat. I was laying on Appa's head, also not using a blanket. Momo was sleeping on Sokka's stomach, and Kai was sleeping next to me.

Before going to bed, I got dressed back into my Air Nomads clothes. It's been so long since I last wore them... I almost forgot how they felt. Before I got to deep in thought, I shook my head and laid down on Appa's head. Unfortunately, and not surprisingly, I had trouble falling asleep. After sleeping with and also using Zuko as a pillow for some time period, it is going to take me a while to get use to sleeping alone again.

No matter how soft and comfortable Appa's fur is, I just couldn't fall asleep. I even took out my turtleduck teddy Zuko gave me and tried to sleep with it in my arms. It didn't help because I wanted to fall asleep in Zuko's embrace. Luckily, I eventually fell asleep, but that doesn't mean I slept well. So you can just imagine my frustration when I woke up way to early from Sokka's loud voice when he snapped at Momo.

"What are you doing in my mouth?" I glared down at Sokka for waking me up, but he didn't notice me. He was busy glaring at Momo, who was laying upside down on Sokka's stomach. Momo chitters at him before eating something from his hand. "Momo, you need to be a little more sensitive to my boundaries." Sokka said, making me roll my eyes.

I tried to go to sleep again, when Momo suddenly chittered in warning and jumped on top of Sokka's head. Momo's chitter woke Kai, and before I knew it, both lemur and ferret were standing on their hind legs, searching for something. Both Kai and Momo were chittering and yipping warnings, which woke Katara up. I frowned at their behavior and was about to get up and look for whatever is freaking them out when the ground started shaking.

Feeling the shake, Aang woke up with a small gasp. Sensing the danger, I jumped up onto my feet and took my war fans out of my boots. From the bushes, a Fire Nation soldier on a komodo rhino jumped out. I glared down at the man from Appa's head. I was about to get in battle stance and warn the soldier to back off when Katara gasped. Turning slightly, I saw two more rhinos with soldiers emerging from the bushes. Not even a second later, another came out and join the other three.

Momo chittered in fear at the komodo rhinos and flew to Appa's saddle to hide. I quickly put Kai in Appa's saddle, next to Momo, before opening my fans as I readied myself for battle. "Give up!" I looked up when I heard a man's voice and saw a Fire Nation soldier sitting on a komodo rhino. He was on a hill above us, and he was looking down at us with a glare as his fellow soldiers circled us with their rhinos. "You're completely surrounded!" He added, making me death glare at him.

"Not today!" I exclaimed and shot an air blast at him, then another at his soldiers. Unfortunately, he and his fellow shoulders ducked before the blasts could hit any of them. "Time to go!" I said to Aang before readying myself to shoot another air blast. Aang quickly climbed up to Appa's head and grabbed a hold of Appa's reigns. Katara quickly got out of her sleeping bag and run over towards us.

Sokka, on the other hand, was crawling like a caterpillar towards us, still in his sleeping bag. But then the archer in the group, shot two flaming arrows at the Water Tribe Boy. Luckily, the arrows hit the bag and not Sokka. With his sleeping bag pinned to the ground, Sokka crawled out just before a third arrow hit him. "Come on! Come on! Come on!" Sokka exclaimed as up crawled out the bag before standing up and run to Appa.

The Water Tribe Boy was about climb up Appa when a fourth arrow came at him. "Sokka! Watch out!" I shouted before jumping down with an air cartwheel. As I cartwheeled, I blocked the arrow with my fans when I was upside down, before shooting an air blast at the archer as soon as I landed on my feet. Sokka looked behind him in surprise before looking to me, grateful. "Thanks Asami!" He said and climbed aboard Appa, joining Aang on the bison's head.

I nodded to him before blocking another arrow. "We seriously need to go!" I said and blocked another arrow with my war fans. "Now!" I exclaimed and shot an airball at the archer, who moved away before the airball could hit him. Katara was about to reach Appa when she suddenly stopped. "My scrolls!" Katara exclaimed as she turned around. When she turned around, she saw one of the soldiers spinning his Guan Dao (a staff with a large blade on the end) and planted its blade next to her scrolls.

Before I knew it, Katara was running back. "Katara wait!" I exclaimed, about to run after her when I heard my brother's voice. "My staff!" I quickly turned around and saw Aang jumping off Appa's head. "Aang!" I exclaimed annoyed before groaning in frustration. I was about to run after him when I saw something very special to me a few feet away from Appa, and way to close to the komodo rhino with the archer on.

"My turtleduck!"

Not a second to lose, I put away my war vans and run towards my turtleduck to get it back. On my way to the teddy, the archer came back and shot multiple arrows at me. I dodged and blocked every arrow until I got to my turtleduck. I grabbed my turtleduck quickly and was about to run back to Appa. Unfortunately, when I turned around, my path got blocked by a komodo rhino. I sucked in a breath before looking up and saw the archer.

I got in battle stance and was about to air blast at the Fire Nation soldier, when the archer drew out an arrow in a split second. Almost with the speed of light, the archer placed the arrow on his bow and drew back the bow's string. Just as he was about to release his arrow at me, the komodo rhino suddenly snorted and shook his body. The archer cried out in surprise from the sudden shook and grabbed a hold onto his saddle.

Meanwhile, I was staring in surprise at the scene in front of me. The komodo rhino snorted again and then bucked. The archer's grip on the saddle wasn't strong enough for the buck and he fell off. I blinked in surprise before taking a slight step back when the komodo rhino took a step closer to me. Catching me by surprise, the animal snorted into my face before bumping his nose against my hand.

Frowning slightly at the animal, I did what I naturally did to komodo rhinos and scratched his nose. The komodo rhino groaned in pleasure and rubbed his head against my hand as I scratched his nose. As I scratched the animal's nose, I noticed right under the rhino's nose horn, was three small pink stripes.

"Nico?" I asked surprise and stopped scratching his nose.

The komodo rhino snorted and dumped my hand, which confirmed my answer. "Nico! It is you!" I exclaimed happily and happily scratched his nose again. "Good boy Nico! Good boy!" I said, making Nico even happier. So happy, the komodo rhino started wagging his long tail like a polar bear dog. I giggled at the wagging tail before placing a small kiss on Nico's nose. "You saved my life!" I said and gave Nico one last good scratch and before running back to Appa.

On my way back to Appa, one of the soldiers tried to attack me, but he got knocked off his rhino by Nico's tail. Without stopping, I looked over my shoulder and smiled at the komodo rhino. "Good boy Nico!" I called out with a proud smile, getting a happy groan from him. When I reach the sky bison, I saw that Katara was back, and already in Appa's saddle. Aang on the other hand wasn't back yet.

Just as I was about to look for Aang, an explosion went off when. Before I even could turn around and see where the explosion came from, Aang landed on Appa's head. "Come on Asami!" Aang exclaimed to me as he took Appa's reigns. I then quickly airbended myself up and landed in Appa's saddle. "Yip yip!" Aang exclaimed whipped the reigns. Appa groaned before hitting the ground with his tail, shooting right up into the air.

Not even a second after we got in the air, the soldier who ordered us to surrender shot a fireball at us. Kai squeaked in alarm at the in coming fireball and ducked down with Katara, Sokka and Momo. Seeing the in coming fireball, I quickly got in airbending stance. Before the fireball could hit us, I airbended the air away and killed the fireball. When they didn't feel the heat of the fire, the Water Tribe siblings looked up. Realizing what I did, they both smiled gratefully to me.

"Phew!" Sokka said as he wiped his brow in relief. "Nice work Asami!" He added with bright smile and laid back in a relax position. "Hang on!" He suddenly sat up straight again and patted his sides before he looked down to the ground. "Wait, my boomerang!" I looked to where Sokka was pointing, and there I saw Sokka's boomerang, laying next to his burning sleeping bag.

"Uh oh..." I said as I watched the boomerang get smaller as we flew further away. Kai came over to me and climbed up my arm, to my shoulders, before looking down as well at the boomerang. "There's no time!" Katara said as she grabbed her brother's arm. I flinched slightly at Katara's words. Not the right thing to say at the moment Katara. The three of us had time to get our stuff that are important to us.

"Oh, I see!" Sokka said annoyed as he turned to face his sister. "So there's time to get your scrolls!" He said as he gestured his hands at his sister, before turning to Aang. "And time to get your staff!" Aang flinched slightly while keeping his back to us. "And time to get your turtleduck!" Sokka said as he turned and gestured to me. I blew out my cheeks and scratched my neck, feeling a bit guilty. "But no time for my boomerang?" Sokka asked, pointing at himself when he finished.

"That's correct!" Katara answered cheerfully, making me slightly flinched at the honesty. Kai flinched as well before covering his eyes with his front paw. "Oh." Sokka said as he looked down. I blew out my cheeks again before moving over to Sokka and gently patted his shoulder, trying to comfort him.

***

We flew until we arrived at a small village. Aang landed Appa near a shop and hid the bison behind the trees. While Sokka and Katara got their money and climbed off Appa, Aang put on a hat to hide his arrow, while I put on my orange wrap and yellow sleeves to hide my tattoos. After we got dressed, we left Appa and followed after the Water Tribe siblings. Katara went to the shop and got some supplies, while Sokka sat down and started sulking.

"Sorry about your boomerang, Sokka." Aang said while I sat down on my knees next to Sokka with Kai on my shoulder. "I feel like I've lost part of my identity." Sokka said in sadness, his arms resting on his knees. I patted Sokka's shoulder, trying to comfort him, but my patting didn't help. Kai then jumped over to Sokka's shoulder, and rubbed his furry cheek against Sokka's. When I realized Kai's comfort wasn't helping as well, I went to offer the Water Tribe boy a hug.

Just as I was about to offer Sokka a hug, he jumped up onto his feet with Kai still on his shoulder. "Imagine if you lost your arrow!" Sokka said as he moved Aang's hat slightly up and pointed at Aang's arrow. Aang flinched slightly at the thought before putting his hat back over his arrow. I flinched as well on the thought while standing back up on my feet. Losing your Airbending Tattoos... what a nightmare!

"Or if Asami lost her engagement ring!" Sokka said as he turned to me and pointed at my ring on my right hand. I immediately flinched at the thought and grabbed my ring with my left hand and held both hands to my chest, guarding my ring. Losing my engagement ring!! I'll literally go crazy if I lost Zian's ring! Sensing my slight fear, Kai jumped back to my shoulder with a yip and then rubbed his cheek against mine.

I petted Kai's head as a thanks before looking back to Sokka, as he continued his ranting. "Or if Katara lost her..." Sokka started of as he turned to Katara, who was still standing next to the shop. His sister stare at him with innocent eyes while Sokka thought of what Katara could lose. "Hair loopies." He finally said with a bored expression as he make a hair loop gesture with his finger. He then looked down, sulking as he walked over to Katara.

Aang and I watched Sokka moving with slight frowns. Momo then flew over and landed on Aang's shoulder. The lemur chittered as he watched the Water Tribe boy as well. Sokka stopped in front of his sister, who gave a him a caring, loving hug to comfort and cheer her older brother up. Katara pulled out of the hug with a smile, which Sokka returned. Both Aang and I smiled at the Water Tribe Siblings before walking over to them.

"Here's your produce, ponytail guy." The merchant said to Sokka as he placed a basket full of supplies in front of him. Sokka's fell while his shoulders lowered as he started sulking again. The rest of us, except the merchant, frowned at Sokka as he picked up the basket. "I used to be boomerang guy..." Sokka muttered in sadness before walking away. The rest of us, except for the merchant, stared at Sokka with sympathy as he walked away.

Before we knew it, Sokka fell down to his knees and started crying. Aang and I went over to him while Katara stayed behind to pay the merchant for the supplies. "There, there Sokka..." I said as I kneeled down next to him and rubbed his back in comfort. "I want my boomerang back!" He cried out while tears rolled down like waterfalls down his face. Both Aang and I flinched at his crying before looking to each other for ideas.

We both shrugged at each other, both not having any ideas how to stop Sokka's crying. I just sighed and continued rubbing Sokka's back. Not a moment later, Katara walked back to us. She was about the say something to her brother when the merchant spoke as he walked down the road. "Have a nice Avatar Day!" Both Aang and I frowned to each other in surprise before Aang questioned the merchant.

"Avatar Day?" My brother asked with a slight smile. "You guys are going to the festival, right?" The merchant with a smile, waving at us while walking down the road. "Festival?" I questioned, even more surprised. Katara and Aang looked to each other and smiled in excitement. Sokka was staring at the direction the merchant went with teary eyes. Me on the other hand, I was frowning in doubt. I had a bad feeling about this.

***

Before I knew it, we were in the Chin Village. Green lanterns are hanging everywhere over the streets. "There's a holiday for the Avatar. Who knew?" Aang said as we looked around, with Kai on my shoulder and Momo in Sokka's arms. "I think this is the only village that actually celebrates it Aang." I said as I looked around with a slight frown. For some reason, I just have a feeling that Avatar Day isn't a holiday we think it is. If it was, why are we only hearing about it now?

"How come?" Aang asked me innocently. "I don't know..." I answered before frowning. "Shouldn't there be posters, or banners, or something that represents Avatars?" I question as I noticed that there weren't anything Avatar related. "Besides you, I don't see any Avatars." I said and questioned this holiday for the Avatar even more. "Look!" Katara exclaimed and pointed behind us.

"They made a giant Kyoshi float!" The rest of us turned around and saw the Kyoshi float. It was moving to the other side of the street. "There's your answer!" Aang said with a bright smile, while I frowned slightly in confusion. "Kinda..." I said with a small frown, but none of them noticed it. The three of them went to the other side to get a better look, while I stayed behind and stared at the giant Avatar Kyoshi float, even more confused.

"But Avatar Kyoshi wasn't the first Avatar though..." I said to myself and to Kai, who just yipped from my shoulder. And she's definitely not the only Avatar. I added silently to myself before following after the others. "And here comes Avatar Roku!" Sokka exclaimed, with Momo on his shoulders now, just as I stopped next to them. And like Sokka said, there was an Avatar Roku float right behind Kyoshi.

Roku? I thought confused before shrugging. At least they are more Avatar's. While the others oohed and awed at the floats, I looked around again and tried to see if there were any other Avatar floats, or anything Avatar related. But the more I looked, the more I realized that the only Avatar related thing here are the floats.

This doesn't make any sense. Avatar Kyoshi wasn't the first Avatar, and Avatar Roku wasn't the second. Avatar Wan was the first Avatar, and there are plenty of Avatars after him. If you are going to celebrate about the Avatar, shouldn't you be celebrating all the Avatars? Especially the first one! Without Avatar Wan, there wouldn't even be an Avatar.

I understand that there were many Avatars, and not everybody knew their names. Especially the Avatars from the much older generation. But if you're going to throw a festival for the Avatar, at least have more Avatars. Not all of them have to be floats. Make posters, banners, or just simply their name on a flag! They don't even have to have every single Avatar here, they can at least have the ones they know and remember.

"Having a huge festival in your honor is great." Aang said as he and the Water Tribe Siblings smiled at the floats. "But frankly, it's just nice to be appreciated." My little brother added, making me mentally roll my eyes at him. Both he and the others were so focused on the floats, they didn't realize there weren't any other Avatars, just Kyoshi and Roku. If the Avatar was really appreciated, they would honor all Avatars.

"And it's nice to appreciate their deep-fried festival food!" Sokka said with a big smile and took a huge bite out of the deep-fried food in his hands. With a slight smile, I shook my head at Sokka. I'm glad that he cheered up and isn't sad anymore over his boomerang. Note to self, if Sokka is sad, give him food. I thought to myself with a silent giggle.

From my shoulder, Kai suddenly yipped in surprise. "What is it Kai?" I asked my fire ferret when Katara suddenly exclaimed. "Aang, look!" I looked away from Kai, and then right in front of us, came a giant Aang float. "Is that Aang?" I asked surprised. "That's the biggest me I've ever seen!" Aang said with a big smile. My eyes flickered over to my brother before looking back to the float. The Aang float looked exactly like Aang, except for the weird tooth smile.

The Aang float stopped next to the other two Avatar floats. Behind the floats, a shirtless young man with long black hair was running towards them with a torch in hand. "Now a torch!" Sokka said after shallowing his deep fried food. "That's a nice prop." He added as he watched the villager run while carrying a torch. "It's bright, dangerous..." He continued before taking a big sniff. "Smells manly."

Both Kai and I frowned at Sokka's comment, while Aang and Katara continued watching the torch runner. "But I'm not sure I could carry it off." Sokka said and then took another bite from his food. I giggled at Sokka while shaking my head when Katara got my attention. "Hey, what's that guy doing?" She asked as she pointed at the man with the torch, who was running straight towards Avatar Kyoshi. With a battle cry, the man with the torch jumped through the Kyoshi float, setting the float on fire.

"What the hell!?!?!" I exclaimed in both shock and surprise, while Kai squeaked his. Avatar Kyoshi's float was covered by flames in seconds. "Down with the Avatar!" The villagers started chanting while the torch runner jumped over to Avatar Roku's float, and sets it on fire. The villagers continued their chanting while we all watched in total shock. In such shock, Sokka's mouth fell open, causing his food to fall out.

"This is how they honor the Avatar?" I asked in anger, as my shocked expression turned into a disappointed glare. The torch runner climbed up a shop and stood on the roof. A villager, from the looks of his clothes, he is most likely the mayor, signaled to the torch runner with his hand. The torch runner smirked before throwing the torch with a grunt at the Aang float. The torch landed right into Aang float's right eye.

Aang flinched before closing his right eye as he watch his float burning. The villagers cheered in approval as they watched the float burn. "That's it!" I exclaimed, handing Kai over to Sokka and started marching towards the burning floats. "I had enough of this!" I added and was about to airbend the air away from the floats to kill the fire when Katara beat me to it. She run towards the floats and used her waterbending to move the water from the two large pots nearby and killed the flames with the water.

"That party pooper's ruining Avatar Day!" A villager exclaimed, annoyed, as he pointed his finger at Katara. Both Aang and I shot a glare at the villager. Aang then airbended himself up and landed on the left shoulder of his float. "That party pooper's my friend!" My brother exclaimed before taking his hat off and threw it away. I flinched when he revealed his arrow and mentally sighed in frustration.

Don't get me wrong! I'm proud that he stood up for Katara. But Aang just revealed himself to a crowd of Avatar Haters. This is most likely not going to end well. For any of us. "It's the Avatar himself!" The mayor exclaimed in surprised as he pointed up to Aang. "It's going to kill us with its awesome Avatar powers!" An other villager exclaimed as he pointed up at Aang as well. "Oh come on! Seriously!?!" I snapped annoyed at their accusations.

"No, I'm not, I..." Aang said and raised his hand up. But he stopped speaking when the some villagers flinched in fear, while others run away. Aang looked down to his hand before hiding it with his other hand behind his back. I looked to the villagers who were shaking in fear. I sighed in annoyance as I crossed my arms and shook my head them, especially for the mayor.

"Unbelievable." I scoffed, looking down at the mayor, who was fell down to his knees and covered himself with his arms. Realizing that Aang wasn't attacking, the mayor slowly got back up on his feet. "I suggest you leave!" The mayor said as he stood up. "You're not welcome here, Avatar!" He added as he made a 'go away' gesture with his hand. "Why not?" Katara asked the mayor after she turned to face him. "Aang helps people." She added as she placed her hands on her hips with a slight glare.

"It's true!" Aang said as he airbended himself back down. "I'm on your side." He said as he walked over to Katara. "I find that hard to swallow." The spoke before raising his voice. "Considering what you did to us in your past life! It was Avatar Kyoshi! She murdered our glorious leader, Chin the Great." He finished as he glared at Aang.

Aang stared in total shock, while I glared at the mayor. That's just crazy talk! Avatar Kyoshi was a great warrior and a great Avatar! She would never just murder someone! Well... she did kill her enemies. But that was in self defense and for the safety of the world! She did what any other person would do in her position. Avatar or not. She even gave her enemies the chance to backdown! She only ended them when she had no choice.

"You think that I... murdered someone?" My brother asked in shock, snapping me out of thought, while he was close to tears. I frowned softly to my brother and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "We used to be a great society before you killed our leader. Now look at us!" A villager with an ugly beard, one eye bigger than the other, and with hair growing out of his ear. I flinched in disgust at the man while Aang jumped away from my hands in surprise.

Katara took a step closer to Aang and placed her right arm and left hand on his shoulders. "Aang would never do something like that. No Avatar would." She said and shook her head in disapproval. "And it's not fair for you all to question his honor!" Katara added and pointed at the villagers. "Let's tell her what we all think of the Avatar's "honor"!" The villager who said Katara is a party pooper spoke. He then turned around, showing us his butt as he shook it while blowing raspberries.

If there is one thing that really annoys me, is when someone mocks somebody else's honor. Getting even more annoyed at the man, I let my anger get the best of me. Before I became even more angry, I airbended at the villager. The man cried out in surprise at the sudden blast before falling down right on his face. Everybody, that includes my group, gasped in surprise at the sudden airball.

"Asami!" Aang exclaimed at me in surprise when he realized it came from me. I just ignored him while glaring in disappointment at the villager who blew raspberries. He was still on the ground, groaning in pain as he rubbed his face. "It's the Avatar's Protector!" A woman villager suddenly exclaimed as she pointed at me, making the other villagers gasped in shock and fear. Her exclamation surprised me, but I didn't show it.

Instead, I was glaring at the man who was blowing raspberries. "A man who blows raspberries and shows his behind to another one's honor, has no honor at all." I said, taking a slight step forward as I glare in disapproval at the man. He looked down for a down for a split moment in shame, before looking back up with a glare. I just ignored his glare, and looked to the mayor with my glare.

"Now, I don't know who this "Chin the Great" was, but I know Avatars better than anyone." I said, looking at the mayor, but speaking to everyone. "The Avatar brings peace and balance to the world." I said without breaking my stare. "Not one Avatar in the history of Avatar's were ever evil. There is also not one Avatar that has killed innocent people."

Wait a minute... Chin the Great? As in Chin the Conqueror? I thought to myself as I remembered a bit of Avatar Kyoshi's history. The only Chin I know of from Kyoshi's timeline is Chin the Conqueror. That guy was just as evil as the Fire Lord. He wanted to take over the whole world as well. Kyoshi defeated him when she created Kyoshi Island. But if their leader, Chin the Great, is actually Chin the Conqueror, that only means one thing...

"If Avatar Kyoshi really did kill your leader, then he deserved it."

The villagers all gasped in shock while the mayor shot me a death glare. "How dare you!" The mayor yelled, but I just shrugged as I crossed my arms. "I'm simply just telling the truth." I said with a shrug. If my hypophysis is right, which I strongly believe I am, Avatar Kyoshi did the right thing. Chin the Conqueror was the Fire Lord in Kyoshi's timeline. Had she not defeated him, this war would have started three hundred years ago and not a hundred.

"Not helping Asami." Aang muttered to as he watched the crowd nervously. "Don't care." I said to my brother without uncrossing my arms. "Avatar Kyoshi was a great warrior and great Avatar. She will never kill an innocent person." I said as started speaking to the villagers again. "Kyoshi always gave her enemies a chance to backdown. She only defeated them when they didn't." I said before glaring at the mayor.

"So either you are mistaken by who really killed your leader, or your leader was evil and Avatar Kyoshi did what she had to do to save people." I said, but I only received death glares from the mayor and every single villager. The villagers started booing at me, along with stating their not so nice opinions about me. Aang shook his head slightly in disapproval before a step forward, standing next to me.

"Give me a chance to clear my name!" He exclaimed, silencing the crowd. How do you expect to clear your name from a crime you didn't even do? Your past life might have done it, and it happened three hundred years ago. I thought as I looked to Aang with a small frown. "The only way to prove your innocence is to stand trial." Mayor said as he gave Aang a pointed glare.

Trial? My eyes widen in worry. "I'll gladly stand trial!" Aang said confidently before I could stop him and talk him out of this. Again, trail? How do you stand trial for a crime that happened three hundred years ago!?! It's wasn't even Aang! Yes, Avatar Kyoshi is Aang's past life, but every Avatar is still their own person. "You'll have to follow all our rules. That includes paying bail." Mayor said, making me even more worried and annoyed.

"No problem." Aang said confidently. "Yes problem!" I snapped, shooting the mayor one last glare before grabbing Aang by the shoulders and turned him to face me. "You don't have to do this!" I said as I looked deep into my brother's eyes. "Let's just leave this town. You have nothing to proof to them." I said to my little brother with a gentle voice. "Yes... I do." Aang said to me before pulling away from my hands and walked over to the mayor.

***

"How was I supposed to know they wouldn't take Water Tribe money?"

So, to sum things up. When Aang went to pay bail, he paid with Water Tribe money. Obviously, they didn't take it. Now he is behind bars, with his hands and head stuck in a wooden panel, cuffed. I tried to pay his bail with my remaining money I got from selling my sea shell accessories, but they claimed I don't have enough to get him out. I honestly think this town just wants to imprison the Avatar, and no matter how many money we give, it will not be enough bail money.

Katara was standing there with her hand covering her eyes, while Sokka laying against the wall, glaring with his arms crossed. Me, I was standing in front of Aang with my arms crossed, glaring at him through the bars with Kai on my shoulder, who was also glaring. Aang flinched slightly from our glares and looked down. I just shook my head at him before sighing in frustration. "Next time, just listen to me." I said to my little brother before Sokka moved from the wall and stood next to me.

"So some people don't like you, big deal! There's a whole nation of firebenders who hate you." Sokka said with a fake smile, before turning serious. "Now let's bust you out of here!" He added, getting a nod of agreement from me. "Way ahead of you Sokka!" I said, handing Kai over to Katara and got in airbending stance. Just as I was about to blast the cell door off, I got stopped by Aang when he spoke.

"I can't."

"I'm sorry..." I said slowly as I got out of my stance. "What?" I asked as I stared at my brother in disbelief. Kai groaned before placing his front paw on his face, his way of facepalming. Even my fire ferret thought that Aang was crazy. Did my brother lose his common sense on one of his crazy animal rides? For those who don't understand, Aang's can't is actually he doesn't want to. As in, he does not want to escape out of prison.

"Sure you can!" Sokka exclaimed cheerfully, not getting what Aang actually meant. "A little," Sokka spoke before he started blowing out air, pretending like he's an airbender as he moved around the room. "Swish-swish-swish!" He said as he moved his arms, making us girls stare at him unimpressed. "Airbending slice!" He exclaimed, making a slice with his arms as he returned back to us. "And we're on our way!" Sokka finished, making a circular motion with his hands and points to the door.

I rolled my eyes before slapping Sokka behind the head. "Ouch!" He screamed in pain. "What was that for?" He asked, glaring at me in confusion as he rubbed his head. "For being an idiot!" I said as I shot him a glare. "But I was airbending!" I rolled my eyes again and slapped him again behind the head. "Ouch!" He screamed in and glared at me. "That's not how you airbend!" I snapped at him before looking back to Aang, who was staring with big eyes at me.

Katara handed Kai back to me before she shot her brother a look. "I think what "Master Swish" is trying to say," She said with a slight mocking voice before her voice became serious when she looked to Aang. "Is that you're supposed to be out saving the world. You can't do that locked up in here." I send Katara a thankful look. "Thank you Katara!" I said to her and then looked back to Aang. "Come on! Let's continue saving the world!" I said as I pointed with my thumb to the door.

"I can't do that with people thinking I'm a murderer either." Aang said, making me mentally sigh and groan in frustration. I took a deep breath before looking at my little brother. "Every single person in the world has an opinion about the Avatar. Some are positive, and some very negative. You can't go to every single person and change their mind about you." I said to him, but Aang kept looking with big eyes. "I need you guys to help prove my innocence." This made me groan in frustration.

"Aang... you're killing me here." I said as I held my nose between my eyes, with my eyes closed. "How are we gonna to do that? The crime happened over three hundred years ago." Sokka said what we all were thinking. "That's okay, Sokka. For some reason, I thought you were an expert detective." Aang said with a shrug, but with a small cunning smile, which made me frown suspiciously. What's he up to? "Well, I guess I could be classified as such." Sokka said pleased, with his ego rising.

That's when my eyes widen in realization. That sneaky little mad genius airbender! Aang's using Sokka's ego to get him to get evidence to proof Aang's innocence! Sokka's ego won't allow him to rest until he at least finds one piece of evidence to proof Aang's innocence. Even if he has to search for it for years.

"Yeah! Back home, he was famous for solving the mystery of the missing seal jerky." Katara said, patting he brother's shoulder in pride, making Sokka's ego rise up even more. I shook my head in disbelief as I crossed my arms. She's seeing Aang's plan and she's helping him! Katara should be helping convincing Aang to bust out of prison! Not to stay in it! I shot both Aang a disapproving look, but they just looked innocently to me.

"Everyone wanted to blame it on the polar leopard, but I figured out it was Old Man Jarko wearing polar leopard boots!" Sokka started bragging as he told us how he solved the mystery. Katara held her brow in annoyance at her brother's bragging. Kai and I groaned silently in annoyance as we heard his bragging. Sometimes it is okay to brag, but bragging to much is a problem. Sokka is one of those people who brag to much.

"See, a real eight hundred-pound polar leopard would have left much deeper tracks." As Sokka continued telling us his tale, Aang started making fun of Sokka in silence. Katara held her hand over her mouth to herself from laughing. I rolled my eyes before shaking my head at them both. "Okay, I guess I am pretty good." Sokka said as he finished his bragging, making both Kai and I sighed in relief.

"Pretty good at bragging as well." I muttered under my breath, making Kai yip in amusement. Aang shot me an amuse smile before looking to Sokka. "So, you'll help me with my case?" He asked with a confident smile. Sokka thinks about it for a moment answering. "Fine! But I'm going to need some new props." Before we knew it, Sokka left the room and came back wearing a hat with a monocle. "I'm ready."

Both Katara and I stared at him in surprise before we burst into giggles. Sokka extended his monocle and looked through it at his sister. "What?" He asked her with a slight frown. I giggled again one last time before looking to Sokka in seriousness. "Okay, how are you going to solve this case?" I asked the Water Tribe boy. "It's like you said previously. The crime happened three hundred years ago. How do you except to get any evidence to proof both Avatar Kyoshi's and Aang's innocence?"

"We'll go to the crime scene and start from there." Sokka answered as he pointed his thumb at the door. "Again, how do you expect to find evidence from a crime that happened three hundred years ago?" I asked as I crossed my arms again. "I don't know, we'll figure it out on the way to the crime scenes. There should be at least something to proof a bit of innocence." He answered, not making me feel any less worried.

"Okay..." I said with a sigh. "You guys go ahead. I'll stay here with Aang, incase these villagers tries to do something to him." I said, getting a nod of agreement from both of them before they left. After they left, I turned to face Aang and sat down on the ground. Aang was about to sit down as well when we heard a voice. "You got a bald head." Aang turned around and we both saw some prisoners sitting way at the back of the cell in the shadows. "Some nice tattoos."

One of the prisoners emerged from the shadows. He was tall and strong build. He was bold as well, and he was wearing golden earrings. But what really caught my attention was the large green snake tattoo that covered his right arm and the top of his chest. As I examined his tattoo, the prisoner suddenly charged at Aang with a loud growl. Before I even could jump back on my feet and stop him, the prisoner was stopped by the chain around his neck.

Aang jumped back in fear, before sliding down when his back hit the wall. "You're going to fit in real well around here." The prisoner said as his hands balled into fists. Aang smiled and giggled awkwardly as he stared at the fists. The growled and glare at Aang for a moment until he suddenly smiled friendly. "The names Snake." The prisoner, Snake, said and offered Aang's his hands.

Both Aang and I blinked in surprise. Slowly, Aang raised his hand up took Snake's hand. "Aang." My brother said as he shook Snake's hand. Snake nodded with a smile and released Aang's hand. "Come down us under the shade. You'll get sunburn with that bald head of yours." Snake said and moved back to the other prisoners before sitting down under the shade. Aang and I blinked in surprise again at the prisoner's kindness.

Aang looked to me with look of uncertainty. I completely understand why he feels like that. Theses guys are prisoners. We don't know for what are they locked up for. They can either be friendly and kind people, or they can be pretending to be kind to let our guard down before they strike. Not knowing what to answer to Aang, I just shrugged before nodding. Aang sighed softly before standing up and walked over to the prisoners.

***

So, the prisoners are actually kind people. Once they found out who Aang was, they encouraged him to escape while he could. But after Aang told them why wanted to stay, they completely understood. While Aang and the prisoners were getting to know each other, I was able to convince the mayor to let me and Kai in the prison cell to be closer to Aang. Honestly, I think the mayor would have found a reason to throw the Avatar's Protector into prison anyway.

Anyway, we were all sitting in a circle and are busy telling each other stories. Kai, on the other hand, was sleeping on one of the prisoners laps while he got petted. The prisoners haven't seen a pet animal for some time. The second they saw Kai, they all wanted to pet him and spend some time with him. Kai didn't complain for a second. He soak up all the attention like a sponge.

"This girl you're talking about? She'll come around. You just gotta hang in there." Snake said to Aang with a friendly smile. I smiled at Snake's kind advice. I knew the girl Aang was talking about was Katara. Aang fell in love with her the second he saw her. And the way Katara looks and care for him, I know they would end up together somewhere in the future. They are made for each other.

But my smile soon turned into a surprised expression when Aang removed his head out of the wooden panel, along with his hands. He could have gotten himself out of the wooden panel this whole time!?! I thought to myself before rolling my eyes. Of coarse he could! And from the prisoners not surprised looks, means they either already knew he could, or they told how to remove it.

"You think so?" Aang asked in a hopeful voice. "Of coarse!" I said with bright, encouraging smile as I placed my hand on Aang's shoulder. "Sure!" Snake answered, also with an encourage smile. "Yeah!" Lee, the prisoner with Kai on his lap answered. "You're a catch!" Ty answered soon after. Lee was a skinny prisoner with a mustache, and Ty was a big guy. He had a the same tattoo as Snake, but his was light brown. Ty is also actually a sensitive fellow.

"I don't know..." Aang said as he rested his head on the board. "Hey! You're smart, handsome, funny. Not to mention you're the Avatar." Snake said, making me smile to him. "You guys are great!" Aang said with a big smile, already cheered up. "Don't be afraid to tell her how you feel." Ty said with tears running down his face. I gently patted his back as he sniffs and dried his tears.

***

It was nightfall when Katara and Sokka came back. After finding some evidence at the crime scene, they went to Kyoshi Island get more evidence. When they came back they told us to get ready while they got the mayor. As we waited for them, I helped Aang to get his head and hands back into the wooden panel. Just we got it back on, the Water Tribe siblings came back with the mayor following behind them.

"Honorable Mayor, we've prepared a solid defense for the Avatar. We did an investigation and found some very strong evidence." Katara said to the mayor with a confident smile. As she spoke, Sokka leaned to Aang and pointed to himself with a big smile, signaling that he found the evidence. I rolled my eyes while Aang gave him a tooth grin. Kai, from my shoulder, just covered his face with his front paw.

"Evidence? Hmph! That's not how our court system works!" The mayor said with a smack glare. Excuse me? I thought to myself as I shot the mayor a death glare. "Then how can I prove my innocence?" Aang asked innocently. "Simple. I say what happened," The mayor said and pointed at himself. "Then you say what happened," He said and pointed at Aang. "And then I decide who's right." He finished with an smack smirk.

Katara, Sokka and Aang gasped at the news, while I shot a killer death glare at the mayor. "Excuse me!?!" I snapped, but the mayor just ignored me as he stared at Aang with his smirk. "That's why we call it justice. Because it's "just us"." The mayor said before leaving the room, laughing like a maniac. As he left, the others watched him with wide open mouths, while I had to hold myself back from shooting an airball blast at him.

"What are we going to do now?" Aang asked after all three of them snapped out of it. "Simple." I said, shaking my head at the deja vu I had of the mayor, before I continued speaking. "We bust you out right now, and leave this sorry of an excuse of town!" I said, getting a nod of agreement from Kai. Katara and Sokka was about to agree with me as well, but Aang interrupted before they could.

"I can't."

"Aang!" I snapped in frustration, while Kai groaned his. "You got to be kidding me!" I exclaimed as I shook my head. "I understand that you want to clear your name, but this is ridiculous! That mayor and this whole town hates you! You are never going to have a fair trail with them! Even if they believed in the evidence, they are just going to find you guilty!" I snapped, making a very good point. Aang looked down for a while before looking up with sorry eyes.

"I just can't Asami."

I groaned in frustration before taking a few deep breaths to calm myself down. I looked over to Aang and glared. He was staring at me with wide eyes, hoping that his eyes make me less mad at him. "I swear I'm going to kill you before the Fire Nation does!" I snapped before laying against the wall and listened as Sokka told us the evidence he got.

***

It was the next day, and we were having the trail at the crime scene. It was an amphitheater near/on a cliff. There was a statue of a soldier, who I know from Sokka was their leader, Chin, and there was a temple on the edge of the cliff. On our way to the amphitheater, Sokka went over the evidence with us again. I remembered it very well, but from the looks of it, Aang doesn't remember it at all.

"Everyone loved Chin the Great because he was so great." The mayor said to the audience as he and Aang, who was still in the wood panel, stood in the middle of the open area. I scoffed and crossed my arms as I glared at the mayor with Kai on my shoulders. "So great my a-" "Asami!" Katara interrupted with a snap before I could finish my sentence. I just shrugged and continued watching mayor as he told the audience what happened.

"Then the Avatar showed up and killed him!" He said and pointed at Aang, who was frowning at the mayor. "And that's how it happened." He finished before walking away with a giant, smack smile on his face. I shot the mayor a death glare, before looking to Aang and send him an encouraging smile. Aang smiled back, but I could see he was very nervous. Well, if I was in his shoes, I would be nervous as well. Wait, no I won't. If I was in his shoes, I would have left this stupid town without looking back.

"The accused will now present its argument." The guard standing next to Aang said with a deep voice before walking away. Sokka watched the mayor until he sat down with the audience before leaning slightly forward. "You can do it, Aang. Just remember the evidence." Sokka said quietly, but loud enough for Aang to hear him. "Right... evidence." Aang said with an unsure voice. Oh please, for the love of tea, let Aang remember the evidence! And that he explains the evidence well!

"Ladies and gentlemen! I'm about to tell you what really happened. And I will prove it with facts. Fact number one!" Aang spoke and raised one finger up to use as he count down the facts. "Uh..." Aang said with wide worried eyes, as he tried to remember what the fact was. I facepalmed myself while Kai covered his face with his front paw. Oh man, he forgot the evidence! I knew I should have drilled the evidence in his head last night! But no! I took his word when he said he got it and he will remember!

"The footprints!" Sokka whispered while I prayed for a miracle to get us out of this situation. "Oh, yeah." Aang whispered in relief before he continued speaking to the audience. "You see... I have very large feet." Aang said, pointing and looking down at his. He frowned when he noticed his small feet while Kai and I facepalm again. Kyoshi! Kyoshi had large feet, so she didn't make the footprint on the cliff! I thought to myself, while cringing when I noticed the villagers unimpressed expressions.

"Furthermore!" Aang said nervously before looking over his shoulder at the temple. "Your temple matches your statue." I cringed again, while the villagers looked to the statue in confusion. Aang, you are only digging yourself into a bigger hole. He must have realized his mistake, because he was now staring at the audience with wide worried eyes. "But... I was in a painting at sunset." He just made his whole situation worst.

After Aang finished his half told facts, he gulped slightly before he smiled brightly. "So, there you have it! I'm not guilty!" Aang said with a bright smile and did jazz hands. I cringing again and facepalmed with Kai. "We're screwed." I said without removing my hand from my face. When I removed my hand, I saw unimpressed audience and two fake smiling Water Tribe siblings.

Sokka gave Aang a thumbs up while he and Katara fake smiled fake. "He's dead." He mumbled to us through his fake smile. I sighed and nodded in agreement. "Yeah... We're definitely screwed." I said with a worried frown. How are we going to get ourselves out of this? I can't suggest escaping, because I already know Aang will say no. So, how to I save my little brother from this?

***

"Mayor Tong!" Katara called out to the mayor as she and I walked over to him and the audience. "I'd like for the court to hear one last testimony." She said as we stopped in front of everyone. "I've already told you!" The mayor exclaimed in annoyance as he jumped up to his feet. "It's just me and the accused. You can't call any witnesses!" He snapped with a death glare before sitting back down. This guy is worst than Dour Monk! I thought in annoyance as I rolled my eyes and scoffed.

"Calm down your 'justice' little butt!" I said with a glare as I crossed my arms. The audience gasped in shock while the mayor shot me a death glare. I just simple ignored them all and nodded to Katara to continue. Katara shot me a look before looking back to the mayor. "This isn't just any witness." She said before smiling proud. "I'm going to call..." She started saying before pausing for effect when she spreads her arms. "Avatar Kyoshi herself!"

The audience spoke among themselves in shock and confusion, while Aang exited the temple. Instead of being dressed in his Air Nomad clothes, he was dressed in Avatar Kyoshi's clothes, with her war fans in hand, as well as being makeup like her. He looked like a younger, smaller, boy version of Avatar Kyoshi. The mayor looked skeptical at three of us, but stayed silent for once. I gave Aang an encourage smile and nod before walking back to Sokka with Katara.

"What are you doing?" Sokka asked us in a whisper as Katara and I sat down. "Well, she is Aang's past life. Maybe wearing her stuff will trigger something." Katara said with a hopeful voice, but yet still worried. I picked Kai up from Sokka's shoulder and placed him on my lap. "I do believe in the power of stuff." Sokka said as he played with his magnifying glass. I rolled my eyes before speaking. "From what we've seen happened at Roku's Temple, and in the North Pole, we know it's possible."

"This is a mockery of Chin Law!" The mayor shouted, out raged as he jumped back up on his feet. This guy is seriously getting on my nerves! And is everything named after Chin in this town? I thought while I rolled my eyes again at his anger. "Please! If you could just wait one more second, I'm sure Kyoshi will be here!" Katara pleaded after she turned to face the mayor. He opened his mouth to argue, but he got interrupted by me.

"You claim that your leader was murdered by Avatar Kyoshi. My brother is standing trail for her, his past life. We already heard your side of the story. It is only fair if we hear Kyoshi's side of the story. Her story will confirm if she's truly guilty or not. So, would you for once just please zip it while we wait for Avatar Kyoshi's presence."

The mayor shot me a killer death glare before sitting back down. I sighed slightly in relief before sitting down as well. We all watched Aang as we patiently waited for Avatar Kyoshi. Feeling our stares, Aang hid his face behind one of the war fans. We waited for a moment when Aang peeked over the fan. "Hey everybody!" He said with a high pitch voice. "Avatar Kyoshi here!" He said and fluttered his eyes as if he was a woman.

Both Kai and I facepalmed ourselves, mentally shaking our heads at Aang. Seriously Aang?!? This is a serious situation! No time for jokes! "This is ridiculous!" The mayor snapped in anger and marched over to Aang. He turned to the audience and spoke to them as he pointed to my little brother. "For the murder of Chin the Great, this court finds the Avatar–" Before he could finish, a tornado of earth appeared and engulfed Aang.

The mayor stepped slightly back from the tornado while holding his hat. Everyone grabbed ahold of each other and watched the tornado in fear as the sky darkens. I held onto Kai while I watched in both fear and worry for my brother from being surround by spinning rocks. The tornado disappeared, and Aang was no longer standing there. Somebody else was standing in his place. "Avatar Kyoshi..." I said in awe.

"I killed Chin the Conqueror."

Goosebumps immediately formed on my arms as Kyoshi's voice boomed out to the audience. Even Kai got goosebumps when he heard her speak. Kyoshi stood strong, proud and confident in front of the audience as she told her tale. Hearing her and seeing her in real life makes me admire her even more. No offense to Aang and other Avatars, but Avatar Kyoshi was the greatest Avatar in the history of Avatars.

"A horrible tyrant. Chin was expanding his army to all corners of the continent."

Wait a second... Did she just say Chin the Conqueror? I knew it! I knew Chin the Great was actually Chin the Conqueror! Take that Mayor Tong! I thought to myself as I smirked to myself in victory. But, my smirk soon fell when I realized that it means Kyoshi really did kill this town's leader. Oh please let these villagers listen to Kyoshi and understand why she did what she had to do.

"When they came to the neck of the peninsula where we lived, he demanded our immediate surrender. I warned him that I would not sit passively while he took our home. But he did not back down. On that day, we split from the mainland."

From head to the tip of my toes, my whole body got goosebumps. Just hearing Kyoshi describe how she went into Avatar State and used it to create Kyoshi Island is amazing. It's simply amazing how she used every element to create an island all by herself. She made it so easily, it was as if she was baking cookies! The powers of the Avatar is truly amazing.

"I created Kyoshi Island so my people could be safe from invaders."

Kyoshi finished her tale before closing her eyes. She was then engulfed by a tornado of earth. The mayor fell to his knees and covered his head when the tornado arrived. As the tornado spun, the darkness in the sky disappeared. The second the light shined again, the tornado of earth disappeared and Aang was standing where Kyoshi was standing. I sighed in relief when I saw my brother again, but I was filled with worry when I saw him swaying from side to side.

"Aang!" I called out and run over to him Katara after handing Kai over to Sokka. I quickly grabbed him before he collapse and hugged him protectively. Aang groaned slightly as he dropped Kyoshi's war fan. "So, what just happened?" My little brother asked as he pulled out of my hug and looked to me in confusion. I flinched slightly at the question and rubbed my neck nervously.

"Yeah... um, about that Aang..." I started of awkwardly, not really knowing how to answer him. I looked over to Katara for help, but she also unsure. Katara blinked in surprise when saw my expression before looking to Aang. "Uhhh... you kind of confessed." She said to him awkwardly look. Aang looked over to me, but I shrugged and nodded. He looked back to Katara who was still staring at him in awkwardness. "Sorry." She said while I patted Aang's shoulder in comfort.

"And I find you..." The mayor started saying as he stood up. He brushed the dust off his clothes before pointing at Aang. "Guilty!" Aang, Katara and I stared at each other with wide worried eyes. Before I even do something, the mayor turned to the audience with his arms raised up. "Bring out the Wheel of Punishment!" The crowd cheered while my worry deepened. The Wheel of Punishment!?!?!

***

It was sunset and they brought out the Wheel of Punishment. While they went and brought it, I tried to talk sense into both Aang and the Mayor's heads. With Aang, I tried to convince with to escape while he can and not face the punishment. Not surprisingly, Aang refused. He said that he told them he would face justice, and that's what he's going to do.

With the mayor, I tried to convince him not to punish Aang. I even tried to make him realize that Kyoshi didn't actually really kill Chin the Conqueror. He died from falling off a cliff! Besides! Even if Kyoshi purposely killed him, she did the right thing! He was evil! But the mayor refused to listen to me.

"The accused will now spin the Wheel of Punishment to determine his sentence." The guard with the deep voice said as while Aang stood in front of the wheel. Aang, who was still dressed as Kyoshi, turned and looked to the Water Tribe siblings who were staring at him with sympathy. He turned back to the wheel and then looked to me, while I was standing next to the mayor. I gave Aang a sympathy smile, which he half returned before looking back to Sokka and Katara, who were our pets.

"I said I would face justice, so I will." Aang said and walked over to the wheel and spins it. The wheel spins round and round, and not even a minute later, the villagers started shouting what punishment they want Aang to get. "Come on, torture machine!" "Eaten by bears!" "Razor pit!" I shot them all a glare before smiling slightly when I heard Katara begging her punishment option. "Community service! Please stop on community service!"

The Wheel of Punishment continued spinning before I quietly spoke to the mayor. "I'm giving you the chance to stop this right now." The mayor just hmphed with a smirk, not even looking at me. I ignore his smirk as I stared at my little brother with a neutral expression. "Being the Avatar's Protector means protecting the Avatar from any threat. If you try to do any harm to my brother, I'll destroy this town, and nobody, not even my brother, the Avatar himself, will be able to stop me."

I smirked slightly when I heard the mayor's nervous gulp, but he still refused to face me or stop the sentencing. "Maybe I should do what Kyoshi did." I said, smirking slightly again when the mayor's head turned to me slightly. "Destroying towns was what Chin the Conqueror, sorry, Chin the Great did." I said, getting a side glare, but I just ignored it as I watched my brother. "Now Kyoshi, she had the right idea." I said and took a slight step closer to the mayor.

"Instead of destroying a whole army, she just killed their leader. You can't take a soldier to war without a leader." I leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear. "Those villagers are the soldiers, and you, Mayor Tong, are their leader." He gulped again, making me smirk as I continued. "I can kill you on this very spot without even lifting a finger. Without even using my bending."

The mayor took a slight step away from me, but I just took another step closer to him. "Either you stop this nonsense and spare my brother, or I do my duty as the Protector and kill you right now." He shot me a death glare before looking back to Aang. "I will not let your threats get the best of me." I shot him a glare, but he ignore me. "The Avatar will face his punishment, and there is nothing you can do about it."

"Wanna bet?" I questioned as my hand formed into a fist. "You do anything to me, and you will just be showing your true colors to everyone! Including your friends and brother." The mayor said with a smirk, but I could still see the fear in his eyes. As much as I hate to admit it, he's right. Killing him will make everyone look differently at me, including Aang and the Water Tribe siblings. But my job as a sister and Protector is to protect Aang in anyway.

The Wheel of Punishment started slowing down. I looked to it anxiously as it slowed more and more down. "Last chance." I said to the mayor as we for the wheel to come to a complete stop. "Stop this now and your life will be spared." The mayor just hmphed without looking to me. "I do believe that you are capable of killing. But you won't show your brother you are a murderer as well." Sending him a death glare, I opened my mouth to threaten him again when I heard the wheel coming to a stop.

"Looks like it's boiled in oil."

I sighed in defeat when I heard the guards deep voice. The villagers cheered in victory while Aang stared at me, scared. He slowly turned around, and saw Katara and Sokka's shocked expression. I turned to the mayor and gave him a warning look. But he just smirked to me with his arms in his sleeves. I sighed again in defeat and looked down.

"Forgive me Aang."

Just as I was about to follow with my threat, the temple behind us suddenly exploded. Everybody ducked in cover when a familiar voice spoke. "We've come to claim this village for the Fire Lord!" It was the Fire Nation soldier from the other day, along with his fellows soldiers on komodo rhinos. "Now show me your leader so I may..." He spoke before pausing, when the soldier with the Guan Dao sliced the statue of Chin. "Dethrone him!" He finished with an evil smirk.

"That's him over there!" The villager didn't even wait for a second when he answered and pointed to his mayor. The mayor screamed from fear and hid behind the Wheel of Punishment. "You! Avatar, Protector, do something!" He begged us as he hid like a scared baby behind the wheel. "Gee, I'd love to help, but I'm supposed to be boiled in oil." Aang said as if he isn't bothered by the Fire Nation soldiers and being boiled in oil. I smirked to my brother as I saw his plan.

"Protector!" The mayor begged to me, but I just crossed my arms and shrugged. "I only fight threats against the Avatar." I said as I looked to the mayor with a smirk. The mayor whimpered in fear before moving the Wheel of Punishment to the next slot, which was of a man sweeping. "There! Community service! Now serve our community and get rid of those rhinos!" The mayor exclaimed in worry and pointed at the Fire Nation soldiers and their komodo rhinos.

Both Aang and I smiled before charging. Aang jumped out of Kyoshi's clothes, and I took out my war fans. The soldier with the Guan Dao charged at us with his komodo rhino. Opening Kyoshi's war fans, Aang moved out of the rhino's way and used the fans to airbended the soldier off the rhino, and into the sea. The rhino was still charging, and he was headed to the Wheel of Punishment, where the mayor was still hiding.

Just as the rhino was about to stab the wheel with his three horns, I got his attention by whistling. The komodo rhino stopped charging, just before he could stab the wheel. I rolled my eyes when I heard the mayor whimper in fear before smiling when the rhino turned around. "Come here Sai!" I said cheerfully before laughing when the rhino trotted over to me, happily. Sai is Nico's younger brother. I recognized him when I saw his matching birthmark with Nico on his leg.

Sai stopped before he could accidently stab me and bumped his nose against my hand. I giggled and scratched his nose. "How did you do that?" Aang asked me in surprise while I scratched Sai's nose. I smirked to my little brother and shrugged as I scratched Sai's nose. Aang just smiled before turning around and looked to the leader of the Fire Nation soldiers. The Leader glared at us, especially me for taming one of his rhinos.

"Rough Rhinos, to the town!" The leader ordered with his arm raised up, before he and the rest of his soldiers charged to the town. "I don't think so!" I exclaimed before jumping onto Sai's saddle and charged after the Rough Rhinos with him. When he got the town, there were houses burning and people running away in fear. I immediately airbended the air away from the fires, and killed them before they could burn down the houses.

After killing all the fires, Sai and I started moving again after the Rough Rhinos. When we found them, I saw the archer, and he was riding Nico. The archer loaded a flaming arrow and was about to shoot Sokka. Before he could released his loaded arrow, Sokka threw a dragon shape pipe, and the pipe slid right into the arrow, killing the flame. While the archer was distracted, I noticed Katara sneaking up to him, waiting for the right moment to strike. I smirked to her when an idea came to mind.

"Oh Nico!" I called out to the rhino, like a loving mother calling her child. Nico jumped in excitement and turned around as he searched for me. The archer cried out in surprise when his rhino moved. "Over here boy!" Nico turned around again and snorted in excitement when he saw me. The archer spotted me as well, and was about to load a pipe less arrow. "I wouldn't do that." I said while still sitting on Sai.

The archer ignored me and was about to pull the arrow back, when Katara moved forward and used her waterbending to slice Nico's saddle cord. Nico realized that the archer was about to shoot at me, and bucked, making the saddle slide slightly off when the saddle cord snapped, along with the archer. The archer cried out in surprise as he slides off, but his foot was still stuck in the saddle, so he was hanging upside down on Nico's side.

I smirked again when I got another idea. I quickly climbed down and called out to the rhino brothers. "Hey Sai, Nico?" I said, getting their attention. "Who is the fastest rhino?" The two komodo rhino brothers looked to each other before jumping in excitement and started racing each other out of the town. While racing, Nico was dragging the archer along with him. Katara, Sokka and I all laughed as we watched Nico dragging the archer, as he and his brother, along with the other rhinos, run out and far away from the town.

Fireworks light up the night sky as the villagers cheered. After Aang defeated the Rough Rhinos leader, he and his fellow soldiers left. The mayor thanked Aang and I for saving the town and deemed Aang not guilty. Before we could leave, the mayor asked us to stay one more day. He wanted to show us their new Avatar Day.

"From now on, we'll celebrate a new Avatar Day in honor of the day Avatar Aang saved us from the Rough Rhino Invasion." The mayor said as looked to Aang with a thankful smile. Aang smiled brightly to the mayor as he and the rest of us held bowls in our hands. I smiled as well, until Kai gave an confuse yip from my shoulder. I looked to him in question, but saw him staring at my bowl. Frowning, I look in the bowl and saw unfried dough, shaped like a person with a blue arrow on its head. Is that Aang?

"What is this?" Sokka asked before I could. "That's our new festival food! Unfried dough." The mayor answered with a smile before turning to face his villagers. "May we eat it and be reminded of how on this day the Avatar was not boiled in oil." The villagers cheered at their mayor's words while we stared in uncertainty. We each picked up an unfried Aang and stared at with even more uncertainty.

"Happy Avatar Day, everyone!" Katara said, half happy, yet still uncertain before eating the dough. She pulled her face, but was able to hide her dislike. Aang put the dough in his mouth, and pulled his face when he tasted it as the dough hang halfway out his mouth. I stared at both Aang and Katara's expressions before looking to Sokka who was staring at the unfried dough, unimpressed.

"This is by far the worst town we've ever been to." Sokka said while Aang ate the rest of dough that was hanging out his mouth. Sokka ate his dough, forcing himself to swallow before pulling a dislike expression. He pulled out another dough and stared at it skeptically. I stared at my unfried dough as with uncertainty before putting it in my mouth. I chewed it for a moment before swallowing it.

"Add some sugar, butter, milk and vanilla flavoring, and this will be pretty good." I said with a shrug and ate another unfried dough. Katara, Sokka and Aang stared at with wide shocked eyes. I shrugged and swallowed the dough. "What?" I asked before I ate another one.
