Aurora│Chapter 3

Chapter 3

***

The girl hadn't asked the simple questions like normal human beings - "Who are you?" or "What's your name?"

Instead she had asked the most difficult and tricky one - "What are you?"

If it was any other guy, he would have been confused by this curious question. No girl, outright questions the other person's existence or shows suspicions about it. But this was no ordinary boy and she knew it.

The question had put the boy in a dilemma as he couldn't possibly answer this one, without giving out his true identity. It wasn't because he didn't have an answer to it but because one - he didn't trust her to not freak out, two - he had no idea of her true nature and three - answering her question might as well lead to her death.

Yes, answering her question could inevitably lead to her own death.

Death was a normal thing for this boy and he refused to think twice before acting on his instincts. But this time surprisingly his instincts told him that the girl was no danger to his existence. His heart told him to trust her a little bit instead of pulling out his sword, readying it to pierce into her heart.

He decided to hide behind his cocky attitude and answered her question with another one.

"I could ask you the same, you know?" his signature smirk took its position on his face, proud at himself for trapping the girl with her own question. But it looked like his plan had failed as the girl stared at him with confused eyes; she hadn't understood his smart comment or his intentions.

The boy fought the urge to roll his eyes at her and repeated the question. "I could ask you - What kind of creature are you?"

Upon hearing his question instant fear flashed through her eyes and the girl took a couple of steps backwards stumbling on a discarded can, her body swaying sideways as she tried to regain her balance.

"Woah! Woah! Slow down or you might fall on that cute ass of yours." the boy's smile remained in place and he put up his hands in the universal sign of peace. He desperately wanted the girl to believe in him, to trust him even if it was just for a little while.

The boy was completely lost to the fountain of feelings flowing within him. He had never before experienced such extreme urges to comfort a random girl that he had met round the corner. Either she had some powerful magic that enabled her to enchant someone like him with her beauty or she was something far more then what she showed.

The boy was almost sure that it was the latter. Spells and enchantments had never worked on him before and he doubted they did now. None of the spells could ever make his heart race like it did now; it was all because of this unique connection he shared with the strange girl in front of him. How on Earth had he gotten himself into something like this?

This was all so ridiculous, he felt so foolish and yet his poor heart tried to convince him that this was special...

"What do you want from me?" the girl's voice was laced with fear and suspicion and that snapped him out of his confused thoughts. The girl still didn't trust him and it was beginning to take toll on his patience.

"Ok. Look, I don't know how to explain this, but I feel something for you and I know you do as well."

At the mention of her feelings the girl blushed bright red and hid her face with her silky blonde hair, allowing only a fraction of her bright blue eyes to peek out from within.

"I am sorry I can't answer your question...but I am really interested in knowing more about you. So umm...could we be friends?" the boy asked, a little unsure of his sudden decision. He was purely going on his instincts and doing the only thing that felt right at that moment. He needed to get closer to this particular girl if he was already dreaming about making her his.

The girl seemed to be highly impressed with his frankness and the look of fear in her eyes faded to some degree. She gave a nod of approval and waited for him to make his next move.

"Hey! I am Klaus Monroe; it's nice to meet you Miss.'

The girl looked at his outstretched hand for a few seconds, hesitant to thrust herself into this unfamiliar world of friendship and guys. The boy smiled on seeing her confused face and took a step forward.

"Trust me. I don't bite."

For a second the boy thought he had lost the girl, but then, laughter like the chiming of bells filled his ears. It made him feel all warm and giddy on the inside. It was her laughter.

The girl had let down her guard and was finally beginning to peek out of her shell and the boy felt extremely happy to be the reason behind that change.

"Call me Isabella... Isabella Deuce."
