The silence was deafening, not one word was heard.

"Aurora" father called calmly

I tilted my head towards him, "with all due respect enforcer, I would appreciate if you try not to adopt me. Am not a part of your family and I won't be".

Mother looked close to tears "Aurora baby please don't say that".

I stared at her, "am not your baby, ma'am. Am pretty sure your daughter Lisa would be highly offended by that"

"I will not tolerate you disgracing this family, so just come up here" father bellowed.

I glared at him "your family would not be disgraced if you quit the act".

He came down from the podium heading straight to my table

Oooh he's pissed Cora chuckled.

"You will stop with this behavior this instant".

I smirked at him, "but you're not my dad so you can't tell me what to do".

He growled then raised his hand but before he could get it down, I held it applying pressure "am not sure you're setting good example for the pack enforcer Michael".

"And am sure the people who took you in and you call parents didn't teach you a thing about respect" he retorted.

I wanted to rip his head off, I really wanted to but I knew I had to play it cool.

So I smiled and whispered "am glad you know that they didn't, the information could be of great help in the future", letting his hand go I stepped back and watched with pride the way he winced while rubbing his hand.

From my peripheral vision I saw Liam walked in and glancing at our direction.

"Am sorry enforcer but like I said, am not and I will never be a member of your family. I would appreciate it if you remember this".

He glared at me for a moment before stomping off to the podium.

"Let the party begin" he muttered into the mic before pulling this mate's hand and leaving with Liam behind them.

The DJ began the music and everyone cheered before dancing and mingling like nothing happened.

I sat down and took a deep breath, when I was calm I looked up to see Kate holding a slice of pizza before me.

Smiling I took it "girl you know my mind".

We laughed and but Luke was glaring at me.

What's his problem now, Cora grumbled.

Kate turned to Mary, standing she bowed slightly, "my darling mate, can I have this dance?".

Mary giggled and blushed before taking Kate's hand and headed to the dance floor.

Neil pulled Dave up and dragged him to the floor, so it was just Luke and I.

Leaning back I studied him "so what's your problem with Liam?".

He seemed startled by my question but covered it "nothing, I just don't trust him".

Liar liar pants on fire Cora snickered.

Raising my brows I smiled, "really Luke, that's all you're gonna say". But he only shrugged.

"I actually thought you were jealous of him" I muttered while playing with my soda.

He grunted, "why will I be jealous of him, his not even normal. He's a proud prick".

"And how is he a proud prick?"

Luke scowled "just because he's stronger he thinks everyone else is a weakling. I think he's a pompous ass. He's lucky he's of high rank".

Cora growled lowly, the nerve of this imbecile.

You're right girl, something's not right with Liam and Luke knows a lot.

We were quiet for a while before I stood.

"Okay then, well am gonna get more drinks, do you want some?" I called to Luke.

He smiled "sure, anything you're getting is fine".

I nodded and headed to the food table. I was about to pick another pizza when I felt shivers wreck my body.

Aurora, Cora growled, it's almost time.

I nodded then picked the food and headed to our table. The guys wee already back from dancing.

"Back so soon" I asked. Mary nodded, "yeah, dancing is so not my thing".

As I sat down another tremor went through my body and I hunched over.

"Aurora are you okay" Mary asked, the others turned to me but I stood.

"Yeah I think it's something I ate, I'll be right back".

I headed to the kitchen and leaned over the counter trying to get my act together and leave.

When I was calm I turned to leave but heard a voice. Even with the loud music I could recognize the voice.

When's Luke coming with Aurora?

Soon, told him we meet up by midnight.

Do you think he can convince her to come?

Yeah, she sees Luke as a friend so am sure she'll come with him.

"Hy what's the time?" I asked the moment I sat down. Dave glanced at his watch, "27 minutes to midnight"

"How are you feeling now" Neil asked.

"Good I guess but I wanna head outside for some air".

Luke stood, "mind if I tag along?", I shook my head.

Turning to the others I snatched an apple form Kate's hand, she grumbled and pouted.

"See you guys later" I waved and pulled Luke's hand.

When we stepped outside I released his hand "mind if we head to the creek?".

He shrugged nonchalantly but I felt his excitement. So I led him through the trail that wasn't covered by camera.

My power was slowly rising and I could feel Luke's confusion and apprehension, so I knew I had to take him out before he mind linked Rex or Maxwell.

I made a sudden stop which led to him bumping into me, "Luke who's that?" I whimpered.

He stepped closer "I don't see anyone".

I tugged in his hand "but I saw someone over there, the eyes were glowing"

He turned to me and held my shoulders "it's okay you might have had too many drinks or it's probably someone from the pack".

I nodded but I could see the way his eyes glazed which was a sign that he was mind linking someone.

Using that as a distraction I screamed loudly "Luke watch out"

The moment he released my shoulders and turned back, I sped round him and attacked. I punched his nose hard leaving him disoriented then I hit his stomach digging my claws and releasing a venom in him.

Within minutes he was out like a light and he never knew what hit him.

But he will when he wakes up, it's time to take the guest home.

Lifting him on my back, I sped through the forest to my treehouse.

I cuffed and tied him to the chair. I contemplated on blindfolding him but didn't. It would be fun to see his face when he wakes up.

Going down I sat on the grass, looking towards the full moon and smiling. When the tremor came again, I could feel my body glowing and Cora wanting to shift. I could also hear their voices so clear and filled with love,

I shifted completely and Cora let out a powerful howl.

Knowing we could not run outside the circle of trees for risk of being found or our power sniffed out, she ran round the trees within the circles.

When she ran to her fill, I shifted back and went to the treehouse. Luke was still out cold so I laid down and slept, with a huge smile in my face.

Tomorrow's gonna be a good day.

It was nearly noon when I woke up, so I knew our absence would be noticed now.

I could feel the guys trying to reach me through the mind link but I projected fear and pain instead of replying. That way they would tell that I was in pain and danger.

Luke was up and trashing around.

"I would advice you to stop, it's no use".

"Aurora what the hell, where am I, why am I even here, what did you do to me, why am I not healing, why can't I mind link with anyone, who and what the fuck are you anyway?".

I sighed boredly "too many questions Luke, too many questions".

He snarled and tried to break free while muttering swears, curses and threats at me. I just stood there watching him.

When he wore himself out I smirked, "well now you're done I'll answer your questions. You're here because I need you here, you can't heal or mind link because of the venom in you. Cool isn't it?. And concerning what I am, that's for me to know and for you and your pathetic league to find out".

He growled and tried to shift only to slump back "what league are you talking about, damn it just let me out of this".

Walking to him I released him and threw him to the floor, "if you want your freedom fight for it.

He wasted no time in coming at me throwing punches, scratches and bites at me while I defended myself poorly.

When I felt I had enough wounds and marks to back up my story I pushed him to the wall.

"Play time's over Luke" rushing to him I knocked him out with a punch then proceeded to tie and cuff him again.

Climbing down from the treehouse I winced in pain, I've got to give to him, he was strong and his punches hurt.

Only because we let him Cora scoffed.

Sprinting off I ran to towards the training ground but slowed down knowing fully well that there was a camera at that angle.

I kept dragging myself till I got to the entrance of pack house and collapsed but I felt someone hold me.

Mate Cora purred,

Wait what...

Yes he's arms are so strong and he smells heavenly Cora purred again.
