Chapter 7

Aurora stormed down the hallway. Cometflinger and Sahara trailed behind her, Sahara with ease, Comet struggling with his shorter legs. "Aurora, where are we going?" Sahara asked. She briskly turned the corner. "You'll see." Comet trotted up to her, gently touching her white wings with his black ones. The moment she looked at him, her face softened, but went back to stone hard as soon as she looked away. They turned a corner and stepped out on a small cliff. In the sky, a golden Skywing with red scales was flipping and flying. Aurora heard Sahara gasp. She looked back and saw a look- the look of someone who had fallen in love, who had just met their soulmate. She snorted. "I'll call him," she said. Sahara glanced at her in confusion, a sparkle now in her eyes, then looked back at the sky.

Aurora took a couple steps forward towards the edge of the cliff, took a deep breath, and let loose a jagged roar that scare birds from the nearby forest. Loud, long, terrifying.

Inferno was flying. He was always flying, he was a Skywing. It was in his nature to love it. He swooped through the sky, doing flips and spinning around. A roar tore through the air. A very familiar roar that usually ended in someone getting clawed or threatened. He stopped and turned around. On a cliff ledge not to far away was a small Nightwing, a shiny rainbow Icewing, and a beautiful Sandwing. Wow. He thought. She's beautiful. He saw Aurora's teeth glinting in the bright sunlight, her tongue glowing sapphire. He flew down and landed lightly on the edge. Aurora had backed up a few steps by now, standing back by the Sandwing. Her scales were a light, dusty gold. Her underbelly was paler, the perfect color of sand he'd sometimes seen at the beach at the northernmost part of the Sky Kingdom. Well, the short two years he'd been there before his family moved to Possibility. The marking on her limbs were beigie, her horns and claws only a shade lighter. Her frill and wing membrane were golden-orange. The most stunning part about her were her eyes- They weren't black. At least, not completely. If you looked close enough, her pupils looked purple, and her iris danced with different shades of gray, getting lighter at the end.

He realized he was starring. He put his head down, lowering his gaze to the floor and his talons. He didn't speak. "Inferno," Aurora's harsh voice called. "This is Sahara, Sahara, meet Inferno." He lifted his head. "Hello-," he started. All of a sudden, he was slammed against the wall of rock. He saw Aurora, fire in her narrow eyes, pinning him while standing on her haunches. Her talon was at his throat. His black hind talons didn't even touch the ground. How she had gotten the strength to lift a dragon slightly bigger than her, he didn't know. "You have no right to speak," she growled. He whimpered, fear growing. She dropped him.

"Why?" He asked. "Why do you need me?" Aurora put her talon over her shoulder, and Sahara put the scroll down on her palm. She grabbed it and handed it to him. "This. This is why. Our destiny is inevitable." She turned, leaving Inferno reading the scroll.

"This is a prophecy. Whose?" Her tail twitched slightly. She nodded at Cometflinger, but said nothing.

"Since when does he have powers?"

"Since today. And he's not the only one." She could see that he was confused.

"You?"

"See for yourself."

Aurora took her ring off and handed it to him. He put it on. It grew to fit fil his big claw. "What?" The Skywing asked, confused

"I expected you to be smarter. Ever heard of aminus magic?"

She lifted her talon up and opened them. All of a sudden, a necklace appeared. The black bead chain had an oval pendant, which had a vine-flower pattern on it. Inside, there was an unrecognizable turquoise stone that seemed to be glowing. Inferno's eyes widened. She put it on. He realized that she wasn't wearing her pearl necklace, it was draped around Sahara's neck. "Oh,"He breathed. He gave Aurora her ring back, which she put on. "You need me for the prophecy. That's why you came to find me." He said. Aurora's eyes narrowed even more. Sahara interrupted before she could snap at him. "Yes," she said. "We think your the 'Sky' in it." Aurora snatched the scroll out of Inferno's talons as he started to reread it.

Cometflinger was starting to get nervous. He knew Aurora for one-and-a-half years, and he could tell when she was about to snap. The tip of her tail pointed upwards and her claws dug into the earth- these were signs that she was close. To close for comfort. He stepped forwards, putting his tail on hers, and said,"Why don't we take this inside? It's getting pretty warm out here." Aurora looked at him, and her tail relaxed. He suppressed a sigh.

"No it's not," Inferno and Sahara argued in inusion. Aurora's nostrils flared. They looked at each other before Inferno ducked his head, blushing. Aurora snorted before spreading her large wings, letting the sun soak into her bones. It was warm, but not like Possibility. That was misery. This was comfortable, nice almost. Aurora took a deep breath. "No, it's not. It's probably just your black scales." He thought about that for a moment. "True. The shade does feel nice." She folded her right wing; the one Comet wasn't under. "Your just lucky enough that we're friends. Most dragons would of been wacked by now." He sighed. She knew that was true. Either wacked or thrown off the mountain, depends on who they were. She went inside and the rest of them followed until they went to their own caves.

Necklace Aurora summoned. I still need the Icewing name. Please comment on that part.
