•THIRTY-THREE•
The remainder of the evening was spent in a comfortable silence, Hongjoong content with staying as close to Seonghwa as he could possibly get without feeling like his entire face was about to explode in flames.
This meant there was always just a little bit of empty space between them, which ultimately made Seonghwa feel like he'd done wrong by asking Hongjoong to kiss him. Seonghwa takes a few glances in Hongjoong's direction before he says something.
"Have i done something very wrong this time?"
Hongjoong, who was previously lost in his own mind was awoken from his stupor by Seonghwa's words, and he turns to the prince with a frown as he says, "no! No of course not!"
Seonghwa chuckled softly. "There's no need to yell Blue"
Hongjoong blinked at him. "Blue? Where'd that come from?"
"You have blue hair so I thought it was fitting"
Hongjoong smiled softly. "Already giving me endearing nicknames are we?"
Seonghwa leans in closer, and Hongjoong can feel his cheeks warm up at the proximity.
"Does that scare you, Blue?"
Hongjoong shakes his head. "No, it doesn't...babe"
Seonghwa grins from ear to ear, and promptly smashes his lips against Hongjoong's. It shocked the younger a little, but Hongjoong quickly relaxed into the kiss, raising his hands to cup the back of Seonghwa's neck. Hongjoong is the one to break the kiss when air is needed, giggling softly when he sees Seonghwa's eyes still closed and leaning further in for another kiss.
The wolf Lisa is watching them with soft eyes, though she only watches for a few moments before becoming too tired and falling asleep on the other side of them.
This calmness only lasts for a few more minutes before San notices a presence getting closer to their campsite. San calls out to Jongho, which gains the attention of Hongjoong and Seonghwa. Lisa the wolf remains fast asleep, and the horses don't seem at all bothered by this new presence. Hongjoong relaxes somewhat, because now he figures that this presence isn't evil.
"Hello" the figure speaks.
San blinks. "What's a girl doing all the way out here?"
"I came here to see if you boys needed any help" the girl takes off the hood that was covering her face.
Seonghwa was the first to notice the elf ears, although she didn't look all that familiar to him. Seonghwa always made it a point to know the majority of the people living within the Elven Kingdom, but maybe this was one Elf he missed.
"It's alright, we don't really need any help" San smiles.
The girl simply turns to him and says, "are you sure? Because I have information that may save you in the long run"
San's smile drops.
"What do you mean?" Seonghwa asks.
Hongjoong says nothing, trying to figure out who this girl is and why the horses and Lisa aren't reacting to her presence in any negative way. In fact, it's almost like the animals can't see her standing there.
"A danger is at the Town; one you should try your absolute best to avoid" the girl says. "It's best you go around, and maybe instead go through the Elven Kingdom to get where you want to go"
There's a long moment of silence that follows until Hongjoong finally says, "and where do you think we're wanting to go?"
The girl turns to him. "Judging by the direction you came from, I'd say you're either heading to the Town, or wanting to go through the Town to get to the Fairy Mountains"
Hongjoong narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?"
The girl smiles. "My name is Carolyn, and I'm an Elf"
"You being an Elf was obvious. We can tell by your ears" Seonghwa says.
Carolyn turns to Seonghwa. "So...are you going to heed my warning? Or ignore it?"
Hongjoong pulls Seonghwa to him before the prince can respond and whispers into his ear, "I think we should heed her warning. Mikaelis might have gone to the Town. He might be waiting for me there"
Seonghwa nods, pulling away from Hongjoong. "Alright Carolyn, we'll heed your warning"
Carolyn looks relieved to hear that as she says, "thank you, Prince Seonghwa. I'm known to have these sort of...visions sometimes and one of them was you and your friends being in grave danger was one of them"
Seonghwa nods. "I see. Well, thank you for coming all the way out here to warn us"
"Oh, I was just on my way to Pixie Place and I saw you four here. I didn't know it was you until I got closer. Anyway, I'd best be off now" Carolyn bows, "have a good trip"
With that, Carolyn walks around their camp and continues walking. Hongjoong watches her go, still curious about why an Elf would be walking around at night when she could be easily attacked by Shades. Seonghwa, Jongho and San weren't paying attention, but Hongjoong saw the exact moment the girl disappeared.
Not disappeared into the darkness, but disappeared in a burst of dim light. Hongjoong quickly turned away, inwardly cursing when he realized he couldn't exactly tell anyone that Carolyn disappeared in a burst of light.
He just hoped that heeding her warning was the right thing to do...
Because I don't feel like commenting it, here's a massive hint on who the girl is: she's someone who was mentioned in a much earlier chapter with a name that starts with C. (Don't comment the name once you get it!) Also, a couple of chapters ago, it literally says that Mikaelis headed towards the Town, meaning he's already there so she's telling the truth about a danger being there
