Interview 2
Where are you from?
Lincoln, Nebraska
How old are you?
Fourteen
What and who inspired you into reading and/or writing?
I kind of just always liked writing, in school when we would free write in our journals was my favorite part of the day. I wanted to start writing for more people so I downloaded Wattpad. I started reading books on things I enjoyed and wrote stories like little fanfics about them too. As I grew older I'm starting to find my own story (even though fanfic doesn't hurt from time to time) and I guess I would just say the Wattpad community alone inspired me.
What was the first book that you read that started your love for reading?
Oh jeez! I can barely remember what I did yesterday. I would have to say when I read the Mouse and the Motorcycle in second/third grade, I started to learn there was more than just essay writing and I began to have fun with it.
What was the turning point in your life that you decided to take your writing seriously?
I'm fourteen. I wouldn't say anything is too serious for me yet lol.
What is the inspiration for your stories?
The people I meet and live around me.
Do you outline your stories or write whatever comes to mind?
I definitely write what comes to mind. I try to plan what I want to happen but it never really works.
What is your method of beginning to writing a book?
Picking a topic that means something to me and making it happen.
Do you ever get attached to the characters in your story? If so, what part of their personality or quirks do you find relatable?
Ahh, Yessir. Alli! I love her personality. She's sensitive yet strong, a bit dramatic, and boy crazy. But also nice, caring, and always up for a little bit of fun. She's like an ideal middle school girl that I would literally be besties with.
Do you base your characters on people in your personal life, imagination, or both?
Both, but mostly real people.
What is the best part of writing a story?
Seeing how much other people also like your story. The way they can connect to your characters and form a bond with them is just amazing.
How do you deal with writer's block?
I read other books until I find an idea that suits my story. When I find an idea that I like and motivates me to write I twist it up and make it happen. Writer's block normally happens when I'm writing too much at once.
Would you want to see your story or stories be adapted? If so, who would you want to play your characters?
The answer is yes! I would want to sit there and audition my characters for hours though because I have how I want them to be portrayed planned out. The way they look, talk, etc.
What kind of advice would you give to an aspiring writer?
Just never give up. Writing isn't something that happens in a day, be patient and you'll love the outcomes of your work.
Are you working on a new story?
Yes ma'am!
