BACKSTORY

mother has a quirk called Enchanted Voice which allows the user to hypnotize foes when she sings, also allows her to read the minds of her hypnotized targets. she is a hero named Songstress.
father has a quirk called telekinesis, which allows the user to lift any object with the mind, hero name is Oz. Kenji adopted his fathers quirk and the effect of reading minds from his mother.

he received his quirk at five, unlike the other children. instead of acting the part a usual child would, he acted mature and started training his quirk quickly. usually pushing away kids that wanted to play with him, he soon became lonely. his mother would always try and encourage him to play, but he refused.

one day, his father brought over a colleague and their young daughter. the two didn't like eachother at first; the girl being too carefree and happy whilst Kenji was always studying and silent. eventually, they started to talk and train together, which soon became a friendship. Shukaku Y/N was his best friend, and only friend for a long time. they went to the same middle school and Kenji opened up a bit, becoming more social. in time, Kenji was recommended and Y/N took the exam, both of them getting into class 1A.

POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS

the only person he would tell anything remotely secretive to is Y/N, as he trusts her more than anyone. also his parents, but he normally doesn't like to think about telling them his secrets. they're nice, but they like to tease him, especially his father.

Kenji also has a few other close friends, being Tokoyami Fumikage, Shoji Menzou and Todoroki Shouto.

NEGATIVE RELATIONSHIPS

he doesn't actually have any bad relationships, but prefers to stay away from the girls in his class. as he found out in his second year of U.A, some of the girls in his class and even some from 2B have crushes on him. he tries not to be awkward, so he tends to shy away from them, as he knows, but they do not.

one exception would be his older sister, who left when he was just starting middle school. before she left, however, he read her mind and was shocked to find out that she wanted to be a villain. after talking with her and acquiring a couple new mental bruises, she left the house in rage and left her younger brother very confused.
