We took many pictures, way too many for me to count. I kinda gave up after 15. I took pictures with both of my brothers, and the Lightwoods.

So I'm supposed to live with the Lightwoods for a few months because my brother is going on his honeymoon. Also my mom thinks it'll be a great time to make new friend's. I have always been anti-social. It comes with being home schooled.

I wonder how that's gonna go... With full moons and all of that I don't think I'm gonna make it, my brothers usually help me through it.

So after the reception I went with the Lightwoods to the institute. "This will be your room for the time being. I hope you like it here Malia." Mayrse says.

I mumble a thank you and she leaves as I unpack. As I unpack I come across a picture of my family.

I was adopted when I was 14 and this was the only thing along with a necklace that I have left of them.

I bring my hand to the necklace and sigh before finishing. Then I put on my pyjamas and climb into bed before drifting off to sleep.

I sat in the backseat of the car next to my sister as mom drove home. I was 10 and my sister Lissa was 13.

"Mom! Mom! Guess what? Lissa said that dad got us something!" I say as she looks at me in the rearview mirror.

Then just as mom went towards the intersection a truck came and t-boned us. The car rolled over making us go in different directions and as a result, I shifted.

Into a wolf and ran away knowing that as soon as the car caught on fire my family was gone.

I ran in the woods trying to shift back into a human. When I did a man came towards me.

I backed away in fear a shrill scream came from my throat as he neared toward me.

"No! Let me go! Don't touch me!" I scream. "Malia! Wake up!" A voice says.

I sit up in bed trying to catch my breath. "Malia?" Alec asks looking at me concerned.

Tears begin to stream down my face and he pulls me into his arms. I'm thankful for him in this moment.

"It's my fault. It's all my fault! I killed them." I sob into his chest.

"Who?" He asks pulling away to look into my eyes.

"My family. It was my fault. I distracted mom while she was driving. The truck hit the car and I-- I shifted and ran away. I killed them." I whisper.

"It's okay Malia." He says as I regain my composure.

He stands ready to leave and I look around my room, seeing everything as shadows.

"Will you stay? Please?" I ask. Usually when this happens Carson would stay the night because I can never go to sleep if he doesn't.

(Alec POV)

I look at Malia seeing how truly scared and vulnerable she is. I sigh and climb into the bed with her. She lays on my chest and closes her eyes.

Her faint breathing becomes steady as she is drowned by sleep. When her dreams get a bit scary I guess, she clutches onto my shirt and I hold her tighter. Soon I close my eyes and I fall asleep too.

(Malia POV)

"Shut up Izzy. You're gonna wake her up!" Alec's voice says making his chest rumble.

"You two are so cute! I ship it." She says gushing. "Breakfast is ready." Jace says coming in. "I'm coming just give me a moment." Alec says.

I hear footsteps leave the room and I realize that Alec hasn't moved yet. It's been like 5 minutes. "Malia?" He says. "Hm?" I mumble.

"Breakfast is ready." He says. I sit up and rub the sleep from my eyes before looking back at Alec who is laying there with his hands behind his head. "Why did you stay last night?" I ask.

"You were scared." He says. I nod and stand. "I'll be back." I say walking in the bathroom and putting on some leggings and a white sweater.

Then I walk back to my room and Alec is gone. I sit at the foot of my bed and think. Tonight is a full moon.

I have no idea how to not kill anyone. I'll have someone chain me up down in the basement.

I walk downstairs and sit at the table and begin to eat with everyone. "So full moon tonight Malia. How do you usually do things?" Jace asks.

"Carson chains me up in the basement and comes to get me in the morning." I mumble realizing how bad that sound out loud.

"Okay? Well I guess that's what we're doing then." Izzy says. I smile as I finish. Tonight is gonna be long.

Throughout the day Jace, Alec, and Izzy left to go demon hunting. I was here at the institute wandering around.

When noon came everyone was back. I made sure to keep my distance, in fear that I would hurt one of them.

As the moon went to it peak in the sky, I felt myself losing control and I began to shift.

A growl came from my throat even though I attempted to keep it in.

"Your eyes are blue." Izzy says. I sigh and nod. "We probably want to get started." I growl.

They nod and rush me downstairs. I lean on the wall taking deep breaths as the moon shines. "Done." They say.

I look at the chains and it angered me making me let out a loud growl.

I stood and ran toward them trying to snap at them. I see the fear in Izzy's eyes and turn around so I can't see it anymore.

"I don't think you'll hurt me." Alec says sure of himself, as usual.

"Malia, I know you think that you're gonna kill one of us. You aren't. We trust you. You won't hurt us. We trust you." Alec says trying to calm me.

"No." I growl wanting them to go away so they'll be safe. I feel hands on my shoulders turning me around to look at Alec.

I start to claw at his face, he grabs my wrists stopping me from moving.

Then everything slows down. I look into his eyes and realize it. Alec is my mate.

He takes the hand cuffs off and keeps me in control as I claw at him.

I feel my claws retract and my eyes change back to their normal brown.

My breathing slows and I wrap my arms around his shoulders. "Alec's my mate." I whisper to myself. "What did you say?" He ask pulling away. Did I say that aloud?
