Chapter Thirty-Nine

One year later

Waltz stood proudly at the front of the crowd, he folded his book closed before looking up at the audience, just like Judith they had waited in anticipation for his new book.

The small crowd cheered.

Waltz tried to take in every face that he could see, he tried to enjoy their cheers even though his story Forgive Them had been his truth from the pain he had lived through while he was with his ex-wife; Treasure and the damage that had been inflicted onto their daughter; Poppy.

He caught a young face in the crowd, a young face he felt like he wouldn't see ever again in his lifetime.

Waltz placed his book down on the chair he had sat on before carefully stepping down from the stage.

"Everyone that would like their books signed, please form a line at this table and Waltz will get to everyone." Spoke Judith.

Waltz didn't acknowledge her as he tried to move through the crowd, he ignored "That was amazing.," "The best you've ever written," "That was beautiful" and "Such powerful emotions." Including one that he hadn't heard before "Thank you for not killing her."

Waltz stopped in front of the young woman who had caught his attention, he could feel his nerves ride through his body as he stared at her face.

She wrapped her arms around Waltz "I missed you, Dad."

Waltz allowed himself to sink into the embrace.
