Part 2: Meeting Eun-suh

"Oppa..." Joon-suh heard a voice. The voice that he already missed so much. He slowly opened his eyes and saw he was lying in a serene, resplendent garden, with Eun-suh delicately sitting beside him. "Oppa... Are you okay?" She asked, her face filled with concern. "Eun-suh? How?" He was utterly bewildered. Was he already deceased? "You promised me not to die," she pouted. As he slowly sat up, he took in his surroundings, realizing he had never seen this place before. Where were they? "What happened?" he asked, still in a state of confusion. The last thing he remembered was being struck by a lorry. "Am I dead?" he questioned, unable to fathom the sight before him. She was right there, looking even more radiant and full of life. She smiled at him, gently shaking her head. "No. You are not dead. You are just in a coma," she said, brushing his cheek. "What do you mean?" She sighed softly, gazing at him. "You were hit by a lorry. Fortunately, the people nearby acted swiftly," she explained, maintaining eye contact. "Why did you do it, Oppa?" she asked, tears welling in her eyes. He looked at her, releasing a deep sigh. "How can you ask me to live without you, Eun-suh?" he questioned, and she smiled sadly. "You have a bright future, oppa. You should continue to paint. You should go with Yoo-mi. She loves you very much," she said, Joon-suh staring at her in disbelief. "How can I do that when I know you are already gone, Eun-suh? All this while, I could endure the pain because I knew that one day, I could still meet you," he said, gently wiping away the tears that had trickled down her cheeks. "But now, I just have to live with the memories. It is too painful to do that." Eun-suh nodded, understanding his profound sorrow.

Eun-suh grabbed his hand. "Oppa, why don't we go for a walk? Can you give me a piggyback ride?" She asked, a big smile lighting up her face. Somehow, that smile made him forget everything he was dealing with. They both stood up, and Joon-suh bent down for her to climb onto his back. As he slowly straightened up and began walking, she called him, "Oppa?" "Hmm," he answered. "What should we do today?" she asked, causing him to pause for a moment. "I don't know. What do you want to do?" he asked, acknowledging that this was her world and he was just a part of it. "It doesn't matter, as long as it's with you," she said, leaning in to kiss the side of his head. His emotions were a mix of happiness, sadness, joy, and anxiety. "Oppa," she called again. "Yes?" he answered while continuing to walk with her on his back. "How about we go to the beach? You can draw my face," she suggested. He nodded and replied, "Sure, we can do that." She hugged him tightly, filled with excitement. "Just keep going straight from here, and you'll see the beach," she directed. He nodded and kept walking. "Oppa, why are you so quiet?" she asked, noticing his silence. Clearing his throat, he replied, "I'm not. I'm just trying to process everything that's happening." She nodded understandingly. "Oppa, this is only temporary. Eventually, you'll have to go back to the real world," she stated, causing him pain to hear. "Why can't I stay with you? I want to stay here with you," he expressed. She smiled softly and replied, "You can stay with me, but not yet. You have to keep your promise to stay alive and take care of omma and appa," leaning her head against his. "I want you here with me, but I can't be selfish. Omma, appa, they still need you," she added. "Eun-suh, this is one of the reasons why I love you so much," he said, smiling. "You're so selfless. You always think about them, even though they left you before," he added, feeling the pain of their parents separating them when they were kids. "Really? What else makes you love me?" she asked, and Joon-suh chuckled. "Hmm... Your cute, beautiful face, and the way you act silly when you do something wrong," he said, smirking.

As they walked along the sandy shore, the salty breeze in the air, they reached the beach. He gently helped her to her feet, his eyes meeting hers. "What do you love about me?" he inquired, and she beamed at him. "The way you're always so protective, your cool demeanor, and those adorable dimples," she replied, playfully poking his cheek. His laughter filled the air, and he couldn't remember the last time he felt so joyful. She was his happiness personified, and he couldn't fathom leaving her side.

"Come on, let's find a stick for me to draw your face," he suggested, scanning the surroundings until he spotted a suitable stick. Returning to her, he brushed her hair to one side and requested a smile as he playfully began to sketch her features in the sand. Eun-suh watched him with fondness, sensing, albeit reluctantly, that their time together might be drawing to a close.

After completing the drawing, he examined his handiwork and grinned mischievously at her. "Am I really that unattractive?" she teased, feigning a pout. "What? Is my drawing not beautiful?" he retorted, and though she tried to maintain a serious expression, she couldn't hold back her laughter. As her laughter filled the air, he couldn't resist tickling her, and they tumbled to the ground.

Their eyes locked as they lay on the sand, and he whispered her name, tenderly caressing her cheek. "I love you," he confessed, and her smile grew wide. "I love you too," she echoed. He drew her in for a deep, passionate kiss, their connection intensifying with every moment. Regaining their composure, he expressed his heartfelt desire for them to be together forever. "We will be, just not now," she assured him, tangling her lips with his once more.

In the midst of their love-filled reverie, they remained entwined on the soft sand, gazing up at the vast blue sky above, cherishing the memory of their first deep, passionate kiss—a moment that forever defined the best day of their lives.

They had both fallen asleep in each other's arms. For Joon-suh, it was the deepest sleep he had had in a long time. He only woke up when he realized she wasn't by his side. He sat up and looked around. "Eun-suh?" he called out, but there was no answer. He stood up, brushed the sand off his arms and pants, and called her name again, walking along the beach, searching. Where did she go? Could she have left him again? No, she couldn't do that without at least saying goodbye. "Eun-suh!" he shouted, "You can't leave me yet!" He shouted more and then suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. He held his chest and groaned. "What's happening?" he asked himself, kneeling in pain. "Joon-suh! Stay with us," he heard his parents' voices. He was confused. Why was he in pain? "Joon-suh! Come back to us," the voices called again, and the pain intensified. There, behind a tree, Eun-suh watched Joon-suh in pain, knowing he would soon return to the real world. "I'm sorry, Oppa. This is for the best. Please take care of Omma and Appa," she said to herself, wiping away her tears as she walked away. Joon-suh lay on the ground, still in pain, his vision blurred. He could just make out a female figure walking away. "Eun-suh..." he weakly called her name as his body slowly disappeared.
