Interview 29

Where are you from?

Prefer not to give the exact location, but I'm from the U. S.

How old are you?

19, almost 20 yrs. old.

What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?

I would say that I have always been creative thinking. I love to draw as well as write, so for the longest time, I thought I'd go into animation. Long story short, I realized that writing was more for me as I love to read so much! My parents are very supportive of my dream/goal to become a, hopefully, crossing my fingers, published author someday.

😊

What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?

I would say back in 5th grade, Secret of the Midnight Ponies. But as I got a bit older, around 14-15yrs. old, Shannon Messengers Keeper of the Lost Cities series really sparked my imagination for reading.

What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?

After I graduated from high school, I ended up getting a job as a bookseller at Barnes and Noble. Being immersed in that book dwelling environment and meeting a fellow drier friend, has really inspired me to take my writing more seriously, as to hopefully, one day see my books upon those very same shelves that I browse, shelf, and help customers find books.

What is the inspiration for your stories?

Everything! Me personally, I love a lot of movies & animated tv shows, Avatar: The Last Airbender for example, really inspired me because it's kid-friendly, as well as for adults, that shares something with its viewers/fans. The show produced comedy and life-long lessons that resonate with each of us, and that is inspiring for me, to hopefully be able to portray into my stories.

Everyday life is another inspiration. Our trials and struggles, though to us are difficult to overcome, are great assets to us as writers. Because we experience something, we can then write about those things and help our readers understand and feel what some of us can't express through our own words.

Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?

I'm really trying to focus on outlining my stories, but I do write the ideas that just come to mind.

What is your method of beginning to writing a book?

For me, it has to be something that interests me. For example, you can't really write to your full potential, if you find historical fiction unappealing.

A lot of things that inspire me, movies, other books, even people, plant ideas inside of me that, when I write them down, I nourish it and it blossoms into a story!

Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?

Oh yes, for sure!! I'm currently in the process of writing a non-Wattpad story, that is YA Fantasy, and I absolutely love my protagonist! She posses qualities that I wish I myself could have.

Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?

Mostly from my imagination, but I'd definitely say both. I may be inspired by something that is fiction, but real life plays a huge role in developing my characters.

What is the best part of writing a story?

For me, I love sweet and tender love stories with fantastical and action elements in them. So, I love it when two souls, who start and deepen their relationships, even when adversity strikes their lives.

How do you deal with writer's block?

I just try my best to immerse myself in the subject/genre of what I'm writing to continue to motivate myself.

Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?

I'd love it if that would happen!! I'd have to really research the actors out there, but if my stories could be adapted into a traditional animation movie/show, that would be absolutely amazing!!!

What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

To never give up. Don't let the naysayers bog you down, but most importantly, don't let yourself push you down!!

You can do this!!

You are a writer now! Don't ever give up on yourself!! If you get excited and giddy over the story you're crafting, let that be your spark, and just keep going!!!

Are you working on a new story?

Yes, I currently am.

But let me just say, news ideas spark me all the time!! So... I don't think I'll ever stop having a new story!! 😊😂
