Interview 36
Where are you from?
Hawaii 🌺
How old are you?
19
What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?
What inspires me to write is my ideas and how people like to read my stories. Who inspires me to write are my family, friends, and teachers without them I wouldn't be the writer that I am today.
What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?
I read a lot of books I can't really say what was the first book I actually read although I did start reading books when I was in elementary either 2nd or 3rd grade.
What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?
I started taking my writing seriously when I was in intermediate. Then I took a break when I was in my first two years of high school. After that, I started to write again during my last two years of high school. Now that I'm in college I'm still trying to make time and schedule a day/date where I can write all day although it's hard with schoolwork, homework, and writer's block. I'm doing my best to get back on track with publishing new upcoming stories for people to read.
What is the inspiration for your stories?
The inspirations for my stories come from books that I read, movie & tv shows that I watched, real-life experience/thoughts, Nature, Performances (Plays & Musical) that I have been in ( participated or helped) or seen
Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?
I either one whichever one I feel like doing although I just do a sketch or a rough draft first then I'll figure out the rest of the details as I go/move along forward with the stories. I'm more a go with the flow type of person although that doesn't mean I don't like to figure out what to write first because sometimes I have to. Most of the time I just write my ideas and if it makes sense I leave or if it doesn't make sense I'll try an outline to see what I did wrong.
What is your method of beginning to writing a book?
I don't really have a method to begin my book although I do it two ways which are to come out with the idea first then write the story or write the title first and figure out a story to go with the title. Those are my most easy to use go method.
Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?
Yes, I get attached to my stories. In a lot of the stories that I write I can relate to the personality and quirks of the character. I can't really say what personalities and quirks I can relate to with my characters although with more updates and chapters you will see a lot of the characters I write are somewhat similar to me. I'll also be writing new stories and the characters will/are going to be based on me or basically me.
Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?
I base all of my characters on either real life & ideas or my imagination. It all depends on what I feel like writing or the mood that I'm in when I'm writing the story/book. I can't say if it's a mix of both although it might be in future updates, chapters, and stories.
What is the best part of writing a story?
The best part about writing a story is the connection and ideas. The connection that I have with the characters that I'm writing. The idea that comes to me whether it's real (true) or Fake (False).
How do you deal with writer's block?
If I'm being honest I don't know how to deal with writer's block although I just read, watch movies or tv shows, research, and just go outside be one with Nature.
Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?
Yes, I would like to see " One Last Time To Dance" come to life on the big screen. I would like Nia Soux (Dance Mom Star) to play the main character Rue.
What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
Always write to you not because a person wants you to write. Don't let your ideas flop or go down. Never say you can't write or you not good enough because you are just getting started. Give yourself space and time to relax take time for yourself. Have fun with your stories and connect with the characters. Just be yourself when you write. If you stress or struggle forever plan a new strategy and dedicate a day to your thought.
Are you working on a new story?
Yes, I'm working on many new and upcoming stories. I'm also always freely open to new ideas, thoughts, and opinions. I love making friends and getting more opportunities.
