Physical Description: Maaike is certainly a childhood beauty. With smooth, porcelain cheeks that looks like a china doll's, and sparkling hazel eyes, this young girl has the innocent appearance of a child far younger than her actual age. Maaike's long hair is a deep, vibrant shade of brownish-red, a rarity in District Four. She is short, which is not surprising because of her young age, standing at only 1.45 meters, and is "as skinny as a toothpick". Her skin is pale which would be considered strange because of the generally tanned skin most District Four citizens have, but those who know Maaike are aware that she is hardly ever out of the house because of her sickness.

Personality: Bright and sweet are the words most used to describe Maaike, and the words are well used. Maaike is an angel from heaven. She helps the elderly and takes care of the poor, despite the fact that her family isn't at all wealthy. She likes spending her time with animals and nature rather than her own kind, and the girl has a strange fascination with plants and herbs. She strives to make others happy, and Maaike has a knack for always staying positive even when times are hard—a trick she'd picked up from her sickly childhood days. Maaike has no enemies, or none she knows of, anyways. Everyone who knows her loves her for the girl's personality, and Maaike loves them back equally.

Background Information: Maaike was born a sickly child, and her Mother died birthing her. Poor and with a baby daughter to raise, Maaike's Father Jonathan begged on the streets of Four for scraps of food or shelter for the night. The first few months of Maaike's life—even though she does not remember it—were hard. Until finally, one day, Jonathan's fishing business started growing. Over the years, the Stolburgs have built their account until finally when Maaike was eight did they finally live in a house of their own. When Maaike turned ten, however, she was hit with a vicious bout of fever which almost took the girl's life. After that, Jonathan contacted his Mother-in-Law, Margarita Trianne, a gifted herbalist, to look after Maaike while he was at work. While hesitant at first to leave her home, Margarita gave in to Jonathan's pleads and looked after Maaike in her weak days. The two bonded quickly and soon Maaike was following her grandmother around, begging to learn how to heal. Margarita agreed, and Maaike blossomed, inwardly and outwardly, after her grandmother's care. Innocent from the horrors of the Games, Maaike never expected to be reaped when she turned twelve, but that was exactly what happened. She left her home with a unique mix of terror and calmness in her heart. Maaike was determined to come home.

Weapon of Choice: Maaike does not believe in killing and has never used a weapon before in her life. If she had to chose, she would go with nightlock—the venomous berry was one she knew well and would give her enemy a quick, clean death. If it came down to that.
