Chapter Thirty-Six
Ambrosia filed down her nails as she looked up at Autor, she watched as he struggled to break free from his restraints. She couldn't believe she thought she had the upper hand; she could see the blood covering his eye as it poured from his eyebrow.
She took pride in his pain.
Autor blinked slowly, his vision blinded from the blood. He could taste blood through his mouth. He spat blood from his mouth, letting it land on the table.
Ambrosia stayed silent as she filed her nails.
Autor looked up at her, he could feel the ache of his wrists from the restraints.
Ambrosia watched as a smile spread across Autor's bloody lips "What?"
"You care so much about destroying me, but you haven't asked about your granddaughter."
Ambrosia shrugged slightly.
"Rose wouldn't be too happy with that answer."
Ambrosia shrugged again "Did you really think I care about her?"
"She obviously thought you cared about her."
"I used her to use you."
Autor swallowed the blood in his throat, he closed his eyes for a second as he tried to clear blood from his eyes. He wanted to see Ambrosia's face, he wanted to watch her suffer just as much as she was making him suffer.
"What?" She could see something in him that was different, she knew all the damage that she'd inflict on him wouldn't be enough to cover the surface of the pain he had poured over her.
"She isn't yours."
Ambrosia stopped filing her nails.
"She isn't, is she?"
Ambrosia watched Autor.
"I won't doubt that you were pregnant. I held your hand every step of the way. Every step." He attempted to focus on her as the blood started to sting his vision "But our Rose died, didn't she. She died at birth. She died before we had a chance to hear her screams."
Ambrosia slammed her nail file on the table "SHUT UP!"
"Ambrosia. You stole a baby!"
"NO!"
"YOU TOOK SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD! YOU LET ME BELIEVE THIS LIE!"
"NO!"
Waltz stood in the corner of the room as he watched, he watched with interest as his pain came to light.
Autor pulled his hands out of his restraints, he gave his wrists a quick stretch before standing up to his feet.
Ambrosia held fear in her position as she remained seated.
"What did you do?"
"I didn't."
"Liar."
"Autor, I didn't. I didn't." She looked up at Waltz "We didn't. Rose is."
"Dead" Waltz sighed with pain "I know."
Ambrosia shook her head.
"Treasure, please tell me. What happened." Waltz watched as Autor stepped towards Ambrosia.
Ambrosia rose up to her feet, it was as if the whole room was frozen. Autor stood silent as she stepped towards Waltz.
Waltz kept his ground as he watched, trying to make sense of what was happening around him.
"We don't know what happened. Rose was supposed to be alive. The doctor's said something had happened. We don't know what. What happened." Treasure looked at her ex-husband "Waltz, you have to believe I never meant to lie to you."
"But you did. I thought Poppy was mine for eighteen years."
Treasure lowered her head.
"She hates me because of what you did to us."
Treasure couldn't look up at Waltz.
Waltz kept backspacing every word he attempted to write as he stared at his laptop screen, he stared at the words he had written. He knew he'd have to take this scene out of the story, he couldn't write the truth, not this truth.
