Interview 27

Where are you from?

I'm from North America

How old are you?

I'm 15

What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?

A girl in an older grade told me about Wattpad. She was into writing and usually wrote in her notebook. Eventually, she noticed me somehow.

What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?

I usually read fanfics on Wattpad - I remember reading Bonded By Blood by CrazyAnimeLife1 and I've never been so inspired by such an amazing plot ending. That's the kind of stuff that keeps my writer's gears turning.

What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?

As soon as I got settled into high school, I started using Wattpad again. I guess that it was around this time that I chose to make my current account, CassandraHW, to start my writing journey.

What is the inspiration for your stories?

I don't have a specific inspiration for my stories, but certain characters may be inspired by shows or books that I've read. For example, two of my characters, Rin and Siin, from "Searching for Chi" have some character aspects similar to Hinata and Kageyama from the Japanese anime "Haikyuu!!" Rin is a lot like Hinata's personality and Siin's physical character is somewhat like Kageyama's.

Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?

I prefer to begin my stories by writing whatever I come up with, but then I follow some kind of outline to keep my story running. If I have a plan for my story, then I won't just decide to stop writing when my characters have a future in mind.

What is your method of beginning to writing a book?

Like I said in my newest release, The Book of Prologues, I get the best ideas as soon as I wake up after a dream. Now that I write just about every idea that comes to mind, I can start it. However, when I began my first book, Searching for Chi, I didn't have this. I decided to write a story that I've always wanted to see written. I just chose a few favorite genres and planned some characters.

Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?

I love every one of my characters, no matter how bitchy I make them be lol. I want them to thrive in my stories... cause they're my babies, n I love them!

Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?

I might do this subconsciously, but I aim to write about original content

What is the best part of writing a story?

I've never written a full story before, but I look forward to the parts where I come up with a genius idea, especially one that I didn't have planned. It feels really good to have my work out so well.

How do you deal with writer's block?

I also said this in my new release The Book of Prologues: I write down every idea I have so that I don't have to deal with writer's block most of the time. Otherwise, I avoid doing brain-burning activities for a bit and just take a break from writing. Then the next day or so I will have more brainpower to keep myself running - Plan, folks!

Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?

I would love to have my stories animated, but I'd prefer not to have my work to be acted out in real life.

What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?

Don't ever give up! It's now or never! Writing takes time and experience to get started. Don't expect your first novels to get 10k views overnight.

Are you working on a new story?

I am working on The Book of Prologues and my story Searching for Chi! Please check them out and give me a follow :D
