Love sick (Starkey/Darius)
~POV Starkey~
"Shoot!" I say as I spill my baked beans on my singlet. I'm sitting at the table in the chess room eating my breakfast, across from Darius and k9, still in my PJ pants and singlet.
Darius looks up from whatever he was working on. "Good on ya." He says laughing before looking back down.
I get up and go to the laundry, I take my top off, spray it with stain remover and chuck it in the washer. I poke my head back into the chess room. "Any clothes to put in the washer?" I ask.
Darius just responds with a simple "No." without looking up. I quickly turn on the washer, I go to sit back down and finish off my breakfast.
Darius glances up, before returning to his work. He then looks back up and glares. "Could you go put a shirt on?" He asks.
"No, what if I spill again? I don't want to waste another shirt." I explain. "But what about modesty?" He asks.
"And? I mean only guys live here and Jorjie isn't gonna be here for another few hours." I point out.
"Yeah, well I don't want to have to look at your blinding pasty chest." He says. I just roll my eyes and say. "Well then don't look. Plus I'm not any pastier than you."
He shakes his head and goes back to fiddling. I returned to my eating. With some last few mouthfuls left I accidentally drop my fork, causing a bean to fly and land on my chest. "Damn, well at least I saved a shirt."
Darius looks up as I grab the bean off my chest and eat it. He quickly looks away and I quickly eat the rest of my food. "Alright, I'm gonna go shower." I say to nobody in particular and grab my plate to put in the sink. I leave to take my shower.
~POV Darius~
"Master Darius, do you feel alright? My sensors detect a raise in body temperature. I believe you may have a fever. Would you like me to ask Starkey to bring you some medication?" K9 states.
"Uh, I'm fine. It's not a fever. Just a human thing. It will calm down in a few minutes." I explain to him. He nods, although not satisfied with that answer and floats away.
I turn back to my work but slowly start to feel myself zone out. I imagine Starkey standing in front of me bare-chested, with fresh, soft bed hair. Starkey freshly out of the shower, water dripping from his hair, onto his chest, towel around his waist. I hum happily.
~POV Starkey~
I walk out of the bathroom, fully clothed. K9 floats in front of me.
"Master, I believe Darius has a fever. He has had a heightened body temperature this morning. It slowly rose after you washed your top and spiked just before you took a shower. He assures me this is just something humans do and it will end momentarily, but I'm not quite convinced. Please don't tell him I told you." He says sounding concerned, or at least as concerned as a robot dog can sound.
I think for a second before chuckling. "Alright K9, I'll check on him. I don't think it's a fever though. But I do know how to take care of it. Why don't you go find the professor? We'll need some privacy for a little bit while I check on him." I explain. K9 floats off.
I walk back into the chess room and notice Darius staring off into space, smiling like an idiot. "So, I hear you have a fever." I say quite loudly, scaring him. He blushes slightly, opening his mouth to say something.
"K9 told me. But it seems it's gotten worse. You're zoning out, that's another sign of a fever." I say with a smirk, trying to hide it. I walk over and put the back of my hand on his forehead, causing him to blush harder.
"Ah yes, definitely a fever. Ok, time to get you to bed... oh wait you sleep in your car. Hmm, alright my room it is. Come on." I say grabbing his hand and pulling him along.
"Wha? Wait. I, I don't have a fever, I'm fine." He retorts, and I shake my head.
"Oh don't be silly. You're gonna lie down and I'm gonna take care of you, just relax, don't fight it. I'm gonna make you feel all better." I say pulling him up the stairs. He tries to pull his hand away but I hold on tight.
"But the professor will see us holding hands." "He's on the other end of the house, plus I'll just tell him, you have a fever and I'm taking care of you."
I pull him into my room. I close and lock the door. I sit Darius on my bed, sitting next to him and start to take off his jacket.
He blushes deeply. "What are you doing?" He asks. "I have to take off any heavy, warm, unnecessary clothing, like your jacket. And your shoes, well mainly because I don't want shoes on my bed." I say, pulling the jacket off and bending down to take off his shoes.
I push him to lie down on top of my blankets. "Uh but, what, what about the medicine? Don't you have to go get that?"
I smile. "I've already got your medicine." I place the back of my hand on his forehead. I hum quizzically and dramatically shake my head.
"I can't tell. Let's try this." I say leaning down and pressing my forehead to his. I use my forearms on either side of his head to stabilise myself. He blushes.
"Ah, just as I thought." I whisper. I close my eyes and place a soft kiss on his lips. I feel him freeze and his face heats up. I panic for a second before he melts into the kiss.
I position myself better, swinging my leg over his body so I'm sitting in his lap. He wraps his arms around my waist.
After a few minutes, we part and take a breath. He laughs. "Looks like you may have caught a fever too." "Oh, no! Looks like I'm gonna need some medicine too." I say dramatically before leaning back down.
We somehow found ourselves under the covers, cuddling. Before we hear a knock on the door. "Starkey, are you in there?" We hear Jorjie call through the door. We look at each other before I sigh.
I get up and check myself in the mirror. Gosh, I look like a mess. I try to fix my hair before opening the door, sliding through and closing it behind me, fake yawning.
"Oh, hi Jorjie. Is it 12 already?" I ask. "Yeah, I've been trying to call you." She responds. "Oh, sorry. I guess I must have fallen back to sleep."
"Do you know where Darius is? I can't reach him either." "Uh, nope. I think he said something about going out." I blush lightly thinking about him lying in my bed.
"Master Starkey, you appear to have the same symptoms as Darius displayed earlier. Do you have the same illness?" K9 asks after scanning me.
"Are you ok? Is Darius ok?" The professor asks as he walks past.
"Uh, um. Yeah, yes. Same thing, but like I said I know how to fix it. I Uh, just need some rest. Uh, sorry Jorjie. Maybe you could hang out with K9?" I say.
"Oh, it's ok. I'll probably just talk to the professor and then go home. Rest up, Starkey." She says walking off. I slip back into my room and climb back into bed.
~POV Jorjie~
"K9, could you tell me about these symptoms?" I ask. "Of course. The main symptoms appear to be accelerated body temperature and a compulsion to 'fib'." He explains. "And when did these start?"
"This morning. Directly after Starkey had spilt baked beans on his top and had placed it in the wash, Darius' body temperature began to rise at that point as Starkey continued to eat his breakfast but spiked when Starkey said he was going to take a shower. I told Starkey this after his shower and had not seen either of them up until now." He states.
"And Starkey was shirtless while eating there on out?" I ask. "Affirmative."
I gasp and start laughing. "Oh, that lying little..." I say, walking to the professor.
"They're not sick, and Starkey knows exactly where Darius is." I state. The professor looks at me confused. "The only real symptom is raised body heat, caused by Starkey being shirtless. And K9 hasn't seen either of them since Starkey said he'd take care of it."
The professor makes an acknowledging noise before nodding. "Well, I guess I'll leave them to it. Go on, go home you'll probably get bored." He says.
"Wait, I do not understand. They are not sick?" Ask K9. We just laugh and shake our heads. I wave goodbye and leave.
~POV Darius~
I'm cuddling with Starkey, this cute hug-able boy, boy, he's a boy! I can't, that's not..... Oh, no, what if he's messing with me? I quickly get up, off the bed. "I, I can't. I'm meant to like Jorjie, not you, you're just messing with me."
Starkey sits up face full of surprise before it quickly drops. "No, I. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have. Right, of course, you like Jorjie. Uh, I'm sure you could catch up with her." He says looking away and hugging his legs.
I look at his face. It breaks my heart. "I'm meant to like Jorjie, but I don't, not in that way. I've tried. Urgh, you just mess with my head."
I sit back down on the bed. "Just, just tell me you weren't messing with me." I say quietly.
He snaps his eyes to mine. "Darius, it's been 3 hours. If I was messing with you I would have stopped and broke character after like a minute." He says with a straight face, still with a hint of sadness.
I don't react. "I wasn't messing with you. I just, I guess I read the clues wrong." He says looking away.
I take a deep breath and climb next to him. "You're the one I think about like I literally can't stop. It pisses me off, I hate it."
I wrap my arms around his body, his legs and all, and bury my head into his neck. "I, I'm sorry I freaked out. I, I just started thinking." I whisper.
"Well, we both know how dangerous that is." He says smiling. "Shut up!" I say lightly pushing him.
"Make me!" He says smirking.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Oh my, I had no problems writing this one (apart from the fact that I started writing at 2 am), well over my 1000-word minimum.
I even left out stuff, like Jorjie being upset because she's in love with Starkey in the show. But it's such an obscure show I thought I should just leave it out.
Another "based on a dream" story. I think I did alright, apart from all the POV hopping.
Also partially inspired by the story Ouroboros fever by TheFailedWriter on fanfiction.net. except Starkey actually had a fever in that.
I wrote this because I finally brought the complete series on DVD and can finally watch more than the first 6 episodes.
Am I procrastinating writing a oneshot by writing other one-shots? Yes. Will you see that one before this one? Yes.
Anyway, I'm gonna sleep.
Love you
Bye
