"You were friends once?" Abigail asked after taking a bite of the food she had taken from the kitchen. She sat at a desk across from her father. "You and Sirius Black?" she explained. "They were talking in the common room about how they spotted him in Dufftown. Not too far from here." She placed her fork down and folded her hands in front of herself, "But he's one of the ones from your stories. The ones who helped you?"

"He was," Lupin nodded, "Yes." Abigail knew this was always a sore subject for him. She tended to avoid asking questions about his school years because of it but he was the only one she could talk to now.

Abigail frowned slightly, "Do you think he's really after Harry?"

"It's entirely possible," he explained. "But nobody will know until they know."

"It's an awful lot to happen to a kid so young," she pointed out. "All that loss...and on top of it, all that pressure that comes with being famous amongst the wizarding community."

"Lunch is about to end and your classmates will be arriving soon," he reminded her and she rolled her eyes.

"We've been over this already, dad," she huffed. "It's not as though I don't have friends, I just sometimes prefer just talking to you instead." She stood up and walked across the room to get rid of her trash, "It's not like they don't know you're my father. It's not that odd that I would have lunch with you." She shrugged, "Besides, I don't care if they think I'm a loser who eats lunch with her father, it makes no difference to me."

"Alright, alright," he shook his head, "I won't bring it up again." Lupin stood up and waved his wand, causing all of the tables to disappear. He waved it once more and a tall cabinet appeared.

Students began to enter the room and Abigail walked over to joining Harry and Ron once she saw them. "Where were you?" Harry inquired once he noticed her approaching them.

"Oh, I decided to eat with my father today," she explained simply before the class began.

"Intriguing, isn't it?" Lupin asked once all the students had settled down. "Would anyone like to venture a guess as to what is inside?"

A student raised his hand and Lupin called on them, "That's a boggart, that is."

"Very good, Mr. Thomas," he nodded in approval. He looked around at everyone, "Now, can anybody tell me what a boggart looks like?"

"No one knows," Hermione spoke up from behind Abigail, Harry and Ron.

Ron gaped at Hermione before looking over at Harry and Abigail, "When did she get here?" Harry glanced back at Hermione and Abigail merely shrugged.

"Boggarts are shape-shifters," Hermione explained. "They take the shape of whatever a person fears the most." She frowned slightly, "That's what makes them so..."

"So terrifying, yes," Lupin agreed. "Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a boggart." He addressed everyone, "Let's practice it now. Without wands, please." Everyone stuffed their wands away, "After me. Riddikulus!"

"Riddikulus!" the students chorused in unison.

"Very good," he nodded, "A little louder and very clear. Listen: Riddikulus!"

"Riddikulus!"

"Very good," he nodded once more. "So much for the easy part." Lupin stepped forward, "The incantation alone is not enough. What really finishes a boggart is laughter. You need to force it to assume a shape you find truly amusing. Let me explain."

"Neville, would you join me, please?" Lupin suggested, gesturing to the now alarmed boy. The Professor encouraged him, "Come on, don't be shy. Come on." Neville stopped forward and joined Lupin, "Neville, what frightens you most of all?"

Neville remained quiet for a moment before eventually answering in a hushed tone, "Professor Snape."

Lupin leaned forward slightly, "Sorry?"

The boy spoke louder this time, "Professor Snape."

"Professor Snape," Lupin repeated, amused by something the rest of the class was not privy to. "Yes, he frightens all." He paused for a moment, "You live with your grandmother?"

"I don't want it to turn into her, either," he replied quickly and there was some laughter from the students behind him.

"No, it won't," he explained, "I want you to picture her clothes. Only her clothes, very clearly, in your mind."

"She carried a red handbag..." Neville began but Lupin cut him off.

"We don't need to hear," he informed the boy. "As long as you see it, we'll see it." He walked over to him, "Now, when I open that wardrobe, here's what I want you to do." He leaned down and whispered something into Neville's ear, leaving the rest of the class in the dark. He stood up straight and raised his voice, "Can you do that?"

Neville nodded and Lupin stepped away, "Yes, wand at the ready." He approached the cabinet and pointed his wand at it, "One, two, three."

The doorknob wiggled and a seemingly carbon copy of Snape peered out from behind the door of the cabinet menacingly. He stepped out and crept over to Neville who appeared petrified. "Think, Neville," Lupin spoke up, "Think."

"Riddikulus!" he shouted and Snape was suddenly dressed in the clothes of an old lady.

The room erupted with laughter and Lupin grinned, "Wonderful, Neville, wonderful!" Lupin looked toward the rest of the class, "Everyone, form a line!" The students scrambled to do so, "I want everyone to picture the thing they fear the very most and turn it into something funny."

"Next!" he announced. "Ron!" Ron took a step forward, "Concentrate. Face your fear. Be brave!" The boggart transformed into a massive spider, "Wand at the ready, Ron."

"Riddikulus!" the Weasley shouted and roller skates appeared on each of the spiders legs causing it to fall on itself.

Abigail glanced back at Harry who was directly behind her in line, "Spiders?"

"It's a whole thing with him," he explained, an amused expression on his face, "You should have seen his reaction when he found out about when I lived under the stairs and the closest thing I had to a companion when I slept in the closet under the stairs was a spider."

She grew alarmed at this, "You sleep in a closet?"

"Well, I used to," he answered quickly, his once amused expression gone. "Not anymore."

She opened her mouth to say something when she heard her father's voice, "Pay attention, Ms. Lupin, it's your turn."

When Abigail turned around, what was once a jack in the box changed rapidly into the spitting image of herself. Her breath caught in her throat as she stared straight at herself as though she were looking in a mirror. She tried to bring herself to raise her wand but to no avail, she was unable to do it. "Abigail," she could hear her father's voice but was too stunned to act.

She could see that he was about to step in when Harry stepped in front of Harry. The boggart began to shift into what appeared to be a dementor and Harry's face dropped. Lupin stepped in front of the boy and the full moon appeared, peering out from behind clouds. Abigail felt herself tense up as he raised his wand, "Riddikulus!"

The moon turned into a balloon and began to fly around the room as it deflated and it ended up back in the cabinet and Lupin locked it in. "That's enough for today," he announced and the remaining students let out huffs. "Collect your books from the back. That's the end of the lesson. Thank you!" The students began to gather their things and walk out, "You can't have too much of a good thing."

He then looked around the room for his daughter but she was quick to slip past him and exit the room, making her way back to the Gryffindor common room before anyone could stop her.
